We're glad. Have you guys with this? I know the fishing um has been to take around here, like I was saying before, I bet IT is in your place to the the weather conditions have just been off the charge with a you a warm weather, just unseasonably more water temperatures. So um have the um IT has been crazy good is just just may have figured out think you have a figured out.

I I still didn't change the things. So what I I don't know what that was. I don't know what was going on.

I don't know today.

I think body hacked into the show a good that's when we got go along with .

that yeah i'm i'm i'm really .

sure what was going on there. But start folks .

that we're up and run in and like said, it's been season seasonably warm uh oh my god. The test week decides the fish being caught on the test. How many seven pounders now there is like every day we're hearing about one.

just I know at least I mean the at least five and just last week and guys I mean guys from .

texas and florida and that may that may be a common of current, but we don't see that on IT up here. And and we're seeing there's big ones common because the water temperature. So we're Normally this time the air we're blade fishing, you know um all kinds of you know cold water tactics that we've got an employee. I think the water tempt, you're still hovering around six. Have you been out lately?

I have been out of, but from my reporters is still in a man fifties, in the high fifties wants to everything like.

you know, that means anything goes.

anything goes, the crack that lets on written that O G swim, you know, all good stuff.

You know it's wide open at fifty degrees and another test b and it's wait up in, you know, i'm sure it's it's similar conditions where you live. So let us know as the fish around your way ve got a great show. We're talking about co angers.

Um it's such a you know such an exciting part of fishing that uh so many people love to do. They um and IT IT gets access to to this awesome sport uh in a way that you know is is reasonably cost effective. You you don't have to have a boat.

You don't have to have, uh you know a hundred thousand hour truck to tell IT. And yet you can go and compete ternate ent all over the country. Uh, was a really fantastic angles.

Get exposed to new techniques, learn stuff. Uh, you know, it's it's it's a great way to enjoy the sports. So many people love IT and um you know we're very excited to have this year's open uh points later. Uh just he just crushed IT .

nica r is going to .

be with this today and he he just crushed IT eight, eight and nine years.

Yes, there was a pretty tty impressive that that that big of a lead. So i'm i'm excited to talk to him because a, you know I did a little bit of cow angling. So uh, i'm sure he proudly had some some cool voters like I did IT over the years. And the curious, he learned any stuff from them or if he just put a beat down on abul, so what .

you frustrating boaters, you know, after people complain about me.

yeah yeah, two hands on the net, my friend, two friends on that 也是。

he's probably still complaining about me.

There's no there's no nets in .

the open open right now so this is i'm glad you brought up up let's bring you up with the nike because um I don't like I tell i'll handle my fish you handle your fish if you need me color at me but you know I I don't want that responsibility of landing my fish on my cow you know that's too much pressure, uh, so much you got trouble hooks flying around. I'm interested to see how his partner handled IT with him like did they help each other?

Yeah, you're talking about the opens. Like you're just hand on your fish on yes, on the toyota. I like being able to to nap my british fish. Like, say, if I had a scalper that wasn't sixty feet of water on plane, I get many, but at least net fish keeps me in the game little bit. Makes you makes you the team.

You know I think that's true. That's that's a good point. Well, I I do that on the toy oders. I I do work with my a partner with the net on the toyota um but on the on the opens it's like hand landing of fish is skill, man that's that's something that need needs to be practiced a lot.

Yeah to put you your your title into a six pander, you got to want to you know A D T, six with travel hooks all over the place. Uh, you know there's I I want to be responsible for catching or losing that fishing and not um not put that on the code but I make sure to see how how his partners and that him this week or very py, I just want, yeah let's go out and do that. I wanted before you do give, let me give a couple shout out because I want to talk about this too.

We had a treat to be with the folks at human bird, uh, this past week. That's why we weren't live uh, shut out to raise uh, human and I join uh the amazing of folks at human burden gump powder and we we saw amazing stuff that we can talk about. We will be we will be talking about IT on december nine.

Uh, but we're really excited. We think you're gonna really like IT to and I want to give a shout out to rise who is not here today. But we will be back with this next week and we'll dive in a little bit more details.

We got to do a little spot, best fishing Jason which was I am jealous yeah really cool l stuff using looking at ment with ford facing so not really interesting stuff but will talk about that more after so um he's here with this. I'm really excited to have with this the co anger of the year of the bass masters. I go over, mark, how are you going .

but good so how are you guys do today?

We're great. We're great. We're glad you with this um I was down some preparation on the show and I mentioned already but uh eight out of nine checks in nine turn ament that's virtually that's a perfect start that is perfect you can possibly be yeah .

IT was IT was a fun season. I wasn't expected to have that good of the season, to be honest with you. I was hope and I would do. I was hope and I do well, but I as far as expectations go blue way past that um I went the second turn ament of the year was the one turn and I didn't get a check and then the following seven I went seven straight.

Ah I .

think after logan Martin, now that really helped pick up th Epace q uite a b it.

of course. Uh, you ve got the win at logan Martin, which was uh which was a you know just part of an incredible season and so many people watching. We get every time we talk about cogers, uh, man, we get A A A big viewers a you know people love to do IT h is successful to so many people and um you're you're just graduate of bath university. It's interesting you decided to do IT as a co this year. Um take us through that what was gone through your mind.

you know so and I kind of SAT down before I started the season. I was sit down with my parents trying to decide what I wanted to fish, how I wanted to go about IT, where I wanted to go. And I think the big thing was, was I was still in college.

I know there was plenty of guys, plenty of guys in college fishing the opens as a voter. But I felt for me at the time, and my skulls set in what I had going on, uh, I felt like I personally needed to improve. I'll be the first to admit that my college career wasn't dynamic, but IT was good. I had some good tournaments, but I needed I felt like I needed a little extra push and I felt that the eighteen days out of the back of the boat was going to be that push and uh, I definitely think that helped quite a bit in the confidence level as well as I was still in school um for half of the sea and I graduated in may. Um so I wasn't able to travel as much and take as much time to practice for an open as you would if you were about man.

that sounds like you made a good decision. You um it's so cool to have your parents invested and they're behind this for that. I mean, that's great. You see that in a lot of other sports, the sacrifices that parents make uh to help their kids through you know college sports college in general, that man that that that warms me to to see that that your parents are engaged and they're behind. And this that's awesome.

right? They have they've supported me since day one. I my dad's been taken me fishing, and we still have the boat.

I caught my first bus and I caught my first best out of the nineteen and ninety seven champion that he got. And I think two thousand and three. So I and I still fish out of IT. I was fishing in the last weekend. So I I mean, he's he's the one that put fishing in my blood, never sends me and him and my mom just ran with IT as far as .

we can that's fantastic tic in nineteen ninety ninety seven championnet .

is IT red and why it's purple .

and light my I was just thinking at my that was my first show in nineteen ninety seven yeah way back in the day that that that's great he so he took you first my my parents I remember this like IT was yesterday um because I you know went to school. I worked for about four, five years and uh I remember them being a real sceptical like, oh, man, you you're gonna go fishing for you now back then I wasn't like IT is now um IT was you know did not have the no variety that IT has now but the you know one of the things that really helped me and I think it's not help, it's got to help your parents too, is I I want a boat in like my in my second tirlemont and I kind of let them see that, okay, this this is a variable. You know, maybe this is something viable that he could do because they would just terrify the, I just go out there and and be efficient bomb and wind up on the stress somewhere that, yeah, I was kind .

of worried my parents. We're gonna feel the same way. I was like, we'd Better make something happen. We're gonna realize this lot of money.

Well, I you know you win in text in every turn and has gotta fill them with confidence because, uh and IT fills me with confidence for i'm third ly impressed because that is not easy to do uh especially as a coin or right you know where uh, so much is not in your control and right, you know that they'd been able to as an angle you got IT would just that all the fishing conditions that are common at and then you have the extra variable not known how you going to be finishing. Uh, you know what you know whether you guys catch them or not, there's there's that whole other variable that, that makes an incredibly difficult to be consistent as a co I, how do you how do you do that?

Well, the the thing that made me nervous about going into the beginning of the year was, as I had only spent three days as a co. Anger in my life before I started, they wanted oka robe this year for the opens. So I only had three days of, only at three days of experience as a cogers before the season IT started.

嗯, so I kind of went in blind. I, I was, I was nervous. I, I packed my truck up and my, I called my parents the night before the turn ament and said, well, what are you bring in the october that I unloaded my boat? I have IT entirely in the back of the truck.

I don't know, but I have everything because that's so what that's so used to what i'm doing. And h, that's all i've ever known and is like being in college. And fishing in the front of the boat to a transient string to the bat took a little bit of time to get used to and so I would I was just trying to pack as much as I could and in some ways that hurt me and in some ways that helped me.

But um IT was IT was definitely a change. IT was a good change. IT was a good mix up. IT was a spice. IT was a spice. Things up a little bit that you know fishing, once you start doing the same thing over and over and over again, I feel like the feeling starts to become a little bit jaded. And I feel like the co angler side of things this year really, really made IT interesting and made IT a lot of fun out, a lot of fun fishing 那些。

That's that's terrific. How did you, how did you par IT down? Like I I just, I just read an article from eyes that he wrote about is, you know how he pack or at the anger and what he recommended but man, and that had to be know, that got to be the most chance you got to take that whole truck. 嗯, never down in a one bag yeah .

and IT it's IT gets pretty difficult, especially when you think you got one tacco bag. I mean, one decent size bag holds maybe six boxes and you don't want to be the co anger to bring their entire boat on the back deck. Mean, you hear stories about guys that speak about them.

You know, try and bring what you need. You don't have to bring your entire boat. I bring my whole boat to the tournament, but I don't bring IT on the boat. Uh, I I try and keep IT simple. I I try and packed myself three or four boxes and terminal being one of them. I I was lucky enough that Austin cranford and mad Adams kind of took me under their wing this year and let me practice with them for all of the opens this year. And uh so I was able to practice with them and kind of get an understanding of what was going on.

So by the time the tournament came around, I had a pretty good indication of what I needed to pack for right where where where IT starts to get to become an issue as a co anger packing is when you start packing soft plastics, because you, like I said, you only have room for four, five, maybe six boxes if you're lucky. And plastics take up a lot of room, so making sure you have little like I keep mine. And a rubber band system, pretty much I organized by technique, and band up the ones I need and talking in my side pouches.

And that's really how I kind of break down. What I am going to pack for a tournament is practice for the event, and then from there decide what are going to be the main keys and the main things I need to be focusing on. Because as a coiner, I feel like, to a certain extent, it's about catching good fish.

You want a way. Good fish. You don't want a way. Bunch a line burners, but a limit is very, very important with a cow because I feel like if you weigh a limit with a cow, you're already miles ahead of quite a bit of the field because it's pretty difficult to do sometimes.

Yeah yeah, that's that's great advice. And uh it's interesting how you pair IT down. I know the ribs were always a something that um I used to take advantage on.

Codes be straight out the we in IT when early on they didn't have rogram or lower covers or any of us self. So by the time we would get to a fishing spot, the the cohler rod would be all tangle. The lords raft around me and I can get at least five casts, you know, first but that situation is going away.

All the technology with the rod covers and self, uh, seen that really help. Uh, do you use those? I mean, is that part of your game?

I I use them during travel. Uh, I don't on the boat. Once I take, once I get to the parking model, take the leave off of them. And then from there i'll wrap the line around the guides just to hold the line in place. So IT doesn't rap, but I feel like the west, I can bring on the boat the Better.

So if leaving a bunch of my real covers and my rod covers in my tailgate is gonna save my boat from having to adjust something in his compartment to put IT in there, ah, I feel like that that saves a lot of trouble. And I just goes a long way in their eyes. I feel like, I feel like IT makes you look like you don't want to load their boat down and try and be respectable.

So that's that's kind of my opinion on that. Now I do at times like sand Clair, this year, you're using a bunch of spinning rods. Spinning rods get tangled very easy now, and they are very large guide, so they hit on a lot more stuff.

There are a lot more fragile. You're gone to break a six ten spinning around a lot faster. Red, you are a seven eleven broom stick. So on those I do, but for the most part, I try and leave those in the truck.

I got you that's IT at let's great strategy and a certainly work well for you just and I were talking about i've mean, they're so much we want to talk to about. So I want to throw out to Justin vics. We have talking about the techniques being what was successful, what was not. I mean, I mean, do you just what what do you where do you want to take IT on state?

I wanna just talk about some. I'm assuming you've probably you probably had two or three techniques that must Carry for the whole seas and stuff that you relied on. Uh, I just wanna talk about what you know what kind debates are you a finance guy where you been around the end? Or you know I I really .

expected to come into the year being like spinning road driving, you know drop shot, White rig, neo reg, things like that. And IT IT ended up being quite the opposite for quite a bit of the year. And I wait in quite a few fish on a big football jg with twenty online.

Wait quite a few fish on quite a fishing on a frog. And I got this frog right here. This is one of the White, White show pop in frogs.

Are I wait in a time of base on that this year, from lead to across to you name IT IT seemed like as long as there wasn't small mouth involved, this frog up bit this year and then not a football jg just have found football jg with some kind of cross yle trailer or a twenty tail grab. Ah those were my top and bottom techniques really. And and that's mainly what I tried to focus them on, was a surface techniques in bottom.

It's uh specifically for the reason that in the world of forward facing sonar and guys scope individual fish as much as they are. Uh it's a lot more difficult to do that. Whereas I feel like if you're out in twenty five for the water, you have a Better chance to drag in a gig on the bottom and hit stump and get throw on a swing back six foot under the surface right?

fascinating. Um that's that's really good stuff. Did you what did did that happen to you? I mean, I have.

Did you spend a lot of time scope with your part out? I guess that my question is how many times were you purely with scopes or more with conventional anglers? How did how did that season go this year?

I'd say I was split pretty well. I I had my fair share time on the bank this year, which was nice, but I did have quite a bit of time where I was getting scoped. And I had days were I had, I believe, two tournaments, two or three turnout this year where I never saw the bank in the tournament.

wow. So sank Clair was one of them, and then leach lake was one of them that I never saw the bank. Uh, I saw the bank a few times at each. Not very, very, very rarely, though most of my guys were offshore fishing, not necessarily scope, but offshore fishing, a lot of I had a lot of guys who write scope and use use scope.

But they they will try and do IT in ways to where they wouldn't be root to me as far as a cohler, I think voters are starting to realize that, uh, you know, I think they've heard enough from their co anglers and they're starting the honestly kind of get a little bit more respect, I think, and uh, allowing co english to be able to cast and do their thing out of the back of the boat as well, out a lot of boats this year. Then you know, man, if if you want to throw up there, you can and I never did because I didn't want that. That would be when I caught a big one and an issue would arise.

But um I mean for the most part and the boaters don't back C U. As far as I my experience goes, everyone has been super awesome with that. Uh I mean, even i've had boats this year.

We like, man, i'm i'm fish this tree. But when I turn the boat around, there's a tree back there you can throw out. I mean, they they try and work with you as much as possible.

Man, that's awesome. And that's great to hear because, you know, I have done that. You know some with my part. You feel, man, you feel bad when you, when you're out there in the abyss and there's at a target uh, for your code to throw out. So and that's really, really cool that they go out other way to try to like steer you in the direction. Anyway, there might be a point over here or rock file or right and shoot for that's that's great to hear.

But yeah, it's it's it's really cool to see that because I wasn't really sure how that was going to work going into the season. Like I said, especially never really like understanding how to be a good angle before and learning IT in the world of forward facing sonor. I feel like was pretty interesting but I feel like I kinda mp stic yeah there is only so many there's a handful debates. I feel like you can get bit on as a cow, especially out in the middle .

yeah so and that jack that jack was a was a great choice. Um that's fantastic. Just just not that you ve had a couple experiences last year were where the voters were like, look, I know i've been handed up in yet. Let me try to take you to where you can catch a few or cattle. Women.

yeah, yeah. I had that on on shapland. E, I, you know, I feel like shape ane is probably anomaly for a kanga, especially the time year that we were there, like those guys were scope in sixty photo water and would see one fish every thirty minutes.

And um you know they're not on the bottom, they're twenty foot suspended. So I can't really drag anything or do anything like that. But but yeah I I was a winter gill one day and after after he caught twenty one pounds, we we went to the bank for a couple minutes.

Got got me a couple. But yes, did you ever have that? Did you have IT where you were that deep and that foreign, the vase with a jig in? Or we had a making adjustment .

the last day of the season, I was with a gentleman, just graduated from our university not too long goes named a sam hai, and we were fishing for schooling. Spotted bus on day two. I like Martin, uh, there were times the deepest we caught the bus is he caught one out of one hundred and twenty eight, and I caught one out of one hundred and .

seventeen on the bus.

They were suspended, but they were, oh, they were about sixty five feet deep, suspended over one hundred, fifteen hundred and twenty.

That is that super deep. IT was so fun.

though he was. He had the two motor on ten. So I I think that's fun.

I I like watching boers do that sometimes, specially if I already have my limit. Like, you know, because that gets the boaters fired up too. You know, IT puts tempo on the day. IT makes like the day flow well yeah so I like when we all get fired up and start chasing and fish around on scope even if I am A O anger that's .

that's really cool and that energy is important. That really is because if you can get into a dark place where you you're battling each other and and uh IT really makes IT makes for a long fish and day.

right right? And everyone knows those days that don't go your way and you know, you start noticing the little things, you know. So I got to go to work tomorrow.

Oh, my backers, my feet, heart. You know, I wish I wouldn't lost that fish this morning, you know. But I feel like if you get that good energy in the boat early IT rights the day and IT makes IT IT honestly improves your turn ament no.

that great micros bring me an english coffee in the morning got to be a great deck.

Everyone needs that wake up.

yes. Well, that's that's strake. When you were on the fighter best where you were, you just blind like casting to suspended fish or you are what summer had a that work.

So this was actually my set up for lake Martin was a hazard on, shared a little though, and this is a corner around drop shot weight. But I was thrown to three eighth and a half because they were chased and big so fast by the time you got your bed around where that ball was, they they would already move if you were throwing anything lighter than three, eight. So would already be eighty feet, the other direction.

So, uh, we ended up bumping on a little bit heavy, heavy weights. But I mean, as far as bait selection with the my cap t pretty sample IT was just a drop shot with a uh mag has a on shared at three inch and color really didn't seem to matter too much. I feel like one spotted best kind of get clued in another day and they're going to school, they're gonna bite what you throw out. And so I think that helps quite a bit too.

Well, we had a unsimilar experience. We I just got back from lake in year last week and those spotted but when they but like you said when they called, uh, that's when h you know when you a lot of people know that but when they're actively push back surface, they're very, very cattle, right but that was in that what what you need deal what you need just so many people think and and it's interesting that you say that was, uh, a lot of uh, people think that you've got to be super light, super fantastic catchum on my zone arba. Uh, it's important to get that date down quick in a lot. So the heavy or weights like the three, eight and half ah i'm hearing a lot more talk about that later.

right? And even in a prime example at a logan Martin, another cus a river lake in alabama, uh, I, I, I had big bus at the turn ament on day one and IT was a five one spot and I caught him. Well, I think IT was a five, eight sounds way.

I mean, water as deep as your ankle just hit, just knocked him in the head with they. They just love to react to stuff, anything fast moving. They love IT.

That's that's well, congratulations on that, wm, and that had to be I had to be a pretty big moment for you.

IT was, IT was awesome. Thank you. Said I was. I I never expected, I never expected a when to happen next year, especially that fast. To get off to that quake of the start was was mine bugling. And I think that I think the the special thing about loggin marton was I my parents. I was a good angle out of the back of the boat, and my parents got to watch me catch every single one of my fish. And they didn't even bring our boat because we fished at the boat right on day two.

what?

What does I fished? I fished eighty yard from the boat. Rap on day to log in.

Martin and weight, twelve pounds home. My parents got to watch the entire thing. All my family was there, my grandparents there was, there was awesome.

So that is so cool. I bet that I guess you guys had a nice celebration on.

yeah, we were celebrating, were just on back.

That's really cool. That what what was that deal like, uh, was at a released fish pattern. What was your bottle on of what was know what went down at the.

uh, so I got in the boat with my batter that morning and he said, you know, he said he's been in sarcastic. He said, you know, if I tell you, he said, you said, you are pretty close to the rap stern, right? I said, yes, sir.

I said that we didn't go very far at all. He goes, what we're making a really, really long run today. And I have no experience on log in, Martin, and we stayed fairly close and practice.

So I don't know how long of a run a long run is to this guy, right? And so we get through or they call our number and he puts IT on pad and he drives around to the other side of the dog where we came through and he shuts the motor off. And I looked at me as like, what's wrong? He is like, this is where we're fishing and we start laughing.

And he said, there's a shared spon that's been going on in the grass on point right here. I'm onna. See if we can't get on the shade spoon about the time he said that there was a school's st.

Fish that started below and bay in that little patch grass. And we were like boat six. So we were like the first ones to get to IT because everyone could see him. I mean, like we were casting through boats to make cast of the grass.

哦。

like we were in, but I was on the outside of the no limit. IT was just all those boats had sucked out. And so IT was just IT was that close? So was just a little shades from deal.

I mean, IT wasn't wasn't anything super technical. And then once the sun got up, but I got on a really good by during practice, flip in a deep bomb. And once that son got up, that that same bit that I caught that spot on on day one, that five found spot was flippin that the bomb. And once that son got up, they really got off that bit, they got locked down into that grass and wood and uh flippin kind of became a predominant techniques from there.

Man, that's that's really cool and great that your family got to see all that right from the bank. Um did they had one when you come in? Did I mean you had a bigger bag one day two and day one? So yeah I I kind.

I kinder had a feeling, uh, I had seven, five one day one, and I was in the lead with seven, five, and I got twelve pounds on day two. So and I had five pounds more than I had on day one. And I was already leading. I was like, yeah, I think I think this ones about about over.

But IT was .

IT was a good feeling. It's not too often you can go back from a go into the final day of the tournament, go away and having ough feeling most of the time, you don't think you have enough.

So yeah yeah, I i'd have to agree you blew the field away and you earn that when, uh, what what a great experience I want to talk I want to go back to a bit that you showed us uh because I think as i'm talking and thinking about this is a coin ry tall frog is is really a bit that meant like I I throw IT in in like very measured areas like i'm not one of those crazy frog guys. You know if the frog bite to one, i'll look forward. I'll try IT. But then it's a great utility tool when the the voters flip in or redoing something else to catch them to use that friend and that's that's pretty sleep, man. And I love that idea.

Yeah, I was a little bit different and I feel like I was a little bit more of an aggressive approach. Is a coin er to be able say like i'm going to bring this seven four heavy in this frog and i'm going to throw up behind you and be able to way back on IT. But is IT IT was one of those deals where IT was just the the areas in the way the lake set up IT was in. But IT was very IT wasn't as target oriented as frog fishing Normally is uh for example, like uh sani Cooper would have been very fat target oriented because the efficient a lot of cypress es the fish were. So a lot of those fish are gonna on the basis of you're going to be want to throw that frag ride up against IT. But when we were going to places like cross and you have a giant duckweed mat that seven thousand yards one and it's all the same depths and your boats go along, I mean, I feel like he's not going to he's not gna pop that frog, walk that frog over every single fish that, uh, that's kind of the way I I approached IT and especially to, like if I noticed my boat was go on a little extra fast and I felt like he was missing stuff, then that's when I would pick up more of a reaction style bid to be able to keep moving along with him and hit those extra .

or targets also. I just I know you you throw from with when you practice with me and that's why, that's why there sticks out to me because you are getting some bites like an open water frog in places that that .

I wouldn't think they throw IT yeah I mean, a frog is, I feel like it's one of the most visual, but you can throw, especially as a go, and angry too, because you can just, you know, you are gonna a hung up. You just can cover water with IT. You can walk IT you pop out and ninety percent of time, so you can pop IT like, you know, fish IT like a little power.

You can do a lot with IT. And and we run the poma graph. I mean that you know to be crazy, not the frag around there.

Wa, that's around for some paradise at time. But I love what you just said. You a frag gives you the the extra casting distance.

What you need is A O you you at a position at times you you know there maybe something that was missed and you can make a hero cast. You can do that with a fraga to hit that and you and you're going to get IT back. It's webs. You can really make risky casts question and still get that yeah and yet triggered a lot of bikes man, that that's that's a speaker little trick.

Me, yeah, and that's one of those deals that is kind of I just realized over time and I was waiting this frog too as well a little bit a daring practice. I wasn't as much. But during the time and a lot of the areas I was in, uh I got really, really sick in there.

And uh, I ended up putting A A found nail way weight in the belley of IT. Just give IT that little extra push down into IT because at first they weren't getting IT very well at all. They were coming up.

They were day one, I mean, they would, they would just eat IT. Then day two, they were slap in at IT and blown IT out of the water. And then I put that now, and then they started check in IT again.

That's that's, that's really cool. And you and you, any frog bikes and that stand out in your .

mind this .

year I did have one at .

which I call a four ren a half pounder. No, not at last at across I caught a four hundred and a half pounder at ross. Ah, I was really in my frog back to the boat needed at my .

road tip how we smoke.

Yeah, I was drill my frag back, frogged back to the boat, he added at my rod tip. I swang out of reaction. He never even went back in the water I hold in mid air. And he just kept going into the boat, and the hook pulled out when I hit, hit the ground.

Oh, that's when you know you're gonna win A O Y. yeah.

Then, you know, stuff like that happened all year long. I IT was just one of those years I could have zg when I should have asked, and I still worked out.

wow, that's man. What what a tremendous season of there are I take what i'm blown away by in this conversation is for, you know, cause everybody's talking about ford facing and all the top finishers are forward facing guys in in the opens. And is there at least that's the impression that we're getting from watching some of this stuff? And to hear you say IT mean IT done even seem like they were outdoing IT, not even half the time for you.

Yeah I I say I don't think I caught a big one offshore earlier in the opens. I don't think I did IT all this year. I I weight I probably weigh seven or eight fish this year, over six pounds. And I don't think any of them can be burden six or seven.

eight. But impressed because I hear the cows are saying, ah I don't want to be a co ford facing. I don't want to get stuff in that.

But now guys are still they're bank. They're competing on the bank. They're competing in between and then you're competing a ATM ford facing.

So you still have a tremendous mix of of different techniques to look at and have fun with as a cope. That's encouraging to me. So I don't think that you would you tell me, is code go out there, have some fun. You're gonna doing a lot of different .

self yeah I I don't think personally I mean, yeah, you might get that guy to its not super enjoyable to fish with but I mean, every guy I got this year and the opens was awesome like super cool people and I don't think that it's as bad as a lot of people say. And I think that's an issue that needs to be addressed, is the fact of so many people are so quick to make judgments on forward facing, so are especially as being a co anger.

But they haven't really spent that much time doing IT. You know they haven't spent a time of time in the back of boat, and I have an neither. I I mean, I spent that full season this year.

That was a great year. But I feel like to a certain extent, a lot of the people are just looking for something to complain about. I feel like that's the natural that's just natural human mind is negative, negative nei kind of stuff.

And I don't think that is very serious at all. I think that coal should go out and do IT. I encourage IT.

Uh, i'm for and for all the big turntable ent organizations keeping forward facing. So and I still think I would still tell my best friends to go fishes ago. I think it's great. I think that allows you to adapt IT allows you to be able to learn in different situations. Uh and I mean, like I said, when I was a day two at lake Martin, we were chased and all the spots around I was laughing and jump in around just watching my voter catching. I was a blast .

so that's the greatest sound boy i've heard uh, in a long time, Justin. Um yeah.

it's all about it's all about mindset. I mean, now with the lifetime cope and stuff like that, I mean, I think you know there are certain lakes where you might not or certain situations that you might not be able overcoming, but allow the time you can never comment and your first excuse when you get off the waters.

I was stuck with a scope all day, so you know, I didn't really get any bites, but it's all my it's all minds that then you can so you can so catch me. I mean, should I got them? And sixty for the water when there was suspended over twenty, and we saw one fish every ten minutes. You know, I mean, I dropped to miki, were onto the vote when they wouldn't eat his bake, come back in on forth facing that called a couple. There's there's ways around IT.

but I mean, I just fishing too. I i've been almost a million times where i've won four, five hours without body. You know I mean, that's part of the gigg in the positive mental attitude that you're talking about.

This is fantastic. And I want I you know lady guys have heard the geral swining w uh P M A H seminars of vast university. Go check that out. And uh but the Steven Browning uh approach is is so strong so I want to recommended guys go check that out of v um because you've got IT me because you've got that positive mental attitude and and I think you have to have a to be a success whether you your code or pro. I mean IT IT just keep keeps you in the game longer.

right? If you let negative energy like build up over time, I feel like IT has a snowball effect on everything you do and affects your work. I think IT affects your personal life. Now I feel like you have to have to stay up beat and you keep problem and what the punch is, get in bad, you know.

Yes.

one thing he said about like just like the energy in the boat, as when p that is so, so huge, I think in for for both english, the Better, and the cat, when that energies airs, it's like more bites. You just get more bites on that tap. no.

But from sure, your brothers pumped to get the net for you and you're pumped and face pump ed and you're Better when you're getting the net for him, right? It's a that's that's important. nothing.

Yeah I definitely thinks of as and IT makes for a good story too. You don't want to get back to away and and like the ornament director ask you how your day was. He is like, okay, you know, you want to be able to, you know, I had fun.

You know, I had a blast. We have fish. We laughed in all day. You know that makes its more up be makes people to listen.

that's great. That's great advice. And uh that's a great day on the water when when a good and and you get IT right there's a lot of pressure you know to do well and you know you start out of the gate, everybody's a generals through the room and sometimes I can take a left turn so um you know having that mental attitude is is is a really great way to get through your tournament, through your deg.

I I wanted ask you about um you fish with a lot of different people. Uh, did you see anything that was like, wow, that i'd learned something new today or I saw guys doing something in a different way? Did did anything stand out to you this year?

Um I mainly more so during practice and things like that, just understanding because I practice with two primary people, I didn't get out with anybody else or do anything. So uh I did from them just understanding how to break down big bodies of water and kind of learning that way. But as far as tournaments go, like daring the tournament itself, I honestly I was really focused on on a lot of what I was doing out of the back of the boat.

And you know especially when you're getting live scope, you need every tiny little clue you can uh so whether that be paint super close attention to, you know the surface water and making sure like I don't see a ball bit that's getting ready to come up to the surface and spotted by start blowing on now kind of paying attention to my surrounding so I wasn't paying as much attention to my boat while he was fishing um i'm sure there was I proud. I just can't think of any right now to be honest with you, but I did fish with a lot of good english and just a lot of the ways they go about things in the way these guys think about things is very, very interesting. And each person has their own thought process, right? So everybody's gonna be different. But the guys that I, you know, I fished the long side this year and i'm getting ready to fish against this upcoming here are extremely, extremely good Fishermen.

That's that's that's great. That's interesting. I brought bring me to a question that I had written down of because this is one of the biggest chAllenges of coin or faces.

And I wonder how I you handle because when you cut, when your boat is on a strong pattern and you guys are going out getting bites in catch o, uh, that's great. Everybody wants that scenario. But this is to be successful as a code.

You got ta thrive when everything fAiling, your boat is not on a good pattern. He is done poorly in the turn ament. Um how how how was that issue? You had to draw some guys. They just seem to be struggling or or got lost. Uh, how did those days go for you?

Um you know if what's funding about that is, as I honestly think one of those kinds days is probably the best day I had in an open .

this year no uh.

my brother, he I think he caught maybe five or six fish and this from went to town and I probably got forty five or fifty of one that I was unbelievable. But it's I think it's just like that.

It's the confidence is the confidence thing that is if if you feel like if you go out there and you feel like you're going to catch them and you're confident about IT mirror with everything and you make sure your equipment all tuned in well and you've done everything you can do and control the control labs, I feel like IT helps quite a bit. Um you know there is times where you're just not around productive water though. I mean, there's gonna be areas that you get into words, its slim pickings and you're not getting very by.

So your batter might be doing somewhere you might get big by it's doing IT, but you're gonna get one every hour to uh, that's when IT kind of gets difficult. And I kind of turn in a more of like a finance approach if the waters dirty after a shaky had uh uh A J son, or if its real clean, uh, a shakey head again or drop shot, shakey had a really a really good important bay. I don't have one right here and I should because that's probably the number one way to go. Anger needs to bring as a shaky head and that's when I usually break something like that out.

I got you that Green advice and uh the the shaking head over the drop. Cha, uh, dropshot is like if I had say of all the coast bates that they throw, that drop shot is like number one on the list that everybody y's throw week, you pick a string head over .

drop shot I do and mainly for the fact that I feel like a lot dropshot fish feeding on site. And so if you don't have clean water, you're gona lose a lot of those bites. You're not going to get nearly as many.

Where is a shake head? And especially if the bites tough to begin with, fish get locked down, they don't want to move around very much, uh, that you know, belly in the mind, that one I feel like sitting up above their head is too. Marchant just needs to be set right in front of their nose and not moving very much at all. I like IT because the drop shop has a time and natural movement just without you even shaking the rod, just you hold the rod, you could think you're hold that rod completely still and that worms not still down there.

Yeah, yeah, you're right. And I love the shake had take on the situation just I both hard core guys in that area, we love their own. That shake I had I .

never got really big into IT until I moved the taxes. yes. So I I grew up about west wasn't a big technique out there. Drop shot was a Caroline jack, things like that as far as bottom back ago, we didn't really throw a shaky. He had very .

much no kid. Well, I know know obviously it's huge and obama, the southeast and it's a it's a player and a lot of a lot of situations. But uh, it's obviously one of the best co england banks that you can throw.

That's that's good advice. I wanted to um what you kind of look to IT a little bit. Uh, you had some tremendous success. Lot of fun as a co gona do IT again or are you going to try from the front of the boat or what what are you looking forward to next year?

We are trying IT from the front of the boat. Uh, I actually just purchase the boat a few days ago. So we got ourselves brand new pretty boat to ride around them. And we're going to try IT from the boat or side this time around and see if we can keep chase in that dream, making the else that's all i've ever wanted do since I was knee high on. I'm bound and determined to find a way to make that happen because plan bees make plan a work.

so. Well, well, you do have A, A, A marketing degree looks like, uh, so that that be helpful and you take on that plan a two yeah.

hopefully I, I, I love doing that kind of stuff. I love marketing. I think it's so cool how people can get out and do that kind of stuff. So .

well, so you're going to take on the opens and you don't boat divisions next year.

Uh, no, sir, i'm gonna do division too. And then I believe I going to do the saint Lance one division one. I've never been there and small month are my babies, and i'm not going to let that one slip on the rock slip on the schedule may not be there for IT.

So if you like that on the frog, I want, I wanted put out the chest, be either.

Yeah, I thought about that one, but I mainly do in division too, because I live about an hour from rayburn where we would start the season. And then I spent four years on kentucky. Get Better though, though the first two are pretty, pretty water to me. 没有。

Well, well, that's that's exciting. You ve got a great tournament, a schedule. You got a lot of confidence, uh, coming off of a great season.

And uh, it's very exciting. It's a great tournament schedule. I like both divisions. Um I think I might missed that, that they have the the early registration or when when is open registration for the opens, do you know?

Um I I believe it's open right now. I have my registration already done. I know a bunch of other people have them posting their confirmations and stuff as well. So um I I might .

might get locked out I think just and I might I might have miss the all I was looking forward to fix ent the the eastern division um you know because obviously their own the chest peak and thousand irelands I love those places and but I will say I still I love to fish the opens I love determines after been even doing IT for so long a man or just there's something about IT that just you know like you said, the energy running around the boat, when when that energy is gone your way. When you when you have this moments where you've died in and solve the puzzle for a period of time, uh, man is just not enough like IT.

right? I'm going to keep .

keep battle in IT try to make my weights back to the classic, uh, at some point. But well, we we look forward to seeing in maybe a thousand islands this year. I know, uh, we may try to, Terry, pick a few if we can get into the whole division.

Uh, you never know. You might see Justin up there with me. I don't know. We, uh, yeah. And we love IT up there.

And it's a it's it's going to be a great tournament, but i'm i'm looking forward to your competing this year. I think you got a great attitude. Uh, you know you you've come you ve got a lot of confidence behind you right now. I'm i'm excited to see what you can do this year.

Yeah, I appreciate that. Thank you.

Oh, you're welcome and set up to your pops and your grandparents all family came to support our poll that uh, it's great to have that family uh support is so important and uh I can see how it's impacting you. So shout out to those to the rest your family. And congratulations on A O Y this year. And I appreciate you taking some time with a sneak on look for trip. Thank you, sir.

Thank you guys a lot. Thank you guys for having me and IT was a lot of fun and I definitely would recommend doing IT as a co angry. If you're thinking about IT, go for IT one hundred percent.

Do IT awesome marrow everybody.

Thank you guys.

Thank you. You heard you and get out if you you think don't be turned off by that ford facing persona. There's it's still a blast. So fun you're going to fish a lot of different ways. That was really cool here.

Yeah, yeah. He had a good minds that about, I mean, uh, and he started off as his own english is and strong and and finished that strong so is going to Jessica r right? Man does pretty good on the coker side, the opens and now it's happened in on the board.

sad. No, i'll be. Keep my eyes out to see where is that understanding the rest of the year? So excEllent.

And I realized that I had to put a bake out. You wouldn't know, I don't room and and see along the stream you had put to back down there and sucked out of all. So I think of you biggest on this one.

Right now, our tickets allowed to, if you're in Anderson, south CarOlina, shout out jeff alson, or if you're in at and texas and you get your tickets.

they're fell in up fast a couple more days. Chem, in this morning. So excEllent, excEllent. We had we had a packed cast last year. taxes. And we look forward going back there again with the fresh water Fishery center so cool, uh, with great facility down there. No, the texas share lunch program is uh is something that we really get behind.

And we think it's one of the greatest programs of any state in the country, uh, helping build uh, bigger and healthy bath in in the state of taxes. It's a it's exceptional, exceptional. How many thirteen pounder you had have a thirteen pounder to qualify as a onder?

Yeah, Walker alarm man. I was going off left and right when we were up there or down there, let often .

that was so that was so cool for people that don't know what that is, what what is the long term.

And they get a call that the thirteen pound bus is called and they're going to they're going, however, foreign tax, six hours, seven hours when .

they said we wanted to tag along to go check that out and they said only five hours yeah.

they they go pick up that fishing and bring you back in. You all type to stuff to that fishing. You know, it's genes and genetics, all that stuff.

And if so, if you come at and you not only get a two inference and cool saline and stuff like that, but you also get to check out the facility, probably see a thirteen pounder if they got any there to time and two. Me, time, one. And the in.

K, yeah, get up to those guys and IT is really cold like they have a truck. It's like a ambuLance and I mean, they just they fill IT up. They drive IT, like you said, to wherever that fish is uh to to minimize any trauma and the fish and they get IT back to full be they found in um uh they and they release IT back to where was caught yeah ah so there's a really important components of of the program and what they do is they um the eggs or the hatch of that phone is stocked uh throughout the the state of taxes. And if actually if you catch them a counter or Better, uh you can submit scale samples and you can find out the geneology of the fish, which is really is important to them but it's fun for you because you can you can learn about um you know hey, the fish I call was a span from A A share link er that was caught back in you know two thousand and ten you know and what lake you know came from and and all that really is great.

A simple process to you know mean, rich and I did IT, uh, when were there last year and it's, you know essentially pull scale off. The fish comes out very easily in put in the little envelope envelope and send at home. Then you find all you know everything you want to know about the fish, which is really cool.

Um get cool pack from taxes and get stuff uh whether you summer that you summer a share longer, you get A A nice Price Price that and bad is included in that Price back. So yeah, we're thrill to be going back this year. We're going to be announcing all of our speakers. We're going to be in south line as well inertion and will be announcing all of our speakers here real soon.

Jails window and map area are confirmed for a Anderson. And south CarOlina is. So if you like, drift more. Yes, there's three hamers right there that you can learn from if you're in the south CarOlina area. G, man, in three men.

life is a print just, you know, yeah, spend some time with homa bird, like I mentioned, the top of show. But a brian thrift. We got to spend a little time with the thrift in the boat and uh just really cool uh to be around him and watch him more.

Um he's not is a great teacher but he's he's off the charge with his ability to to read this electronics to efficiently um target the fish and and catch him in in ways that only brand does. Yes so many unique bates and strategies that he uses uh to catch him and you know funny because we know when brian came, I talked about this. We were in the boat when he came on the scene.

Um he was all about dogs like he was the ultimate duck skipper running running gun and uh we happen to roll up on some dogs when we were fishing together and he was thought he was same and I can skip under the dogs anymore he was hanging and in the rope yeah because he doesn't did he's an offshore anger now is like totally morphed his strategy using homework three sixty and side imaging and um and offshore all he does and he runs and guns IT just like the bank uh using the the lake master V X mapping you I think we feel all the guys you got and we're going to be released soon. But his use of color shading and the the lake master via mapping is incredible as well as the coastal or the coastal lake master that uses anytime he's around the the title systems of which is the amazing because IT that what that does is a large see the tides and where we are. It's a tremendous little tool to get the coastal version of the lake match.

And we film all that, watched them use IT and d and teachers had to do IT. And one of the cool things that he does, and you guys will see this, is on the the side imaging he's got, I think he's got two twelve in the council, two sixteen under wood. I can't member, but he's got a hold throw like he gets some vertical Justin, like he shoots a hundred feet to the left on the bottom and one hundred feet to the right so his like, you know, most people inside engine, your boats going down the middle and then you shoot off to side.

I do that. That's what i'm comfortable. Look at that. But he is filled the screen this way, and that way he can look further off a big side.

The book 是 IT really called how his settings is color pilots。 All that self is all going to be available to you guys here are just assumes kids at a jeff authors editing sweet. So look for that coming real soon.

Just what we given away. We are giving away crush city beats a hummingbird t and a washing university hat and a washing university t shirt to a member of the month, a member of the month. I love this.

I love this. This is going to be a new um part of our show. I know Justin uh wrote about in alasia in the in in the messaging but we're gonna be given away a gift randomly to one of our subscribe sy.

You may be uh, recipe of the gift even if you didn't watch the show. And if you didn't watch the show and you get a gift, you are required to watch the show every single week for the next year. So that's part as the stipulation just made that rule very just. Yes, yes.

So are you ready? We have us. Uh, are you ready? Give that.

So already email him. But carl from Green, CarOlina is the number of the number. And he responded back very excited.

And he also said that he just bought a ticket to enter some south CarOlina, and so we get to actually meet a person also, I can't wait to meet you. Thanks for being a part of best university. Look forward seeing in south care around and that's really cool.

And h and enjoy all the great gift that uh, that we have. We got a we've got a lot of great stuff coming for all of you describe as works cited about some of the things that we're done in, in twenty twenty five and where we're really doing some interesting things with our content. Where are are you going to drop the um we started doing some of this work already, but we're going to we're spending the the detail of our presentation.

We think you guys are really gonna IT. It's really gonna a be even a Better uh, teaching tool. I think uh, as we incorporate some of the new things are going in our editing sweet that's available to us. So we will check all that, let you guys know what we're going to be doing with that in this week.

I'll see a little bit of IT in wildairs junior.

little bit of check out will davies junior. And now check, of course, we as our court. We have we have developed courses, vash university for various techniques, and we're going to be building that course a content as we give three twenty twenty five to make sure you guys go and check all that self out. Do you have week this week?

Sure do Kevin long, I think you know him, pete, you, I believe one else. But hopefully you can see that background too good. That's a, that's a seven pounder in a five founder that got sent me yesterday from my goji and the his best stay on the water cavity and you rock in the best shoham. So had to make him some of the week this week. So shout Kevin.

So it's abNormal to catch these big of right now.

It's not abNormal just the last week you in our area IT seems like IT there's there's been something in the air that a lot of people of the cats, so big ones, you know I mean.

next day, too many, too many, too fast. It's like it's really, really good a and the dollar reverted. We fish lot. It's just that's just steady put now you great fishing this time here uh I think we gave reg shut up what he had sixteen pounds to win um the five alive open on on a just a couple weeks .

yeah I think thirteen this this week as also that's patience.

Good get out there. Take advantage of IT while the weather holds um you know jack where split in our time between wrestling and fishing he's he's a high school wrestler that we ve got a big season coming up so each train in heart a super proud of him because he's trained in the art arresting as he did with fishing. He's out there um put in the time and put the work in and and um that's that's a great it's great to see IT out of him and I don't know I played sports all through high school and in the collagen and I think IT really helped my fishing believe that are not the the the mental toughness, uh overcoming adversity, all the things you learn in in sport, uh directly applies your fish in including that position. Laity that need dropped on us.

No no today .

just type .

away but yeah yeah nika has got the right minds that for sure, these were not debates that I was expecting him. The poor out beat.

Do IT should the frog? What a what a great weapon, uh, as I think about IT and already minute, it's such a such a visual weapon that you can use when you when you're in weird situations and you don't .

know what to do with that, you know yeah yes. I mean, IT, if your you know fish and chilled water, you ve got to have one tight on. And I mean, like one of the biggest things is, you know just your verse, I would be able to make that but in casing a mile on fifty pound road and you're onna get IT back and it's like, you know IT IT is very efficient uh for a code to throw there were all frag around but no yeah that .

I think a lot of guys is gona do that now. And I think I think I inspire a lot of guys to get into the coast side if there's been a drop of dramatic drop off, in my observation, since the ford facing. So nothing came came around and to to hear how guys are are still fishing.

The they're using everything. And as IT should be right, they are using everything at their disposal. If weather means fishing and sixty feedwater or having to go up and fish around the shades phone on the bank, it's whatever IT takes uh to be successful .

and you it's just a good do you been a cow angle? Arn, the traveling stuff is a great learning to all. If you want to learn, you ford facing from guys like I learned more and a aid hour down the water, which you're gill watching him go to work with, that life's cope, then anything else.

And you can also learn little sneaky dates and techniques that guys, so everybody's got something different, you know, that they debate, that they rely on that you'd be like when I vents from that and forever, you know, no, I like I throw this everywhere. I, O and some, you connect your auction. I've done IT over the years, tonnes of bits that I rely on now that I never used to throw just from one go and rest of so being to .

come together, live in front your face, yes, is an impact of situation. He talked about the football.

and when not when .

we were down at likely near last we you know you know we did a fair a fair amount ford facing fishing and um IT was ridiculous because there are four people in the boat。 Yeah and like you know you can it's just chAllenging on what you can't can't do and I found myself a lot of times like um go down just like he's talking about I get to the back and I would throw uh of I happen to be throw uh both finish ball ball, both bill long and drift had rod rig with a financed football head uh for that lake for for that weekend and I gravitated towards that.

I would get to the back on purpose and I would just fire that around, a drag around and I caught fish, downed that exact thing when guys out, you know, fish off points, you know, use a man alive and check in that and fit and thrown on the targets, I was dragged a jig and cattle so um yeah a great way to survive that is so anger. I think people have been like this code. Er I heard some things that were really unique from the coin or perspective that I haven't heard before.

So that's always a that's always a great thing. 有有 我 有 so we got ticket on the south CarOlina。 Just what the area what's what's happening with our sales or what do we got going on with our tickets?

Now the early bird special, the early bird special is still active. Okay, take advantage of that guys because we're gonna that's going to go away soon. Um when is that going to one? Uh, right after black friday.

Right after black friday, they will keep friday subscription, fifty dollar tackle direct gift card and buy your ticket to understand I friends what you can do, get what it'll make you Better anger. And we look for the sydney guys on site, maybe we will get out to a little fishing. And one of these places just, son.

we're see how that goes. Take in jeff s and best cat out only. Well, for sure, someone has got, somebody got, take that thing for .

a real test test long as it's not snowing, raining, freezing court yeah we I think that's that's the perfect solution because those lakes, uh, the spotted best lakes, they they fish a .

well in you.

Yeah, we need to go take advantage and i'm right. Good deal. Bring you a skin here just on, guys. Thanks so much for a watch and hanging out with me back next tuesday.

Um and we're gonna we we're looking at doing some well, let you know because we haven't confirmed the gash yet, but we are we're going to be going a lot of shows. We get some kac shows coming up and uh, some other interesting stuff that we think you're going to like. Let us know what you want to say and we will do that. And also where do they send the image if they want to, if they want to be featured on vash university as a subtle the week just then, where should they send IT?
