Hello, and welcome to mac power users. My name is Stephen hacket. I'm joined by my friend in yours, mister David Sparks.

Hello, Stephen, and welcome back to the mac power users.

buddy. Yeah, IT is good. IT is good. To be back of my sabbatical has come to a close, and IT is good to be good to be back talking about things we love.

You know, I really try to give you space. I didn't want to talk to you about anything business. We had a couple personal text during your break, but I can tell you I I really miss you and it's really nice talking to again.

I miss you too. Thank you. I said this before we hit record, but um you and a lot of of the people really did a lot of extra work when I was gone.

So thank you for holding down the fort. Love the interview episodes and excited about what we have. You know, we were just talking about our schedule to the end of the year into january, and we get some great shows coming up. It's it's a good time to be a mac power user yeah .

and I I was telling you that I know that of all the people that we're taking over something you left, I was the one you were worried .

about the most and .

you have not told me that. But I mean, yes, I just could see your mind thinking i'm going to come back and mac power users is going to be on fire. The expression of what published.

We only had one real fire when I was going on. There was a day where the really content system just fell over. But that was that no one else that really had anything to see where well old machine you know this many years and to IT.

yes, we are. And and I want to think the guests that came in um there were great shows in my opinion and all of them you know I said, hey, you know, Stevens are gonna be there just gonna be you and me so you got ta be great and they all were they all were when we had a nice mix of guess, we had to listen around. We had some old friends, new friends, IT was all good.

And the and thank you, everybody, for for enjoying that. And thank you for forgiven Steve and a little break. And and we're going to talk about that more power uses.

today. You have sabattis tech, and I want to hear all about that. So we're going to save that for more power is the add for extended version of the show.

But you're returning on the perfect episode. You're returning on the annual mag power users gift guide. I love this episode.

Yeah, this is always a fund one. And we were putting the schedule together. I knew was going to be out. This seems like a good episode to come back on and it's one of those, right? I can see IT now people on the forms, people on social media like, oh, no, this is one of the ones where the guys spend my money for me and you looking to this list ah yeah you're probably gonna end some money but you know it's it's a good out.

It's that time a year, right? So either for yourself, for a nerdy person in your life and we are here to help. And we've got some standard categories that we're going to go through.

I looked back in the last couple of ones um and i've been happy with how we went. And of course, we've got what i've called the well round at the end. Just like if you want to guess something really knew for somebody, I think I win again this year for the single most expensive item. You know, last year I put, I think, of a rebuilt land cruiser on the list. Yeah, no antitrust ks for me this year, but I got something special for the end.

okay. Well, Better go. I you know, I was thinking about these shows as they involved.

You come back in the days when kate I did IT and IT really is you and I pointing out things that we've personally used and really like. And I guess this is in addition to recommending people gifts to get other people. It's gifts to put on their own personalities.

It's a weird kind of mix of the show. But I will tell you, as I go through the year and I buy something once in a while, I really appreciate IT. I always make a note of IT for this episode, so I look forward to this one after me as it's fun.

So let's start humbly let's start with the sort of everyday Carry the items that either or on our person or nearby as we go about our everyday.

Um yeah I think I think some lions don't even know the term day Carry because it's not really a tech thing. But Stephen and I have discovered about each other that we are both everyday Carrier enthusiast kind of accidentally, like once in a while you telling me something you boat make. My god, I looks amazing. And and there's like a whole like fetish to this. If you go on like youtube, people have these everyday Carried channels, and they've got the perfect pocket knife and the perfect this or that. Hi, I don't think I go that far down the rabbit hole, but I do like having nice things in my pocket and I do really kind of dig the the idea of everyday Carry, you know getting know the right gear as you go through the day and we both spend some money on that this year yeah.

i've been on a bit of a journey. I went from the pro max phone for last several years down to the regular size pro this year. And I am really enjoying IT. I like to size a lot, but IT sort of through into contention my iphone wallet situation for the last couple of years, i've used the peak design iphone case was amusing again this year. And their mag safe wallet and the apple one is not quite thick enough for the things I need to Carry.

I did pull that off a little while over the summer, but as like you know, I public should have like my heth insurance card on me, right? Like i'd really narrated down to what I was Carrying in there. But something about the smaller size pro, the wallet stuck on the back of the phone, really felt much bulkier, I think is IT took up this more surface area on the back.

And so this fall i've returned to an old friend is an old friend because I actually already had one IT was just sitting in the drawer, uh, the belly court sleeve um now belli makes all sorts of stuff, my backpack that amusing. Now as a bill roy, lots of nice accessory and bags and stuff. And the court leave is just a minimal wallet.

It's not magnetically thing or it's a stand alone while like you put your pockets and attached to your phone. But IT is really a slim but IT has this new trick or IT holds more than IT looks like IT will. But IT also uh has like quality of pull tabs so you can like pull the tab, everything sort of comes out of IT.

So you're not like jam in your finger down into the sleeve, which would stretch out the leather and kind of messed up over time. And the one i've got, I don't think they actually make any more the color way. I have a black leather.

Oh yes, it's black ashes is what they call is black with an orange leather pull tab because obviously that's the combination black and orange and A I I really have kind of forgotten how much i'd like IT and IT makes your phone fill a lot than not having a wallet stuck to the back of your phone. So a bit of a journey, but i'm kind of back where I was years ago. And really, I can't say enough good things about the biller products I have. Like if you're kind of looking for a bag or a backpack or something or a wallet, just go produce their website because they got lots of great stuff.

Yeah i'm still using, you know my my wallet that I got from peak design and everything is working for me. But yeah, i've never bought any bill what roy products but I know you and Michael both huge enthusiasm can someday i'll have to try one .

out yeah theyve got they've got a great stuff. And the reason I use their phone cases because they have this like universal mount system. So i've got a couple amounts on a couple of my different bicycles and um and I just clips into that. I've talked about that before on the show that when you when you are in bill billi world, you're kind of you can't buying into a whole system but lots of great accessories is out there for IT.

Yeah I have a wallet related picture. Uh, this year, I guess I always struggled with the idea that I don't have uh, an artigue on that little peak design wallet. And so this year, I went ahead and bought the shapiro wallet air tag card and IT is a flat, no credit card sized singing above the thickness of about two and a half credit cards.

It's not it's not skinny, but it's a it's not huge either. And it's got a enclose battery they deal with. Tripoli is in the battery to last a couple of years. I guess when the battery dies, you mail back to them and then they give you a new one at a severe discount um so you know that's their battery system. Some people don't like that.

That's why i'm saying IT, but I I like IT because makes IT smaller, you know yes and and it's very skinny compared to an artek uh so I slide that into my apple on my my a peak design, you know with the flip top well IT along with the cards I need and my insurance card fits and it's been great and I actually had needed IT recently like a bozo I was in uh, just october thirty first on on the halloween. I I went in dizzy land for the afternoon and then for like months to go in in in work. But I did all my november planning, had my bag, put my walk in my bag again like a bozo and left IT something.

And then I freaked out when I realized I was at the other side of the park. But I could track IT with a jupille, an fortunate that people, the restaurant had just put IT behind the counter, and they were waiting for me. So I was all good, happy ending.

But but IT actually used IT recently and was very happy that I had IT. So if you've always wanted an air tag tracker on your wallet, but don't you know have space in IT for a big, you know kind of air tags are pretty thick. This is the the solution to IT.

I know there's a couple competitors I didn't try of them. I read the reviews in a tripoli and everybody seems like that so much. I was that one.

I did a video on also max ark laves this year when I bought IT. And i'm very happy with the purchase. And it's a good it's a good purchase for, I think, anybody who doesn't Carry, you know who Carries a wallet independently. You know, like if you've got a person, or like a daybed that you always Carry, you can put an airtight and that easy enough. But if you're gotta a wallet that you just slide in your pocket, one of these things can can really save your bacon.

My next item is nothing to do with tech whatsoever. But this year I have made a real effort to drink more water. I've been a Sparkling like flavoured water person for a long time, uh, like milk, spend, drift, whatever. But like any nerd as like I need equipment.

make this Better. Yeah, yeah.

always makes you Better. yeah. I try to couple different water bottles over the years. What i've settled on is a thirty two outs hydro flask.

Now look, I know and I don't understand this at all, David, but I get that there are trains and water bottles, right? Like there was the one with, like, a flip up straw and others, some mother one is like, tindy you on us to gram in whole foods and stuff. Yeah, I don't shame that.

But the thirty two outside of flash, I really like for a couple of reasons. One is a good amount water, not agree, filling in a bunch too, if it's in the cup holder in my truck really nicely. And I prefer a metal water bottle of a plastic.

I know people have different opinions about that middle. This seems like a Better choice for me personally, but the trick is to get one with a sprout lid. A lot of these water bottles like the now genes I actually have a now in my a desk today because the medals es are get washed IT.

Um you know it's got a big opening right? And if you're drinking water, you like, you know, if you're walking or or driving or even just sit at your desk, you have a lot of opportunity for spillage, right? I mean, who hasn't a dropped a little extra water? Yeah so that's no good. And I have a real problem with water bottles with draws bilton because I I feel like I can't ever really git them clean enough, you know I mean, like.

yeah I do yeah I don't want .

that either. And so the middle ground is called a spout lid and hydro fly sell some of them, but there's also like a billion of them on amazon in this kind of thing between that doesn't have a straw but is a smaller opening. And usually they also have like a loop to like Carry IT, you know with a couple of fingers, like if you go on a walk or something.

So the slid is the way to go thirty two outside your flash. I've got a couple. I've got one in orange.

I got one in White and have been pretty happy with this. And so if you're going for a water bottle, don't overthink IT. You don't forget the tiny st thing. But this is what's work worked well .

for me yeah isn't like extremely now like a trendy water bottle.

I think IT was I think they've been replaced by some other other brain OK. But but when I think a standing ly, I think that I have one like the firm is like the Green.

Now I love you. I love that standing has some some juicy.

yeah, they hired some miles or some genie over there and get cool again.

Yeah, they go, you know, I still use the yet ty one that we sulfate mac power users, what? Two or three years? Yeah, it's great.

IT is perfect. And the little on that one, I will say, is very clean able. I don't know you use that one, but I know you can take IT apart and clean IT.

I've got some other ones where you look at the lady, you try and clean IT and eventually I just throw the little way. But I knew IT because I I can't get IT clean enough so I get IT. But this I will say this now, vintage mac power users, yet i'm looking at right now IT brings me much joy anyway.

yeah. So another everyday Carry one for me, and this one was the outlier for me this year, is I like flashlights, but I don't like spending a lot of money on flashlights, you know, because they ve got really good when they started putting L, D bulbs in them, very Better than they used to be. And so you can get them relatively cheap.

I know that over than the past, you have made flashlight recommendations that were like, they too rich for my blood. Well, this year I had like some some pocket money. Uh literally somebody gave me a began as on car for my birthday and like I mean by me a nice flashlight.

So I I bought the night core E D C twenty seven and um IT is not even round. It's it's like, you know it's it's it's a more square ish yeah but IT is it's man, this is a nice flashlight. It's got like three different setting.

One of them is like one woman. So when you're out and you just want to like light up something very dimly, but not like light everything up, you can do a but then that also goes up to a thousand lumen. The standard is two hundred.

And I have never had a flash like like this. Like when sometimes you hear an animal in the backyard, i'll go out there and i'll write that thing up and the whole yaris let of this one thing in my pocket. I i've just never experiences a flashlight with this much power before.

IT charges on USB c got a little display on the side, tells you what the charge rates. It's even got a thing on where you push the button and I like flashes really bright and I guess that's kind of a self defense thing. If someone you know um I guess I cost of you, you could appointed at their face and IT would I would definitely blind them so I would be a nice thing if you're worried about safety.

It's not a weapon, obviously, but I may give you just enough clearance to take off running but I I don't really get IT herself to think so. I just like having a really nice flashlight and boy, do I love this thing. I didn't think I would be the kind of guy who would like an eighty dollar flashlight arent.

I am. And and this is a very good one. A nightmare makes a bunch of them that makes some that are less expensive, some that are more and bigger. But this one seemed kind of like the golden locks for me um with enough power but not too big in your pocket and the and boy, i'm a flash like guy now see no.

I like IT and I think the non round size, I would imagine makes IT easier to uh have in your pocket is not bulker right?

Yeah I mean it's yeah it's fine and fits in my pocket. Nobody knows I I Carry too much stuff, my pocket but I guess that's why we have this category.

That's right idea. This is the pocket, uh the pocket category and uh your next item is also, uh, a pocket Carrier. And I have an entry in this one too but tell me about your leverman yeah.

I got a new leather men. Ah they make you a new one called the arc. There's two kinds of knife enthusiast, I guess.

Well, there's a bunch of them. I guess I shouldn't say just two. I mean, my dad was from missouri in the backwards. I grew up. We always had pocket lives, and that was like a thing.

But I have, over the years, come to love letter man and and I know people it's kind of like too few two groups, the people who love the source army ive, and people who love the letter men I like, the letter men I like that turns into apple applies. And that's pretty, pretty handy. And so i've Carried one for years, and and I find all sorts of uses for IT throughout the day, you know, opening a bag of chips, marking a dough, tae whatever.

I use my leather win for a lot of things, but they came out this new in the ark, and I think I came out a year two ago, and and I thought, I don't think I need a new leader, men. But I was reading in the reviews, and the blade, still on the knife is really good. And that's one thing i've always struggled with.

With other minutes, you have to sharpen them off in and I will I be nice. And then I got an email from them because i'm a customer with a deal and they had they had the ability to customize IT if I wanted. And then I thought, well, I can't not have a custom leather men, so I I sent in and I gave the max barky logo and and I used the futura font.

They didn't have the good fond. So I turned IT into an image, you know, instance IT. And they laser IT onto the leather men intended to me. And IT just makes me so happy that I think i'm gonna like seller give away my old leather men because i've had to thing about eight months and i've never Carried any. The other ones since this one showed up.

it's super cool. Um i've got one one as well. I've I think the older version is very similar. I have the wave plus, which is an eighteen tool years as a twenty that they're very similar. And yeah, it's it's none of the tools on IT or the best version of that tool, but to have them all in one thing is very useful.

And my lives in my truck, and so if I went home and I need IT or I need a tool, i've got Better tools at home, right? But very often i'm out doing something is like, oh, I could really use a tiny pair scissors or a knife or a applies I don't you know I want to Carry a tool bag around with me and this seems great and sometimes right, if I doing certain of things right um I pop on my bet loop and be a super cool dad and it's very useful and so i'm i'm matter with you, man. I know not everyone is on board, but I I think they're really useful.

Yeah I mean, mine goes my pocket every day and like just this morning I was in the garden, I had to cut something in all about the other men, and I had to assault with me. And that was great. So I think this is a really nice gift.

The reason I added to the list was the personalization. Because, you know, when you can give somebody something that's personalized, I think that's a nice touch. And i'd never even considered that you could get a personalize leather men.

But IT wasn't much money. I think IT was. Included in the Price. And maybe that was part of the promotion that I got in, but we're recording this early enough. If there is someone special in your life, you want to give them a nice leather men with a personal message on IT. You know this, I think that would be a nice gift.

And next year too, I like that. This episode, a mac power users is made possible by net suite. What is the future hold for business? Ask nine experts and you're gonna ten answers.

Some will say rates will rise or fall. Others might say inflation is up or down. Look, the only way business owners can offer sure is if someone events a crustal ball. And until then, over forty thousand businesses have future proved their business with net sweet by oracle, the number one cloud E R P, bringing accounting, financial management, inventory, hr and more into one fluid platform with one unified business management sweet.

There is one source of truth giving you the visibility and control you need to make quick decisions with the real time insights and forecasting appearing into the future with actionable data. No Crystal ball required. So when you're closing your books in days and not weeks, you're spending less time looking backward and more time on what's next.

Having a single source of truth is super important in your business. Having data scattered across a bunch of different systems or spread s or individual contributors, even IT is messy, is slows down decision making and IT makes IT hard to forecasts with access data. So either your company is earning millions or hundreds of millions next week helps you respond to immediate chAllenges and seize your biggest opportunities. So go downtown the cfs guide de to A I machine learning at net sweet dot com flash M P U that's next sweet N E T S U I T net sweet dot com slash in P U for that free guide. I thanks a net sweet for the support of the show.

okay. We always like to uh, get to the tech and the stuff on our desk. We've done episodes in the past about stuff on our desk, but I thought I would be a good time this year to to see what's new and and things that might be good to add to your lister or where to buy for someone else. What do you want to start with, Steven?

Let's start with input devices. You know, I think you I ve both been on a lot of a journey here. I for years was using uh a series of old log atteck performance ixi and had had a couple on the shelf.

And at some point in the last year, the last one I had died and you know he thinks boxes for years and I tried the IMAX master. I think the two and the shape just didn't quite work for me. But on the the recommendation of basically everybody, I checked up the M X master 3s and the s stands。 I think for silent is the click is very, very quiet, which is important when you're podcasting.

And unlike its predecessor of the two, the three works for me. And so i've been using the mix master three years for a while now, and IT charges of a USB c, which is really cool, just like apple's accesses. now. Finally, and i've got in black, they have IT in graphite and in pale gray which is White IT seems like a bad color for a mouse like I feel just get dirty. But uh i've been very happy with this.

And there was some dust up over last year um because I read a blog about about there um the lodge plus software on the mac with those like adding ChatGPT like stuff that doesn't need to be in a mouse driver. Yeah you don't you can turn myself off now and you don't even have to run their software. There's some third party uh apps that can um you can use to map your button and stuff like mouth steer and some others.

But um i've been happy with that and it's uh i've been using IT the Better part of a year. I think I trying to find my receipt and kind of find IT. It's been the last year that I switched to IT and it's been great.

Yeah I I bought one two and that's a great mouse. And I also bought another one but another logistic mouse recently, which I think a is gift list worthy. I had heard about these when ever really thought seriously about them, but I was talking to tim stringer over an automated podcast, and he got a logitech vertical mouse that he loved.

And I thought, you know, i'm gonna get that and just try, you know, sometimes I just buy things. You know, all admit, you know, amazon has a pretty good return policy. So if you try IT and IT, IT doesn't work.

You can send IT back. But I wanted to experience IT and what imagine a regular mouse turned on its side. I guess that's the only way to really sum up.

But if that's what IT is, you know it's a it's a vertical mouse so you your hand holds IT kind of like sideways. You don't have to turn your risk at all when you use IT. And I kind of like mixing IT up with the mice. I do a lot of clicks and um this is a nice mouse. He doesn't have all the extra buttons that the M X master 3SS。 But tim had a good idea of just mapping triggers with a Better touch tall and so so you can hold back the shift key and then click a mouse button and then you can have a do extra stuff.

I got into IT and i'm doing IT up specifically like IT with if i'm in safari, I I hold the shift key and I hit the left back IT goes to the left tap on the rapid and goes to the right tap you know that that kind of stuff and so IT requires you to use your other hand on the keyboard at the same time, but that doesn't you quite a lot of power even though there are too many buttons. Um I I think either one of these mice are are really great, but we got some updates to the my room, logitech this year and if you don't need their software, Stephen said. I have been did a little video on using the Better touch to trick in the maxi lab.

I'm going to make IT available, able to the black power is just listening us. If you just go to the show, I put a look and there for IT. But it's it's a nice mouse. I'd never thought myself as a vertical mouse sky, but I have been using exclusively sense I about IT.

I think it's it's a great option for somebody who may have our issues to have a different input device you can switch to or useful time. Um i've got a friend of mine who SHE uses I think is a wide to take product, but it's a mouse ball for her. Her situation is the most comfortable thing and so it's great .

to have options. I like switching. I'm not sure if it's just a physical reason or I just just want to mix IT up once in a while.

Did you note that we got a new apple mouse with a new U. S, B, C. Port couple weeks ago? Yeah, but they left IT on the bottom of that.

What do you do an apple? What do you do in? So yes.

I just like a beach.

Yeah, I was actually holding out. So I I use the the little blue to the apple keyboard or touch I, D. And mine. A bunch of the keys were pretty worn out, and I was just waiting for U. S, B, C.

And so I ordered a new keyboard and then a matching track pack, because I use track pack, keyboard and mouse as well. I don't want one lightning thing left on my desk. And so the keyboard was, there was time.

The track pad was a treat. Um so yeah, i've got USB c on all my inputs. And you know what the the lightning cable I head dangling off my series display, 对, been banished.

It's in the world somewhere. Yeah, goodbye. good. ye. I'm going to run my lightning keyboard until IT gives up to go. So I can not be using this for quite a while.

I would not have done IT just for the input change but a bunch of the keys were pretty warm now and it's actually funny like typing on this was like, oh, this is what this feels like when it's to knew but I will say um or just an attack on now that's fine.

Why didn't they fix the keys? The arrow keys to the inverted ity is still has the giant left and right key, unlike the laptops and unlike the extended keyboard that the little one did any change there. And I after all of these years, I still prefer the university erik's.

I am still you like, I acknowledge we are off the threat habit. I I still like the big one with the with the keyboard and the number pad and the proper arrow keys in the extra function keys and I can automate. So um even though my hand has tram a little further to that mouse, I keep fighting myself going back to the big one alright ah what else is new on your dest this year that would make a good gift? Yeah this is .

actually this items actually on my night stand, which if you think about IT, is the desk you use when you are sleep.

There you go. It's your sleep desk.

You're sleep at desk at the apple want magnetic fast charger. And so like on my night stand, i've got a lot of multi charge of think my friends studio need and the apple watch buckin there. IT may be my original one, but IT is old.

And i'm now in the third year of the ultra one. And you know what, i'm noticing a little battery and the fading over time, right? And I tend to sleep track.

And so I thought, know the way to like combine these things. So I want to get another year out of the ultra. One is moving to a fast charger for the apple watch.

So IT is a new cable at U. S. B. C. On the other end is a brave cable which is nice and IT requires an apple watch seven or later and I think it's to uh actually can't find IT on this page, but I want to say IT requires thirty watts um on the other end but or maybe twenty watts um but I had I went like a multi USB c things stuck under my night stands or I I had a port available to IT.

If fast charging an apple watch is awesome for sleep tracking because you can drop IT on the retake a shower. And I know other apple watches tars pretty quickly, but the ultra has a big battery. And I was just finding I was really kind of juggling the battery more than I want to, especially given that I have an ultra.

And so I swapped this thing in here. H, over my sabbatical. And IT was one of my projects was like, get look into fast charging of for the apple watch.

And IT totally changes the game. And sleep tracking on in an apple watch is fantastic. Apple's own health and vital stuff is really good course.

I also would recommend a sleep plus plus excEllent sleeps charging application that that I work on. Um IT is IT is great to have that data and with fast charging IT really takes the headache at a juggling IT. And so it's the same size book IT popped right into my multi charger thing and it's it's great .

yeah i'll call an out of another another one here. I don't know if I want to call this a gift idea because this kind of embarrassing but I I bought this year a second apple watch. It's a series seven uh used I got uh actually not much more than the cost of this cable yeah but I actually have a second watch and I just keep IT on the charger by on my on my bad desk and the at night I wear and is a series seven aluminum with a very, very comfortable band on IT.

And so i'm doing a much Better job is sleep tracking because I don't to worry about the power thing and it's it's lighter than the ultra, which I don't notice the ultra, but when I wear to bed, I notice IT. So this is a little thing I did this year and I blamed the max market love several people and they told me that they were doing okay IT. But you know you can get to use apple watch .

pretty cheap yeah uh some real time follow up. Uh, 你 apple watch fast charging cable requires eighteen watts of power or higher。 They list you can use that the ninety six watt USB c power dopper you you going to shoot, you're watch into space with that.

With that one. So i'll put a link to that. But yeah, I do sleep with the ultra. I do put A A L ROI the fabric band on IT.

but IT is .

bulky and I give you up like sleeping with like a hand under your pillow or something. Like, I definitely noticed the bulk. Now I do have an apple watch.

I'm leaning over to pick IT up. What is this? This is a series A, A series nine. Uh, the aluminum that I have a for beta stuff with underscore. And i've thought about IT set up with my test phone, but i've thought about like do I set this up with my actual phone um and sleep track and that I don't think i'm going to you K I think for my software purposes that would that would be tRicky. But the also like if you're going to save track that it's a bit it's a bit big.

Honestly though, it's not necessarily like I think getting a fast charge cable like you did here is perfectly fine. I still like i've still embarrass to admit that I have a second watch because IT seems like so, so unnecessary, right? But but the fact is i'm getting much Better sleep data in at the time. I I I usually don't have a problem sweeping, but i've had some some medical stuff this year that has gotten a way of sleep, and I wanted the data and that is good having IT and i've shared some with a doctor and all that. So it's it's necessary for me to have some so a good sleep data but but yeah i'm so little legal about .

even talking about .

IT day watch night watch like yeah exactly right i'm day watch I watch guy it's like .

gago ah in terms of enabling people. I know we talk a lot about the stream deck uh, on mac power users because this is a great tool for automation and the speeding up work on your mac. And I don't have one of these, but i'm still are committing IT because I think it's the best way to get into this ecosystem.

I got to release the neo line of products this year, which are all adorable. Um and the stream deck NIO, it's got eight button on IT and is got A A clock and calendar built into the bottom IT which I like I actually use because I have the XL. I use several of my buttons as a time zone converter so I can look down to see a like what time IT is in rome or pacific time or whatever.

And the new I think, is a great way to get into this. Um it's adorable and it's uh ninety nine books. You can not you can always find a cheap er than that.

And I think if you're looking to get into this world and you should lect IT, I tell you, using a computer without a stream deck, like, I don't want to do IT anymore. I have so many things just the way you do. David wired into this thing IT really makes me more efficient sitting at my desk. And the neo is an adorable way to get started with IT.

Okay, since I didn't pick the stream deck, I got to pick something about got to, uh, this year I just had IT with web camps. I got rid of them all and I hooked up my good camera. I got a nice you thing on amazon to allow me to, you know, mount IT properly.

And the Alberto camping for is fork is so useful. I looked at a lot of options. You, they make like eighteen minutes is a whole bunch of things out there, like camera switchers and you I make my living these days doing a lot of weapon us for the labs and and the field guides.

I wanted to have a really nice camera, but um I feel like the algo to camel is the best connection if you don't need to do a lot of switching. And it's just been so solid. And I actually have two of them and I have two different cameras, so I got two different views and I can switch between them.

And they've made this product for years. But you know if there's someone in your life who does a lot of web on hours, maybe that's not as common now that we're kind of past COVID. Um but that is someone you wanted like really give them some help you get any camera and connected through this camlan for k and just about any camera you get is gonna look Better than a web camp.

You could really somebody up nice with one of these. And if you want to go crazy, get one of those old got to lights as well, where you connected to the neva software to the computer. So we've got some lighting in a nice camera and you can make their life a lot easier.

Yeah the the team link is awesome. I've got a couple of him as well and it's just U S, B, A at a work through a dongo, right using a modern mac. But it's it's fantastic and it's super small.

Like someone of you think about like, oh, gossip car capture card like to be a big thing. This is basically the size of A B F, like USB memory stick or something. Okay, I mine actually lives in my tech bag at the bottom, my backpack, because i've i've needed IT out in the world a few times and it's man we've said IT before were big fans of this company. They make, they makes me great stuff yeah and .

I I bought some expensive web camps because I wanted them parky labs and feel good videos that look nice and ideally a webcam that you know stamps on your monitor and everything's grape, but they're just not very good and like some of them overheat and shut down randomly yeah you get none of that with the aleta IT just works. And um and like I said, I think that would be a nice gift for somebody just really set up a good you know like zoom camera set up for them.

Yeah there were some of the google I can find that there were some fancy web camp that a bunch of us bought OPPO I like, yeah, Hughes let down. I'm sorry, i'm sorry ople Hughes let down.

But I will say because I sent my back after the warranty period, because I just overheated and they they gave me a reference OK IT wasn't like a geno who I am think I don't think that any idea I was, but the they honor IT and and because I had a long because I kept saying, you know, they kept saying, well, the next software update, it's gonna get Better IT just never did. And so, so good on them for honoring.

If you want to give them a try, think there is solid company. But yeah IT wasn't I didn't think the picture is is good, but the I am so happy now with my webcam look at just great yeah and and that is because that starts with this little, little thinky thing, I thought, from alga to the camel. forky.

So you in your studio have your big display. What is the name of that thing? The .

world.

which I still have, env, a and one one, but I cannot myself to do. IT, yes.

but in and then that sounds .

like a magic the rest of your life but in light of that, where sort of an innocent marvel is the tidbit T I D B Y T I got a link in the ones, of course and in front of might send this to me um and I bought the tidbit gen to um so the the second one and IT is just a little I don't know it's maybe like i'm looking at mind is like tinners by french, is like a rectangular screen, is kind of like a blocky pixel screen which is IT has anesthetic to IT they have one with a woodpath added the White case like White plastic case.

IT has gone iphone APP and you can basically install different apps onto IT. So mine rotates through a couple of things. I've got the uh like the three day weather forecast. I have a just the date and time real big.

I have sunrise and sunset and then I have an I called DVD logo and of fans of the office will know there's a very they is seen the office, they're in the conference room and they're waiting on the DVD logo like the screen saver for the DVD player for the logo to be bound directly into the corner and there's this line of like he says he saw that but he didn't see IT right um and someone just recreated that and they think this bounces around but they have tons of apps you can hook up to, uh, your favorite sports teams do I need to do um they have some fun ones. Uh, they have moon phases, day night maps. You can pug in into some social media stuff less than you probably were able to previously with a bunch of changes there.

Um create your own you can have your own message or your own photo who get a gool calendar. IT goes on and on. And I just have a thing on the shelf in my office is kind to the left of my desk and it's is great like glands and kind to see what's going on and customized IT. Just a fun thing in the office and i've been i've been quite happy with that. It's been a just a fun addition to the studio this year.

Yeah well, let me know when generation too gets to a wood frame. I may have to pick one of these up.

Yeah the wood one looks really cool um and IT seems a really good community around IT. Like a lot of these apps are built by just people who are enthusiastic about IT. And I think that's .

really cool. Yeah, still on my vegetable ard though. Man.

I am jealous.

Thanks for reminding me of that. I'm just going to look back. I don't smile a little bit.

So this year, i'm always struggling. You to figure out the baLance, analog and digital tools. And i'm a fan of writing things down.

I just think sometimes getting away from the digital stuff helps me think things through Better. And I ve bought a variety of different now books over the year. But this year, this year, I found my nobo bliss, and I am so happy that I finally figured this out.

It's, uh, somebody wrote me about IT because I like the ring system like lavender, but I always feel like their paper wasn't any good and in the sizes weren't quite right for me and they're just big and I I mentioned IT on one of the shows and somebody said, you gotta check out laughter and so claughton is a japanese company that makes ring binder stationaries. So ring winter means it's a little binder with a ring in IT and that means that you buy the paper and little um pads and you can tear them off. They have holes in them so you can reorder them.

And that was always kind of my complaint with fancy notebooks is i'd like to reorder the pages and you can't in something that's all glued together. So this solves that problem in a very elegant way. I bought a couple pads of the paper.

I like the paper quality. Then I ended up a bit a binder, and now i'm fully invested in the system at this point. And h, now I can have my analog piece of IT nail down. I'm really happy about a plotter USA 点 com。 If there's someone in your life that likes nice stationary in is interested in ring binders ah you could spend a lot of money at that website.

Yeah our friend josh dinner wrote a really nice blog post about this because I add these products for a while. I think josh actually put IT on my radar with his blog post about a year ago, so i'll put that in there too. Yeah, IT is really cool and modulate because of the system, right? You can kind of put in there what you want.

And IT IT looks really cool. I I love my field notes, like I cracked to new and open just two days ago. But if I weren't so deepening the field notes, I think this is where I would .

go because I like the way, yeah and it's so easy to planet like like I do journalists in day one. But I also write stuffed. And I want to add IT to day one.

And with this, because you just pull the page out, you late on your desk and you scan IT and you get a perfect scan, yeah because in a new book, the book falls up and everything, here's a power trip on this and and some people will cringle I say this because you privacy, but, uh, I have discovered that ChatGPT can actually convert my handwriting to text. I write in architect yle block caps. So OCR has never worked on my handwriting like it's just a random collection of capital letters.

IT looks like a ransom note, and but ChatGPT does IT perfectly. I set IT up. I explained to IT, you know, the way I right, what I needed to do and and IT dos involve me sending pictures of things I write down to ChatGPT, which I guess now means it's gonna be in the new york times at some point or something. But IT does a great job, you know, if you're okay with IT, I am so happy with the plotters stuff. And like I was a mentioning the other day when I left my wallet, I went in and I wanted to analyzing nal thoughts about how october went, what I want to do in november. And then of course, I want switch the digital tools for the actual tasks um and I didn't even bring the plot of no but I just brought a plodder pad because the pads are really nicely made in so you can just sit there right on and tear off the pages as you finish them then take him home and drop up in the nobility. Just a really a nice system.

You and I are both fans of fun. Things in our offices are like or just things we love um and for that category, I putting the lego NASA artistic space launch system. Now space on system is is this rocket that NASA is building? Biggest thing since the saturn five.

Uh IT cost too much money. They probably be doing IT. I have opinions about this rocket, but the lego set of IT is sick.

It's thirty six hundred pieces and it's pretty big. You look the pictures of this. I is like a full grown human saying next to IT on the table as she's working on IT.

Maybe this is like I put IT on the bookcase, maybe not on the desk, but this thing looks really cool. I actually have this kid. I have not built IT.

It's it's in a box, maybe for a Christmas break. But I like lego. I like space stuff.

I have a bunch of lego space model that i've put together around my office, like I have the lunar landing in the second five and an older space subtlety, a set. The national space station that I built in is one of my son's rooms. And this is gonna get added to and it's pretty great.

Look in the details. Really cool. And so what's what's Christmas without a leg of set, really? You know, I mean, it's required for the holidays.

So now you have children. I do you like to build legal when you do build the lego. Are the kids allowed to participate? Or is just like daddies doing this?

Yeah, but they can help. But I will say when I build a set like this, it's not for them to tear down and then reimagine until whatever they want. Yeah, this there are sixty dollars.

I get, you know, I building IT to have IT as a model. Uh, but yeah, they can help. Uh, you know, there I got two teenagers now than a teen old. Yeah, there.

there are helpful in that. Be fun. I be fun to do together. Yeah, this is a huge set on looking at IT. You're right.

It's going to I build IT. I don't know where i'm gonna.

I think you should put in the background of your video maybe yeah really good behind you. Yeah actually have A I have a two lego sets behind me. One is of a bonded tree and one is of orchids.

And somebody wrote me in the labs and said, hey, I just wanted compliment you on how what a Green thumb you have every time I watched those orchids are just look so good. And the thing is, i've got, you know, the camera with the boca because i'm using the algoma thing, right? So i've got a nice blurry background, so they believably look cork. It's I had to write her back and say, well, actually there's like, go.

that's so good. That's fantastic.

This episode of the mac power users is brought to you by one password, yet twenty percent off your one password plan. Just go to one password. T com slash in P, U. One password is the tool you need to get security and productivity wrapped into one.

With one password, you can secure every signing, store all your signs, and secure volts with the ability to security, share passwords, secrets and more, and you can use those passwords in every application. You can manage access to every application and web account for every member of your account, whether it's a family, a company or an individual plan. And that's why you can do IT from any device, sign into everything from any device and manage permissions to ensure only healthy devices are allowed access.

And that's why over one hundred and fifty thousand businesses trust one password. They've got everything covered. They have built IT in a way that is meant to protect you.

And they've got a plan for everyone from an enterprise down to an individual or family account. We're going up on a holiday. It's a great time to help the rest of your family get healthy password habits and is a great time to get them signed up for one password.

I've done that to a lot of my family members over the years, and they come back and thank me for IT because password and security on the internet is something that everybody knows they need, but most people don't know how to pull off. But if you want to worry about IT, once you get a one password account, you just sign up and they've got you covered. It's the most used enterprise password manager is rated the best password manager by wired magazine.

You really can't go wrong. So as the holiday is approach, make sure you talk to your family members about good, safe, secure password protection. One password has got you covered, and if you send them to one password, doc colum, such nb.

U, they get twenty percent off, which makes you look pretty good. Maybe that means you even get a Better holiday give later. So it's a win, win that you are one last time, one past where dot com slip you to get yourself of that twenty percent off.

Go check IT out and share with a friendly family today. Alright, we haven't talked about apple gear at Stephen. What what apple gear goes on the gift list this year.

I mean, obviously the most adorable mac of all time, the the for mac mini, this where we're going to talk about new max next week. Uh, but this thing, I have no need for mac many at this time, but I want one. I wanted put google eyes on him, and I wanted to be my friend. It's IT looks so cool.

I completely agree. The act mini is so cute and useful. It's got some USB c points on the front. We're going to get into IT. But yeah, I I think for a lot of people that are unhappy that there's no imac, this mac many plus and ice display, that's your imac, guys.

I think. So I will .

talk about the new ipad pro. I think this was a big year for the ipad pro. You know, we get the the new design every once in a while, and they they did make a bunch of improvements this year.

I had the original of the last design and I updated to the new one. And the same is, is such a chap. I use IT all the time. And if you've got someone your life that that needs an ipad pro and you know who that is, this is an excEllent year for an upgrade.

Yeah, it's got the m four. And the m four actually debut in the ipad, which is the first time we've had a new apple alicant ship show up there first, which is very interesting, display is incredible. Yet the ipad pro is really come into its own.

I think and I think I was on a good job pretty much without the ipad line. Like I think it's still too complicated in places. But I think the debate we're having a few years ago, like what's the difference of an arena pro? They've settled out.

The pro is wait out ahead now. And I think that's good. I think if you want something mid range, the ipad air is great. You want something cheap, get the thinks in even something song at the minute. Like it's confusing with like what keyboards work with, what they need to clean some of that up. But I feel like the m for ipad pro kind of set a new bar like this is what an ipad can be, hardware wise and IT makes all a sense, I think, for that to continue to to push .

that envelope. yeah. And I also think Frankly that this is this is IT for a while. I mean, they are not going to make up a lot of big changes in the next couple iterations of this thing.

IT will get Better, obviously, don't buy one of the one you have is working and you're happy with IT. But if you're looking for an upgrade, I think this is the one. And then like my opinion would be i'll hold on to this until they have another big iteration, probably in about six years like they did with the last one.

I think a great gift um in the application system is airports right airports four or the four with agro isse cancellation or great um but I wanted cause the airports pro two which been on sale for a while now um i've got I use them everyday and I initially and still sometimes don't love the rubber tip feeling but i've come to accept IT for all the benefits of the airports s pro to that the norwest cancer tion is much Better than what's on the airports s which I did I did try back in september and up not keeping them the fit wasn't really give IT for me.

But the airport pro two, in particular this year are getting a lot of really hearing features. So hearing protection, a hearing test and the hearing assistance to boost frequencies where you ve lost hearing. And over on mac stories are from john, where there's really personal peace about taking the hearing test and realizing that he had more hearing loss than he thought, and then trying to hearing assistance and like talking about what a difference that has made for him.

And he talked about IT also on episode connected in october that he filled in for me about how I had made hearing his wife easier when he was speaking like from across the house. And you know, that's of matters. And it's important in the impacts people and things like hearing loss.

A lot of people don't get treated for IT. Or don't we kind of realize IT because I can happen over time, but apple is putting IT in the airports. Pro is is really powerful.

Yes, there is still room for, you know, gossip, professional and sing, you know, professional having professional hardware, hearing ages and stuff. But this is a great way to kind of see what's going on with you. And I love that apples doing this and they are ports for two. In my mind, they're really gotten Better with time, which is not something we see a lot in tech.

Yeah agreed. I still need to do IT because I definitely hearing I have the tonight is tenney's whatever how are you proud IT? I hear my or third between my two years at all times.

It's why I always have background noise and self end. And I go get test day every once well, but it's been several years and I understand that there actually could be some help for me with these things. And I just have had time to really dig in on IT IT that's on my list.

Um but getting back to the apple gear recommendations, I think just like the ipad for a significant update, weve got a really nice update to share to the apple watch. And i'm actually buying in an apple watch for someone in my life. Um she's uh she's recently widow and she's living alone and you know she's of a certain age and I feel like the you know the thing where you fall down and you can get help and it's just like IT just seems like such a natural for her to have.

But I know in the past she's been a little lary of IT, but the apple watch get thinner. It's just so much nice or now there's some really nice bans. I'm gonna really trying at this person in apple watch this Christmas. And i'm going to start by buyer, one of these new series ten watches.

Yeah, they look fantastic. I've gonna change to seem in the apple store now. And the the the nicer ones with the titanium, but they're polish. They look like the old steel watches. And so I feel like you've really got a White selection in terms of finishes between the aluminium and the titanium options.

And like a great watch, I think, you know, I kind of time about the ipads, the upper watch has this life cycle where every three, four, five years as a kind of a bigger jump. And then it's very iterative. And that's totally fine because most people wear an apple watch three, four, five years, but this is one of those years.

This is like going from the series three to four or H I think was the seven head like the rounded off edges? Um this is this is a good year for the apple watch in the series ten, I think is gonna make a lot of people happy with that larger screen because in person, like the way that sits on your rest is very different from the ultra, get a lot of benefit of the larger screen size without the bulk. They really they really kind of done something very clever with the design. And from the few folks i've heard from who have IT had been y'd been very pleased with that.

Yeah and now that you mention, I think I may just bring her to the store and let her pick IT. I felt if SHE invest in that more like SHE picks the color in the band and self that i'll make IT yeah here for her.

are you? So all right.

Well, that's one of the gift i'm where we're looking forward to giving this year.

Kay, so it's now time for the well around this is where mony's less of an object ah what you got.

you know, I struggle with this one and I think i'm i'm repick something. But a year or two O I recommended the bamboo three d printer. And I just want to renew my enthusiasm for this pic for the right people. I have enjoyed three printing so much, and largely its storage.

But if you went around indoor studios and you open random jours, and you're the kind of person that likes to say, like an organized ed draw, you would love looking through my draws because they are so organized and it's all using great finance and everything has its place. But yeah, three d printing is is a way to create stuff without really doing any work. You know, he had throw a 3d design at IT。 Then you go check on IT when is done in bamboo? Is the apple of 3d printers like they sell you all the extra parts, they have the filament.

And another people three day Operating envisions that are clinching right now because they like IT Better when you you know you have the open source stuff but now I like bamboo is just so easy yeah and you can buy the film amount from them it's got like a little Q R code on the real. So don't you have to tell the printer what kind of filming you put in? In the arty knows it's just like everything just works and and I am more enthusiastic about this purchase now than I was a year ago.

It's it's just great. So that's a gift for somebody. I actually heard from a listener who bought one last year my recommendation in and he's really enjoying IT too and we traded a few models. It's just yeah three d printers. I've got to a point where it's not just A A goofy hobby is a thing that where you can actually make stuff yeah.

it's great. And I think bamboo is we've definitely corner the market like ease of use and just like the whole ecosystem. I've got a proa mark four and it's great. And i've really I poured through some stuff with IT, but IT is not as user friendly as I think the bamboo is and I thought was a bit more of learning curve with IT. If I had to do IT over, I honestly probably won't gone the bamboo rout.

But um it's great and being able to make your own stuff is really cool and even making little things for other people right as fans you can you make about Christmas or ones or something for your family? Um it's cool. Three to bring is fun.

We we talked a lot about IT. We both enjoy IT for similar reasons and it's a it's come a long way. This used to be really nerdy. And I mean, you could still spend a lot of money, but this is like a prime example of technology gets cheaper over time. Three d printing has really brought this this sort of manufacturing to the masses in a way that just seemed impossible ten years ago.

Yes, it's unna. You say the ornaments because we're recording the show in early november, but the Spark's family takes Christmas pretty seriously. And I wanted to put ornament ents on some the outdoor trees this year. So I bought a filament that is uv friendly. And as we speak, IT is printing Christmas ornaments in the garage.

So that's great.

Yeah, it's nice. And and all the way, by the way, it's also printing little tiny x wings that are i'm going to hang on the tree as well.

That sounds about right. The other .

tracer because of me ah okay, well, even the well round is is your baby. Let's look you like one honest here.

a fully working apple lisa. We would make a great good if i'm on west .

if you .

going out for me with the lisa. This computer before the macintosh um was not successful for a bunch of reasons. I got a blog post that I read about IT years ago.

I'll go on the notes um but they are extremely collectable. The average Price of a working one is about five grand in the us. And even ones quote for parts are still thousands.

This is on, this is on. This is the top really of like what I would like to collect one day. It's way, way out of my reach in terms of collecting. But if you ve got one lane around, you don't want, you know, cn.

and you never know.

Last time I said that I forget what I was about, but the listen was like, I have one, do you want? IT obviously wasn't lisa, but I forget what I was here. Just a really cool, weird corner of apple history and one that I think kind of gets the the short of the stick is the macintosh took off. Know the lisa crowds are the macos could run, but it's cool and my my studio needs one.

And you know it's funny because when apple decided to stop selling IT for the right down on their taxes, they dumped many of them into a landfill.

Yeah, it's like.

what would those have been worth if somebody had stuck up in the warehouse? I don't know, but the maybe they wouldn't even worth as much because theyd be so available. But this is a funny .

story yeah the verge of a document mini about that exact thing and I will put a link to that the soon as well thirty minutes like put on some popcorn and watch IT IT nothing like that would happen today is so bizarre how they ended the story um and a William poor over the versions and others worked on this and did a great job with IT.

There's also a documentary about the lisa that came out this year by a guy named ed David gillies. Yes, and he sent me a code I watched IT IT was really entertaining in fun and really interesting because a lot of the you know that the apple folks that we came to know later were involved with that and like you know they were they they showed pictures of the very first like three d um or or full color pixellated icons that they were making and stuff that like we take for granted now. But they were basically inventing for the lisa. And the first thing is the way he was documenting IT was he would take a polar aid picture of a screen because, yeah, there wasn't any other way to documented .

in that wild. I mean, yeah, you not make a screen shots even if you do, what do you do with them? You know, I guess, pretty call. Yeah.

it's prety cool. And I struggle with the well round because I fortunate ough. I have the things in my life that I need and I can't think of start me to think of things really expensive that I would recommend people buying um but maybe a sign of my age is that travel is fun.

And I think one of the things Daisy and I did this year, we had our thirty at wedding anniversary. We went over to paris for a few days and I was really enjoy a bolen. And I think i'd be a great gift for someone special in your life. Think of, think of a nice trip and take them on a trip. So I know it's kind of a cop out, but that was uh I think it'd be a nice gift.

No, it's that's a great idea. Some some of the best stuff i've done the last few years like me, a trip to just made my wife in um that can be really great and then have to you don't to go wild with that, right? You can you can find something easy to do nearby and it's great. Okay, my last one.

just the way you said that I know this one is expensive. I'm picking .

the line now. This is one of those pages we ve got to scroll way down before you see the Price. I wear an apple watch every day, but I do have some other watches that I will wear occasionally.

None of them are particularly nice, like I hold up of g sharks to get a time next that I like. If I had this thing out where map watch less, I think this is the speed master moon watch professional at seven grand, forty two millimeters stainless deal. Uh, this is the watch, or the heritage of the watch, that the astronauts were on the moon fifty years ago, that NASA went through, uh, lots of testing. And I think initially somebody is war one, than to be became official to painting what you read that story varies exactly what happened. Um again, part of spaces through which I think cool that just looks awesome.

Ah they have different versions of this um if you get to stay for a cystinosis a grand which is bananas uh but it's it's a very timeless watch and any time I see one in the world that catches my eye, I don't know how many they are actually real or not but that that's fine but to bring that down A A little bit to the the rest of us, a swatch and omega had A A collaboration and they made the moon swatch, which is A A swatch watch that's really hard to say and actually made several of them. So it's missions to earth, mission to the sun, missions to mars um that at each of the planets and they were really hard to come by when they first went on sale. But now earth, son, moon, mars, you can just get and so ah they are not stainless steal.

The two or seventy dollars are still a lot of money, but is not seven thousand, is not car money or not use car money um but if you want to look and tuna seven doors is in your budget ah this is the way to go. So I actually have ordered one of the the moon swatches and I have IT here with me and it's really light weight like to be honest with you IT doesn't feel like a tune every dollar watch like IT feels like seventy thousand once like i'm not very happy with the build quality but IT looks pretty good um until you go to touch IT and doesn't have all the the cool features of the regular one. But IT gets you in the ball game in terms of looks. And so maybe that's A A more reasonable option for most people.

I feel like they'll be a danger live, Steven, or it'll be something that you you own. Maybe I don't know, I don't know how it'll happen, but at some point you're .

going to figure that out. You know, I stumble into a barn full of lisas, and I sell two of them. I keep the other six for myself. Obviously.

they but two of the .

eight that I have discovered magically you know you know you see on youtube like barnt fines for like old cars like someone gets a phone calls, like, oh, my husband died fifty years ago and i'm selling the the property and there's this car in the barn and you've out there and to some, like jack R E type, it's been covered in a tarp for forty years. Like somewhere out there I believe there's lisas like that. And when I stumbled across them, maybe I can afford to a real speed master no.

I don't know how gonna happen, but you're onna, get one making a prediction. You know, something just knows. You can look at this watch page.

And I really dislike these watches where they have low contrast between the hands and the background. The moon watch is great. It's dark background, White hands, but the the mission of mars watches White background, White hands. And this is a thing on the apple watch that drives me.

That's like some of the faces do that where it's like just White hand or duck black hands on the black behind the california face has some variants that have contrast in colors, but most of them don't. And and I just would like IT to be more visible when I look at the watch and there's no way to adjust that. Yeah and you know another thing I might list for, you know when we talk about the apple .

watch and I just i'll say this to apple, you know in the future, if you if you open the door the third party watch faces, it's not going to be seven thousand dollars but i'm sure like I will pay you some amount of money for an apple watch face that looks like a speed master, right? That would be cool. Like, I mean, that is such an argument for that to be a feature on the apple watch. I know watchmakers that want to do and the apple is want to do IT is very complicated, but i'm just saying that would be cool.

Well, I mean, I think theyd be silly not to like waterfall mega could sell you a one hundred dollar speed mater face. They know that people like you that can afford an actual speed minister are going to buy IT, right? But they also know a lot of people like us yeah, we would like to be matter and can't afford IT, but we could probably find one hundred books.

Yeah, it's the only .

way like .

it's the only way i'm gonna become an omega customer. Yeah, I will say for bonus points because I was just looking at the mega website. I have not seen this before, but i'm in love with IT the speed master dark side of the moon, Apollo.

Apollo was the mission that went around. The moon is the very famously they read ah they read like versions from the bibles. They came around the moon.

They did the authorized photo like polite, very famous. This is a version of the speed master. The face is the lunar landscape.

And one of the small hands is the saturn five that goes around the circle. This is very good. I did not know this existed, but it's over your sitting down. It's fourteen thousand dollars.

But I mean that that landscape .

isn't cheap. No, no. But boy IT looks pretty cool.

Well, i'm gonna predict you're .

onna get that one. No, that that's I know.

I feel like this is your, you know what if I call IT your .

like the White well.

you know yeah the .

White well around I was have renamed .

bit they they call grill. You know, this is your grill and the pen people, they called your grail pen this this is your grail watch. I feel like eventually you're gonna get one.

Unfortunately, I don't have that sickness. I don't care you about that. I'm happy with my if I add up how much i've spent on the apple watches over the years, I don't want to think about IT too.

You could be in the speed master, I mean the same way, really, right? Like the even though I have these these other watches, the utility of the apple watch and especially the health tracking stuff is so good and important to me. It's pushed out other watches.

And I wasn't always just when in fact, when I joined in pu, I was not wearing an apple watch. I went through several year period wide dennet. And that has changed and the ultra help change that.

But really the the the uptake in health, in activity tracking features that apple and others have written for IT. And this was something going on one of my life every day. And so um you know like going to sunday or you know like there were some days on hypothetical.

I didn't put the apple watch on over the holiday like you thank you. Christmas order stuff like db days where I don't wear in apple watch, I wear something else. But the apple watch is really hard darky with in terms of the only value. But what IT can do for you proactively every day?

I put IT on every day.

Yeah two .

there and and that's why I am so cranking about the the watch places. It's like their pixels. You guys could make Better ones. Yeah why is the utility face? The watch face was there on day one, still one of the few good analogue faces after all these years.

I know and .

and and like you said, there's such an opportunity to like work without make a and and everybody could benefit from that in. And maybe maybe they are just waiting waiting for a year when they don't have anything else to do like, okay, here's your faces, Sparky, right well, day ago and hopefully we found something for you to put on your list or or to get for somebody else. It's always been heading in the holidays and and giving gifts when you were a kid uh, did you just open your presence on Christians morning or or how did you .

guys do IT when you grow up? See my mom's birthday, Christmas eve. And okay, she's the second Youngest of eight siblings. And so growing up, you know, Chris wasn't big for any of them that grew up poor like just there was a lot of money. But as with eight kids, like just I think birthday, Christmas kind of get merged into one. And so growing up um rifle ly so like I think he wanted to change something that we've always been like birthday her birthday stuff on Christmas eve. And part of that for us, I was like getting to open one gift. And so when we were little, my brother, like parents would pick the gift that I think they would get something intentionally knowing IT was the Christmas eve gift um but now as an adult, you know we spend persave at her house with our kids and my brother and you know nieces and nephews and the um that tradition has continued on where we all get to open a gift on Christmas eve like with my mom is part of for her birthday and I think that's fun you know I think that's a fun element to IT and try to make her birthday special but also support of Christmas is a baLance but I think one that she's happy with.

which is great yeah I like letting the kids open one and crises. And as a kid I got to open one and crisis even. And with our kids, what we did is we let them open the gifts to each other unpresentable ve, and that because usually, you know, when are little, it's so hard for them to contain their secret.

Anyway, you're kind of defusing that they and they get open up whatever they bought each other and and I really want them, you know to appreciate each other and that's it's kind of a moment for them. So that's why we did that too. All right again.

Um few uh weeks left between now the holidays, the time to go out and buy someone a nice gift or something for yourself. Put IT on your list. We are the mac power users you can find over, relate out of him, flash in to you.
