Hi, i'm cnbc producer Kitty cramer today on squad treasury watch wrapped up wall streets candidate for the trump cabinet Scott vent named secretary nominee this is .

from the big.

huge campaigns and a lot of people, including elan, musk and others, trying to made to do other things very publicly. He came back to what he felt comfortable with and .

the three big sports wins this weekend with a man who owns each team, a try vector of winning mark wilf on the orlando pride first championship win.

having players like mara, the greatest women sports soccer athlete ever, but just women sports in general. I think people are rolling around IT and want to watch IT. And it's just the great product.

the pride's brother eos team one, two and the vikings nail bitter that maybe didn't have to be so exciting.

Seven points and thirty seconds crazy.

plus the rest of today's stories that got us quaking. Click IT at the box office a tennis team rivals and thought for holiday gift ideas.

Are you a give certificate guy?

No, there's this new vacuum cleaner. I got my iron.

It's monday, november twenty five. Six pod begins right now.

stand backed by, and three, two, one, two, three.

Good morning, everybody, and welcome to school box right here on cnbc. We're wive from the news ck market side in time .

square with a pick to be his treasury secretary. This happened over the weekend but was on squad box the morning after the election. You can say a tax cut in relationship and a care of is also inflation tary, right? So I I don't think that are necessarily inflationary.

We are going to see deregulation, which is disinflationary. We are going to see president trumper said he wants to get energy Prices down disinflationary. And then terrorists are a one time Price adjustment. Guys, lots of stories over the weekend about a what seemed like a knife fight playing out down and morale go for this specific role.

Mark roman, as we talked about last week, flying in from a china to meet with the president at one point, Kevin walsh, obviously in h the hot seat, as well as a possibility and a lot of back and forth. Ward lucknam, a well to be, became the commerce secretary, but clearly trying to drive a wedge between himself and scored basin. But IT appears that ultimately present trump chose chose basin in part because that he felt the loyalty from best in from the beginning um and that they can work best together.

Um it's going to be very interesting now to see um how we see best in and how he works with him and um how far he take some of these things. I think the one of things so interesting what you talked about on our program was the issue of tariff. But effectively, how you might actually have implement them on an effective slow basis so that you don't, uh, impact to the economy or some of the other kinds of steps that the president has talked about. So it's it's going to be an interesting one to watch.

He hadn't been on the we had seen a lot of them. And and IT was about A A month ago, I think when we had a man and he was on set, then we had a one to get, obviously. But the first time he was on, he was so outspoken and so plain spoken about supporting.

Today I think you were call, and I ask him, are you not on social media idea how come you're so brave to be able to do this as a business per? And then when we do have a series of from bash onus I D I, who can we get to take the other side? You know, cuban and scare moody and this, whatever.

And I was like, what about that guy? Percent would bring him back, please. So when they first decided that I would probably going to be him, and he was weird, because, remember, we were talking about who I was. We knew he was going to beyond ten minutes later and all the suddenly he was coming out the possible treasury second and I wanted him right from the start.

I just thought he was um I thought I had the right ideas about how to merge some of the this stuff is not classic conservatism with the environment that we're in right now where globally free trade has hurt the middle. You know IT has bored out a lot of what we used to make in in this country. So I I think there's a and then we we went through this unbelievable ah what would you call IT? I mean, we went through this guy, this guide.

this guy and this guide is finally .

keeps .

his where he was letting I think from the inning, these huge campaigns and a lot of people, including elan mask and others, trying to persuade him to do other things very publicly. He came back to what he felt comfortable with, somebody who had been with him for a while. You heard in that clip we paid played percent talking about things like things that wouldn't be counter inflation. Er he's got three, three, three proposal part of that to get three million more barel of oil a day that comes through on some of these issues. You heard him talking about those things and the idea of trying to merge together as you know these these trade know the terabits that come through IT sounds like he is going to be somebody .

who is looking at this is negotiation. We went through very good neck. I love her.

but there were other named too.

I know the .

nameless.

I was excited. And what returning to that I was like.

凯文, Kevin, wars, wars come back up in twenty .

twenty six h doit, I don't want IT. I like Kevin. I don't .

wanted to badly treasure right .

in the couple.

right? right? right? I just very independently, Kevin, very independent. And i'd hate see him have to you have to bend. And I don't know, I just think I don't know if that's a perfect fit, uh, or not.

But what think I know that a couple of years ago when jpl was first appointed, I think he wished obviously that he had him this guy is not going to be a uh, S C C. commission. Dan gallagher, previously served uh, as an S, C, C commission, has removed himself consideration to lead the c in this trump administration galaxy, currently the top lawyer at Robin n. Hood markets. He said, uh, it's an honor to have his name in the mix but he's committed to Robin hood, told IT opens IT up for cuban .

does did you see doctor Martin mercury at fda? He's someone we've elon.

So yeah, he's out there in terms of just his opinions. Yes, I know I turned out that some of the stuff .

you was that people were like to.

but he sent a lot of stuff that was not allowed on twitter in the old twitter .

and now he come back from a reasonable position .

was a time that wasn't considered good.

But I don't know is I don't know he's always .

quite this is as early as anyone's picked all fifteen.

I think he wants to the right to the president, like trump wants to hit the ground running around at the problems in his last administration, coming through trying to get things up and running. He is ready to go, got a agenda, things that he wants to get done. We should mention IT was a big weekend at the box office.

Universals weekend brought in one hundred and fourteen million dollars in north american ticket sales. That is the highest everyday you for a broadway adaptation. In the meantime, glad or two brought in about fifty five and a half million dollars.

That's below the expectations of sixty to eighty million. Both of those films are expected to continue to drive tickets. Is that theaters throughout thanksgiving and Christmas at two movies I want to see, and I haven't seen at the other one that I do want to see, two is disney mowana.

Two that comes out on wednesday. It's expected the hall in one hundred million dollars of for the five day thanksgiving period. And that's probably the first .

one went to we used to used to hear about, no, you used to hear about universal and they have now I know what so so there for .

the next.

I know, totally kidding. Totally kidding. Sometimes I I speak for all of us just in things you will too will never say just the sort of that's .

why we love you.

I'm only kidding. I'm only kidding. I like you. Hey.

but this there's always a smain of truth in the joke that I mean.

that's what I mean because you know there will come a day where we have absolutely nothing to do with with nbc universal that day is day is coming new. York city hotel rates a rose to an average of four hundred and seventeen dollars .

a night in september. Yeah.

yeah. Bring the bed bug repEllent. That's the the, U. K. Get a room for foot.

Well, you are think a manhattan versus maybe.

maybe, but that's the average. So for every six or seven hundred who stained in two hundred the two hundred dollar room, that's that's a half hour state .

typically yeah.

That is currently the highest monthly rate ever recorded in the city by analytics company coastal since IT began tracking in one thousand and eighty seven. Only place with more expensive hotels in septic was mali, new york city, a tourism officials estimate in nearly sixty five million people will visit the city this year, and that's just shy of the more than sixty six million people that visited in two thousand and fifty three pandemic. I'm feeling that, no, i'm feeling that that I gotta separate my allega views from from what the average person, when we think of where we would stay in new york.

But you're .

thinking of, right. And so can you ever say, can you imagine? And staying in a four hundred dollars here, that's one with, I mean, you get to make waffles for yourself at the .

crappy right, like just two blocks to us on .

on this .

that helping garden there's a days in. I mean, that's what we're talking about and that you .

can get on in the box part.

I get some when .

I ask you about .

all of garden, you had to go back thirty years when the waitress slipped to her her phone number the last time yet and you have not been at a days in and longer than that. So no, you I may have been born at night IT wasn't last night sarten, maybe on the road, maybe on the road. I have to have been in a holiday. Expect on the road when you, when you go. But you know, around here you have used to get like a like a Butler where you stay in one of those.

I think the bigger .

question I happened to to live in new york. And you know the only time.

the only time I notice when they put me up, when we, when they have us out until one or two .

in the more is a lot of money. Dollars is a lot of money.

The exchange manhattans is a huge expense.

That is an dc. All these places are much more, you know, you Better the road and then the four eighteen. By the time you're done at six eighteen, take every of things. Well.

that's the question. Is that is that an all in number?

The four 的 这个 included yeah。

I love the story, guys. A tennis dream team. Recently retired tennis great andy ory is now gonna coaching.

No vacuum of IT. This is he prepares to australian open in january. Both men are thirty seven years old.

They born a week apart in may of eighty seven. They met thirty six times as professionals, which of course, one twenty five of those matches muri beto. I think a wimbleton in the U. S.

Open in two thousand and thirteen, but is not a lot of sports where your biggest competitor, one of your biggest competitor, you go and say, you know what, you're so good and so great and I love you so much. I want you to be my coach. Take about that. No.

I believe a beautiful story. Yeah and reading and reading what murray wrote about him to just how he knew he was Better um that he brought this great thing out of him. I think the first time meeting him and things it's it's amazing to see these to do that. I didn't realize there are only a week apart.

Mary one wimbleton. Where was joke of that year? Where was joke that that year maybe got beat by someone else in one of the earlier round or something? Or I don't just wondering, he did get past in there because mary one, I don't know how many great did he would?

Just no, didn't OK. If you go back, I think in the open two thousand and thirteen, I thought that he actually beat in. I not be the final.

I don't know, I don't, I don't know. A good question.

just.

I mean, he was the pride of of, obviously.

of the great finals. They did play in finals .

twenty five .

hundred eleven out of eight and finals that they .

played eight out of eleven.

eleven to eight and seven, eleven.

eight finals. Okay, amazing. yeah. Their encounters .

were played with in majors with joke of violating eighty two and the majors.

eighty two in the majors. I mean, IT is a commentary on just what a complete beest jokers a joke of which is, you know, he's still probably would be hard to say he's even on the other side of his of skating .

camp together. I didn't realize .

that either no ones a coach who want still playing and I don't mean joke, which is gonna in more grand slams, don't if they I mean more grand slam events. And right, you ve got a distinguish shot. And because grand slam is something very specific, it's a grant. It's one of the events to go into winning A A total grancy.

Cheese will be .

next coming up on spot sports. After very exciting weekend, we will talk to the owner of the orlando pride right after the team on its first ever national women suffer the championship.

The nw sl is a growing brand and and we're excited about the future.

Both male sn N W S, L, that's mark wild. His family owns the pride is brother mls team two, which won its own match day later and he's also the present owner of another winner this weekend, the minnesota vikings, who pulled off a nail bitter win in overtime on sunday.

didn't have to be thrilling mark didn't have to be thrilling.

The business of tea motor ship. They return on investment in women, sports and much more on and off the playing field right after this.

You're listening to school pd from cnbc with joe knin beckie k. And Andrew ross sorkin.

Stand by joe.

this might kill and IT is is your update right? So murray, a one beat joker n two thousand twelve joke of IT in the open .

and then again when and then .

strictly .

O I know .

joke of which beat him in the australia, he one one more grand I think two thousand and sixteen in wimbledon and sam query had beat joke of each and in a huge upset one point in two thousand and sixteen. And then I guess muri muri beat somebody else. So in the final, me those, I think me those ranic R O N I C. So yeah, ran, I didn't realize you one, three or two wimbledon in one H U two thousand .

and teen australian open muri had to get through Roger federal to get to the final law, and he was exhausted. He was a five set at win over federal.

but he had to play .

federal .

right before he played joke of IT where away. So two, the three are gone. And and who knows how joke? How long joke? Maybe will be tom brady, you know, maybe will be playing.

When is forty five in is east? unbelievable. Tennis is different, of course. You, those hit back. Yeah, getting hit and I get hit once, be resigned.

Well, next, a good. And mark wealth is the owner of the orlando pride that when its first ever national women soccer league championship on saturday, he's also the owner of lando city soccer club, which yesterday punched its first ever ticket to x occurs eastern conference finals. And he is the owner of nfs, a minister of liking.

They, of course, pulled out a thrilling overtime when he gets the chicago beards yesterday. So mark, you're capping off that great weekend with a visit here to school box. Which of these three teams is your favorite?

Didn't have to be thrill. mark. Didn't have to be thrillings. Well.

IT was so exciting and are all our favorites and just winning so tough and professional sports, but so exciting and winning winning a championship in a parade later day in orlando, their first ever major league title. So really exciting.

And by the way, doing that just in a couple of years since your family purchase this club too. I why expand into other sports? We talk about IT all the time about how sports are kind of the future when IT comes to broadcasting, when IT comes to any of these streaming things, that there is a an audience and you can find them with the new ways of distribution.

What is on on the upward trend? As we know, it's just the great platform brings communities, people together and just the growth of IT is unbelievable. And just look at women sports in particular, over a billion dollar business now and the way it's grown and the way people rally around IT, it's it's remarkable .

the pride the women's club has really been had a huge amount of momentum since your family came in. And about IT, what what investments did you make in the business? How are you looking at this?

Well, everything's on the upward. Trans sponsorships take a revenue, and we're putting a lot of resources in terms of dedicated people a minute. It's it's the global sport having players like mara, the greatest women sports socks athlete ver. But just women sports in general, I think people are rolling around that and want to watch IT, and it's just a great product.

But I would drew you in .

just I think women's empowers. I think I think the fact that it's a it's a great, great sport and and the way sports brings people together, I think it's a great asset for the community and the way the fans rally around IT and and the fact we've great ownership around the table out the w sel. And having the best athletes in the world, you see the U.

S. Soccer team and how rally is every four years in the world cup. So all those things point to really great update trajectory.

I think that used to be the thing where you saw sports teams and people would say, okay, really wealthy people look at sports teams. And this is kind of their vanity play. They get to go and do something fun. They cheer the team they care about. But IT seems like IT has become much more of a business over the last five to ten years.

Would you agree with them? Well, IT, IT is a big business, but you have to love IT. And we happen to love IT. We grew up as big, big football fans, and that's what our engagement was to get into the minnesota vikings and be part of the nfl. And just to see how all these other sports leagues are growing, like the nw, sl, like mls, I think it's saying that people want to be in great places, have great experiences and sports, and being part of a sports experiences of fan is the greatest thing of all.

So what's the most important part of this, getting fans in the seats or getting distributions so that you can get even brought reach .

all of the above, sharing the great stories about our players and our clubs and and just growing everything, the business community recognizing its a great way to to talk about their own companies. So we partner with great companies like an in orlando, a with orlando health and an intern coal bank and the same in minnesota with U. S.

Bank and twin 7 earthians。 So we have great sponsors, great partners and our fans are our loving winning. And it's hard to when in all these leagues, but it's exciting when you do.

how do you go about picking the new franchise, the new teams that you got involved with IT? Did IT start with the sport, did IT art with the city? I just wonder, because there are so many up and coming new sports that are seen as powerhouses, whether that's f one, whether that's even something like pick ball, how do you go out and say, okay, this is where we want to be and y well.

it's a combination of the business metrics and and the community irons. So we've been fortunate in both minnesota and orlando to have great markets and and the ownership that the level of ownership with the pockets that can invest in these sports are the kind of ownerships that the leagues want. And that's where where the direction is.

There's a lot of expansion going on for incident or less as had great ownership. Now the nw sl looking to at a sixteen team. So there's a lot of good stories out there. And it's about investing wisely and making sure that the the community benefits and and the business grows.

So mls and the nw L S, that those leagues that they come to you you found what happened.

IT was a combination, you know, part of our ministry of vikings experience. We started poking around in our stating the possibility of getting into soccer and and we spoke to the leagues and we just learned, and we're around the game and saw the growth, saw the great stadium experience you get.

Of course, the nfl was a lifelong passion of us, but when we saw in soccer was just the great experience in the stadium and starting to get into the media landscape more and more. And so the growth trajectory was very positive. And and women sports, in particular, the nw sl, is a growing brand and and we're excited about the future.

Both ml lesson and oso, did you play soccer? Your kids play soccer. how? How did you come into this?

A soccer parent, our four kids all played soccer, so is something we were round. But everywhere I go, when I see team sports, and the way a community rally es around a team at something special, like I said, what's going on? A orlando, of course, the vikings.

Should we ever be successful enough to get to the ultimate oval embarq troth, we know what to find them will be like there. So um these are things that drive us winning championships, creating great fan experiences, being part of the community. Those are the kind of things that excite us as ownership and being stewards and having .

the privilege of being part of these franchise. If c north mean ten, one, ten and one, nine and two, eight and three, the top that's that's competitive. That that's parody, right? But as they are changing in the guard, you think whats the best team in the league?

F fels, we know nothing for long, really in the nf fell. So there's always parody and always highly competitive franchise out there. So we're in a very competitive division, and we're just really excited about our coach, Kevin oko, and crc R G M, in the way we're building. So you gotta a keep knocking on the .

door who figured out that that IT wasn't sam Donald, that was the jets that cause what happened .

for same Donald. That might be your view point.

If you're jfk, I not speak, he had so much for today. That's why they picked him. That's why they picked him, right? But I took your coach to bring that out of in you. I think he's what a year he said.

I know sam had a great year. He's what we're trying to build is a great culture where all our players can home their craft and really work on their game and and sams, a tremendous town. So we're fortunate came on here and Kevin o. Conner and our entire coaching staff have done a great job with sam. But it's really a whole team, team Operation that's that's .

great about something for another ambassador ship. I really do. He's like, please, i've go anywhere .

you can watch Marks.

which is .

laughing and just in exciting .

because and the ut came in the city and mean, what do they got if they have a horse shoe up there, their sleeve?

It's a full time job just focusing on the one team we got a minnesota, the nf. So that's all. Worry about .

mark very quickly of the three leagues where as a team motor, do you get the biggest return on investment?

Well, obviously nfl is is the premier brand in the world .

of sports and put in .

well personal, of course, the nfl, well, one league as as the other two leagues are. But I will tell you spend a lot of time on the soc colleague because as a growing brand, as a relatively new brand, I think the upper trajectory there is .

very strong as well. Some investment .

might be best there. Well, percents the absolute dose. Of course, the fl is the big out there. And like I said, it's a great privilege to be stewards and a franchise, the nfl and just to be in .

sports in general, just such a real .

majority owner. We our family is, yes, that's great.

I mean, got to be worth what now well.

I leave that what valuation?

I don't .

feel valuations. It's enough just following sunday day to day and make you sure we try to get to win every week, which is tough .

enough in the end. Thank you. I don't know what happened at the end of that game. I mean, eleven points and thirty seconds. crazy.

Next, experience holiday gift giving do you shop with your partner or for your partner? But then .

there's no surprise to IT.

All the Price i've had in the past have been bad surprises.

School pod will be right back.

Welcome back. This is squad pod.

You're watching school box on C N B, C, M S. Or can, along with joe carnon and Becky quick on this monday morning and shoppers now expected to spend an average ready for this six hundred fifty hours between black friday and cyber monday, that's up fifteen percent from last year. That's going a new survey that just come out today from deloitte.

For the entire holiday shopping season, consumers are projected to spend just under twelve hundred dollars. That's up eight percent from twenty twenty three. So i'm actually surprised about that. joe. Do you think that you spend given that you think you spend half, half the amount of money for the holidays just during that first thanksgiving day, uh, week at me? I'm always late with all the present.

That's why i'm thinking later.

I already have .

your present. I already have a can. Can I get back? Can I get? Can I get back you on how I do? IT.

I have no idea exactly what I mean. I, I needed to check. I need, do I need to check? I'm glad to have a role. I am I did and I don't mind the actual role itself because the other thing is, wait, no, I cover make sure things they have exactly um but the other thing is too hard, the finding things that don't you think you should let people decide what they really want under? You still try, you still try with polar.

you guy, no, no. I thought there's .

this new vacuum cleaner. I got my eye and and a patton. And yeah, exercise.

No, no, no, no, no, no. I wish I could put the joy and tell you. I wish I could.

I wish I could. I wish I could. I so I so .

you let the other person choose the gift. You do cash. I don't know how I feel that cash do that.

You got a it's it's a it's a very difficult ritual like a meeting with. It's like a court ship. Let's go to the mall.

What is IT you think? Let's go together. Let's fine get .

exactly what you want. But then no surprise .

to IT my all the surprise i've had in the past ve been bad surprises for for can you do IT you really can get something for that, that your wife would would not want to take back?

I tried to find, I tried to find out what he wants through other channels, and then I go and tried to buy and hope he doesn't return IT.

Is that ever happened?

The returning that actually no where .

SHE didn't where SHE didn't where.

I'm very fickle. I return a lot of things. I'm terrible. Give, get.

Wow, I don't.

I got you something you're not going .

to return o .

that i'm very excited about nothing. There's actually nothing that I don't have, which is a good way to be.

Isn't IT good?

That's what I get. You, yeah, yeah, good. That's perfect.

You can even have the rapid. You can say a rap here. IT is beautifully rap.

Uh, oh, and I just heard a rap. I said rap. Actually, someone suggested what I can get for you, Andrew, i'm thinking about doing IT. I hear. Mt, I hear mad gates is sending personal messages on camel.

That I would love that .

I would love that .

every turn .

that either 手摸 的 身体 的。

How about a gift from this next story? Bath and body works. I feel like I could get you some soup. You.

my girl, basically you stick.

yeah. I need to wash your money shop. You need, dear. Oh, why from, why from out of during the break was your mike on the order of mh sure. We say beyond .

people buying a lots of soap a to wash people's mouth out with, uh, they are rising uh in doble digits after quarterly results make a lot of people need to get their mouth washed out with sops and they buying a lot of IT is a ford nine cents to share two cents Better than estimates.

It's on revenue of a dollar, a sixty arsa dollars, I say one point six one billion dollars, speeding expectations of one point five eight billion dollars up for the fourth quarter back and body works expecting earnings in the range of a dollar ninety for a share that to two o seven a share in the street are looking for earnings of one ninety seven, the stack up about eleven percent on the back of that news. Who knew that people standing billions of dollars on soap from bath and body works? unbelievable.

Yeah weren't .

not spending .

any one.

So every you use some fancy, so you must use such a metro whatever they are. Um you don't use just diversion or something under pencil.

I L I.

no, I, I.

I use dog. I do the same. Realized there's .

some weird who .

who ve been asking me on expert. So god, don't just answer that.

The same guy with the feet.

I don't have the same guy with the feet.

You use soap on your feet.

Never mind.

I like a lava with promise.

You remember .

that take .

your skin off. Yeah.

basically, you know, if you going to do IT once a month, that you need a good scrubbing.
