Meta Platform says it will buy power from a nuclear plant in Illinois for 20 years under a deal with Constellation Energy. The nuclear power giant's shares climbed 6.5% on the news this morning. The deal is similar to one Constellation agreed with Microsoft last year around the Three Mile Island plant in Pennsylvania. The dollar general attracted more customers across a wider range of incomes in its latest quarter as shoppers continue to prioritize deals and values in the face of higher prices stemming from tariffs.
The discount retailer raised its full sales outlook expecting sales to rise 3.7% to 4.7% for the fiscal year ending January 30th. Israeli troops shot at Palestinians in southern Gaza on their way to an aid distribution site. The Israeli military said some ignored warning shots and approached troops.
According to Palestinian Rescue Services and the Gaza Health Ministry, 27 Palestinians were killed and 90 injured. It's the second deadly shooting in the same area in a week as thousands have flocked to aid distribution sites as part of an American-Israeli plan. The Dutch governing coalition collapsed today after far-right politician Geert Wilders pulled out of the ruling bloc. He has accused the other parties of not doing enough to curb immigration.
Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof said he would resign, setting the stage for a snap election. And inflation in the eurozone fell to 1.9% in May, below the ECB's target, signaling potential victory over post-pandemic inflation.
