This is the show where I talk about the text. Ff, I think you should know about it's also the place where I answer your questions about technology. I believe that that should be interesting, useful and fun.
Let's open up those phone lines at tripoli. Rich, one or one? That's eight, eight, seven, four, two, four, one, zero, one.
Give me a call of a question about technology. Email is also open. Just got a rich on tech dat T, V and hit contact guest.
This week. We've got a ja palmer from best reviews to com. He's going to share some top holiday gift recommendations. Then in the second hour, we've got wire cutters to join us.
Neths and burrow will be here to a share strategies for finding the best black friday deals and have some of their holiday gift recommendations. And later in the show, bake bot, AI creator babet pipi will explain how artificial intelligence is transforming the way that we bake and cook. She's got a very cool tool called bak ba AI that we used that the other day.
IT was really fun. It's basically a ChatGPT voice. But to help you cook and you can modify recipes shall explain very, very cool. Well, IT is the kickoff to the holiday shopping season. Amazon has started their cells, which means all of the other retailers have followed in line.
That means walmart, best buy, target, just about every other store has to keep pace with amazon because their Prices are so competitive, so on. Amazon kicks off their sales, the other stores do the same thing and the reverses true. Whenever another store has a cell, what is amazon do? They pretty much match the Price.
And I guarantee this is very frustrating for retailers who negotiate exclusives and deals. And the amazon has a way of matching exactly what they do. Now with all this in mind, I ve tested a lot of gadgets over the past year, and I am presenting to you some of my favorites.
I think that these are all great gadgets for the holidays. If you're looking for a gift for someone and don't just take my word for IT, there are lots of other places you can look for recommendations. I figured I would just give you mine two other places that i'd like to look.
Amazon has this top one hundred gift idea category, and you can go through their score through and see what they like. And then google, this year, google has something called the holiday one hundred. These are trending gifts.
So these are based on all the searches they saw. They look at what people are searching for, and they came up with a whole bunch of gift ideas based on that. One of them is the lego tuxedo cat that's pretty awesome.
You've got a oh well, see, I just got idea for my kid who know A I nfl card game how cool that a pick ball paddle said, yeah so that's a whole bunch of stuff that that google has put up up with the links on the website. Just got a rich on tech dat, T, V. And hit the light bob icon up at the top in real time.
You can find links to anything I mentioned, right? So without further doing, this is also my website. This is the rich on tech ultimate holiday gift guide.
Let's start with some essentials. I love this thing that is on my desk, the amazon echo spot. This is a compact, smart speaker with a screen which shows you kind of the weather.
Anything is responding to with a question. Little bit more information there. The music is currently playing.
It's just really handy to have a screen on your echo speaker. And this is forty five dollars on sale. Perfect for your desk or your bedside table.
IT is so great. I love that thing. I use IT every day in my office. Now when IT comes to power banks, I am loving the anchor mag go power bank.
So what I love about this, and you can see that I love having information at my fingertips. This also has a screen on IT. So i'm not sure if you use many power banks, but most of the time, they either have no information at all about the battery level or it's it's very obscure.
It's like maybe four dots that light out or two dots that light up in letting you know of it's twenty five percent, seventy five percent. This has a screen that not only tells you the exact battery level, but also shows you what wattage is using to charge something else. So you plug something in, you can see if it's charging faster, slow, which I love.
IT also has an apple watch charger built in, so this only has a cable USB c SHE can plug stuff in, but he has an apple watch charger. So when you travel, that is one less cable you have to bring. This is fifty five books on sale if you're looking for a thin and light wait windows laptop with great performance.
I love the assumes zen book. This is five hundred dollars. And it's like, it's kind like the macbook air of the windows world.
Now this next thing is just the most tried and true gift. I can think of the ora digital picture frame if you are stumped on what to get someone for the holidays. This is incredible.
I gave us to my dad a couple of weeks ago when I was back home on new jersey. I've never seen someone like a gift so much so quickly. He was adding pictures to this thing in seconds. So this is a wifi enabled frame. You can upload unlimited photos to IT.
It's perfect for your parents or grandparents because you can add not only can they add photos to IT, but you can to write from your phone if you're on the same sung side of things and you want the galaxy watch ultra IT is a fantastic deal right now, four hundred and ninety dollars. It's typically six hundred and fifty. And this is their most rugged red design, has got long battery life.
It's got solutions built in. Of course, you have to pay for a solution plan, but that's built in. And it's just a great watch.
I really like IT. It's a beautiful watch if you have a samsung g phone. All right, how about some of the unique and fun gift ideas? So this is one that is funny.
I tested this out of my home. It's called the below sixty air fresher and IT IT looks like all those. You can get air pressure anywhere.
But this one is promoted by Hillary duff, or a Hillary duff and my wife. When I stop testing this thing, she's like, what happened to that air fresher? I said, oh, you know, i'm done with that.
I tested that. I like that. We ran out of the same use. What can you order more? That's when you know a product is good.
So this not only looks cool, this is like a very nice looking air fresher. It's got fun. Set names like vanilla buys a time share in paradise.
So that's on sale as well. You can get IT used to be like one of those things. He had to subscribe.
Night disordered, my, my son. This is really fantastic, called the clicker phone grip. And kickstand twenty books magnetically attaches to the back.
Your phone and IT just lets you mount, like, prop up your phones. You can watch movies on IT and things like that. The other one I like that's great for this is called the gator grip.
So if you don't have mag safe on your phone, get the gator grip. This is basically an oversize, closed pen that you just click to the back of your phone. And again, twenty dollars lets you have hands free entertainment on planes.
I use either one of these every single time I fly. IT is just the greatest thing to watch stuff on your phone. I ve actually, before I had this was so desperate.
One time I figured out how to fold the inflight magazine to prop up my phone. I, like, took the magazine. I've folded IT backwards and made like a loop and then brought my phone up, because you can watch your phone flat on the surface, on the train front of.
Now, this is something I saw. The verizon holiday event the other night is called a mag mogi. Brilliant idea.
It's a cute little stuff t animal that magnetically attaches to the backyard phone using mag safe. These costs anywhere from fifteen to thirty dollars, and they are sort of like a little purse. So there's like a little pocket that you can on sip inside.
But IT is fun. You got a kid or teenager. These are just of a fun little way to express yourself and have a little stuff.
T animal in the back, your phone that's called the mag mogi. This was a hit at last year's holiday party, still going strong at a much Better Price. The sway mini oke cariole step.
So this is a tiny cariole machine that fits in the palm of your hand. It's got a microphone, wireless microphone, and it's also got cool L, D, lights on IT that light up. While you sing, this thing is just thirty dollars.
If you are looking for some cariole fun at your next holiday party, check out the sway mini OK cariole. Mike said. We had such a blast with this at our last holiday party, right?
Couple of other accessories ies, I love the cord brick. See now how when you have a cable on your desk and unplug your phone, the cable was and IT like sucks like a piece of spaeth in your mouth. And I just goes to the back of the desk.
So that is the cord brick. This is like a little um waited piece of ruber that has a bunch of grooves in IT. You put your cords through those grooves and now you can pull your cables out but they're not onna.
Slide back behind the desk. This is twelve box I also spotted at at lows, but that's a great little device to have IT on all of my, all of my desks. If you want a screen protector that super cheap and easy to install, I love the speaking screen protectors.
They are sixteen dollars for a two pack. If you have a cracked screen on your phone right now, crack screen protector, just buy this right now, please. You don't need to have, you don't need to pay fifty dollars to have someone at the mall install this thing for you.
This speaking is incredible. IT does a great job, and it's so easy to install. All right, let's see what else here.
Let's see before we go. Wise products members wise. This is the company that made its name on a twenty doll security camera.
When that thing first came out, people asked me, rich, is this legitimate? How can you have a security camera? That's twenty dollars? yes.
And it's even cheaper right now during the holidays. Seventeen dollars for the wise original security camera. Lets see what else here. The movie three, one travel charger last year, this was one hundred and fifty dollars. Right now, it's seventy five dollars.
If you have an iphone, apple watch and airports, this is the best way to charge them all on the go in your hotel room, you plug one thing in and that's IT. That's all you need to do to charge all three, those items. A link of all of my holiday gift picks.
I'm going to continue to update that list at all on the website. Rich on tech dot T, V, eighty eight, rich one or one, eight, eight, eight, seven, four, two, four, one, zero, one. My name is rich tomorrow, and you are listening to rich on tech.
Welcome back to rich on tech. Rich to miro here, hanging out with you talking technology at tripoli. Rich, one or one, eight, eight, eight, seven, four, two, four, one, zero, one. I am a big believer in what's meant to be, is meant to be.
I've often thought about that, like, think about this, is your life predetermined from the moment you get here until the end? Or do you have the ability to affect what happens in your life? And I said, you know, it's a lot to think about, but I am a big believer in kind of what happens.
Sometimes something happens to you that you think is devastating or you think is really not a good thing. And maybe it's a good thing. Maybe IT all works out for the Better reason.
I my car. Now, that's the reason you have your car because of your philosophy. What was my philosophe which meant to be? To be, tell me, explain this is bob this weird?
You know, my other car had a camera, and me and my wife have been talking about children. We want children. We want children. And i'm like, okay, I put IT off like two years, you know, to me, like limit.
I can get a car in two years, but i'm not trying to have kids at old of a certain, okay, well, no car dies, so I have no choice but to buy a car, and I have to get a family friendly car. There you go. And now were in the process.
I thought you say you had a burn in the event I you like. Now I didn't know where that was going, but it's exciting now. You're prepared, are prepared IT all happens for reason.
You know who has to prepare for something? Uh, google, they have been a under attack from the united states justice department. Remember a couple months ago I told you how a judge did find that google search ads were a monopoly.
He didn't have a problem with the fact that google runs a really good search engine like he said, yeah, the search engine is really good. But the problem is it's so good and they've done all these deals and they've solidified their dominance in the search market that pretty much they have monopoly in those search ads. You know, this adds, you see, when you google searched something right at the top, those sponsored links. Well, now the justice department is pushing for google to sell its chrome browser.
So this is, you know, they want them to divest this to another company, which would be really tRicky because when you think google, you think chrome, when you think chrome, you think google and IT kind of has a lot of implications because is chrome a business on its own, what a company even want to buy that? And already, if you go on chrome, you can you can choose any search engine you want through chrome. Most people choose the search engine that the default, which is cool because it's so good, you can try another search engine.
You usually come back now. I'm not saying that google isn't under a lot of pressure right now from other AI companies, right? ChatGPT just added search on the web through theirs.
Of course, you have to be a paying member for that. You've got perplexity, which does really good web searches, and you got a whole place tha of other search engines out that you can choose from. But google is still, at this point, the best.
So what else they want google to do? They also want to prohibit google from paying companies like apple and samsung to make sure its search engine is the default on those devices. So like the iphone, when you buy that, you fired up, you do a search.
It's going to bring you to google, samsung. Same thing. It's going to be a google is your default searches.
But they pay billions of dollars to be there. And so the justice department wants that to stop. And some other things, they also want android to change.
They're not gonna say you ve got to sell android, but they're saying you've got ta stop Mandating your own services on android devices. So typically, when a manufacturer agrees to get android for free, the Operating system, they have to put gmail on there. They have to install a certain amount of google apps on that phone.
It's like a package deal like gmail, youtube, chrome browser, obviously, google play store. And so if they don't do that, they can't use android for free. And so the justice partner saying maybe should stop that as well.
So this is not going to happen overnight. I'm not sure gonna happen at all, but that is what the the department is pushing for. They want google to kind of change its ways, but i'll be honest.
And this is this is what always happens, kind of with like the law and tech, tech is so ahead of the law. Now already, I think google runs a big business. They are very dominant in their world.
But the problem is they are on the shake est ground they have ever been on in any point in their history because of A I. And yes, they have german. I yeah do enough of A A I.
But you've got these competitors coming out of nowhere. And by the way, they don't have the overhead that google has, so they can do things little bit more. You a lean, they can do things differently.
And so I do think that we're going to see some talk about this stuff with google, but i'm not sure anything's onna happen. The earliest anything is given here on this is in April of next year. So we've got a while. Nothing's going to change right now. Got a question here from dave in colorado.
Rich, is there a software or something I can save a website or you're all forever frozen in times I can open IT in the future and IT remains the same? Or maybe a proceedings I can use to save a page from the internet for viewing later in its original content. Thank you, dave.
Yes, dave, there is. The website is. It's called archive dot today, archive dt today.
And so if you go there, you can pop in a URL, and that will save the URL forever. Now I guess as long as this website is around. So that's one way to do IT.
The other way is you can take a lish couple apps like raindrop, raindrop that I O I don't think it's snaps shots to U R L, but IT does save. It's like a bookmarking sites. That's also a good way to save your else.
And then of syrian, they just came out the web clipper. Of cyan just came out the web clipper. It's completely free and that will save the page, maybe not in the same exact format, but in very similar.
Of course, you can also use a screen shot. APP, what's the one that I like trying to find the name here? I come up with that after the break.
Rich on tech dot TV eighteen. Rich, one to one. I'll come back to rich on tech.
Rich, tomorrow here, hang ging out with you talking technology at tripoli. Rich, one or one will get back to those phone lines in just a moment. But let's talk deals for the holiday shopping season. Joining me now is Jacob palmer from best reviews dot com. This holiday season, do you think are the deals there?
And then the thing with this holiday season is, is that there's more of an empty to jump early because of how late thanksgiving is right now is a great time to buy. And especially you have any concerns about getting what you really want the earlier job out of the Better because of how like .
things give us any early trends that you're seeing with pricing or products or what people are interested in.
Yeah, basically across the board. So on pricing across the board, we're seeing twenty percent as of the starting point for a good deal. And that's usually the case where usually say, hey, look at twenty just starting point. But the retailers are jumping at that now and they're making basically all across the board in terms of the kinds of products that are really popular so far. Obviously tech, obviously home, those are always going to be huge. But a lot of luxury beauty right now and a lot of wellness and personal care stuff is what we're seeing as well in terms of what people are really jumping at because we are seeing really good mark downs there as well and essential competitive space that basically the cellars have to be able to put these big deals up to grab the market here.
Let's art with what do you want to start with?
So we should start with the best gift for kids. What we've got here is the climbing gec. O i'm excited to show you this one because IT is just straight up cool and is perfect for the Younger kids.
You know, there's a teenager or y're not going to be blown away by this, but it's a superstate forward thing that goes on of the wall. And then you can clip around the wall. It's remote controlled so you can direct IT all around the wall.
IT even works on the ceiling, so you can have a crown on the stealing. And I mean, for a kid, you know, my kid is two years old, then all the way up to like that seven, eight year old range like IT is a lot of fun, even if IT is simple fun and it's a stem. T yes, what's surprise point on that is going to be around thirty dollars. And so it's super reasonable. And you know it's also going to be marked down while surprise last.
What's next?
So next time we've got the best for frequent fliers, IT, is the beats studio pro over ear headphones. They have incredible noise cancellation. Know the kind of thing that you expect.
The technology there is so solid in terms of what you expect. There is also got all the facial audio, which I think is basically become kind of table stakes for all kinds of headphones. But it's got the audio quality.
It's got to notice cancellation. But the reason why we are naming IT the best for frequent fliers this holiday is in is because of how comfortable IT is. Um and it's the kind of headphones that if you fall asleep wearing among the plane you won't you know wake up with with a headache about IT.
So in the best tested that we put IT through, uh about a half dozen of this kind of headphone of the bigger brands know the biggest you can think of. And this was the one that came out the top terms of just comfortability. And so we like IT for that you know if you're going to be talking about the sound and that's what you wanted be going for, the boss was our favorite.
Um and then if you want compatibility with your iphone, the airports max are going out. And what's surprise point on these? These are a couple hundred box right now and we're already seeing super good deals on these. And these are coming down to around two hundred and fifty dollars right now, down from their full list Price, which is closer to three hundred and fifty.
fifty five doors. This is a common problem, even in los Angeles. You get to your kids ball game and your hands are freezing what you got here.
And so this is the okba hand warmers and recharge the perfect stocking stuck stuffers what we're calling them this year because they're perfect for, you know, the soccer mom, the hockey mom or really anybody maybe going out to a tailgate and you're going to standing outside for a while. We d kind of hate of the old hand warmers because they're wasteful.
You use them, they work for twenty minutes maybe, and then you throw out, this is great because you know, you've got that you know that you know, no matter what events coming, you're gonna covered. All you need just make sure you charge IT ahead of time. They charge really fast.
You can plug IT in the car on the way to the hockey game, and you'll be covered in those rings, which are freezing, literally. Price point on this very cheap lesson. Twenty hours.
Let's move on to the fp. IT. You've GTA versa for here.
Why do you like that? It's one of fit bits newest models. IT comes with all the fitness tracking and wellness steps that you come to expect from fitbit. You know they're one of the absolute first when IT comes this biometric hacking and checking that everybody's now into. And the verse four is a great kind of evolution of IT because IT looks like the the smart watches that people have come to know you can wear IT going to work and you're not going to feel silly about IT and be wondering you should be wearing this or not. But IT also has great sleep tracking.
When we put IT to the test against a lot of others with our favourite forward to sleep tracking, and I think what people are awake ing to part in the pond is that sleeve tracking really does matter to the overall wellness profile that people are putting together right now. So we love IT for that. And so is our best gift for the finish uses in your life because IT, we're great for the run.
It's got to GPS built and do IT, which we love as well. But IT also is super well suit to be able to help you track your sleep. And all was really important metrics s that are going to help maximize wellness.
And IT works with iphone and android. And we're seeing in now in one hundred dollar range. So more than one hundred dollars, but it's it's definite marked down right now and the two hundred under two hundred. And for the newest model, I mean, that something that were a pretty excited to see on my Price of orange.
what is the lofty alarm clock?
So the lot the alarm clock is basically the ultimate evolution of those alarm clock that you'd see in every hotel room that I think all us grew up having in our rooms. But instead of a harsh red light beeping in your face and flashing in your face, IT is super customizable. IT also works as a White noise machine, and IT can also have a bunch of different a features on IT that, that will allow you to really figure out how do you want to wake up.
So you can see IT to have a gentle reminder to wake up at one point. If you're the kind of person who is the twenty times before you're willing to get out of bed, so then you will also get increasingly harsh. So you know, you're not going to miss your meeting of these things really go and access now does this a display on IT A O I? And you can customize IT so you can use different color tones on. You can pick what information is showing you um and then also you can program IT to go night black out when you want to be sleeping because there's a lot of studies out there now that any amount of light in your bedroom while you're trying to sleep is harmful.
Very sleep. I love IT sort of like a modern alarm clock that's been rethought for sort of how we work today.
What's surprise point? It's one hundred twenty hours right now.
Is IT internet connected?
yes. okay. yeah. It's connected. And then you can control IT from your phone as well. It's got like different settings IT that you can use .
through an APP OK. I want that gotta have some tunes. Tell me about the sound core speaker.
So it's a blue to speaker that, I mean, as you can see, this thing is not a small that you're going to attach your backpack.
This is a formidable piece of equipment that we've got right now, and this is our best gift from a hidden gem brand because during these big shopping events are always looking to figure out like, is this deal worth IT? Is this Price too good to be true? And the best views were always testing products to figure out, like, is this lower Price point product as good as some of the bigger names? And anchor fits that bill perfectly because IT sounds great.
This is a powerful speaker. I mean, if you're look in front, you can power the entire party, whether you're at the park, you're at the tail gate, uh, your your backyard, wherever this is going to keep everybody going. So we love IT for that, but it's also super a affordable, specially when you compared to some of bigger names like bows or someone else .
or something like that. I also like that, that looks like there are light on the light.
Play in IT will give you some light on the side and they will go with the rythm of the song you're playing as well. That's that's another fun court and Frankly, is another thing that i've happened with a lot of the higher and blue speakers, but you're getting all these speeches from anchor, which is always impressive.
So the anchor sound core, what's surprise point on this?
This is going to be a little bit more than one hundred dollars as well. But when you're getting these bigger ones, you know over these all the events can get up to you know from the J B S. And those brand like that, these can get up to like two hundred, three hundred dollars depending on what you look at that.
Last but not least, the thread n this looks like a newer model. It's of a compact model.
yeah. And I D seems like every year when we started talking about gifts, I started talking about the gas because of how well received they are. This is a model that's a little bit more affordable.
You're going to see IT around one hundred and sixty dollars right now marked down. So it's coming down from the the bigger Price point. But he also has evolved the technology itself. So on that L, D screen, IT has right there self guide you through the routine.
And it's got all the other features that you've come to expect from their gun, whether is the panda trying to the handle that help you kind of get deep into your own. Muscles or you is where the way that helps to circulation or how to get a Better nights left because of the relaxing factor. And that also comes with a few different attachments. So depending on what you want to be doing in terms of most of relief, you can do IT.
And I ve noticed couple improvements from when I have this has USB c, which is a nice improvement. It's got the screen so you're kind of guide you through instead of using like the phone APP. It's really small, compact, which is nice. What's the Price point on the throg's sense right now .
we're seeing in for that one hundred and sixty hundred, two hundred dollar range. And I do expect as the shopping goes on and as we get closer to the event, like in the cyber monday, I do expect them they're probably keep coming down on that.
Thank you. Jackie palmer of best reviews dot com and just full disclosure, best reviews is owned by the same parent company as kita, the television station I work for. I get those phone calls interpolate rich, one or one, eight, eight, eight, seven, four, two, four, one, zero.
One more rich on that coming your way right after this. Welcome back to rich on tech. Rich, the mirror here, hanging out with you talking technology, the phone line for the show.
Eight, eight, rich, one or one, eight, eight, eight, seven, four, two, four, one, zero, one. The website for the show, rich on tech, that T, V, doing the shootings a little bit different today. So they're still the same place. If you hit the light ball, that will take you to the shown notes. This is episode ninety nine, and you insist little bit different, the formats different, all not sure there there in real time.
So if you want links, anything that jack a palmer from best reviews just mentioned, you can find them there, or anything that I mentioned earlier in the show, IT is all there, dave in A C dave righting, I missed IT on your show. Please tell me the software you used to answer emails with your voice. I would like to compose emails with my voice and send them back.
Thank you. So the thing that I mentioned on the show is called whisper flow W I S P R flow that is available for um mac only. So that is a mac mac you format right now windows and IOS and android coming soon.
IT works really well. It's very accurate. You get two thousand words for free.
I think a week after that, you do have to pay so or a month, I don't know there. There's some sort of free level. I have not reached the point where I have to pay for anything. So that IT works just fine if you're on windows, windows and mac, by the way, both have built in voice to text. IT might not be as good as this because this is A I powered.
But on windows, if you want to try this, you can turn on voice typing by pressing the windows key plus h that will bring up the hardware keyboard on your computer screen, and then press the microphone key next to the space bar. So windows age plus the microphone key, and that will bring up the voice to text on windows eleven. Let's see what it's like on windows ten.
Windows ten? Yeah, same thing. So again, that is how you do IT on there. You is one of these things for the dictation that we have like a special on iphone is just it's not that good like I I really rarely use IT because not as fast as I wanted to be on android is very fast. If you're using g board by google, that's google keyboard.
The voice to text is like incredible and it's really fast, especially you're on a pixel, you're on a samsung. You're using IT. It's good.
The pixel is like somewhat, I don't know, a little bit Better because it's goes back to what we are talking about. It's goolden product. So I guess they favorite little bit. It's a Jerry in vine, california. Jerry are on with rich.
I am doing .
fantastic.
What's up last five phones that I have bought over the years, and they have made me more or less use G, L. And them to activate them. And now I don't use any of them anymore. And i've been finding lately that what i've been trying to start up a new account, they have blocked me because I really have a 几秒钟。 So how can I delete like four, five and and IT start from scratch.
delete the gmail account yeah. Like the whole thing.
like the whole thing yeah. Because the phones were only used for a while until they died, and then the account was still active. So the system seems to fake and still using the a couple devolve get so there's like five or six accounts of there. You know they are basically connected to me. There are being .
used OK and .
I can get to how many work they don't know what they pass world is or what uh addresses because they're so old. Okay, what those two things you can do here.
So there's number one, you can get rid of a device that has access to your account by going to google outcomes slash devices. And I recently did this, and there's a whole bunch. This will give you a list of every single device that has access to your google.
So i'm looking at mine. I've got four sessions on mac computers right now. I've got twelve sessions on android devices.
I tests a lot of devices and it'll even tell you how inactive like. So for instance, google pixel fold says it's been inactive for ninety nine days because I I was a test phone. I have not used that.
And so that is a phone that I would when I click, I can sign out. I can sign myself out of android. So that will get rid of that device off of my android account. Now in in your case, these phones, if the batteries are dead, you haven't turned them on in a while IT doesn't matter. They're still going be signed out if that phone is ever turned on again soon as he gets turned on and connected to the internet, boom, it's not going to have access to anything.
So now the thing is, if their stuff on those phones that you know is residing on the physical drive, there are the storage on the phone, people would be able to access that if they're able to unlock your phone and open IT and turn IT on. So all those things would have to happen. They probably won't have your pass code.
So anyway, that's the first way to do IT. So again, go to google dot com. And this is something that's good to do in general.
I know most people are not activating as many devices as I am, like i'm always activating something on my accounts, are always going through and getting rid of those, but that's google outcomes flash devices. okay. Now if you want to delete these gmail accounts, that's a whole other thing.
So that's actually deleting your google account. And I am trying to see if I immediately delete. I feel like there's probably some sort of like waiting period where IT probably deletes and then IT probably still lingers for a while and know facebook to that for a while.
But i'm trying to find the direct link to this is a support page. And if if you search for delete your google account, the support page that comes up, if i'll put in the show notes, has a button that says delete google account. Now i'm going to tap that button because I don't want to start that process, only what google think of doing that.
But that's where you go. And so once you tap that, you will log in with your google information, there will be some sort of verification and then you will be able to delete that account. So those are the two places I would go to check to see if your account, if you need to get rid of those games.
And I, my test time, what a really good free email service. To start with the connect, a separate from the fall.
Um I mean I would say yahoo is probably good after gmail if you don't want to use gmail, yahoo just got like a big rev .
a mp so they're really pushing .
there okay. So so so yeah I missing a .
few emails here there and people call me up. You never respond and I never got IT work OK.
Well, the you can use that. There's proton mail, which is very secure. And then there's outlook. So outlook is obviously microsoft males, so you can use that as well. I think there's a lot of different email providers out there.
I'm not a big fan of some of the smaller ones just because I just I think sticking with one of the bigger ones is probably Better just because our soft is is going to be Better. But I would I mean, you want something that secure. Tried protein mail.
A lot of people are using that. There's a free level. Let's see what you get for free.
So you get a gig of storage for free. I would do that. Do proton, proton males. It's nice and secure.
So, and it's one gig for free, one user, one email address, and that's completely free every month. So I would do that. Jerry.
Thank you where I appreciate your time.
Have a great day. All right. Thank you, Jerry. Appreciate eighty eight, rich.

This is from a bleeping computer. They say that hackers are now using what's called svg files. Those are scalable vector graphic files, and they're sneaking nowhere into your inbox through these files.
So IT, typically when you get an email, you might have an attachment like a PDF or a JPEG or you know some other type of file name, and you recognized that you say I was in, I wasn't looking for this dock file or something. Welcome back to rich on tech. Rich to miro here, hanging out with you talking technology. The phone line for the show. Eighty eight.
Rich, one a, one, eight, eight, eight, seven, four, two, four, one, zero, one, the website for the show, rich on tech dot TV. If you want to link to anything I mentioned on the show, just hit the light bow. If you want to email me, hit contact and war there, be sure to sign up for the newsletter.
I also have my ultimate holiday gift guide on the front page. You can check out and get some ideas for some of the gadgets that I personally have tested and enjoy a lot and pretty much majority, they were on cell right now. John Wright in, hey, rich, I love to listen you on K.
F. I. Thanks for being in a helpful person. I apparently locked myself out of my facebook account.
They just keep asking me to change my password over over. I believe he said. You can pay meta to access help on this. Please let me know if that you are all would be. Thanks again, john.
Okay, you are referring to the story of the woman in some Francisco who walked to facebook headquarters because he was locked out of her account and SHE banged on the door there and said, hey, can you help me and they're like, no. And they gave her a print out, actually, without piece of paper that gave, like, all the different ways to get access to your account. The main way to get access to your account that is hacked on facebook is facebook dot com slash hack.
Facebook come slash hacked. That will also work for instagram. People have varying degrees of luck with that. Now here's how you get hacked. By the way, hackers are not trying to get into your account.
What's happening is that you are clicking a link that you thought was a notification for something, and you're logging in and you're handing over your password and you don't have two factor authentication enable. So to protect your facebook account, number one, do not log in to random facebook account. Question air kind of things works like, hey, did you see this picture someone shared of you and you click and yes, that you makes you log in.
Do not do that. Also, if you get a notification that says you've got a copyright in french, man, you ve got a lot. You've got to verify that do not that fake, do not do that anytime you have to log in to a facebook account any time that logging screen comes up.
Be very, very critical of that screen. In fact, I would never, I would just close out that screen and I would just go to facebook dot com and see if facebook comes up and if IT doesn't and you're there, then you can log in. The other way is to turn on two factor authentication that will protect you if you did give your password out that least keep the hackers from be able to access your account.
Many can go back in and change your passport once you realize the foolishness that you just participated in. Now, to answer a question, what the woman did was SHE signed up for something called meta verified. This is a fifteen dollar a month service that basically gets you um you the the VIP service for the help on your account.
If you try to contact someone at facebook, you're not onna get any help but this has prioritized support which means you can actually speak to a person and get help about your account. So what he did was SHE signed up for this, got to help. And then i'm assuming ing SHE cancelled IT.
Now here's a thing. Yeah, have to have a IT. Looks like I have to have a facebook page, instagram page or a business profiles.
So this is not necessarily for regular folks. So unless you are running a john a facebook page for a business, I don't know if this will work for you. You can try and go to the page, but it's called facebook.
It's called meta. Verified the website, I mean the websites a little monkey so i'll put IT in the shows, but it's facebook 点 com such business, such tools slash meta dash verified dash for dash business. Ah you're not remember that, so just search meta verified and that should bring you to the page says get a verified blue check on instagram, facebook and meta and that maybe might help you get a back.
Good question. Let's go to jeff in a clear water, florida. Jeff.
you're on fridge.
I am doing fantastic.
Thank you. Maybe you could help me out a really reflecting problem and having with google voice are trying to get a set up for a little uh part time business my wife and I are running um we established you know a phone number, a google voice phone number which uh fortunate unfortunate we've created business courage in a couple of other things that we already invested in. Um so we kind of stuck to that number.
Um what we want and are trying to accomplish is to port that google voice number over to uh uh a personal team. Mobile iphone IT had that ring on that iphone. Uh and you know who is cool if we pick IT up, but if we're not available, we don't pick IT up.
We want IT to go and be answered by the uh good old voice uh em business. A message that we've left ed over at global voice instead of doing that is being answered by the personal um you know message that we've left on our iphone and IT seems to me that I should be able to do that. But the I can is this is yes, there is a way to do .
IT there is a way to do, but you can you can have both things. You can't port the phone number, the google voice number, to that device and have the gool voice pick up the the gool voice, man. So what you do is okay.
The way you would set IT up is you basically have to you set up that phone. So iphone is little weird with the google voice stuff, because everything has to go through the ugly voice APP. You can't IT doesn't like integrate into the dialer like IT does on an android phone.
On android phone, you can have google voice take over the entire phone so you make calls from your your native dialer and will go through google voice. You can get calls through google voice is very seamless. But iphone the the way iphone is set up is very, very um particular because everything sandbox, you can't have google voice sort to take over the native dial.
Now that said, you can do exactly what you need. So what i'm hearing is you want people to be able to call this google voice number. It's going to ring your personal phone number, your personal phone. And then if you don't pick up that phone, it's just gonna to google voice and not your personal .
voice smell 再说。
K so there there is a setting that you have to go on your um let me think about this。 So it's like basically a setting that you have to do on your team mobile, which is like busy, no answer forward to google voice. So now here's a thing it's going to forward. It's probably going to forward your regular calls to that line as well if someone calls you .
like on your personal line.
And but there's a there is I think there's a way to do this because it's it's like a lot of little settings, but I am sure there's a way to do. You're talking about you're basically I think it's the busy no answer folding. I think that's what you want because that means if you yeah, let's say so, this will send incoming calls to another number when your phone is busy or you don't answer after a certain number of rings. So i'm trying to figure out if they call your google voice and your phone, you don't want your your regular voice smell l to pick up.
That's what you don't .
want to happen OK. And I I.
Want to business voice mail you know message from the google voice to yeah well.
the good news is, look, I I think there is is a way to do this. I've got ta look into its been a while since I played with the google voice settings. The thing is IT takes a little bit to figure this out because there are a whole bunch of settings both on your phone and also know the google voice sap.
Now here's everything. Is your iphone doing that thing where it's screening ing the calls on its own? Because apple in I teen added like a new voice mell feature was like screaming .
the calls itself. I SHE talk about using, by the way, thirty iphone, thirteen many. So i'm not sure we have that for liability on thirteen s um so I don't think we're doing that. You I don't see that we really have that ability. I know we talked in about okay.
I think the main thing you have to do here, and i'm really like I used that. So I was a google voice user from day one. I used be called grand central, and I I used this thing for years. I mean, and so I had to all figured out where basically if my phone didn't, I don't I think the problem is i'm not sure that you can have your phone not pick up the google voice call, but also not go to a regular voice man. I think it's is either .
one of the other yeah again.
And why why do you if this is call a phone line for work, why do you need IT to answer your .
can you just turn off your voice smell, even turn off, please yeah yeah I suppose we could do that here. Um I just just kind of a have I just we want best of both world but yeah.
the only thing I can think of is that I think this is what the solution is from before is that there might be a way to have tea mobile answer your calls like later like IT might take like let's say, let's say google voice smell will go gmail. Google voice will give you three rings before IT goes to its own voice I think I think you can ask him mobile to pick up their voice smell on the fourth ring. And I think that sort of like the hack. Have you asked them if figured do that?
You know, I I didn't know who to talk to. I wanted talk to you first.
but you're not going to find anyone at google voice .
I can guarantee talk to after I talk to you, he said to talk to team global first.
I would see if you could, I would see if you can turn off or extend the the calls, the the amount of rings before team mobiles voice male picks up. So let's say, let's say right now it's set up for three, three rings. And then team mobile picks up google, google voice.
By that time we will go to its own voice. Smell k, but I think, think i've really do. I've got ta think about this, and I don't want to take too much more time on this talk.
I know it's a very it's a very new watch thing, but I think there is a way you can do this. But IT turns out to be one of the sort of conditional call forwarding features on your phone line. So I think that's what is jeff semi email, go to the website, rich on tech tot v hit contacts, email, email.
We will figure this out, I guarantee. IT eighty eight, rich, one or one, eight, eight, eight, seven, four, two, four, one zero one. This is rich on tech.
Welcome back to rich on tech. Rich, the mirror here hanging out with you talking technology at tripoli. Rich, one to one, eighty eight, seven, four, two, four, zero, one.
Matthew in marita call to I let me know he confirmed that what I was saying is the right path for the google voice. So he basically said, yes, set your t mobile voice smell to pick up. And in a longer number of rings than the google voice, so your google voice picks up.
After three rings, set your team mobile voice melt to pick up after four, five things, and there are short codes on the website, you can help to do that. Otherwise you could probably all team mobile to reset that. Thank you, Matthew.
In marita. Yeah, it's been a while. So I was actually all in on google voice for a while. The problem is google has not really updated google voice in a big way. So yes, I still use IT for a couple of text and things like that.
But it's kind of like if you're trying to integrate IT into your car audio and all that stuff and you're not you're using an iphone, it's really tRicky. Android, much easier because android IT just becomes your phone line. It's very, very simple.
But iphone is very, very tRicky with that. If you have amazon music unlimited, you just got free audio book. So amazon is building audible into amazon music limited.
So amazon music limited is there kind of their spotify? It's ten box a month for, you know, all the music you want to listen to. But now they are adding audio books into the mix.
So if you're a prime member and you've got amazon music limited, you can basically listen to one audio book title a month. And it's kind of wear because spotify gives you fifteen hours of audio books a month. You can listen to fifteen different books at an hour each.
This service through amazon only let you listen to one title per month, so you can Carry on to the next month. You don't finish IT, but IT doesn't sound like you can start a new book until the next month again. So again, one audio book per month from audibles catalogue e and I had someone tell me this morning saying, Richard, I downadup all table on a prime member, amazon music unlimited member, I don't see anything about being free.
And so I downloaded the amazon APP. I subscribed to the the free trial, which, by the way, they are doing three, three months right now. You can just listen to three months of books for free.
But if you go into amazon music, it's up at the top. IT used to say music and podcast. Now IT says music audible and podcast.
You pop into auber and now you can listen and says audio books from audible are now included with amazon music limited. Select one audio book each month. So kind of a cool park.
And it's just an all out war between amazon music limited and spotify. A spotify added all your books couple months ago. I found the spotify audio books to be very convoluted IT IT kept IT would not keep my place in the audio book.
And so for that reason, I just gave up on IT. Now, audible works perfectly. IT keeps your place across every device. For some reason, spotify just could not get that right. So hopefully ais on music does uber is adding new features just in time for the holiday season, we've got a new car class, uber X X L. This has extra space.
So this is for like when I was traveling with my kids, when they were Younger, we had like literally a thousand things we were bringing with us, two car seats, ten piece of luggage, baby booster, boom, boxy, whatever they call those things. I don't know there's so many things. So now uber excel.
So I remember even when we got like the biggest car you can get through uber to go to the airport, you still couldn't fit everything in there. We we had luggage on our laps. So now excel has room for six people and extra space.
So it's probably like those, like those taw hose are those suburbans I have like the extra extra back span spin van, yeah, you go something big. So uber XXL, if you're looking for extra trunk, extra room, extra room is seating that's at sixty airports worldwide. And then what else? Oh, they also have a feature, which i've already test, that this has been available my for a while.
So you know how when you're trying to get to the airport, you never know time to leave your house. Well, uber will let you just put in your flight number and they will say, here's what time we think we should pick you up and so kind of takes the leg work out of figuring out the departure time. Now I have a whole system.
now. I also get to the airport about five minutes before my flight boards, which I don't recommend. I actually pride myself.
The last time I got to the airport, i'm not kidding. I waited about seven minutes before reported and I I was last in line, which kinda sucked. But whatever is fine, but I pride myself on trying to ride that write up until the end.
I don't recommend IT don't do that. It's very stressful. But it's like a personal bragging, right, that I can be like A I got to the airport like one minute to spare.
No, don't do that. Get there with a lot of time, just fair, especially if you don't fly up. But yes, so I have a whole system where I will look at my boarding pass time and I will do this whole math equation.
IT takes like, takes like a Russell co. Wasn't him beautiful mind? Takes like IT takes like to figure out what time to leave.
For me it's it's like a White board with like thousands of dry race equations on IT for me to be like, okay, that's what time I leave to the airport. No, google, uber will figured out for you. Plan ahead.
That's with uber reserve. So that's if you're reserving a car, by the way, you gotta check for these promos on uber. There are doing a lot of promos these days, so check the act of you're in in compare gts lift because it's not always the same Price.
Eighty eight, rich, one to one, eight, eight, eight, seven, four, two, four, one, zero, one coming up. We're going to talk to wire cutter about some holiday deals. Well, come back to rich on tech.
Rich to miro here, hanging out. You talking technology at tripoli. Rich, one or one, eight, eight, seven, four, two, four, one, zero.
I see a holding. non. The phones will get back to those in just a moment. If you want to email me and go to the website, rich on tech, dt, T, V, have contact.
If you want a link to anything I mention, hit the light bub that will bring you to the show notes for this show. IT is episode ninety nine. Join me now is White cut or senior deals at the national burgh. Nathan, welcome to the shot. But this is a busy time of the year for you.
absolutely. Thanks for every rich is great to be here.
absolutely. So let sa let's talk wire cut. First off, explain. We talk about a lot I talk about IT a lot in the shops.
I I refer the reviews and ratings you guys have, I guess not. I guess that is ratings. You don't you don't give you a number rating but know you write stuff. Um so i'm a big fan. Explain what wirecutters all about .
yeah wirecutters is exactly what you that we review products, everything from blue to fat tones to washing machines and we have experts in each of those respected beats that, uh take a look at all the options out there uh we we test the stuff that we review. So it's not just we're not we're not giving your rating to unseen and ultimately are explain .
that because know there ever since you guys pioneer this model, every single newspaper, magazine, website has the best of lists. And they're really getting those a lot of the times by just literally looking at amazon and saying, you know, this has a thousand ratings, that must mean it's a good product.
exactly. Uh, there are a lot of sites out. There are a lot of review sites that are just basing things on amazon on reviews or or basing things, I mean, to be Frank, on on the work of people who have reviewed the stuff, uh, elsewhere.
Uh, where's White cutter? Uh gives that stuff either a in in the residences of our bitters or at our office and testing facility, uh, in york and we're actually testing the stuff out. I was there last week and um they were testing mash chairs, which was awesome. That was nice to to hit the sage chairs on a break.
That's a good data. Be in there. Why not we we had someone in the studio yesterday talking about the the the gone like that. The they've ve got a lot smaller over the years, but anyway, we were test that out.
So how was great? Okay ay, so wirecutters this time of the year, this is when all the cell star amazon already kicked off their black friday couple days ago, which means all the retailers follow suit. So what are the trends you're seeing this early on?
Yes, that's exactly right. Amazon kicked off on thursday. Uh, we anticipate uh, you know other retailers matching amazon Prices and many already have a walmart for movie starts their sale on a this coming monday. But what we're seeing so far are a couple of things.
Uh, one, we're seeing the usual collection of electronics that are always going to pop up this time the year h so that means headphones, that means televisions, uh, brand called high sense that we recommend, not necessarily a super well known brand, but it's it's a great value brand and tvs is offering amazing deals already. Um and we're seeing those via s by via amazon, Andrea, walmart for that matter. Um we're also uh kitchen planes, uh you know things like uh stand mixers are are already seeing Price drops to his driving stuff like that. Um and finally like we're seeing sort of those those households like uh airpower fires, um even even baby gear, uh you know personal glooming gear like razors, it's very typical to see all that stuff. Go and see this time year.
I've got the high sense and I love IT. Mine is great. It's it's perfect.
And that was so inexpensive, you know, when you used to buy A T V was like a big deal. And this was like, i'm not kidding. We bought a TV. I'd bought IT from the best by APP. And I was in my house delivered within mad, say, three hours as like, that is incredible.
Yeah, absolutely. And that's one of the things that you know most most listers probably already know this, but you really don't have to venture in the stores to to have a shopping experience during back friday of shopping online can get you a the opportunity to quickly compare Prices across retailers and also the leverage uh other opportunities to save, whether it's uh, wipe kind deals coverage where we were highly the best Prices out there or whether it's, uh, you know, Price tracking application tions.
Uh, a few of those that I personally use are called kia and camel, camel, camel. And what those allow you to do, uh, is they allow you to throw an amazon U R L into a search field and and basically it'll give you a bar graph of a or a line graph rather of the the Price of a given item over time. And so so you're seeing like you're seeing this T V was nine hundred dollars, you know, three or four months ago and eight hundred dollars two months ago and finit seeing that significant drop to six. Um we always expect electronics to go down every time, but what we're looking for are those, uh, pacific ave drops that are that are more significant than they would be other times a year.
Yeah you can go by the the retail Price to the M S R P or whatever the Price state like the original they have listed there, I mean ninety nine percent the time nobody y's ever paid that Price for that product. So it's Better to look at these Price drop charge to see has this Price gone down before. And that's a good way to like kind of look forward. Like for instance, if you have your eye on a product and you pop that you are all until like keeping or like you mentioned, camel, camel, camel and you notice that that this thing never goes on sale, you might as well just get IT right now. If you notice it's been on sale a bunch of times in the past and you now it's time i'll wait for you to go on sale.
Yeah, absolutely. I think that um you have the capacity to anticipate when certain things are going to go on sale. And there are hater's that like I can identify and looking at a keep chart where you just like, okay, this goes on sale every other month and it's on the every other month to twenty percent off.
And to your point, uh, you know S R P and generally like the percentages that retailers put out there in terms of the amount off in the season, really it's not something that I would trust. Uh, you know retailers is gona throw out a huge number like forty percent off, uh, fifty percent off. And and those deals are really few and far between.
I would say the average amount that we see off and this is you know these are deals that we have bet, these are deals that we verify our our great ones for our readers on amErica s usually falls between about twenty and twenty five percent off. That's that's the best uh, sort of you the medium best. And then only very rarely do we see Better than that.
So if you're seeing something like right now, my kid wants a food composter, I don't ask me why, but this is what he wants and it's saying it's forty nine percent off, I guarantee. I bet if I put that into camel, camel l camel, I I bet that thing has gone on sale before. This is not really forty nine percent off IT probably doesn't sefer the list Price the rest of the year, i'm guessing.
Uh, that's right. Uh, especially like I imagine that might be that vitamins s, uh, F, C, fifty. I recovered that I think at some point. But h it's uh that's that's a model that sees somewhat regular sales. Uh, there is a new one that came out, I believe, uh, made by a different brand in recent uh in recent months and and those are likely to see regular sales during during windows like this, whether it's uh by friday uh, or amazon's events at other time in the year.
And this is the thing like this is the time to buy because after cyber on monday, you're probably not going to get as good deals through the rest of the holiday shopping season. Is that usually true?
yes. I think you know my personal feeling about black friday and IBM monday is that it's IT really is one of the last windows where you'll see great Prices across retailers, not just the big retailers, but smaller, smaller retailers get in on the act as well. So if you are somebody who prefers to shop smaller, uh, that's an option. Or if you prefer to shop at direct consumer retailers that um you know like like mattress uh retailers, for instance, that that often are the only place where their product is available. Uh, this is a great time to do so and then the sales are going to APP ate uh, and we're not going to .
see them again for a second. Now you are you're following um you know shopping every day. Are you following this new network documentary? If you heard this thing, the that one about shopping.
I don't know it's called by now .
the shopping conspiracy. Y and of course, last night I was like, you know, number two on the top list of a netflix stuff to watch because of course they put IT out. You know they put IT out right now during the holiday shopping season. So it's all like the apparently it's like I don't know, I haven't watched IT, but apparently it's like controversial because it's like basically all the ways that these retailers are getting you to like buy stuff, which well.
I will definitely check IT out like one thing that I can say from personal experiences that these retailers are definitely trying to create what I would describe as a false sense of urgency. Uh, during this time year where they really uh they really make you feel like, uh, you know whether is with a count clock or whether it's with one of those bars that tells you how much of a given product is left um that that you have to grab IT right now and you have to do so without comparison shopping, without taking a more measures sort of research based approach. And I would discourage people from doing that.
I think that people can can you take a beat really think about whether this product fits their their life, but also take a beat to assess the Prices uh, that are out there on the internet, uh, to access uh, comparable products and to consult review sites, uh, to see if this product is something that's quality first and foremost, you know. IT doesn't matter how good the deal you get. If something is of an infer quality.
yeah, that is sure. They do definitely put that. I will say the deals are there. There are deals. And in the thing is, if you had your eye on something, that's when you can tell it's a deal because for me, I keep a lot of stuff in my amazon sort of car or that saved for later. And so I have an idea of the Prices.
But if you're just going on these websites and you're to see and you know sixty percent of eighty percent of seventy four percent off and you I ve got to get that it's not always that that's the case. And so I think following things is probably a good thing to do and also um keeping those things in your car. All right, Nathan, borrow from my wire cutter. Why are cut com is the website? I know you going to be busy this weekend.
absolutely. It's in one time dot com forward slashed wire tor and you can find our black friday coverage we're covering. All the early sales are right now, we're cover in sales from other retailers aside for man was on the force of the sale i'm going. So thank you.
appreciate. Oh, come back to rich on tech. Rich to mirror here.
Hang out you talking technology, the phone line for the show. A D A rich, one or one a day. Seven, four, two, four, one, zero, one, a.
Let's see the email for the shows, go to the website rich on tech dot T, V, and hit contact that will bring you right to my email address and whatever you write there, we'll go to my inbox. And by the way, I know you're wondering what was the high sense TV that I bought. IT was the U A.
And IT served me well. We've had IT for many, many months now, and I am happy to report that the Price is exactly what I paid still. So it's not any cheaper.
But here's the thing and here's the trick. So it's saying the TV is nine hundred dollars, was fifteen hundred, save six hundred doors. Nobody, nobody really is paying fifty hundred hours like I paid nine hundred six months ago. So but as a great TV love IT ed, in lost vegas, your room with rich I D D. Welcome to the show.
Thank you, rich. I appreciate your time and your help. So i've been a long time windows user and buying, by the way.
Rich, oh, my wife sets up my e mail. Was his hot mail okay, in the new narrator, so you can read IT to me. And we recently switched over to uh to mac. My wife got a mac mining and I am considering, you know he wants to go back to windows, which is likely then I don't want to send the machine back if I can use that, but he is tried and is that narrative doesn't work under mad to read my email, so I wouldn't do me any good already. Well.
there's a couple of ways that are built into the mac Operating system. And one of them is there are mostly in the accessibility area of the computer. So I would look in there and see, but there's there's one called spoken content. And so now you can select the text in that email and there's a short that will read that text to you. So that number one, so basically you just highlight any text and say, you know use the shortcut kia and read that out you so that number one.
what I have to do that for every email or is the company no.
it's every email because that's a one time thing. So and the second one is voice over, which is similar, but it's kind of like the same as that, that as you, it'll just start reading out whatever on the screen that's a little bit more automatic, as I understand IT. So that .
thing and.
Yeah I think so because I i've seen that feature and action and I think I just starts to read everything that's on the screen that number two um the other thing is know there's a third party APP and i'm trying to see but this is the problem of this is that it's IT looks like the same thing where it's just you have to feed the text into IT, which is natural reader. I'm sure you ve heard of that one. And there's also a speed fy, which is similar.
They're both natural reader in speech fire or both kind of like natural speech to text program. So speech of fight might actually be a pretty good way to do IT. Let me just see i'm trying to see if they're like a specific email, a way to yeah text to speech email reader yeah I think I mean, the problem is again, with this, you have to you have to put the text into the program for .
IT to work right now. How would that work? I mean, if i'm trying them, I just moved on to e. Mail now and I opened them up and then I pay, uh, I have down to go the next email. Now if I either leave the one that i'm are just red or I just leave the one of the year, but then I go down to the next one, right?
And then when you go to the next one, you'd have to highlight that basically all these systems are looking at. You have to highlight the text for you to read a to out loud, right?
So that's a problem.
The other thing is, what about using the outlook APP? Like, have you tried that because they have a read, a loud functionality in the outlook APP that i've gotta see if it's on the mac side of things, but that is a functionality inside the, i'm looking heroic. This is windows.
They just came out the new mac version of outlook. And so i'm wondering if OK, here we go. Hold on.
This looks like you may have IT. Yeah, they do have a read loud. Yes, so I would use that. Can you can you down? Can you .
download the yeah.
this is it's like a it's functionality built into outlook and so it's called read aloud. And so if you download the outlook out, outlook APP on your computer and you log in with your hotmail account, then I would just use that that read aloud functionality.
okay. I think that's .
GTA do IT I think that's probably the best way to do IT.
Okay, sounds good. Thank you very much.
which I recited you. All right. Let me know if that works out for you at semi email.
okay. Thanks, thanks for this thing there in last vegas. Eight, eight, rich, one or one, eight, eight, eight, seven, four, two, four, one, zero, one. If there's one thing i've learned to doing the show is that there are many, many ways to solve a problem, and not every way is the best for everyone. So there's always and there's always, always a way that I don't know, i'm not aware of.
And with another reason I love this shows because someone is bound to email and say this is the best way to do this, or this is what works for me. And so I really enjoy the community aspect of this show, that we can find solutions for people that that go beyond just what I can do on the fly here, or my knowledge base. Okay, if you stop an iphone with the eight on IT, this is and we're talking really, really old at this point because we're up to I O S eighteen.
So you're talk to in ten years ago, but now there's a lot of people out there if you're still have an old iphone with IOS, a eyeo oud backup. PS on this phone are not only going to stop, but they're going to be deleted as well unless you update. So starting december eighteen th, twenty twenty four, I cloud backup will not work on iphone running I O S A or earlier.
So if you can update your device to IOS nine or no where you've ttl do that, and if you can't update the device, like if IT doesn't update past I O S A, you're still using IT. Somehow you can back up your phone using a mar PC. So that is what what I would do.
But again, you you're talk and really, really older this point. I O S I mean, let's say I O S A release state you're talk in twenty, fourteen, ten years. So if you're still rock in which you may just be aware, you've got to fix your eyes club.
You ve got to get that back up somewhere else. Eighty eight, rich, one, one, eight, eight, eight, seven four, two four, one zero one, rich. On tech dot T. V.

Now welcome back to rich on tech. Rich, a miro here hanging out, you talking technology at triple eight? Rich, one of one that's eighty eight, seven, four, two, four, one, zero one.
Coming up this hour, we've got the creator of big P E. A I per pi SHE is going to explain how A I is taken over the kitchen. And so probably tell me how to say your last time Better than I just pushed IT.
No IT happens. I'm going to tell you about the best recipe apps too. But I was I was looking around.
We had edin lost vegas asking about reading allow the emails and IT looks like that feature is not available. More on the outlook for mac. I don't think got rid of IT or what that IT is not there.
And I switched there's a new version of outlook and there's a legacy outlook. As I looked in both, they're just that read aloud button is just not there for some reason. Now I know on the smart phone, you can look on the helps site and he says that they've gotten rid that on the smart phone.
So I don't know why. Why would they get rid of something that's this helpful? Now I did try to see what you could do with an email and turn off.
You know, you can select text and just built in. You can write, click. And he says, speech, start speaking.
California ranks first. It'll just read itd. No, how to stop IT.
Now that is reading. Anyway, you could do that. But again, ed said that he needs IT to like read. So there's got to be a program where IT IT kind of knows like OK f advance to the next email.
I want to hear this email out loud and IT might just be specialized accessibility software versus what's built into the machine. All right. So I got an email from, gosh, I got I don't know the person's name, but they were in alama.
And let's say they asked for a recipe management APP, and they said that they basically find a lot of recipe on tiktok and instagram, and they want to save them in an APP. So of course, what did I do? I downloaded one, two, three, four, five, at least five apps to see which one I like the best.
So i'm going to go over them mella. Ml a, this is an apt just for IOS and mac. Now all these apps pretty much work the same way. They're free for a limited amount of recipe.
So what happens is you start using IT, you save your recipes, you you like IT, and then all of you gets your tensor, your eleven or twelve recipe, and it's, I got ta pay up if you want to add this one you like, I wish I would to know that at the beginning. So now, you know, so mella a gives you ten recipes for free, five dollars for more simple interface. Didn't work with the instagram recipe, but IT worked with the food network recipe.
So milla is good if you have IOS. And mac only wasn't the best of the bunch. But, you know, IT worked. Recipe keeper, this one has been around forever, I think recipe keeper and paprika, the two like O G recipe keeper apps. So the recipe keeper works on all platforms, but all the apps resolves separately.
So if you have you, my computer and an iphone, you'd have to buy those two apps separately, which is a little odd, free for up to twenty recipes, but lets you scan recipes from PDF photos or websites. I did work with scram recipes. now.
This website is probably handy just to have in generals called just the recipe dot com. So you know how you go to a recipe websites got all the cluttered stuff on the recipe page. Will you pop the URL into this website and and cleans IT up? And so it's completely free.
Scotland android APP, scotland iphone APP. But here's a thing, if you want to print out the recipe that bugs you to pay, you can't even do IT. So you just have to look at your screen.
It's fine because it's nicer, cleaned up, but you have to love your screen creon. This is apple devices only free for up to ten recipes. The best design of the bunch.
Really, really nice design. And I love how IT puts all of this step by step instructions on their own screens. You can flip through really easily.
And IT supported a lot of different ways of importing recipe. I really like this one, but it's only available for iphone. So I can't really I can't consider that one.
Mommy, this one ended up becoming my favorite. So IT works on IOS and android got a great design. I you can use this for free, but they also have twenty books for the lifetime of the APP, which I think is very fair.
A lot of the other actives to pay per year when everything worked, the tiktok instagram euros worked. Importing recipe was a little monkey at times, didn't always work perfectly. But they also have a browser er extension.
So overall, if you're going to download one of these apps, I think umi is the best one to download. Now, after I did this story, I found another APP that I actually really, really like. And I actually think it's the best, but it's called flavorous F L A V O R I S H A I.
And this hits all of the the benchMarks I want available for IOS, available for android, is available on the web. It's got A I built in so I can import a recipe. And IT just looks incredible.
But here's the catch. IT is expensive. It's five box a month. Or fifty dollars for the year and you're going to get hooked on this. If you you download this APP, you're going to fall over this because it's so good. It's so good at importing recipe from images.
So if you have grandma's old recipe, sit there on a piece of a paper printed out, you could take a picture that and IT will import IT perfectly. But again, you only get five of those a month or I guess five in general. And of course, you're going to burn through those pretty quick.
And then you're going to want to pay and fifty thousand years kind of a lot if you add up over ten years, do the math is kind of a lot of money. Let's see here. Let's let's, let's go to it's got to carla, carla and coast amasa. Carla, you're on with rich work.
How nice to talk to you. Thank you so much .
for taking absolutely .
no vision. I have been for like seven years, and I have been very proactive in finding out everything I can to get because I can't drive anymore and read anymore. And so the most recent thing that I discuss that I wanted to pass along, if nobody else knows about IT, I have a pixel 7 pro cell phone, and that's my main stay. I discovered that all I do is ask my phone to read what's on the screen.
yes.
And IT reads what is on my .
screen? Yes, yes, this is. This is one of the reasons why I really like the the android side of things.
They've a lot of little things built in like that. Now I think iphone has some more stuff. But yes, you can ask your phone to to to read what's on the screen. And would you say, just, hey, google, read what's on my .
screen or no, I don't. It's not apple doing IT, but my phone is a google phone. But all I have to do is say, read what's on my stream and then IT kind clicks and IT and then IT eats what like a menu again for my screening.
S okay. And you're not using the voice over feature or the the talk back feature. This is just you just say, hey, google.
right? It's not to hey, google.
yeah okay, what you've waking up a little I just .
said read was on my screen. I am my read. What was on the screen?
Interesting okay. Well, that's another way to do IT. There's also a an APP on android that's free and I believe it's called the uh, google reader.
Uh yeah here is so um so there are so many ways to do this. But yes, so on google you can say you can say, hey, google read this page, read IT or read aloud. You can do that.
There's also the the feature. I just mention the talk back feature and then there's also an android reader. There's an APP.
So um you can go into uh google play and search for uh reader. And I believe that the APP of the verified I going to look at up but it's a cool APP. It's an accessibility APP that works really well and we'll read any page.
And then of course, you know you there's built in systems to do this as well. But there are yeah where IT let's see here. And of course, there are speech of fine.
I think there are so many ways to do this, but there's one that google makes that is probably the best one because it's it's completely free. And here is it's called reading mode. So if you have an android phone, just go to a google play and search for reading mode.
And this is completely free and not only doesn't read out loud what's on your screen, anything IT also makes IT easier to read on the screen. So IT puts everything in like very simple big font and IT highlights as is reading. So it's a real it's a hidden gem.
And I know why know people don't talk about this more, but it's called reading mode on google play. It's made by google. So when you're looking up this APP make sure you yet the one that is made by google.
All right? I'm going to put all these links on the website. I go to rich on tech.
Dat, T, V. Hit the light bob icon up at the top. If you want links to this show. IT is epsom ninety nine. We have shared a lot of great stuff here.
I'm going to put the recipe apps on there so you can get that link as well while you're on the website. Definitely sign up for the newsletter that is free comes out basically every saturday. So there's a new, new issue right now.
And if you want to email me, you can do that under contact. I've got the feedback today is just overflowing. I know we're going to be able to get to all of IT coming up.
We are gona talk about how A I is impacting the kitchen plus more tech news or right after this. Welcome back to rich on tech. Rich, the mirror here hanging out, you talking technology.
The website for the show is rich on tech. Dat, T, V. And I just got email from rodd in ukip a, he said, what about cortona for outlook? Yes, that is.
That is the way to read IT on windows though. So yes, windows has IT easily. The mac does not for some reason.
So I guess you have to use max, you know if that is a little bit different because if they're built in tools that you have to use. But I thought they had that read aloud future. I guess they don't.
You've got a blue sky. Lot of people going to blue sky. I am on there at rich on tech last week.
Know what? I have a thousand people on there. What do I have now? Thousand people? Just kidding.
No, i've got one point seven k that's not that much. I've seen a lot of people blow up on this blue sky. I guess their skies are blow than mine.
But here people are using this APP called a blue arc. Thank you. People are using this appalled blue art to move their entire twitter history to blue sky.
why? Like you're twitter, not that great. You do not need to pay this is yet to pay a fee like I don't know whatever IT is.
It's not worth that your tweet are not that exciting, especially if there's something old that you were Younger and Young mind IT, yeah, I might come back and by chain, but I like the way, think, delete, just to go head and delete your tweet, history, twitter, anybody. When I first started twitter, I can, I will tell the story. I would delete my tweet right after I wrote IT, because I thought that tweet were fleeting.
So I would write something like going on today, showed to talk about technology in the next seven minutes, and I delete. I was done. There's why? Why do you need to see that when i'm one with that? And then i've realized that that was kind of silly.
Anyway, you don't you need to bring your tweet over instagram, need a fresh start. They have a new feature that let you wipe your recommendations. I love this is called recommendations reset.
IT basically gives you a clean start. So all the stuff, you know, you know how on instagram or facebook yet tap one thing and all of your posts start looking like that one thing. So my wife SHE tapped one Christmas cocktail that looked interesting.
I think IT was called like a moose Martini or something, or a rain deer tinie. Whatever IT was. IT was cute, had like gluchow berry, you know, on IT little spray of something next thing, you know, every single thing in her feed is a Christmas cocktail and he keeps shown them to me.
It's like rude ofs ruby red, you know, great fruit during out, whatever this you know, i'm saying they all have these funny little names, so this would be perfect for her. So recommendations reset is going to be inside a instagram. The're testing IT right now is rolling out.
You may have access if you want to check, it'll reset everything. So won't you know your followers will be there, all of your stuff, but it'll just reset the algorithm so that'll start giving you like new stuff in your feed. So if you go into your settings, it'll be under content preferences.
So let's see if I have IT. Yeah okay, settings, content preferences. And so far I do not have IT.
So rolling out that means that's another word for like you may get IT in the next six months or so. Now row blocks also rolling out some major updates to safety and parental controls. And i'm i'm not a fan of a blocks because I just don't like IT.
I do not like a blocks. My kids like IT. I do not. I think it's I think it's worthless.
Honestly, i'll just say I think that it's it's a waste of time to play these games. Are you like robo ck? I do play robot, my good daughter and night heavily.
Okay, fortnight OK fortnight has become in the newer rob locks OK. Four night has been around for a long time. So the row blocks, yeah, I mean, look, and nothing against the developers of robots games, which are other people know this is crowd source, but they're kind of nonsense.
Y, let's be honest, I feel attack you. You're not accomplishing anything on a robotics game. No, there.
Thank you. The bell. Yeah, we need a bell for that.
Now with a intendo game, you know, you you have a beginning, a middle and an ant. You can beat the game. You can.
But these games just go on and on. And quite honestly, kids get addicted to them. They do, and they, and they can stop playing.
And the games use tactics to keep them in. So with all that said, I get IT millions of kids play these games every single month. We're not going to stop this from happening.
It's gna happen. But I do like some of these things that that rob locks has built in to help parents manage IT. So now you can remotely manage your kids account, you can set up screen time limits, you can monitor their friends list, and you can do IT through your account.
So if you're an adult, you can say, this is my kids account, and you can go into your computer and do this. Now I will tell you in this one, I like your blocks. When I told my kid I was doing this, he was like, no, you're not.
I'm going to give you access to my account so that the other side, and I think I have a feeling that he is already set up to be his age is older than he really is course, because you can also say the games that your kids can play, what maturity level. And I have a feeling my kid is already set like seventeen because he's like did not take away my mature games and like how you even know that was a possibility. He just know taking away your system yeah, well, good luck.
Yeah, it's OK. Kids under thirteen can no longer send direct messages outside of games. That was a big problem. You have like adults, like interacting with kids and that's never necessarily good thing on these games. And they're going to have Better labels for the, you know the nature of in game experiences.
So right now, they are just labeled like one way they're going to label them in a more direct ways. You understand exactly what's happening in the game. And I will say most of the games that I see my kids playing on this is pretty innocent.
Some of them are not. But again, I think any these parental controls is a good thing. All right, that's all blocks.
Amazon unveiled the echo show twenty one. This is the the largest smart display yet. They had the echo show fifteen. Now the twenty one has a twenty one in screen. This is huge, four hundred dollars.
And it's it's got a Better camera, Better audio and built in compatibility for your smart home devices, including matter, zg b and wifi 6e。 So this acts a photo frame calendar to do list and can just watch a man, basically A T, V screen at this point, that size four hundred box. The echo show fifteen is still available.
Three hundred dollars, right? Coming up. We are going to talk about A I in the kitchen and talk about fixing up recipes and all the fun stuff you can do right here on rich on tech.

This is shown up or ninety nine. I know on the verge of something big, triple digits. My kid turned double digits and he was very excited. So triple, and that's a big deal even though this shows. I know it's that age, but hey, IT means to be bit around for a while and you can still get in.
Actually I i'd say you can get in on the feedback, but is so overflowing that IT took bobo, I mean, he was holding this thing up the stairs. He was a dragon. I mean, just thousands.
IT was so overfilled this week, so 演员 呗, very good. All right, joining me now in studio. But I pipi, yes, yes, I know why I stumble on your last IT doesn't look like it's spelled P E, P A.
J L.
There you go. Okay, bake bot, AI creator and also okay, see your website is bake space 点 com。 You've had this for many years and we're going to talk about sort of A I in the kitchen and how it's changing things.
I think it's done a lot for I mean every industry, but cooking especially. So tell me about bake space. First off, why did you come up with this?
sure. Also thank you so much for this opportunity to talk to your audience. I'm actually a fan as well. I listened to the show all the time. So to be here and see how the soup is being made as a, and to be bobo in person, that that was like the highlight, that was awesome.
I was a little weird that you, the disney pen and the marker to get his autograph. But now it's fine. Ah.
here's a celebrity. Here's a celebrity. So big space is A A recipe community.
So imagine, like facebook, for foods where people can come create their own online kitchen, upload their own recipes and swap them with the community of people who love to cook and bake. So it's not just backing, it's cooking. It's grilling. People make, you know, homemade pet food.
Just talking about yesterday, that actually happens.
Yes, all the he was like.
dad, we should started youtube page where we prepare pet food. I like, you know, I barely want a pet.
Well, people want to share their recipes. Recipes are all different types recipes, and they come from all different places. Grandma, mom, you know your favorite friend, know you go at me to friend and you're like, this must be is amazing. You read a cookbook, you're like, well, this is fantastic. Um in two thousand and six when we launched, there really wasn't anything that connected home cooks in real time.
Love of things were blogs or um foreigners and also general social networking sites like my space where was like so big people would be like, how do I find the people that aren't there what i'm in do and so we launched fake space. And over the years, we've done a lot of big innovations. You we launched to cook book platform.
We made profiles so that people can highlight their recipes. We also allowed them to sell their own cookbooks. And as I was looking at A I and thinking about how home cooks actually cook, most of what you see right now are recipe generators where it's like they've let you select chicken and you coffee and whatever and it's let's see what it's .
going to make check I hey.
baby and then IT spits out something and you're like, well, I need to make a modification and you're like, oh, no, IT only lets me make three recipes a month. You like, all this kind of sucks. So I actually looked at, we've had no many years of working with homecare ks directly.
And i'm like, how are home cooks actually cooking? They're making modifications. They're asking cooking questions. They have a guess who's coming over, who's glue and free and are like, well, I wanted make my recipe.
but then how do I convert IT inside?
Bob is going be sad with the glue free.
I like all the thing. I mean, here's we are joking, we had a dinner party and legitimately like you're literally asking everyone like what's your deal? What's your deal? What's your by the end, the night we are drinking water was the only thing we could all well.
usually come to one of my parties. I I will I will treat you right um but a lot of people you know when they're making recipes, you know they might go online and see like oat for an egg substitute.
I can use apple sauce but it's like, well, how much for that? Cip, so when we started thinking about A I and this like smart kitchen, we started realizing that if we can empower home cooks to be able to go, I have a question I have I want to make this recipe that just came to me or I have a great recipe for my grandmother, but I don't cook with large, like how can I be closer and make this recipe? You know? So that's why we launched bake bot and big pot is available on big spaceship com.
It's totally free. It's it's in a couple of different places on the site. It's on every page as a pop up chat where you can just like ask your question, have a created a quick recipe um it's great for emergencies when you're like cooking and you accidentally you know you forget that the word divided is next to an ingredient and you're like, oh no, I just put the entire amount of sault like, what do I do? Do I have to change my baking or my cooking? And that is a great place to use that.
But then we also have a whole sweet of tools that allow you to upload recipes and allow you to really dive deep into into recipe development. So if I have an idea for something, I want to make pink cupcakes that are tailor swift theme and that have gluten free frosting. It's like, how am I going to find that on the web? Like, that's what my daughter wants for her birthday.
You can put something like that in, and I will start talking to you. It'll start making the recipe perfectly. Once you make the recipe, I will also make a really cool picture as well.
And then the the thing that we're really the proud of is that you can actually IT saves IT as a real recipe that's share able. So it's not just like in a thread somewhere on a ChatGPT, you know know where you're never going to find IT again. And you can't really guess you might be able to share the thread, but IT doesn't .
really IT doesn't yeah you can you .
exact exactly but but you with your community, with your friends and family, it's like it's hard for them to see that. Plus with r GPT, when you ask for a recipe, IT doesn't know it's like a general list IT doesn't know .
that you are a home cook ah this you have kind of modified you know and we have there are many A I chap hots out there what you've done as you've crafted the prompts on the back and say, like here's the premature these are people that are cooking their home cooks you've given IT like these premature to work with. So it's not just chat, B T, general purpose, everything. This knows who you are kind of because he knows what you're trying to accomplish. What's like we've in .
powered IT to tap into all the coronary knowledge. It's not just I just need any kind of recipe. It's I need something that's good.
I need something that understands cooking. I need something that that might be based on what my taste, my likes are so I can really refine that experience. And you don't have to say, hi, i'm A, i'm a chef.
I need you to create this because I i've been attended searches on with recipes on some of the general. ChatGPT and other sites, copilot lot of are really good. But when you start looking at how they they actually display the recipes, sometimes it's missing ingredients, sometimes it's missing direction.
Sometimes IT has no calorie IT has no serving and you don't have to do that with big bot IT. Basically, you just say I need to cut quick recipe that's billa and gluten free and not free and whatever is you need. And IT will give you all that information that you would Normally expect in a recipe. And then if you make a modification, it'll actually change IT to the size that you need at the time you can go, oh, I know what is a good replacement, but I don't know how much of that to put in. So it'll actually look at the recipe and go, oh, you only need a half a that's very difficult in the ordinary world to be able to just look at an ingredient and go, what do I need to replace that?
We tested this with a so we did a segment for TV that will air monday on kt. L A. You're in the L A area, but we took A A handwritten recipe that was actually, I didn't realize incomplete. Like you only have the greetings. I didn't have the directions.
I was like something to do with this and I was like, bad.
Thank you. IT was for a ruber pie. And so IT was actually like grammar clans or something.
I don't know. I got IT for my sister in law, no, where he got IT. But we took that, we put IT into back. But I came up with the actual directions for the pie. But IT also, we said we wanted to make a vegan just to kind of test that out a little bit and a substituted apple sauce, I think for the ex, right? And we made IT when IT tastes a great IT was good.
I'd never had ruber before.
And so I guess my question is um but the color minutes remaining here, what impact do you think these are gonna who should use these tools?
You know what people who want to feel in powered in the kitchen, people who you know I can't say how many times i've looked online at a recipe and i'm like this recipe looks amazing, but I don't have these ingredients. Like what else can I put in place of those ingredients um if i'm in the kitchen and I I have a problem or I don't know what to make um or i'm trying to figure out I have ingredients and I want to make something at home and I want to kind like take my pantry and be like I need to get rid of this food before its spoils.
Um those are the type of people I think would really benefit um I when I think of big boat, I think of IT as imagine if you were in the kitchen and your best friend was in the kitchen with you and a professional chef and your grandma and they all were available twenty four seven to basically give you every ordinary answer, every recipe and to give you confidence so that you know that when you go into the kitchen, like even if you don't have three of the ingredients, you can still make the recipe and it's still it's gonna pretty different good. Um so that's the kind of community and it's also built upon a community too. It's not just like you, it's it's like a generator where it's like going somewhere and then you don't know where it's going. It's actually built on big space stock com.
So such a change days when wouldn't have an ingredient aster neighbor he can I get a cup of .
sugar or pinch and like, I have to go back to another page and like, and then actually gave us the idea because people are leaving comments on pitch, us going, you're missing an ingredient or you're missing something and I will actually fill in the blank. Like when you're on the chatbot, you can say, I love this recipe, it's chocolate. How can I make a vanilla? And IT will make IT for you in the chat, IT will change IT for you. And if you're logged into big space, you can just say save and and a safety .
account that is well, so again, you've got a big space dot com. Is the website backboard A I? Is the A I version of this. You've got chat if you just want to ask a question.
You've got a recipe maker where you can actually make a recipe from scratch or optimized one, i'm guessing pantry magic, which is what you are talking about. You say, look, i've got garlic, i've got Green beans, i've got flower. What can I make?
You know, actually use what you have on hand. IT won't be like, I have three eggs and use one egg. IT will use three eggs to make sure that you use that up.
no. wow. And then you get the recipe saver, which just save your recipe and guessing. And then recipe uploader, which is what we used, and it's kind of fun.
IT also has a little mascot, the little big, fun, little big, but mascot, right? Fun stuff, all right? The bet a pie.
We should like, why change pf I yes, there to thank creator of bake space stock com. Check IT out bake space stock com if you want A I in the kitchen are coming up. It's the feedback, your comments up next.

If you want to tag me there later, ho is going to get america's first flying electric ferry. So this is the candela p twelve ferry. It's the first electric hydro foil ferry in the us. And I can tell you i've already taken a ride on this thing, which is really cool. Or at least there are prototype.
So if you're not familiar with a hydrophoby that uses underwater wings to sort of lift the boat up and have IT fly above the water, the wings are in the water, but the hole of the boat is actually up above the water. So that reduces drag. IT makes makes us much more energy efficient because its electric at zero mission at silent creates little to no wake.
And it's going to cut travel time in half at lake tahoe in california. So just thirty minutes from north to south shore, which could take two hours by car in winter. So this is going to come.
Looks like next year twenty twenty five, I took a ride on the candela, just the prototype boat up in. O, think that was two years ago. And IT was pretty cool in this thing.
This thing glides pretty fast and IT just looks neat and like IT starts out in the water. And then as IT gets to speed, IT lifts up out of the water for that efficient ride. And it's very quiet.
Let's get to the feedback. G, let's open IT up with the that said here, said write in Harris. My wife panicked when he opened her notes up and found nothing.
Thank you for covering the topic in the recent podcast. I did turn the sink off, which gave the scary warning that your changes will be deleted. My wife is nervous, but I told her not to fat.
I trust rich, turn the sink back on. Reboot the phone in wala. All the notes came back.
Thanks, as always. I'm glad that worked out for you. Christine ridson, hey, thanks for your kind words.
I'll be listening as always this weekend. We all appreciate your expertise, good humor and wonderful ly down to earth style. Thank you, Christine.
Appreciate that. Shaan right. And I did not pay her a thing. Shawn write in a tip about google photo storage. When I upgraded from my pixel 4a to a pixel 8 pro, I didn't want to lose my unlimited photo backup.
I discovered that as long gest photos are uploaded from the four a, they don't count toward storage even if taken on device. So I quick share photos from my pixel late pro to my old phone and let IT handle the uploads. Now I have unlimited storage and photos backed up on two devices.
Sean, I love your hack. And yes, I have an old pixel, the original one that still has the unlimited storage. When pixels first came out, they promised unlimited google photos storage.
And of course, that went away. But yes, if you upload the photos from an old phone, you still get that unlimited storage. So I had this whole set up as I am going to use, think sink thing and like, sink all the pictures.
And then I like, I just pay for the storage. But glad you're doing IT pat, right, son? hello.
As a cat owner, I paid special attention to your segment on cat track kers. Surprisingly, you failed to mention radio frequency tracking ers. That's what my cats wear.
The company called tab cat. Light and sound from the controller indicate when you're headed in the right direction, and the signals intensify as you get closer. No subscription required.
I use IT every night. Batteries are long lasting, looks like its range of five hundred feet. And it's about one hundred box for the tab.
Cat, if you wanted, check IT out. Agnes rides in. Hey, rich, i'm definitely not a tacky. However, as I listen to every saturday and always learn something new, just heard you talk him about the ora rame you've got for your dad.
My kid got one for my husband and me a couple of years ago, and we love IT. IT sits on our kitchen table that brings a smile to our faces, seeing memories of our kids and grandkids. And yes, all of us add to IT, which makes an amazing to see pictures.
We in add, i'm actually looking at my ora as I typed this email. Thanks for your great show and information. Thank you, agnes.
Let's see here. Let's see to the two. Oh, my goso. Many of these things. Okay, deal, deal.
Right then I heard your broadcast about A, I generated papers. I tested a book I wrote years before A I existed, tested IT through, please, some tools. And surprisingly, a flagged as one hundred percent AI generated.
Interestingly, when I dubbed IT down to my writing to a six rate level was recognized as human writing is suggest, called students writing sophisticated aper could falsely be accused of cheating like your show. Very informative. Let's see, ryan.
Oh, we ve got to get this in for ryan. Ryan from san anna IT is my birthday on episode ninety nine. Can you give me a shutout on the radio? You've done a good job for taking over for leo.
Thanks, ryan. Consider this your shout out. Happy birthday body, ryan from santanna. Enjoy the day. There you go. Let's see here, oh, my g JoNathan, right in JoNathan from pittsburgh, about the color who wouldn't have enough storage to update to I O S. My first thought was to suggest, enabling, optimize iphone storage for photos.
By the way, I always enjoy when you suggest cool accessories for the tech we already own, those little things can make a big difference in how we enjoy our devices. Yes, they can, JoNathan. And yes, you're having trouble with doing something on your phone.
Optimized storage does let apple optimize the physical storage on your phone. Let's see here we have time for one more quick one. Sam says, I hear people ask what web camps all the time in the show.
One option you haven't heard, haven't heard you mentioned is using an old phone. I use an older phone in a phone holder behind below my mirror and get a decent view of my drive. Wondering if there's something I need to be aware of, can also be used as a home security camera with the Alfred APP.
I used that to monitor my hotel room in a house. Okay, that's going to do IT for this episode of the show links everything I mentioned on the website, rich on tech out TV on on social media at rich on tech. Thanks so much listening.
