needs to do a seminar on how to tie with his tools.
Yeah, we could have we could have them do that in the classroom. Actually might get awkward bear food thorium, but well we can definitely IT h whatever you take going to be be going to be another great year um in the classroom and yeah for guys, if you're if you're not familiar with what a day at fashion university looks like, um it's really a great experience for anybody that likes to fish best fish wants to learn um or you just enjoy you know being around other people that enjoy the sport. how you do do and get IT you're the first version up talk to since everyone two. Sorry, well.
well, I am also glad to have you with this man, man. And its speech had to be a world when, uh, you know, got to catch up. What what do you been doing? I saw you, you holding the trophy at the race track there just a moment ago. It's probably been a world when ever last few months .
is that in saying, I mean, ever since went in IT yeah i'm sure you remember eggs to her after he went through everything. I don't know if fillings is crazy as there, but IT it's been insane. I've you got to do things I never would have dreamed of IT was we were sit there and you know like on pit road um sit up in one of those things for gross s in and like the Michael Jordan tin what is crew and you know IT did what?
Did did you, George, swap some efficient stores?
Yeah yeah, he take me a native. So then when went played horse and I showing .
what was up yeah ah that's out. Well, what about like right after I member, when we were talking, you were head in home and you had like block parties that was going to code down what would happen, what what went down when you brought the .
jovian when I get home to my land and my wife, they set up like a big party and went had just a giant cross sh boil yeah I am can be IT IT IT is Better .
yeah that's that's fantastic. So you're at the race track. You talk in the Jordan and um uh what what else have you done?
Um I don't know I I haven't sleep much. I don't like my bucket list every one of these days.
When gets to sleep?
No, I don't recommend, man, you crushing IT on the tournament trail. Uh, may maybe this, uh, sleep decoration is good for you.
Oh yes, maybe. So I am. We get, you know, another key this gonna be doing about so yeah they're definitely to sleep that you know that's .
like you know but that you know maybe maybe you'll benefit from um you know the good luck baby, a charm that that happens often out on the term mature. Why not want to just to win another class?
That's the plant, I mean, of work. If people would told me he was gonna be this good after you win the glasses got a done sooner. exactly.
That's what my son says. Me, dad, why don't you just go win the classic and look, okay? That's IT.
It's right. No problem, no problem. Well, SHE, and I remember we were talking about what was the ice company that that you were into. Is that what you drink?
You right now? My lows violent.
That's yeah. Is that on your boat? now? Did that go down?
Not you would have we? We might do still, still working .
on that one OK come.
come on to support.
right? That's the problem。 I can stop ranking IT. They get good. No.
the money from you. why? why? Why make money .
go the other way? Yes, I don't know what takes up my else.
So yes, well, I I was I was hoping that one came through for you, but it's it's had to be a world in man. Like what about what else has happened on the business front? Like did he did you where you able require some new sponsorships? Or a has business been good post classic because it's been a weird year in the fishing industry? Hasn't been for the classic room?
Yeah from everything i've heard, a IT sounds like I was a good idea to win the classic because IT IT has been pretty great for me. Um i've been so thankful and really is a mainly just all the sponsors that I have before just stepped IT up. You know I might have a couple different ones, but i'm i'm excited that i'm i'm staying with you know a lot of these companies are know and love and you know worked out different deals and no doubt about that, but is going good.
Man, that's well, that's good news. I know we were you know we were kicking around some things like what what you're going to do with this money some other guys from bh university, you were anxious to help you spend the money. I remember that you you know you were kickin around some ideas. What would know did you do something to buy a new house or what what did you do?
Um the first thing we did, I actually get set my donor, the distance world, that that was not so we had to do that. I'm not found a disney at all, but just in her face in everything, was he was awesome. Yeah.
they were working that probably caused the entire classic check.
Yeah, I think we had twelve thousand left. 哦。 I do have .
a bit you .
going to do we? We get like an airport. And b like two miles down the road.
Do that the way to go. I mean, feel like a hundred books. And I IT had like a whole water park there at the like neighborhood.
That every .
minute just .
on you get is a you get this access to the disney pounds to fish and we will work that out. Did did you did you did you get into the pounds? You do any other fish and .
and not when we were there there um and I think I told the story when I was uh on ice for gas but near my dad a long time ago um when I was fishing at the world championship uh I was like and out back and he came and actually sit down with this um he remembers me from like the whole bank the night before they was so cool but he taught me in my dad into go to those pounds and we didn't even know you had to pay so we just like snockerty and if start to walk in the banks, just weird about IT IT was so much for until I .
keep us out that's great. That is great. Well, do you have to like paid a fish from the bank for this one?
Apparently you have to pay the'd like get a whole guard trip and all that kind of stuff. Yeah, you're not supposed .
to walk this the .
pots where about on which? Oh, about the killer .
yeah that's also would like Mickey come over and like a security c and sore.
Ya no, IT was .
down a duck. He's not putting .
up with IT. No mean .
that leave IT to the haters. Get out there and just crash the pounds.
Me and I that I .
have opportunity fished those pounds and they're absolutely yeah they're stabbed with fishmen. It's a it's a lot of fonds Justin or a Justin.
you're in charge to get us yeah maybe if .
we do bring Justin with this week, get in there .
and take things. I mean, that sounds like an amazing video.
I I agree. I wonder of Mickey king cattle. I don't know.
We know this kind care as long fish.
We know this guy can catch him. It's a, it's been pretty cool man, like we were we were talking last time and and you know the pressure like you had the classic, you know one, right? So what was this year gone to look like? You know what I mean was, were you going to fish Better or because of lack of pressure? Or was IT gonna be a tougher year for you? I think you answer that .
question nicely. yeah. IT IT opened IT up to not having that worry about the qualifying. And that that's what I was so excited about. Like I was going on the swing for the fences and try to win every turn ament. And you know, even though I never want an eternity, like I don't know how many top tens IT was a year was insane.
But IT just goes to show, like when you actually go go and out, they're trying to win those, you're going to come a heck of a lot closer then if you're just they're trying to cut that check. So IT really often mad. So like i'm i'm excited about even next year, just keep that same mentality, not even worried about china qualify the classic and other speaking go forward. I did some stupid stuff, but you know, except for two times that were there.
What what do you mean? You did some stupid stuff. what? What do you mean?
Well, I don't know about, but I did some really really off the world just I mean like sanjana river, iran really long ways are opposite of everybody else um in the first day I had like go down and way back again and like one of the biggest back that yes yes IT gives you the .
freedom to just swing for the bleachers bleachers that uh yeah that's kind of crazy but man, I worked out for you nicely oh .
yeah yeah that's what I mean this whole year. Think I said I how we had two bad days out on the water in one m was at first day, say john. The next one was the last day at same long were that memecan IT just like fell apart. But a whole different story still make one hundred, you know, twenty million when, you know, I could have played IT safe and went up twenty pounds out of the river, but I was still just kept that same mentality. Try to trying to win the turnout yeah.
hundred twenty miles men to that that's taking into the lake. It's a it's a recipe for disaster if IT doesn't go your way.
Oh yeah, when you only have about two, two and hf hours of fish. If those small mile move in theyve been known the move a couple times, they move. Yeah, yeah.
You Better have a fun. quick. It's can be rough day.
No, kid. I guess that's what happened to they.
They explain.
T the seen well.
there actually. So I was fishing more than everybody and there was an L G. bloom. And I I noticed like the water looking weird when I get there that morning in like, you know, sometimes that maybe I just can't see good enough.
Then as the sun actually get up further, I could tell lives just sometimes was off. And I mean, I was the burn still make count like a five and a half. That probably was the worst thing that I could have happened. Pretty, yeah, just got to make those fish by no one that something was off.
So to that the L. G. Bloom came in like overnight or what what went down.
yeah. So the winner kind of shifted again. And IT actually was like blowing from the bank. So IT was protected. So it's not like a much did up for whatever, but I guess they like even shower up that little bit of algy. Below is here the water and IT push pushed the L G off like the top.
like the shallow aggress on the back. And to move IT out into where where you were fishing. Is that because .
I was fishing like out of the edge of a lot of that itself like that in those bys like bright on because I mean, I was targeting fish like media postponed and figure so they're coming out of those base and I was hit like the and then you know, cry went more and I just literally right outside of, you know, where are the little bit deeper?
I think that .
this just came home, home. See them, see them. Can you go? Well.
shoot, if you had four hours to find them, you know you would you i'm sure you have been able to do that. You know, it's such a small window.
what?
what? What other what other things sticks out in your mind like when you talk about like going for IT or you know having the freedom to go for the win, like a what what did that mean in some of the other tournaments this year? Like you made a long run and saint lawns and the same johns rivers, um that that seems like that was going you going for broke, going for the win mentality. What about some of the other you know body's the order that .
you fished so like a good one is whether like in have you kind of talked about that when a lot was you know just having the freedom to be off the fish at home more? Um I like we like is somewhere I I think i've been there twice as a coin er and that was IT like I knew nothing about the place um but back home I was just fishing every chance I could get in and um the tail race like river, so then we know how the way the time is like, hi, i'm going go up to that rice and try to make that glad I deal work in. I ended up in the time minute I will be only boat up there. And I mean anybody that knows about since bag s was pretty shocked when ah all four days, every day yeah just just for being by myself, make one and avoid you know I knew that the decay flat was gna go down but being able to have somewhere about myself just why do you think why .
do you think the ah the taiLoring and that turned him I didn't get as much attention as IT probably shoot.
they weren't pushing enough water every day. They would just like for about an hour to they would turn on the generators and actually have a little bit current. And if you want there then there was so what happened?
But so did you, did you stay there through the like, the bad, you know, times of the day and just figure I had to catching without the current or where you just rely on that that window.
I was relying on that window. And, you know, I looked up on wine and IT shows you when I suppose that turned on and IT was never acted any day. So just know that if your river don't press so I kind of just had to sit there way and and right they turn on at some point.
Yeah, that's fine. I was just down there with the the high school and chip on chicken mag. We were tailrace fishing and that we never just like you said, you never know what you're going to get, you know you just you got to show up and uh, if you're pulling water, the pull in water, you just to hang out, wait for, you know .
yeah I mean, because like as soon as they will turn on within five minutes, I had this one low rock pile. They would come up school that I think you they two, they turned on the water for about two hours that they, and that's when I had like morning something pounds, like one of the bigger bag, determined. So just make a difference. And no.
kid, what the you were talking about spots were those spots on wheeler.
Oh, no, no. IT was IT was mostly large mouth. Did I never could figure out the small mouth, al. And I think that's what was missing for everybody trying to figure out because the small market is usually on the orders, you know after in the middle. But if I don't know where those fish were, and apparently nobody else figured out too.
yeah.
I think I got one small matth whole tournaments, but he was like.
a four and a half. So nice, nice. Well, you know, is that eighteen minimum one fishes? That does that apply the wheeler too?
No, no. It's like like take week and it's pretty much just why don't believe it's fourteen or fifty eight years but you can have all I got .
you yeah because I think it's ten to see that the state tennessee of tennessee, that ramps or that you limits that one fish for eighteen inches yeah .
it's so we're in it's only like that that like south east corner because you know if you go up the Cherry y, you can have off of right .
it's that's .
a weird deal.
That is a weird deal. And my boys called a lot of small muscle and take a moga, believe IT or not and that that eighteen eight limit was was given a IT but that. That's always occasion know if it's if it's eighteen and ages catch in seventeen and fish but yeah but they had a good time in the terrorists. That's phenomenon you buy yourself I can't believe in on lake wheeler, uh, such a you know notorious place, a to be searching. Did you think you .
would have that all to yourself? Or did you expect to have to work through other boats up there? Turn, turn IT.
Oh, I did. Even I was like a late boat number. So that first day, so I did even go straight up there, I I guess of the community whole, I figure. And yeah so I actually started on like a couple of other like create mouse working my way up there. Let's go.
Ah that is awesome. What other any other turntable ent stick out in your mind this year?
嗯 yes, like Smith lake, that that was one that I really honestly, I really thought I was gona pull of that one out the water. Um I mean, I was just doing something completely different than nearby yours. I knew I could catch that one of the fifteen pounds probably if I did how to make you really middle but they like a giant bone IT just just straight going for IT.
I mean, I would only give over six minutes a day on that thing, but if, in fact, to get a little, little bit of sun came out, I think the sun came out for like he was the final day for about two hours in the afternoon. And I got more in those two hours than I did the rest the whole tournament because of cloudy in whatever during that. But yeah, practice, I was catching twenty to twenty two pounds of correction. Yeah, I had spot .
might had a little too much fun .
in practice. I was so good.
Um math, that sounds too that sounds too fun. Well, IT was a great season. I mean, I think will you fifth place in A O Y? Yes, that's that's fantastic.
Come on. I mean, lot of guys come off of the classic win. Know like times. It's the distraction of being the classic champ that can get your way, you know, having to do appearances and go do different things.
And uh, we've been you know some guys come off that title and they they kind of have a chroma year, uh, right after but but not know a lot of guys do like you did when they fish free and they have fun on IT and you did IT and you had a great season. How do you think it's going to change for you this this next year? Are you going to I guess you're going to continue with that. You know, when I go for the wind strategy.
absolutely. Ly, I I think one of the biggest things was just the confidence, again, like, specially you me so much company, like because that I you like, I don't know if I felt honestly like IT so little about me, if that makes them so like you.
You know, I was always kind of back and forth between and do the efficient thing and then still have a family working when I being able to have that like kind of break out moment, I guess this gave me all the confidence in the world. Like this is really am what i'm gonna for the rest of my life. And just all in that's that's .
the dream and I know that's the dream and and IT really IT really happened. And uh, you know, I I guess that you know every Young or battles that you know trying to find their spot and of course winning the classic, you know certainly catapult to that spot, but unto you get your first win or you your first major accomplishment, I think, um I think every angle struggles with doubt.
No, no. Uh, I know I did like, you know, I felt like I belong there, but he was like, am I ever I have gonna when and again is just this is so tough. They're so good and I think you just I don't know everybody, they come there and that seems like that's like one of the first thing. They all say it's like I didn't realize how good everybody was like I thought I was killed and the and then you come back away and it's like, oh, you're just you might make the of the like what .
yeah yeah that that there the competition is stalled and you you got ta get over that home of getting that w to build to stabilize your confidence in. And what we've seen a million times, as you know, once guys win, there are a million times more likely to win again.
You know, even if IT took him a long time to get that first w but once A W happens, IT IT can be almost like you, an available ch, where every year they are threatened in the wind tournament again. And I think it's just like you say, comes from that from that confidence out I can do this. I do belong here .
and your you you stop like second yes, in your decisions and just yeah just when you and I know that it's of the also downs of fishing, everybody goes through but not in your decisions crazy them yeah yeah well take us to .
the classic what do you think of what do think helps you to overcome that? Like to be able to make those right decisions um to to get that w because it's not it's not easy to do you know you almost try you I think a lot of times guys try to force IT too much and and you know i've heard to describe like you gotta let the tournament come to you or you got to let the patterns come to you. Did you did you feel like that when you were going through the classic win?
I I don't know if he was more of letting the pattern company. I was more of I mean, my confidence was through the room. I don't know IT was a weird feeling that would like even adding up to IT as like cash, everything this was setting up exactly for my will house I guess like give me a they come trees brush like its on s album fish one of one and just the way everything seem to be set up like I had a terrible practice um but IT was IT was that cold front that was coming through and I knew that those fish they were really want to push up or they we're going to get home up you know, in that transition.
They weren't gonna ep open up shower and I mean, IT was exactly what happened and those fish were like, everybody was fishing in the same kind of stuff, same areas, but just blowing through IT. And i've really, really just picked apart like, I mean, now I would fish some lay or three tops. Just get right, you once I had, like, you could actually see your best come out of that like lay down because there were so many other like john fish, trash fish um but that best would actually react to debate.
He was man. And I mean, I would just keep on, keep on until I get that writing. They eventually just committed. So yeah I was really about to slow and out, just taking everything apart and not get into big or rush.
And you could do that when you're fishing in your real house and I look like that and I look like a duckling water when you're and and I could um you know listening to your your seminar that you did with this uh last year right before the classic about chart big fishing and it's know you you hear like that all those techniques you taught us, you went just use them you know to crush that tournament so that was that was pretty awesome you know credit to raise for getting you and and picking the jerk bait seminar that went and won in the classic that was else pretty amazing work .
for IT yeah well, I mean, if I would say it's easy to do when you work with the most time to group of angers on the planet, you know one of them is found to win just for me. Yeah.
that's IT was pretty cool because I think I don't know how in debt I went into IT, but I know I talked about like fishing that differ diverge bit through three tops and how can flag the reliance stuff and that make much money you might need add that part out that .
is that is awesome because I know, man, a jerk bait and timber is like, man, it's they they stick like glue. Uh, but that that bigger bill is not something that i've ever in. Until you, until you taught us about IT, I I would have never thought I would have made a difference. But currently .
IT does.
No, I don't. Uh, well, hey, rich seasons are change in man um IT looks like a jerk bate season again. Yeah IT looks like .
jerk bates coming back around. And that's why it's one of the reasons we wanted to get john here just and hear a little bit about what your jerk bait strategies look like in the fall. I mean I know a debate that you employee pretty much three hundred sixty five days a year um but specifically um in the fall um how do you fish that thing, man, what is what is your approach to jerk pay fishing this time you .
look like this time year is is the hardest like no, that IT is the hardest time of year. Specially like kind of for the jar because you have to get so dial into the size of big fish and list around here, you know, when IT set fall and they are feeding on that really, really tiny stuff is eating IT stuff.
And I mean, i'm done and why did I have tried some like that will copy, get to read, react to IT but um is so much about matching hat right now and what i've actually found more success in, instead of trying to make those fish that are, you know just school and all those flats and is that tennis little bit? You're done in the home boat. Give the heck away from those fish, go find the bigger shed.
And that, to me, has been so like an eye opener. But I will leave an area. When is the tiny, tiny bit just either start targeting like more individual fish instead of the old schools, or just trying to literally find those bigger shared? And when you find those bigger shared, you can actually teach those fish because you are able to actually, I mean, match the hat is is so weird how much they care about that this time year.
But yeah, I mean, i'm definitely downsides of my base either way is you're gonna have to downsize the gerber and i'm working at fast like we let them look at IT. I'm i'm never pausing IT within that. You almost still like a summer time, bill.
But just if I get too beautiful, look at IT. They know so especially down here because this like the clear red water, will have all year long water like in a big time to out right now. And yeah, yeah, it's super clear. And yeah, those fish I get too beautiful at that I know was up well.
What's you're downside? Like what what's the process like you're going from like a one time down to or you know how small you go, what he would you using?
And there's like some fifty five um what is IT the great honey that little bit megabus, the fifty five OK that's that's usually about as small as I go be able to still like like work IT effectively hello croppy one just he was too White I didn't get a rather but I need to the story has like the ninety five is hard core ninety five that little soccer you can still works um pretty shallow in this time year that that's probably what i'm gonna go to is so shall are running Jerry, because a lot of the stuff is like around the flatter they're feeding so close to the surface. And do like I want top whenever you see the fiscal and the nearby still in the top waters in the school and fish spring a little year by there。 And even if it's like the regular win that a lot of times there was little bit bigger fish or kind of I think they are sit under, all the other ones are still and way just for stuff to drop down and get a easy meeting though that you are Better in there, try to get under a little .
bit I like that little bit higher percent you know he's listening right now. Justin says that um that's a good one though throw that little jerk pay in there but you know Richard is like the first time we heard this, we ran into a situation on the pat omics this year where we had those little bit minos that the bast were feeding on and and if you were targeting those, the best that we're feeding on those little minutes, um you weren't in in the tournament you needed to go after the blue gio honors the bluggy eaters and the crofty sh eaters because they were bigger. Uh a little bit easier to catch um and in the fall again, who who what we had somebody else .
talking about fine in that .
bigger shared joran or not Jordan, ma boy, from your way, talking about finding that bigger shared, what are the keys to that? Like the bigger shared locate themselves, I get in different areas, different depth this time .
here they do. But IT IT is so brandow like, I mean, a lot of time you you're still gonna can find this killing on that luby bay and then can go now down the river on another flat in, you know, IT is so hard to turn that down. Obviously, like the majority of the shed is gonna be out in the middle that riber channel, right? And I think that's for a lot of those bigger share. Also, I do try to stay closer to the deep actual channel, but IT can still I may not found them in the banks of pockets and too fit water for some reason is just fall is all of .
the place and are where you find them yes.
But I hate to I wish I head a so far answer but there .
was yeah that answer. Recover water and keep your eyes peeled. And um you know I imagine you know sonar is critical this time here. You know the finding that you know, I guess forward facing sooner can be a critical component because I can see the difference between little bit bit and bigger bate a pretty .
easily on those units. Oh yeah, no dough IT definitely plays. I'll say honestly for me is probably the least it'll play all year.
Machine put .
down here now abound, especially if i'm turntable fishing um this time a year and patient shallow like super shallow. I don't know what they get like that bigger fish in a shallow as they do, but IT seems like they are if you wanna be off the catch. I don't know a lot of the bigger fish out the river is not really doing much because we don't have a lot of current and stuff like that. But i'm i'm i'm targeting ing like ice LED of wood on flats and like a foot to foot water IT seems like you know the fish that you can, those big, the fish you can actually catch sah like a shower as they are .
you i'd like that just .
we got a question on our message board from a coach prints um and he want so uh this time a year, what is your what is your color selections look like on your drug rate? And then also a where you go in with rattles versus silent debates when you're fishing in the cleaner .
water is a great question, coach, that's silent debate. Are you employing that, that i'm interested. I haven't seen guys talk about that much.
So forget to the salon part. It's far the color of this time year. I'm gonna the most translucent just so I don't give off. Is bigger a profile you know what to make like yeah what do you find the bigger shared if I can find the most translucent? That's that's kind of what i'm going for just to make that profile seem smaller um and that clear water IT IT IT makes a difference but um so for the rattle I wish there was a german ate that was the silent gerber that actually test yeah you know the man to like, why don't they make .
that what I mean they could wait IT um such that but I noticed that to those they they took the weight right out of the silent silent .
bates and they will not go i'm .
gona fix .
that so it's come and isn't the works I i've actually get like the three rains just filled by on rebate. However I want this could be in, be so good, but that was one of like, the biggest thing for me was warning that silent, like I would love to the silent, especially in the clear water, or if the fish, like super pressured, which I think official. Now I think that I think that makes a difference.
no doubt. Did you we had a od fo on and he was talking about, and we've had sah talk about the the using the brake, replacing the split rings with brain. Have you done that?
Yeah have been to that for war.
right?
Yeah that definitely do that well. Um there has a lot of bit of efa. So not only doesn't make IT silent, but just the landing ratio. I thank you so much Better.
How much Better? How much Better are we talking like you like? Are we talking ten percent Better? Or first.
I think rich is trying to get to do. I have to spend three hours a day replacing all .
my nigh to be replacing all my travel hooks this week .
or IT depends on what you if you're targeting small mouth IT makes add about twenty person IT IT makes a bit. They're going just regular like that no matter and also bigger if they start sweating in IT um IT can seem like to me like they're push the hooks out of the way sometimes that makes with a bread like because they're not a stationary great. They kind of push him out of the way sometimes. So of you be careful with like the slapping of IT. But if you actually get IT hot, this is going about.
wow, wow, what a well, just when I this was fascinating to ask, because I was time IT for on the last show, and he was rattling debates that, you know, that we're silent with the split rings and a silent bate, with the brain and the the noise, the quiet ness of the brave getting rid that split t ring was unbelievable, how much quiet IT made debate, I was blown away. Uh, so if you're looking for silent man and that's that's it's gotto be part of the gig.
I've got another way around IT. Will you accept to wait and see?
This is, this is whether we gna see this further type, when is come out.
So this actually started like, i'm actually started like I drew IT out. We've been going back. And force IT is not even close to being done. I just know everything I want on the anger getting the first like prototypes of IT in um but i'm not released ing until the things perfect like is that .
is that can be with user. Uh that .
is not not okay.
right?
Well, we we look forward to seeing this prototype. But when you're time you're brain not uh, what what pound test are you using and what not are you using?
So is the same not that I does i'm pretty sure OK or I I don't know of any different what video he was. But on the other base, i'll usually go to b to sixty five .
and like .
I like that I have a but like when I was small fishing um I used like a hundred and thirty pound so that back phone yeah yeah like I used so yeah so you do this with you like with .
traps too or let us wait who tell us .
anymore.
I don't know. I have I.
I did. I like.
That's well, I mean, where do you have time to throw IT? You're always thrown a jerk big. Yes, you got to pick one.
You know, I have more good way.
Yeah, spin that.
They like to the grass and I can me about IT before we get on just like White. So good. And did you can't suspend another bite out there and I think they just separate such a bit so much is the most natural sitting position to spend IT, just like a bay fishes. And there's not another bid after they can do that.
Do you think it's gona win again that day? This year is classic.
Don't be a contender unless we have unless the another like crazy flood, which is still want that last time won, was crazy flood. But yeah, it's can be a container. I don't know. I'm excited about that to be some well.
yeah well, we we fully expect that I mean, gonna in taxi. Of course, if you get the ice storms, you know that which always can be a problem down there, the freezing cold weather, I guess what we'll see how that affects things.
And that's the .
big that you want that that's what texas fresh water Fisheries, the share lunchers they all come in when it's freezing cold.
Yeah, I know I wanted to be like below freeing. I want to be miserable.
You think so good.
That's well, I guess we haven't .
experienced yet because two times that we have fished in texas after I event, it's been like that. But the fishing hasn't been great. It's more just like, well.
time I ugh my fish .
you did you know in in the .
defensive the fishing uh just we're flying to do these events. We have like a rain suit and and we're out there trying to fish in twenty five hour winds, storms years around. We don't have the gear to be able to survive the condition.
So we don't really know if the big fish were buying. They are not. We can only make for like an hour before we had to get back to the funding. To me, the thurday .
that we there when I was seventy and Sunny, seem like a really good fishing day.
Yeah, no, I whenever is he like that, you you're not going to catch as many. And now that only about when that I don't like that that enough for nobody can cut that out here. But whatever is many some reason, big as well.
I've got all my biggest fish, like around these giant potto bus. The color is Better. So yeah.
well, well, well, we'll see what happens you know down there the the weather you know can easily go either way. And you famously remember this from the classic you chase the cold water in that tournament that .
when you said when you set that on our live show, just and after the classic, that completely changed my medal, fishing that for the fast ring and IT freak, IT worked like, IT worked like, I won early season tournament, not given a damn about the .
water time, about the trying .
to find the warmest water. Don't matter, hammer just won the class. I going to call the stuff on the lake.
Mean, is all of that the fish you want to target now, I want to target the most breeze phone fish out of, and there the healthier fat is the most reliable, so forget to step is found are certainly ish, you watch right?
yeah. Well, that that was amazing that you did that we're talking about a little bit about spot. Have you been fish near at all later? Because we're going we going there in a couple weeks. I'm current.
I never been there. No can ever been there. I went to go so bad like .
it's really good yeah .
I wonder to the school in in on the fall pattern imagine there um but the be all spotted best you know four and five pounds spotted best everybody's to be thrown at top order you know what I want to be thrown.
Thank you, Jerry.
Thank you.
And the same .
that's also.
that's rough treatment I get around this place.
Yes, much money. You and you know know even .
worse .
that .
I fight this with my son, with my son were out fish over the weekend and you know he he loves catching on, you know, guides and fire and all kinds of, you know, technical stuff. Use plane around getting Better with and i'll let him control control motor a lot and I just fired to thank you around. There's another one. There's one and he starts cutting me and the thank you you know get to find some like, look, dude, whatever whatever IT takes you just you throw the tool that works, that's all you do.
I just put up a facade so that people don't think I throw IT. It's all like juice probably just got a phone.
Yes, we have. We forgot to do I just snow king and I do not disturbed just for this. This show got.
yeah, we got .
you back. Well, now I got you back. We got we have got some interesting things that .
up they don't hear.
Can you hear .
us now you got, you got a audio that would be thumbed ed down. I guess you came here if you might have to go out and come back in which I think he is already figured out. That's what you got to do all text just yeah right yeah that's yeah that that you will lay off the sano man because you guys are all negatively input.
Like, I don't care. I don't throw the second thing except for its utility. But no, but I have a of using a lot and I have done well with IT yeah from time to time.
But like what I teach jack and I teach everybody that I work with is like, and I don't care, you ve got to pick up a jerk bay. You ve got to pick up a spinner bay. You ve got to pick up a stick bay.
What whatever you pick up, you need to have equal confidence that you're gona be successful with that. And and every single tool has its job so you can get down on and you know where you know I think he gets IT now didn't think about IT. IT gets IT for me because I hate on the .
drop shot yeah he .
hears me cuts in the drop shop because like IT though, every single time I I wanted throw IT yeah I go to pick up the rod and the way that it's tangled with something where somewhere or or I have one of the wait, you know, the good wait keepers and I go to grab my rod and I hook myself with the drop hoo because it's exposed. It's like everything of that that is. But i've chAllenged myself this year.
I've been thrown in IT started over the summer. I keep IT out and i'm thrown more. And i'm trying to stop eight. Think hopefully going to stop painting on that. You permanently.
Yeah yes, sorry about that.
That that happened sometimes when we get a call. But A I was going to ask you this question because load of there's lot changes going on. I notice you know everybody who's talking about ford facing so we keep her to kill IT basin to schedule a tournaments that do, I guess, specially phrased as they don't favor ford facing sooner. How do you feel about the new schedule or whether to keep that technology or where's the classic .
chap 是 我们 um i'm excited about the schedule is am an I just like that kind of fishing, like that's kind of where I grew up. But I mean, obviously in alabama, i'm a swim jg flipped and frog in in the heart, but also just being able to use that like mager pay in those weird and areas like a sufficent river systems. So it's kind of cool.
That's what i've been able to take that Jerry, kind of a do those different things on different on bodies the water wouldn't expect. So yeah, i'm excited about things can be good and sorry, the technology I mean, i'm i'm order I think is great. I only catches me fishes again so yeah, i'm i'm all about IT why I know .
you were talking on you're seminar about you're noticing that you have to get further and further away from fish is is that try and continuing where you know that that you still you got to get up there around one hundred feet now to trigger start sometimes .
yeah for sure. And I I think I have more to do with just the amount of boat pressure in general. You know, I mean, these these fish are getting so educated and the further you can stay off of man, they not know you're there. No doubt IT IT makes a difference in getting especially as big of fish yes, getting them to trigger .
yeah any tips for that distance? I know you mentioned like just we talked about casting distance and that's a problem with the with the silent ones but just being able to cast that that far, that is that the best tip. Is there any other strategies for for trigger those fish from a distance.
get your cast land up, like as soon as you see those fish that mean you have to just try a bomb that get your angle, get everything kind of a sell up right to where you're not, you know what I mean, especially like if it's a like a brush power per say, you know, don't just flying IT out there just because you immediately saw that out there. Make sure you know if its a super forecast, get your back to the wind a little bit but don't be coming up on IT too hard you know set about upright before you make that cast patience .
yeah that's that's hard to do because you know you see those fish gets so worked up up but you ve got to yes, it's still it's just like position in the brush pile. You've got to get that boat positioning right yeah.
just because you say that dog, you know there, that mean you're gonna immediately sling your gig just to skip under you. You get that boat right? How you need a how you need to get a position to make that right? Yes, same ways of offshore fish.
Yeah well, um talk we talked about the the schedule. You're excited about that. That's cool. You're into the technology. They now the the rookies this year kind of man, there was a lot of drama going on with, you know, guys, don't don't how did that affect you? What you take on IT.
but we didn't affect me IT off. I an I I just hate all the negativity that came out of the sport this year that that me was like don't think I guess the effect to me was we're getting to fish for a living and IT just suck. There's so much back and forth about arguing about how I mean, in the day I don't think any one person on either sad is gonna right now.
You know, there are some things that the rocky might have done that I not just not thankful, get their act together, whatever, in similar rolling the office for person, I hope, hope we can work back and stuff out. But now, as far as new rook isn't stuff like that. Oh, I was in their shoes not too long ago.
And you know, I don't feel like everybody welcome me with open arms either, not at this point, because I did come in and work advice. But so I think that calls a lot issue just how good they are. But now I I think it's good for the sport because I think it's literally what we and IT been working from school to college do.
The especially the whole nine opens. I mean, they get the best of the best. And I think we did and .
IT so yeah they all made the classic um IT was just a tremendous a rookie season. Of course, I didn't face you hardly at all. I mean, you were in their battling for a um but those guys did good I think you know and I got to admire a lot of the work ethic of those of that rookie class in particular I mean, a lot of their success is just coming from blood, sweat and tears and um know that s sometimes that that gets lost in the shuffle, but did they mean those guys are putting in so much time, uh, and learning so much about these bodies of water and they did a phenomenal job this year. So you got you got to take out of for that.
absolutely. I'm never going to falter. Try to complain about somebody put in the working doing that you know it's more proper to and you .
ve got another rocky class come on in. It's looks pretty hot, you know, for this year. So it's it's going to continue uh, I mean, the elite are continue to build themselves to to be the best top level Fishermen on the planet because this next crop has got some talented veterans and some brand new guys. It's it's quite a new group of guys.
Yeah, yeah. Just know the, you know the marsh. They are already good. They are. But that eaten father, girl, that kids could be a problem that you can catch.
Well said, yeah, he picked up two, two winds this year, in addition to the A O Y S. Another year.
I was in thirty for one of the winds. I thank you was that you follow and just sit watching today. And like, hearing is hold out process and like, you know a lot of stuff that done even get shown on of whatever. But that he has a market, he is just fishy, you know I mean and he wouldn't scared to like make those decisions, just he catch to the big one and I are I know, no, I get this warm, but i'm just gonna go off the river and start slowing in chat bate and two foot and dining and hesitate day one of them filled out of the 外卖 yeah。
Um well, I know there there's feel the same way about you there. There are the kids that are coming in and they are leg h. We got to content with with just in all the rests.
So you're set in yourself apart that way and it's great to see me and and appreciate so much. Appreciate you being import of back. The seminars that you put together for us are are phenomenal. And if helped, a lot of guys get confident in particular in a gerba vision.
I appreciate yeah thank you. I have made, and I don't know, I just like fashion.
Well well, I look forward to hearing about this a this new secret that you're work and on me and we got to get this um I want to get an eyes on and I hope when you get this thing ready that you'll come on and and share IT with this and shows .
with the final product look like so excited this is some of wanted to do for years. It's just like my am I can to do this or you know I wish you could do this so get my hands on and myself is pretty awesome.
yeah. What do you have a time when you think you'll bring IT out? Uh, this you know next year.
what do you think it'll be out next year? I can't save point, but definitely next year.
Okay.
I wish you had had a more fun time, but i'm not really releasing IT this right. So when I get right to send us.
send some prototypes bases will will give you our opinion if you if you need IT.
okay, we will. Yeah, we'd love to look at that .
and like that when it's done, you make sure have you on and we'll talk all about the finish product and look forward to that and look forward to a seen at this year's classic men hopefully get that cold whether you're looking for hi yeah.
it's to be great time the way. But thank you. Help me come on. Whenever you get ready, fit there back in the winter time one time.
yeah. How about we schedule that? Would do a couple.
Let's talk about jerk bates in the winter time. I like that topic, but but thanks so much. Just appreciated. Congratulations on a great year and and we'll catch up with you. Well, we're going to catch up with in a couple months to talk about winning time.
Fish I look forward to. Thank you.
没 are you bet? Have a great day. Uh, just in ham or everybody, the classic temp twenty twenty four drop in some knowledge on us.
So interesting things. I love that chase and that cold water now, yeah, that blue by a lot of people, I imagine. And that was a powerful, yeah, uh, that's to take away from that seminar.
Yeah and you know for me like what like what the fundamental shift IT did for me when we had him on post classic talking about that that strategy was that IT made me a IT made me painfully aware that like there is a lot of factors that go into finding fish in the springtime, but there's more factors that more important factors that go into finding biting fish in the springtime.
And for me personally, one of the mental hurdles that I had to overcome was like when I would get around, I know around fish, but the water to say, the water temps forty three and I can get in the back for creek in the water temps forty seven, that doesn't mean that those fishing in the back, that creek, are going to be biting Better just because the waters warmer. If the fish that are in forty three have, uh, Better fruit source, they have Better current, they have Better habitat to live on, those three things are probably in out way. That one factor in water temperature.
And when he said that that made the light bob go off, that water temperature in the early spring is not everything. It's a factor. It's definitely a big factor. But there are other factors that if you have five things stacked up against this one, one thing, you have a lot Better chance getting those fish to buy and down.
And he worked, he said, IT. And I agree with him as the fictional nature of the response base that have moved into that warmer water is is a problem, uh, right? If the conditions are benefiting, you work a warming trend, stable conditions than that warm water, water surge can be a real positive.
But you know, in the springtime, the the weather changes, in the the temperature drops, you so the presidence can move up and then they can pull back. They can get active, becoming an active whether if you just back up a step and target those colder water responders, they're stable feeding. They're going what you're going to do, yes, independent on the weather change.
So uh, really fascinating study and help and this all become Better Angels. Uh, at bh university, we're going to take quick break, joss, or you got something you want to share OK. Well, we're going to be given away some great prize that hope you are paying attention because we're given away one of the new basho hood's and some crush city bates, and we're to be doing that right after this. To help you, everything looks good. I'm for starve in men been in .
all hi bro.
what you want? I'll take a crush city free loader er and desert shed anything to drink water ahead please. We're going to what he mean in A D, B, T, two. Hand with him if you think he's going to under the wall, play here, awk of you. Um Mandatory .
equipment in my boat, I say IT all the time the small most hide in the cracks of the rocks and just saw a little bit of the same pano ck the cracks in IT. And I realized that I had to put a bake out there and you wouldn't, you know I A little room and and see along the stream put a big down there and suck out of all of you bigger sist on this one doors.
Best, best persic git, just.
Coffee.
the angle is ritual a reason. Leave your cozy covers, even if you aren't headed into the river.
We started english coffee because, well, we love to fish. We love coffee and we care. Think of IT is the .
rise before the rise.
Why do you love cash and fish road?
I'm truly losing less fish.
Is the sensitivity of the right .
that my right here in OK, in the U. S. A strongest latest road, one hundred. And in same.
the drop shot road, the flip and stick, every rod had a purse for IT and reliability .
in junker's S. T, T. handle. I found that you .

ice foundation will be in woodland this weekend doing a hook a really where they're gna take one hundred kids um and give them rod reel tackle boxes and we're going to teach him how to fish. So if you are not busy on saturday and not to volunteer.
we could use the volunteers yeah kid fish, it's amazing what IT can do. Um the um so many kids these days, uh, I was lucky, my dad fish, so he took me fishing. Uh, a lot of people that I work with, they are dad, uncle grandpop take took them fishing with a lot of kids.
Um don't have a relative that fishes, uh they're learn and fishing on on the internet on youtube, they are excited about IT. Uh but they don't really have A A A A way to get out there and learn how to do IT. So it's a great event.
So check IT out this. We can go to I foundation that ward, uh, if you can, participates m down and and health. Some kids learn how to do this. Awesome sport. The weather should be nice.
which is awesome. Andy, dress up .

So we look forward if showing you guys are our new stuff that is we think you're really gonna like showing off the talents and the capabilities we think we're the best in the world and uh, producing content to teach us people had to fish.
Speaking of what is being release of speaking of, uh, this week in the on the water um my laptop is also just frozen so i'm going na do my best if I say have a wrong date here on something guys please fare with me. But this week in the all the water category um we are releasing a jerk beat master class and that is going to be an indep look, an independent in everything you need to know as IT pertains to jerk bait fishing.
Uh so you definitely want to stay tuned for that one. And then this week in the on the waters we are releasing David or absorb mike I an ally, fundamentals of the free rig. Uh, the free rig is a technique that has burst onto the scene in the last couple of years here. And IT has some amazing, amazing potential to put fish in the boat for you when other other bag simply just won't. And um it's a technique that started out in japan.
And um mike, I can only got to experience that technique first hand in japan in the early on days of a of of that of that technique comment about but since IT has evolved into being able to do a lot of different things with IT as they as most techniques do, they get advanced, people start tinkling with things. And now you can use IT in applications almost with a power fishing approach. Um so you definite want to go check that one out. Free rig fundamentals with mike I an ally. Um it's a the sneaky little technique to put a couple extraversion in the boat in a day on the water.
I this year on the the toyo's series we had a one my codes which using the free rig to great success for smaller um really, really cool stuff we just filmed in A A, B F S, uh, b fish B I say that .
a thing .
I learned .
systems well.
The rod, the cash of bfs rod is like one of the best selling rod for this technique out there and and mike goes in the detail about how he's using this technique and what he's learned about IT is very popular. Be from be able to throw micro vibrating jays and there's many jerk bates and all that yeah stuff with a bag casting system to trigger strikes uh in you know in pressured water and in situations that you know you're more traditional techniques size bates, uh can't trigger so really cool stuff that's gonna come .
an anomaly. Guys guys real quick. Um check out uh in the member benefits page on the bh university site. Um you can save money on aww cameras and let me tell you if you have not checked out, uh okay campus if you haven't used one, um you want to get your hands I emitted aid. The up until this year I I hadn't learned quite as much how to apply IT and you know but now that I had that are becoming effective and efficient using an awkward camera IT is mind blowing what you can do with these cameras to make you more efficient when you're out on the water. Um in my in my scenario, IT is played for me several times in practice um you know yeah yeah hook a fish.
You shake a fish off underneath of a dock and then you drop that camera down there and you say, wow, this is gone from A C dock to an a plus plus area dog when you get to see what really lives down there and what's down there below and IT really solidifies um what we think we know is Angels from above the water. You can put that awk of you camera down there and IT proves what's really under the water and uh, the possibilities are endless of what you can do with this thing. It's not only just to see fish, it's to see habitat.
It's to see, uh, every type of marine life out there. So check out at at oak awe document and in the member benefit side of bast university. You can save some money on your act.
We can. Yeah, it's a secret of the first later. Guys are not really think about IT that much, but they're .
