Hello and dog, welcome to ignite. Microsoft made lots of interesting announcement that the opening of its ignite conference for I. T.

Professionals, the busiest of them, seems to be the windows three sixty five link, a three hundred and forty thousand nine dollar device that serves mostly to connect to the cloud and stream a version of windows eleven. It's a small, friendless box that can connect to monitors and performs. Got three USB, a ports, A U S, B, C port, a display port at H.

M. I port. Ethne's, of course, has wifi. Sixty runs, just enough software to connect to the internet. Everything else you do with IT is in the cloud. Because of that, IT boots in seconds wakes instantly from sleep.

IT does process video from teams and webbs on its own ship, but IT doesn't do much else there. Microsoft says third parties can start making their own versions of link devices as well that will use the same hardened Operating system. Link is in preview for folks in australia, canada, germany, japan, new zein, the U.

K. And the us, and will come to select markets for everybody in April. Oh.

sign me up for a one. I am ready in your link. I love IT. Windows eleven is coming to the meta quest three and three s in december in public preview. By that, microsoft means you can access windows three sixty five in V R. Most of IT will be just Normal windows on our really large virtual screen or three, but there will also be some volume metric apps and an API to develop plugins for new and existing three windows.

And in addition to that, teams is getting transcription support up to thirty one translation languages next year. Summaries will be able to break up visual content and copy plus PC can now use the np u to enhance video quality.

Imagine a lot of people like that, uh, adam computing will partner with microsoft to launch a commercial quantum computer next year. The machines will live more than a thousand physical cubits that combined to entangle twenty four logical cubits using neutral Adams, held in place final lasers. But before you get too excited, remember that the hearing on these proposals takes place in April. So we're not even going to get a hearing.

They're not even going to make a proposal till April. And the judge then has until next August to decide on which remedies he will order because he doesn't have to go with their suggestion. And then google is gonna appeal. So chrome isn't gonna get sold anytime. So is that thing .

where we get really excited about these like really huge White weeping decisions? But I remember that IT is just going to take years in the years and years for this.

Who knows this this actually stakes.

In google, driverless car company neural will expand on road tests of its vehicles in palo alto and mountain view, california and houston, texas at speeds up to thirty five miles per hour. The expended test is to show its capabilities to potential customers who might want to license the technology.

Google lens is expanding its shopping tool to help you when you're actually in a store, you can do all this stuff online. Those are essential for day. Let's dive a little deeper in the ongoing stories and follow up. Early this month, ander, hidden from the political orphanage, made a musical with the help of A I thoms SAT down to talk to him about what he made and what tools he .

used to make IT peten. Uh, thank you for joining us. First of all, appreciate you to do in this.

I am delighted to be back. Thank you.

I very much enjoyed your musical. Uh, please explain to folks what IT was because I have tried and I mostly just said.

well, thank you very much. I'm delighted you enjoyed because IT was a tremendous amount of work as somebody liked so yet to explain um back in july when the the first presidential debate happened between joe biden and Donald trump um IT was a color full event that people and rich rank thoughts on and back in july I went home like eleven G M.

And I stayed up till five and I made debate the musical in a very slap dash way but IT was funny and I posted on my podcast the political orphanage, and I was surprised at the response that I got, because there were a lot of people that went, thank you. I was really bombed out about the the outcome of the debate. And that funny musical you put together maybe feel Better.

So kind of a light, bold moment went off in front of me and I went, I know I can predict that the presidential elections gona happen on november fifth about them, and pretty sure gonna happen that. And so what i'm going to do is i'm going to do a really, really good musical about the election. And so from the july until november third or fourth, I was working on a broadway musical about our election.

And IT charged the course of the primaries through biden dropping out through combo being selected and then IT. And then IT has its own unique ending that I did. And in order to do this, I relied on udi and suno and a few other side programs, and I built out my own musical using A I now I .

think a lot of people will jump to the conclusion when they hear me tears this uh topic uh that oh he used A I to make IT quicker, to make IT easier. Uh, if you started in july and I took you to the november, that doesn't sound quick or easy. Can can you tell us a little bit about all the work that went into IT? How did you do this?

So first you say right off the for anybody that is concerned that I used A, I rather than going the traditional route of having an entire cast and reduce st and A A full band, I am very, very open for somebody funding this as a proper traditional musical reach out to me directly. And I I would love to do all of that and not do any of the AI.

But as one guy with a laptop, unfortunately, I was forced to resort to using technology as a means to get me into the process. So I don't really look at IT as A I, making IT easier. I, I C, A, I is the thing that allowed me to do IT at all there.

There is no, no way that I, on my budget with my connections could have put a musical together where I had an entire cast and yeah and everything else certainly not the time frame that I had in terms of the the time that when into IT um if all you are doing is coming up with funny prompts and lyrics and sono and ChatGPT and right lro s for you and my experience they are not good. I think lyrics so far all of the elms that i've seen are fairly juvenile and elementary. They're stuff along the lines of let me tell you my tail, I hope you don't think it's a .

way you so but you .

theoretically ally just go a make a broadway musical song about uh the the president doing a bad job at a debate. A little little something out for you and IT might be served um if you wanted to have any coherence, you wanted to have any things in IT, as my musical does, there are two separate themes that reemerged throughout uh that that are are you in act one and act to because i've got an intermission, i've never I tried to treat like a proper museum if if you're actually doing that where there's a thematic throw line, it's going to be a lot more difficult and a lot more complicated.

IT will be further complicated because you are if if you're just putting a hunch project together, you can probably pull that off. In my case, I wanted to have characters that were coming through. So there's one voice that's doing dont trump consistently.

There's one triumph doing one voice doing commoner heroes. There's one a voice doing job. But as two voices doing job, unfortunately, I we are not at the point in this technology where I can put in, give me baritone thirty two a .

yeah yeah you to .

generate a lot so long story short trips to make what I did, I had to write all the lyrics myself, come up with the concept, come up with the jokes.

And then when I had, the lyrics are basically crunk out insane amounts of iterations using audio, narrow them down, print them, then reexamine them, and then stitched them together with other iterations that are now further narrows down by only being served, if that the same voice of the previous ones. So yes, IT involved. A trip, this was a like a spaetzle on at the wall. And a lot of the, a lot of the the craft that when to do IT was just like taking this massive Jackson public amount of information and narrowing IT down to something that becomes one of coherent.

So you would put your own lyrics in, which I think a lot of people would be interested to know, and then get a version back and go. Not quite right. Let me make a couple tweet. Is that what you're saying?

Yeah and that whole that whole thing was a process of itself so yeah yeah ah what I would do is look at rime structures. I i've never written music before I in a poetry book but I ve never written uh, rime structures for for music.

So I would I would write, uh, music and I would write that the lyrics and then I would I would run IT through several iterations and listen for if it's a good tuner, not and then I would kind I would learn that are right. That rime structure just doesn't work very well for a music but but i'm sure anybody is properly trained in music would have been light years ahead of me in this and I would recommend IT because i'd love to see what you do. But um I I would come up with these crime structures run at through N I O.

You know that's just not working. I thought that that eight, eight, ten structure would work IT doesn't seem to worse going to i'm going to try ten, ten, seven, maybe that work. And and so I would kind of get to the point where I know regardless of how the outcome of these iterations are, that the rime structure itself will be will be silent.

I would do that and then I would um I lets say I create maybe twenty twenty to forty um iterations of that particular song, they all of the same lyrics and i'll listening and oh okay now I have to narrow a dance slay of if it's a song with on a trumpet I have to get a male voice that's that's uh A A White male voice that is a tender and then you're knowing IT down to going, okay, which one do I actually like the sound of? Then there is a tony stuff that I think that will be ironed. Doubt i'm very excited about this technology.

I think it'll be iron out over the next like six months, if not years, where just weird things would be pronounced of weird. Like you like the word neo ki drives me nuts that the word neocons, uh, neo, can. I just couldn't get IT.

They couldn't. can. Well.

because I would try to play with IT. So I go when I go, K H, A N or something. So I to do IT, a one of the other things that I would do is I would I would find a song that I really liked.

I liked the basic beat of IT. And then I would, I would crop IT, and then I would regenerate IT. So I was almost like like coming up with different branches on a tree.

And then I could I could kind of go from there in massage directions that I wanted to go or or in the case of the songs that we're thematic, I could take something and sort of use IT as a base template for a later one. That way I would presage what was going to happen later. Um but big I didn't involved a lot of iterations, a lot of editing and a lot of potion to get IT anywhere near being a coherent piece.

IT strikes me that not only would you not have been able to afford to employ people to do um but I would have taken much longer if you had people doing this if you kept going back for iterations and saying, please change this, please change that .

yes I think that that's absolutely true. Um I you know every year on the political loran, ange, I do or have dialed all do IT this year because this took a oud enemy. But every every you're in the political worth, I usually do a Christmas.

Al, I will know there's no AI involved or has never been involved in the Christmas special. There are all comedy sketches, and there is a certain amount of favors that I can call IT, where I call up friends. And O, I think you very funny. Would you appear in this comedy sketches that i'm doing, which I I did in the musical to the people talking .

our regular people although you have the voices of biden and trump I do that's me that's you talking but then you .

alter IT right I alter IT. There's a program called um uh what is IT for? It's not vocal remove. I think it's voice start A I voice voice start A I has a thing where you pay like twenty bucks a month or something like that and you you can upload your voice and then trying smoke phy IT into in my case, biden and trump um and with varying levels of success but you definitely know who they are uh the other voices are are actors that friends that I had to do.

The voice acting for me for something like like a sketched comedy thing where the commitment of my friends to work for free on my show is an hour they're happy to you need if I were looking to get uh actors who are going to do multiple rehearsals uh and are are going to put up with me changing things as they go on or in this case, uh, I was planning to do originally, I was planning to do five different variations of IT where the ending would be different depending on the outcome of the election. Having all of that occur as well would have been difficult and and all of this would have been surmountable. And I should note, I love musical theatres, why I did this and um I would love to have an entire cast that I could adequately pay to participate and pay them for all of that time.

I do not have the funding to have five different full time actors, do you know a month of and then do subsequent production of IT. It's just it's just literally impossible. But as I said, I think this technology is something that democratized things that allows clubs like me to actually play around and and get in and get more appreciation for the whole process.

Uh, before we go, I know a lot of people will want to know what you use. Uh, and you've mention the the tools as we went along. But but can you kind of summarize what what tools you use so people could maybe make ticket start doing this themselves?

Yes, I primarily used audio, which i've I found to be the best. So the two that i'm aware of that are really, really useful for what we're talking about, our sono and audio. And there they're kind of an an ARM story right now, whether you go back forth every month on on new features.

And so while I was using most of the time was working on this, I think udi was superior, but I think soo has now jumped over in its superior in various ways. But in general, at the time that I recorded a ud o was very good at just the quality of voices. Uh, sono is now caught up.

But at the time sono sounded kind of striated IT sounded like when they when they take like really poppy music and run IT through and over processor IT sounded a bit like that where studio sounded much more organic and natural. I don't think you d Frankly know that IT was A I and less you look out for IT media was the one that I mostly used and you could put in the lyrics. There's if you go to with the advanced features, it'll give you thirty seconds or two minutes.

I would go to two minutes, I put in the lyrics I I would know verse one, chorus bridge, verse two all of that um and then crank out of, then further cropped and extended um sono um where I where I use sono that I found useful. The sono has a feature where you can upload a track and then you can make a cover of that track in a different musical style. So um I had previously made a lot less AI because it's very much a model y episode.

But the week before I had done a tribute to a puri home companion by geri ler, it's very much following that that that format. And so I took the theme show to the political or vintage, and I ran IT through. There was a blue grass thing, so could do that with the A I musical.

I would take one of my favorite songs um which is donor trump s singing about how much he misses joe biden. As the election actually is competitive, I took that song. I used vocal removal to remove the trump voice.

So there was just the instrumental, and I fed that into sono and said, give me a broadway musical version of this. It's already a broadway musical version. But what I didn't doing was given me lots of variations of that central theme that I could use as A A bit of music for any that I wanted to do that would still be preceded ing that eventual.

But I would say primarily, I used ut o by like ninety percent sooner by ten percent. And then for the very melandri joe biden model logue, I used voice start A I there's one trump monologue in their voice start A I as well. And then a program called vocal remover dot organ, I believe.

Or if you put in vocal remover organ in your search results, I think that that would turn up the correct thing. There are several programmes like that. We can add as long you can remove the voice, uh, or ice late the voice and I I found that to be quite helpful. And over the course of additive, thanks.
