You are listening to A Psychic Story, a podcast that shares behind-the-scenes insights of people who lead supernatural lives among the ordinary. And I'm your host, Nicole Bigley. Join me every Wednesday as I dispel the myths behind magic and lore. Welcome to A Psychic Story. Mysticism Demystified.

Hi, psychic listeners. Our guest for this episode of A Psychic Story is a channel transformation coach and meditation teacher practicing in the cause Nepali shamanic tradition. This is the story of Tatiana Wright. Welcome to A Psychic Story, Tatiana. Hi, thank you so much, Nicole. It's awesome to be here. Yes. Well, I am looking forward to learning about the Nagas, the guardians of mystical knowledge. But first, what was your very first spiritual, supernatural, paranormal, or psychic experience?

That's both a difficult and an easy question to answer. Just because I guess I've been having them, you know, my whole life. But I wasn't aware that I was having them until later on in my life.

The story that's coming that wants to be told now in this moment is when I was a child living in Asia, in Bangkok, and I was living in a haunted hotel. My dad was in hotels, so we lived in a hotel. And unbeknownst to me, I would have these insane visions. I would see kind of like quite scary things.

images actually uh if anyone has watched you know asian horror films i feel like a lot of those are inspired by the spirits of of the land you know in japan in thailand and china like they're just you know there's a different uh type of being let's say uh and so at there was a point in time when i was younger where uh a an entity jumped into my body to protect me to keep me safe

And I didn't know this until I was about 38 or 39, somewhere around there. And I went to see somebody because I went to see a healer. I could just feel there was something in my body that I wasn't sure if it needed to be released. I actually thought it was related more to my mother and my relationship with my mother.

And so I had made an appointment to see her. The first session I had, she laid me on her table, she touched my feet and she said, oh, you're not here for your mother. She's like, that's another time. She said, right now you've actually got someone, there's a spirit that's been residing in your body who very much wants to leave. And she said, so for lack of a better description, I'm going to perform an exorcist and just do nothing like a Hollywood performance.

exorcism. And she said, she was holding onto my feet and then asked me, where did you live as a child in Asia? And at first I said, Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. She said, no, that's not it. And then I said, Bangkok, Thailand. She said, yes, that's it. And you lived in a haunted hotel. And this woman knew nothing about me. And then she held on and she said, you, a spirit jumped in your body to protect you.

to keep you safe because you were young and she merged with you. And obviously I lived there for four years and then she said, and you moved countries, which is true. I moved to Sydney, Australia and grew up there. And she said, and she has been almost displaced, but like, but stuck in your body. And so she, and she really wants to live. So she lifted her up. I could feel it on a very subtle level. She did a series of things. It wasn't just a quick, okay, here we go up and out.

But she had her come up and I could literally feel the energy lift up out of my body on a very subtle level. And this lightness just completely overcame me. And in that moment, it was like...

someone else's thoughts or feelings had gone like things like um i you know i didn't i never liked pineapples and i didn't know why it was just this sort of unknown there were these these experiences and then she said now that she has let we've cleared her from you you're going to you're going to be you've been basically restored to how you were and a completely open uh being that uh all the spirits are going to see you so she was so she basically was like okay you're

a lighthouse now. Let me know what happens over the next, you know, few days, couple of weeks. And I was just like, what do you, what do you mean? And she said, well, you're going to know very quickly because they're going to all start seeing you because you've now been your, who you're supposed to be. And almost immediately when I left, I got in my car and I could smell

uh, like a really rank, um, almost like stale cigarette smell, like a, um, like that's kind of cigarette smell from when we used to smell smoking clubs or people used to smoke around you, like days old, like clothing that had that cigarette smell. And it just was, I went to pick my kids up from school. They were little and they got in the car, they could smell it. And it just kind of trailed me. And then that got into my house that night. Uh, this was

Constantly things were happening very, very quickly. So within that first several days, so there like that evening, a back door that was locked, blew totally open. You know, the smoke manifested above the dining table when I was eating dinner with my kids. My husband would travel a lot for work, so he was...

often not home. Uh, so a lot of these experiences I was having with myself and my children. And then I told her about them and she said, Oh yeah, you know, yeah. I'd like, they're all seeing you. You need to figure out how you, uh, when I'm giving you obviously super quick version of this story, but you, you've got to, uh, feel into how it is you want to show up.

for the spirits. They're literally coming to you and seeing you. As I, as I said to you, you're being seen as a lighthouse, like a beacon for them, this light. And, and she said, but if you don't, you have to decide if you don't want to be, you know, assisting, um, deceased spirits that are stuck in this realm or, or,

whatever. Then she said, I have, there's somebody I can, you know, connect you with that can help you. And so I did, I did do that. And it was really interesting to work with this person. And I learned a technique of becoming aware of their presence and using my left hand to move them through asking, are you here for me? No. Are you here for me? No. Are you here for me? No. Waiting for that, like, and it became very quick. So it was a,

tuning in to, are you here for me? A yes or a no. So no, if you're not here for me, then off you go. As you would a stranger coming to your home or meeting a living human that you're not interacting with or whatever. And so it was explained to me that in the spirit world, you can do a similar thing. So this was about 12 years ago. And I was excited to be open and aware of

my spiritual gifts, but I actually had no idea how I wanted to use them at that time. I had no idea. And, uh, and so that was, that was sort of the big, the beginning of my reintroduction to my psychic gifts. And that sort of set me on this path. I was working in television and as a TV producer and it really, um,

It's altered my hope, my, you know, the sort of the trajectory of, of, you know, what I'm doing today, essentially. Well, that's fascinating. I have a lot of questions. And the first one was when you knew you wanted to go to someone and you thought it was your mother or that energy that you wanted healing from or whatever.

however you would explain that, what were the things that you were experiencing that led you to want to go to someone? Okay. So I don't have a good relationship with my mother and had not for a very long time. And I really wanted to understand and explore what was being stored in my body, what was being held here that was preventing this relationship from moving forward or from just dissolving and making peace with that so I could move on.

And I had attempted many times when I became a mother for the first time with my son, who's now almost 21. I wanted to, it was important for me to, you know, rekindle that or understand just what's going on here. And I had met this other woman at school. Our kids both went to the same school.

And we were paired together at a sporting event. And that day, all these other parents were coming up to her and thanking her for what she had done. And so I asked her what she had done. She explained. And then I felt immediately, I need to go see you. There's something I need to go and, you know, talk to you. And, and that's what led me to essentially do a session, book a session with her. Okay. Yeah.

Thank you for that. And then one of the things I did want to ask too is that there are people out there, practitioners, that'll say you have an attachment or something is within you that like kind of what you're describing or...

What helped you feel comfortable and safe with this person when she said what she said, other than the fact that she knew things about you that she didn't know? But also, is there any advice that you could give people? Because there are practitioners out there that will say, you have attachments or dark energy, and then they take you for loads of money. So I feel like it would be responsible for us to talk a little bit about that before we move too much further on.

Okay, no, that's a great question. Absolutely. And so trust, that's the first thing, trust. And I don't mean I trusted her, I trusted myself, I trusted my own spirit guide. So even though I was having this, even though I had this experience where I wasn't as open as I am today, I was still very open.

And so I was still in communication. I still had very strong intuition. I was still, I had a, you know, still have my, my spiritual practices evolved since that time. But I were, I immediately just knew she's right. It was a whole body. Yes. It was a yes. It just resonated as truth. It wasn't.

I never questioned it. It wasn't like you're a charlatan, you're taking me for a ride. And it also wasn't coming from a place of darkness. It wasn't like, I wasn't scared. I was just, I knew from my own experiences in my memories and the feeling in my body that I could go back to that period as a child. So the United Nations, I was almost eight. I was in Bangkok, I was almost eight. So I wasn't like a two or three year old where I couldn't remember things. I was totally aware of what I was seeing. And then this moment of, um,

Yeah, absolutely. And the other reason I ask is because when I first started getting into Reiki and I, this was before I had gone through my actual attunement and certification process in my early 20s.

I was on the table and the Reiki person at the time who was working on me, I felt, you know how you feel really safe and peaceful and calm when you're on the table and you kind of zone out. I mean, that's at least my experience for the most part. And it was really just the sponge allowing everything to kind of absorb. And at one point I all of a sudden started feeling icky and there was this, I wanted to jump off

up off the table, but I shoved it down. And I said to myself, I don't know where this is coming from, get it out of your head. But I didn't make any movement, didn't say anything. And right at that moment, the person who was working on me said, oh no. And she could feel the energy coming in. So I share that not to put people in fear mode, but to also, no matter who you go to,

And who's working on you, what you say is very important. Trust your own intuition, what your higher self and or your spirit team is telling you, because there are very good people out there in terms of practitioners that know. But I also thought it was all love and light. Now, to be clear, this person wasn't doing anything. She was sensing an energy that was coming into the space and she immediately cleared it. But there are those experiences that happen. And so anyway, that's why I wanted to ask you what you think.

what you had experienced on the table and what she was saying and what she was pulling through. And it sounds like it was a very powerful miracle of sorts that she was able to release the spirit from you. Yeah, it was really powerful. And the same person who I later became good friends with, my daughter, who at the time was four or five in kindergarten, had picked up an entity and I knew it.

But I didn't, at that time, I didn't have the skills to identify and move that away myself. So I brought my daughter to my friend and she right away, she said, wow, there's a deceased, like the spirit of a deceased child who is in the bathrooms of the school has attached herself to you.

And so she had identified that. And without putting any fear into my daughter, who could feel it, by the way. And the reason I knew this is because she was having a whole separate, like a conversation with her. I would give her, she really loved eating the cucumber noris, the nori rolls when she was little. And this being was, this entity was telling her no, kept saying, no, don't. And she, and I couldn't hear the entity, but my daughter would say, no, but I like these. I'm going to eat them.

you know, I like these. And then I said, who are you talking to? And she told me the name of the spirit, the entity. I don't remember now. And I said, okay, I think you've got a spirit. You've got somebody attached to you. I'm taking you to go see Alyssa. Like we need to go. And we were getting ready to go on a trip to go away to Rome. And at the end she said, she had already cleared her, but she said, okay, when you're in

you're going to leave her there and, you know, and just say goodbye. And, you know, she's going to stay there. You don't have to worry about her again. But so, no, trust is the number one thing. Trusting yourself, trusting your inner guidance and your own intuition. You know, that's the number one thing. Yeah.

Yeah, no, thank you for that. And then, so when she said that you're a lighthouse, how else would you describe that? Because, so she said that you became who you are and who you're meant to be, that other energy was released from you because you mentioned that they jumped in to protect you. So it's almost like there was a shield of sorts or something that you were being blocked to some extent.

what does that lighthouse mean? Because I also have heard from my guides and angels, when somebody shares their light, it's like this beacon. So things are attracted to, is that mediumship abilities? Is it psychic abilities? Is it a light? Like, what is it exactly? So in the,

in the moment of her saying that to me, the vision that came to me was not literally a lighthouse, but actually the light of the lighthouse as more of a beacon, more like, okay, they see your brightness now that we had to conceal because too many of the, I guess, for lack of a better word,

scary entities or beings at that time in Bangkok were being attracted to me as a child, which, which is why I'm like, I mean, I never tuned up, went back to ask this woman because she'd been cleared for me. I didn't even know she was, um, sharing space in my body with me. Uh, so, but in that moment I saw this, this glow, this huge light, and I felt like,

okay, I'm going to be re-attracting whoever I'm supposed to be attracting. But to answer your question, so in that moment, so much was happening. I could hear, I could smell, I could see, I could feel. It was like this overwhelm of clairs, different types of, you know, clairaudience, clairsentience, like so many things were just flooding in. And I really, I really, I found it so...

Yeah, just overwhelming too much because I didn't want to be smelling, seeing this manifestation of smoke, also seeing forms, you know, sort of, and all kinds of forms. Like I saw this form that kind of looked like an Anubis type of bipedal being, so sort of a human body, but with almost a

head of a dog or something and, but as a shadow. And so, and my son could see it too. And, um, and this other form that, that was kind of like, uh, if anyone's ever seen the movie, the Japanese animation spirited away, the no face kind of character. Uh, and so there, so I was seeing a lot of things. Um, the spirits that were coming in succession really seemed to be

well, I know they were deceased humans who were stuck in this world. And I knew that

without a shadow of doubt, that that was not how I wanted to utilize my gifts. I knew that I did not want to be this intermediary, this medium who was tuning into these stuck people. And not that I didn't want to help them. I was just like, no, that's not what I'm supposed to be doing. And I just knew that I can't explain it other than an inner knowing and awareness of that, which is why I needed to learn the skill to

help guide them through and then say, no, on your way, like, hi, I'm happy. Like, I'm sorry. Can't help you basically, but on you go, somebody else will be there for you. It's not me.

And there are. There's tons of people, as you well know, who really utilize those gifts. But as I began to open up and really, I guess, strengthen what my true spiritual gifts are, which is channeling, communicating with my spirit team. We've talked about this before, channeling my own spirit team as you do, and then understanding who they are. And I was guided through, met Nagakanya. It's really corny, but

that saying, it's such a cliche, when the student is ready, the teacher appears. But it's true, but it's true. My experience with my teacher. But it wasn't immediate. It wasn't until about eight years later that this happened.

And it really, I then was diving in. I was really, uh, I had been practicing. I have meditated since I was a child because my dad did TM, Transcendental Meditation. So we were all initiated into that in the eighties. And, um, I just, I was really just diving into my tantric practice and really trying to, uh,

activate what I felt I needed to be activating within my body using rituals and mantra and practices like this in the tantric tradition, uh, Kashmir Shaivism. And so, but I, but I also knew that, uh, in quotes, tantra wasn't doing it for me. Yoga wasn't doing it for me. I needed to be, there was something else, uh,

And I had a great mentor and dear friend, Sally Kempton, who's no longer with us. But, and I would talk to her a lot about my experiences. And she said, yeah, you need to find a teacher that can help you and can help guide you in this

It wasn't like a, you know, it wasn't like, I didn't even know where to look. I had, I kept hearing the word shamanism, but I knew it wasn't South American. I knew it had nothing to do with Amazon or Ayahuasca or Native American shamanism. I was that for sure I knew.

And it's very empowering that, because I want to make sure too, that people don't hear about the darkness and the scary aspect of things, because this is your path and your story and how this unfolds. But it sounds like it was very empowering that as you were having those experiences, and especially the first person that you spoke to about this said, this is about the experiences that you want to have. And what are you using? That's why I asked the question, the lighthouse, that beacon, and then the mediumship, because

You then very quickly knew your own words, as you said, that that's not necessarily what you wanted to be doing. And so people that are listening, if you're doing this on your own to understand your own spiritual gifts and abilities and what your path is from a personal perspective, and or if you're looking to do that more from a practitioner standpoint and everything else, there are different paths for different people. And as you said, the teachers, but also

It's really about, and you can change your mind too over time. Your stepping stone could be phase one of something. And then over time you grow and you learn and you evolve from that perspective and how you show up. So thank you for sharing that. I want to dive in a little bit too about what are the Nagas and their origins specifically.

share about that and if you need to too, based on your shamanic journey and your learnings and how you connected with them too. Yeah. I might actually start there because I didn't know anything about the Nagas. I had absolutely no idea. I'd never heard of them, part through the tantric tradition in India. I was familiar with seeing the representation of the Nagas, which are serpents. Naga means snake, means serpent.

And I've seen them on the iconography. So, for example, Shiva has a serpent called Vasuki who is around his neck. We also learn about Kundalini as this dormant energy, sort of serpentine-like energy that's within the body. And so that was honestly it. I didn't know that the Nagas were called the Nagas.

And I had this experience where I had gone to, um,

there's another the artist alex gray he was just like quite a well-known psychedelic artist uh has a house in upstate new york and on one weekend he had this uh they often have events and they had a shaman come and he was not uh associated with plant medicine which i i was it was appealing to me i didn't want to do that not not just for my own post i've already kind of experienced explored that it wasn't something i knew i needed to take me to this other realm to alter my state of consciousness

And so it was through drumming and it was over this weekend that I met my spirit animal. So there were two major activations. One was I was introduced to my spirit animal, who's a horse. His name is Z, D-Z-I, like the Tibetan Z-beard, which I thought was really interesting. And he shapeshifts. He can sometimes be a pegasus, but mostly he's a horse. And sometimes he changes color, but mostly he's this golden white color. And he takes me to this realm, which is

quite amazing. And so then the second experience was we had to partner with somebody and, uh, we, with our, we bought a pad and crayons or colored pencils and we did this, uh, journey and we had to tune into, you know, something for them and illustrate it and tell them what should we tune into. And this woman that I was paired with tuned into this, not this serpent, serpentine goddess and,

For me. And she then drew a picture and she's like, wow, you have this amazing being with you. She's got the body of the lower body of a snake and the upper body of a woman. And she's got huge wings and she has this crown of snakes and she's really amazing. I don't know what her name is, but she really wants you to, to know her.

and that that's the message that she has for you. And so later that day I was leaving and like, I come back to my home and I'm looking online, you know, Googling serpent, half serpent being, you know, and a goddess, you know, and, and really nothing's coming up except the name Nagakanya. That seemed to be the only thing consistent. And so this is, uh, I want to say, Oh God, you know, nine years ago, maybe, maybe seven years ago. And so, uh,

So I'm, you know, doing sort of online research and literally nothing's coming up and I'm

over the series I was going that was in the summer it was like August later like in October November I was going to go to India and and I thought okay when I go to India I'll ask some friends there maybe they'll know more about her um but in the meantime because I was living in New York I went to the Met and I went into the Asian wing and I just thought maybe there's some iconography or something here in the Met that will shed some potential light on you know this being or just

you know, other kind of serpentine beings. And so I went there and there's this huge room that's got a massive relief that's obviously been taken from the temple at some point. And it's the Buddha and it's huge. It's the whole wall and underneath the

Buddha are these two serpentine beings holding platters of gems. And I did see other reliefs from temples that are stone carvings and so on. But I just thought, okay, this is a start. And I looked, where are they from? Are they Hindu? Are they Nepali? Are they Tibetan? What part of the Himalayas are they from? It kind of just had this sense, it's North India or North, it's that part of the world.

And so, but I didn't, I still wasn't learning anything or anything of significance, you know? And then I had been working with, uh, Sandra Ingerman, who I had just, just through the shift network, because I had felt this connection, this pull to shamanism. I just did some like really simple, simple in quotes, uh,

online stuff. And then I felt like I really, I really want to work with, with Sandra. Uh, you, it's difficult to sort of switch out to her. Uh, you have to write her a handwritten letter, include your email. And if you, I guess if you resonate with you, she writes back and

back. And so she did, she wrote back to me over email and, and we started this relationship, this friendship, and I did some journey work with her. And it was in one of those journeys that I journeyed unbeknownst to me to the Nagaloka and which is the realm of where the Nagas live, uh, in, in really any body of water. But in this instance, I was guided, uh, and the journey is through your drumming, your drumming, and that it alters your states of consciousness. And so she's guiding it

And I'm going to the, I get into a boat, sort of like a canoe, but I'm standing and then there's almost like a staff with a light. And so it's dark and I'm guided and there's this opening in like some kind of a lake or a large pond and almost like a whirlpool, it just goes down. Wow.

in and then i go down and i and i just had this really beautiful experience of you know seeing nagakanya uh and just other other nagas and it was this incredible looking space that uh is filled with gems and so and the light almost that light of the the torch that was with me in the boat was slightly it was i it just was with me and i i was

casting this incredible illumination of, you know, just the reflection of all the sparkly gems. And it was so beautiful. Just, I didn't feel scared at all. I just went with it. And, and then I was called back up to come back up out of the journey and it was really amazing. And so anyway, I just had that experience. And then shortly thereafter, I, I not think it wasn't like anything massive was revealed to me, but just this

sense of, okay, this feels right. This is where I'm supposed to be. And so anyway, next month I'm in India and I'm asking my friend about, do you know anything about the Nagas? Because I've noticed that he has some statues of Nagakanya.

And he says, oh, she's, you know, the, this is the goddess of Kundalini. I had this immediate reaction of, no, she's not. I was like, no, you know, no, she's not. And, uh, and, and he just looked at me and I just, I just don't feel like that's who she is. You know, I don't. And, uh, and then I said, but what I'm really feeling is I need her, I need to learn her mantra. I really am looking, I really want to connect with her. I feel like I need to learn her mantra. And, and

And he says, well, her mantra will come to you when you're ready. I'm just like, all these cryptic, you know, like, I'm just like, oh, can you just tell me if you know it? Like, can you just tell me? I don't want to like wait for it to just come to me. So anyway, I'm in Rishikesh and I'm walking through, you know, part of Rishikesh and there's this little, little store that I love to go into. And it's a, it's a, it's a tiny hole in the wall. So it's a little gallery.

of sorts but it's a room crochet family multi-generational room crochet family and so there's this young sort of apprentice that that's in there who's an artist and uh and i walk in and there on the wall i walk straight in is basically a new version of that same exact painting that was at the met with the buddha and the two nuggets served with these gems on platters you know looking up the

up the border and I walk in and I say, oh my God, you know, do you know, you've got the nuggets here? And he says to me, well, do you know about the nuggets? And I said, no, I don't know anything about them. Do you? And he's like, oh, I know a little bit, you know, like, oh my God, tell me. So I sit down with him and he starts to tell me the story of

of their wisdom and how they're the wisdom keepers of the earth and the waterways and all of their connection to the Buddha in his tradition, which was not Nepalese. It was not Hindu. It was an Indian. He was Tibetan. And so he's telling me in Tibetan Buddhism how the Nagas relate there. And all this was just resonating as like, yes, yes, yes, this all feels right.

And so then I thanked him and I left and I realized, okay, I've been searching in the wrong tradition. I've been looking in the Hindu tradition and searching up Nagas in the Hindu tradition. And I wasn't, I was getting, you know, I'd have come across beautiful mythology stories about Vatsuki and, and the churning of the ocean of milk and, uh, things like

this, but it really had nothing to do with Nagaranya and who she is. And so I started to, I just went back online and searched up Nagaranya and the Tibetan tradition or Nepalese tradition and this

article comes up, not even article, it's like someone had scanned in a page from a book on a website. That's always the way, right? And so it's like this one page, literally one page, and it says Nagakanya. And so I read it and I'm like, oh my God, you know, and then it's got the Naga mantra, so Nagakanya's mantra, but they're on the next page, which hasn't been uploaded. And I'm like, oh,

And I sit back and I'm just like, okay, this is like, like a breadcrumb. I've been given a breadcrumb here. What's the name of this book? I'm like, what's the name of this book? So that's written there. So then I search up the book. I'm like, oh my God, this book, what is this book? And it had just come out and it's, it's on Amazon. I'm like, oh my God. So I buy the book. I would be home in India, like in five days time. I thought it'll be there before I get home. So I buy the book

I get back to America, back to New York. And there's the book. I open the package. I rip it up. I don't even look at the cover. I just go to the contents. I literally go to the chapter on the nuggets. I go, there's Naga Kanya. I read that. I look at the mantra. I'm like, oh my God, this is it. And then I close the book and I look at the

the actual name of the book, which is Shamanic, I can't even remember, Shamanic Nepalese Practices. It's actually my teacher's book, Bola Nathbunstola, and he, which he had co-published, I think it's, maybe it's not Inner Traditions, but anyway, this is, you know, several years ago now. But I closed the book cover and there on the front, it says, Forward by Sandra Ingerman.

And I'm like, Sandra. So I emailed her immediately and I say, oh my God, I just, I tell her really briefly this connection and like with my whole journey and, and you know, I'm like, and then I bought this book and oh my God, I can't believe you wrote the foreword. And she wrote back immediately. I'm so glad you found your teacher. I'm going to introduce you to him. And I was just like, oh my God, you freaking knew all this time. Yeah.

And, uh, and so that, that's how I met my teacher. And so she, so Nagakanya fully, I believe guided me because she appeared in my life at that time, uh, months earlier and guided me. I just, it was a journey. I had to, I had to figure it out to, to find him.

and to be connected to him. And so then we were connected and over FaceTime. And then he asked me, you know, do I have a Nagakanya statue or any Naga statues? And I told him I did. And then he shared with me how to set up my altar to honor her and them. And then we spoke for almost an hour. And then at the end, he said, okay, you know, we'll work with you. But you need to learn how to work with, you need to begin with working with elementals first.

So that's my story with the Nagas, which I wanted to share. Well, how I met my teacher in Nagakanya first. I can't even remember what you asked. Yeah, no, that's amazing. And I do want to talk later too about how people can connect with them. And it sounds like you do it also, or you start at least through the elements. But what do the Nagas symbolize spiritually? Are they protectors, divine beings, saviors?

Something else, I was reading that some are considered deities or nature spirits or ancestors of humanity. So in your own words and your experience with them, what do they symbolize and represent? Okay, so for me, for sure, Nagakanya is definitely my Ishtadeva. She's my tutelary helping spirit. And so when I, well, I'll tell you how I work with her after, but what they represent is they are wisdom keepers. They are protectors of the land, of nature, of our waterways, particularly, but also of the earth.

And there are different classifications of nuggas as well. There's four main classifications and they do include more sort of wrathful ones that can be associated with storms, thunder, lightning, things like this. Then we have ones that are totally associated with helping humanity. And so actually I'm just going to refer to my notes. So we have the sacred protector nuggas.

And they're the ones who honestly, who really do look over the sources of water. And so if we do pollute the waterways, often things can manifest in humans like disease, you know, skin irritations, things like this, if we're not aware and doing potentially making offerings or rituals or things like this. Then we have the divine nagas. So that's like a next stage.

level and they're the ones that help us all work with them transform ourselves doing our inner work so naga kanya again will fall into this area because she's a being that i work with for not just protection but guidance and to help me you know really doing honestly my my own inner work and um in a in a in a from a place of love you know it's very supporting and and then we have

And then we have superior divine Nagas, and those are ones like in the Hindu mythology, beings like Vasuki, who are associated with Shiva or Vishnu. People that might be familiar with that iconography may have seen Vishnu in the reclining chair that's made of snakes.

And, you know, those are definitely divine beings. So they are the ones that are in the cosmos who are imparting wisdom and knowledge down to Earth through the different levels of being, through the different lokas. So we have the upper loka, the middle loka. We have the lower loka in the water. So the naga loka is in the water, is deep in the water where the nagas reside. But then you can even have realms between those realms of existence.

you know, that are sort of these liminal spaces, if you will. Okay. And then how are they perceived, like, I guess, in modern practices? How do they fit in with our modern spiritual practices and beliefs? You know, that's a trickier question to answer. Only because Nuggas, I believe, make themselves known to people when they're ready.

And because you, and I believe that just from my own experience, I was ready to have her reveal herself to me and guide me so that I could be taken on the path I am on today.

And that was at a time when I was ready. I also, from other friends of mine that have had shared experiences with the Nagas, it seems like that was a similar thing for them as well. And I can also reflect back on my life and say, okay, when I was living in Bangkok, wow, there's tons of Nagas there. Every single temple has snakes on them. Snake iconography, serpent iconography, whether it's in the form of actual serpents or dragons.

and they're all over the place. And those are predominantly Buddhist temples. They're not Hindu temples. And they're covered in mirrors and, you know, all kinds of stuff. And they're beautiful. There's also a mythology of a serpent that lives in the river that comes up and once you see this, it's actually this phenomenon of this light that comes out that can be witnessed by the human eye.

And it's their worship there as divine beings. But it's, you know, I think in more modern times, this notion of activating the Kundalini from the yogic tradition is something that's, you know, and I almost feel like that's misinformation. We're not saying it's...

No one's naming that as the Nagas. But what's, I think, confused around that, at least in what I've learned from my teacher, is because we do, within our bodies, energetically, we have the central channel. And the central channel moves up and down the body, the Pangala, we have the Nadis and the Sushumna Nadi. And so when that energy is moving up and down, we're actually calling upon

in my practice at least, we're calling upon these energetic activations for support of the naga so that we can move this, really utilize this ancient wisdom to expand ourselves. And you mentioned ancestors, so we have ancestral wisdom that can come through, awakening of ancestral wisdom as well. But it's also, there is for sure this aspect of ourselves where there is the coil energy that needs to be awakened. But I...

again in my experience i i don't name that as um as naga energy per se so while it's in that coiled form i think it's easy to describe that as a serpent because when serpents are sleeping they coil around themselves right they coil up and then they awaken but what but what um

one way that we can be working with them to harmonize. You know, there's so much destruction happening on the planet right now. They are unseen beings, but there are real serpents, real snakes that live in the forest, that live around us. You know, we do pollute, we do chop down trees as humans. These are the things that we're doing almost on a daily basis.

And those are, you know, we, if we can just, if you have to remove a tree for whatever reason, maybe it's too close to your house, uh, there's ways to make an offering to actually, to, to connect to the spirit firstly of the tree and explain what is happening and that there's potential to relocate or, uh,

Bless the tree so that saplings, when it is removed, can actually regrow in another position somewhere else. And then you can ask for the support through the Nagas to help this being, to help the unseen being of the tree, the tree spirit, I guess,

Because it's painful, actually, when a tree, when you can hear that, when you can hear the tree suffering from being cut, right? So it's a way to almost appease the spirit of the tree and the nuggers. I'm looking out to my forest when I say this. I'm looking literally out to a forest full of trees and try to just...

offer them some sort of peace and explaining what is happening, which is very difficult to do. And a lot of people don't have that practice where they connect with nature or unseen beings and even understand how to do this. And we do have a lot of practices in the Kastanapalli tradition. There's a lot of practices to do this, to connect the nuggets, to connect the elements, to connect to nature spirits.

And I've seen it in Nepal. I've actually experienced in Nepal in a village where, so several years ago, there was a huge earthquake in Nepal. This particular village has been rebuilding itself. And they constructed a building on a site that some significant damage had occurred and they hadn't healed that land space yet. And all of the people in the village were getting sick. They were getting affected by this.

And so while I was there, these shamans were in, you know, my teacher, I was there with him, we were doing ritual work and he had invited these other shamans. And while they were there, a villager had come and said, is there any way you can help us tune into the nuggets here and help us explain what's happening? And they did, and they did a ritual for the villagers. And then they also gave them some remedies to do. And the remedies were very specific offerings that they,

you know, they needed to gather up and then present to the Nuggas. And so, you know, when we are living in the Western world, it's very easy to just,

dismiss these things, these ancient practices that have been around for so long that are very much a part of other cultures in other parts of the world and say, "Oh, well, I don't live in a village in the Himalayas and the mountains, so why would I need to do that?" But if you look around in a city like say New York City or whatever, any city you're living in that's just predominantly concrete, once there were trees there and grass and plants and animals and all kinds of things, the spirits of those creatures are still there.

They're just underneath everything or around, you know, and we can feel them. If you're a highly sensitive person, I can't live in New York City anymore. You can feel the energy. It's so kinetic. And then you've got Wi-Fi and cars and trains and all this other stuff, right, and millions of humans. So there's ways that we can...

from a place of reciprocity, really do simple offerings, even if it's through grains of rice, even if it's through very simple, like bananas. The Nagas love lapis lazuli. They love, you know, that's a known gem that they love. You could get a tiny little tumbled stone lapis from a crystal store and create a little simple, beautiful off bowl that maybe, you know, they're also very specific colors that we work with, blue.

yellow, white, green, and red. They also represent the elements. And so you could have a simple bowl where you place some grains of rice, maybe lapis or some other stones. In my opinion, they love rubies and lapis.

sorry, Labradorites as well. And they love pearls. You don't have to go off and buy expensive gems though, you know, but they do really love to be, to receive these offerings. And then also yellow flowers. So you could get some dried calendula flowers that you can buy as tea and you don't have to drink it. You can just put the petals, you know, in the same bowl and you can change that out every day and you can just hold flowers

a blessing for the Nagas. May they bless all of the unseen beings of the land if you live in an apartment in the city. That's a really simple way that we can bring the awareness of the Nagas and their presence into our lives in a really simple way without even having to know really anything about them. My practice is really esoteric and gets out of it.

And so these are things like you mentioned about the trees, but and also these offerings, but why would people want to connect or communicate with them? You know, what I was hearing also when you were talking and I didn't want to interrupt, but it's, it's like, he's also thinking about simple things that we do vegetables that we eat that are raw, that haven't been cooked meat that we eat.

There's a reason why there's prayer over these things in terms of gratitude and during mealtime, blessing our water or asking the water to be charged with chi or energy and vibrations and frequencies that are for our best and highest good. These are all to your point.

things that we don't necessarily think about as much in the Western culture because we don't have as much history and culture or we've colonized and we've taken that away. So I share all this because if people are or are not drawn to the Nagas, what are the reasons that they should consider connecting or working with them? You know, I'm going to answer that in two parts. I'm going to go back to before I was introduced to the Nagas when I had no awareness of them.

And at that time, if somebody had suggested to me, hey, maybe, you know, I'm into this practice. Maybe you want to, have you thought about, you know,

blessing the land where you live. I think I would have been receptive to it just because I really care about nature and I really care about my environment and I could already tune in to things. So I think if someone's never heard of the Nagas and you're introduced to them, just the fact that if you have pets, you already love animals. They're all around us. If you walk your dog and you're taking your dog to the park, you're standing in an environment that's got

life there, you know? And so why not take that opportunity to just explore something, you know, that's, it actually brings meaning into your life. I believe when you, when you have this respect for it, you don't have to see them or know them, but when you, when you can respect nature, there's, there's another level of meaning that's brought into your life.

So, uh, so I just want to share that first answer with that way from the perspective of before I was introduced to them. Now that I totally am familiar with them and I work with them, uh, on almost a weekly basis, it's just changed my life. I mean, it has literally changed my life. Like I'm

And I can't even imagine, you know, and now of course I retrospectively realize, oh my gosh, they've been in my life my whole life. I just had no idea. And it's like, you know, why wouldn't you want to invite them in? Why wouldn't you want to have the support? Because when we do this, what happens in our inner world, within our body, when we start to, they offer you the support of your own inner expansions.

your own inner like divinity and connect you to all that is expand your inner awareness to literally all that is so all life all you know whether it's nature beings or whatever it's like all everything we're all connected and so that's what uh my connection and my understanding and and you know since i've been introduced to the nagas that that's what they've done for me

Thank you for that. The reason I asked is because you went straight to connecting with them. And so people may be at different stages. Obviously, I'm drawn to angels and I've been working with them since I was a child. You, like you said, they've been part of your whole life. You're drawn to working with them in terms of what that is for you.

for you and how that's changed your life. So I love that because there's so many different types of beings, like you said, the unseen, that we don't necessarily know they're here as a resource to help us and to be part of this experience that we're having both as a human and a spiritual experience. I want to make sure before we run out of time that we get to...

Yeah.

obviously they're probably not gatekeepers to it to some extent. They want to be able to share that wisdom with us. So what are the types of things that they have to offer for wisdom and or for us to learn from? Okay, so firstly, it's healing wisdom, right? So how can we heal ourselves as humanity? And how can we, when I say heal ourselves,

the wrongdoings right that reside within our bodies because we all carry that so we can look at that as ancestral trauma we can we carry but we also carry and they can awaken this ancestral wisdom that they bring forward within us and there's there are so many tools that when

I'm asking for support when I'm working with the Nagas. I'm fully asking, I'm inviting in this incredible wisdom and then it allows me to connect to my spirit guides and it gives me the ability to channel very clearly for my clients

and also see into the body and make these connections of how using this healing wisdom, where do I see in a person's body their layers of pain, sorrow, trauma, all of these things. How is it residing within the body? And then being able to move it through and invite in loving awareness to fill ourselves back up.

with that. And so that's, that is the healing wisdom that comes through really for me, it really awakened that in me and they help guide me when I work with my clients and it's really amplified that these abilities. And I feel like I'm harnessing that though. My, uh,

I don't want to say harnessing my gifts, harnessing energy and guidance from them that I'm definitely channeling through. Like they're really imparting. And there was a time when I wondered if they were a type of angelic being. I wondered if they were the little, not cherubs, but what are the other ones that have little wings, but they kind of have tails?

Oh, gosh. I know what you're talking about, but I'm blanking on it. Yes. Yeah, you know that. You totally know. And there was a time when I wondered, gosh, I wonder if they're related in any way. Because with Nagakanya, Nagakanya is really unique in that she's one of the only Nagas that has wings. So her parents are royal Nagas, Nagas.

Raja and Nagarani. And they also have these amazing gems that they hold in their mouths. And they also carry a conch shell that represents wisdom, our ancient wisdom. And you may also see that in the iconography with the Buddha as well. So this primordial wisdom is represented by the holding of the conch shell.

And so Nagakanya is this royal virgin deity. And she has these wings which give her the ability to soar and fly through all of the lokas, all of the realms. And so when we work with her, she can really help take us to these other dimensions of ourselves, but also when we work with others.

our people, with our clients, she can help us look into and see how does this person need to be supported, you know, in the right way for their highest good, you know, seraphim. That's what they are. Thank you. Thank you. Yes. That would have been bugging me the rest of the time we were together. Yeah. And so I really, I wondered, oh gosh, because there really feels like an angelic quality to her in particular. And I just want to say that the Nagas, while they're

a serpentine being. They're not scary. Anyone that's grown up in a really, you know, sort of devout Catholic environment, there's that notion of the snake that's, you know, from the Garden of Eden, that's bad. But actually I believe that there's, that was wisdom and knowledge that was actually being given and was misinformation that was sort of, you know, for various reasons was withheld around us.

really the knowledge and the symbology of the serpent. So I have never been afraid of any of the Nagas. When I'm walking through my forest, sometimes I do it barefoot and I see snakes. I'm not afraid. When I was younger, I would go, but now I don't do that anymore. I totally trust. I know that they're not here to harm me. I see them there and I can chant the Naga mantras for protection. And they're just really an incredible experience

I don't want to say race, but they are definitely an incredible collective of divine beings. Yeah, what I was getting when you were talking too is one point when actually I was writing the book Looking for Angels and I was channeling and working with them,

They were explaining to me elementals and how fairies or nagas, I didn't know it was nagas necessarily at the time because I wasn't familiar with them. You're teaching me a lot here as we're having our conversation, but that there are any sort of living and or sentient being, whether it's a tree or a plant, water as well, which we don't necessarily think of it being sentient fire. The elements are, they do have sentience to them.

also have quote unquote guardian angels or angels. Now we may be very human in our definition of that, but I think you're onto something in that, you know, it's not necessarily angelic, but it's the divine. It's that life force source energy, right?

We can't see it all, but there's definitely these layers of things in between. Again, the dimensions, the realities and all of that. So I also want to get to a little bit too before we run out is, are there any sort of symbolism and things that you're drawn to sharing with the Nagas? We've talked about the serpentine quality, but with water or protection that you want to cover or share? Ooh, I mean, that's kind of...

Not sure, you know. Like how they would show up, you know, how people see repeating numbers and they're like, oh, it's my angels. Is there any sort of symbolism with the Nagas? You mentioned the snakes and nature, obviously, but anything else that people could be paying attention to? The gemstones with something? And it may not mean anything, and this question may not necessarily be relevant, but is there any symbology or symbolism? I mean, that is...

a kind of a difficult question to answer only because again, I'm trying to think before I was introduced to Naga, like actually introduced Naga from the story I shared. I don't recall, you know, seeing snakes or having anything of that nature reveal itself to me. I have a friend who actually was seeing a lot of snakes and would illustrate them and was constantly drawing them.

in really beautiful ways. And she shared them with me. And I said, wow, like, I feel like the Nagas are really trying to get in touch with you. And so I, when I was in India last, when saw her, I actually, we sat on a bank, a river bank up, up in the mountains and the Himalayas. And, and I would do, I did the chanting and the offerings and brought a lot of like some of the things with me for the eight, the eight main, um, Ashtanagas that we would work with, uh, in, in nature. And, and so you would also use this, uh,

This is the mudra for Earth, Bhumi. This is the Bhumi mantra. Really what I would say is if you can connect, if you really want to try to connect with the Nagas and invite them into your life, try to spend as much time in nature.

on the earth, firstly, because even though they reside below the surface of the earth in the water, there's ways that we can, you know, maybe bring some seeds to offer the birds, making sure everything is organic. Some bird seeds you buy at like a hardware store have all kinds of stuff on them, you know, to keep other animals away from eating them, you know, to

chilly weird stuff things um but also the nuggets really love uh offerings like milk so not cow's milk but rice milk so you could take white rice and grain grind it up in a mortar and pestle into a powder and then add water and mix it up every year um in the summertime there's a festival called nagpantami and that's when we do offerings i do them i do it over

Zoom with my teacher. It's a massive festival in Nepal. It's huge. Even parts of India, they celebrate it. And really, this is an opportunity to honor and offer. So things like turmeric, they love gold. So, you know, marigold flowers, you know, the calendula flowers, but really turmeric is

powder or you know you could use fresh turmeric if you wanted to uh these are offerings but definitely the milk uh you could even boil cook rice and then add turmeric to it like that is an offering as long as you're in an area where you're not going to be attracting the animals you don't want to attract uh but you can also leave them out for the animals i often do that i'm i live on my properties on 10 acres and i will often take things and into the forest and leave them for you know for the animals and and and so on but um

But it's, uh, and then there's other, what else do we use? Very specific types of incense, uh, is used as well. Uh, but again, you can also use the gems and you can, you know, sort of attune, attune to the magasin in that way. Uh, and just having this holding in, in, in your heart, this idea, this, you know,

a blessing and gratitude for the healing and the wisdom that they have, that they're really the guardians of the planet, the guardians of our world is how I see them.

I love that. Now, I do have a question I've been wanting to ask. I don't know where to work this in, so we're going to do it at the end here. Do you think there's any connection to real historical cultural figures or even lost civilizations with the Nagas? Yeah, I mean, yes. I think in the Aztec tradition, I think they're for sure are...

ancient serpentine beings. And in fact, they're in the iconography. You know, you can see them sometimes. Some archaeologists look at them as dragon or sort of bird-like creatures. Mm-hmm.

But they're serpents. I think they're serpentines. I mean, even down in Chichen Itza on the temple, there's huge snakes that, you know, come down on either side on that step pyramid, you know, that's quite famous. So I think for sure, I think the serpents in Native American traditions are also very prevalent.

prevalent definitely in the Hindu tradition. I mean, there's the story of the churning of milk. I was told this wonderful story. So if no one knows that story of the churning of milk, it's essentially a creation story in the Hindu tradition of, it's a story of good forces versus evil forces. But Vishnu takes Vasuki from Shiva's neck and turns him into this staff that

churns this poison from the ocean of milk. And at one point it becomes so toxic that Shiva has to then literally suck out the poison and he becomes blue as a result of that. And so I'm telling a story not perfect,

perfectly accurately, but that's the general sort of the gist of it. But there's also a wonderful story that I was told. What's the lesson for that though? So the lesson for that is that, okay, so there were gifts that were presented to humanity that came from that. There were three goddesses. I know Lakshmi was one of them. So within her gifts, there's abundance,

but not just wealth, not just monetary abundance. Then there was elephants that I think that I believe came from this. There was another animal, the cow, the sacred cow. So there was a sacred cow that manifested and that's why cows are sacred in India, in the Hindu tradition. And so the cow was...

the gifts of the cow are butter, ghee, right? And so ghee is actually a product that's used as an offering to the Nagas, but also in a lot of rituals. And so that's a gift. But the lessons are these humanity, these gifts for humanity that I believe that we really need to respect and live in harmony, that it's not about...

taking you know we can't just take and so what happened in this this mythology story is that they were trying to the asuras the these demons were trying to to take this nectar the nectar of immortality and they didn't they weren't able to it was they were trying to poison it essentially so i'd look at that as this interpretation of when we're doing when we're trying to take

from humanity, you know, it's not going to, it's not going to go well. Someone's always going to step in and a higher power is going to step in and, you know, show, share these gifts and say, Hey, look, we have this other way to do things. There's another way to move forward. We can share these gifts. And in the, in one of the stories, it

It's not exactly in this story, but there's another one that has to do with the Amrita where the Amrita fell to the earth and the snakes who knew that it was the serpents, the Nagas, who knew that it was this Amrita of immortality, licked it off the kusha grass and the grass was quite sharp and it's how they got the fork in the tongue.

And that they have this ability to, even though some snakes are venomous, actual snakes that are in the human realm, they have this healing power. Not the snakes that are existing here, but the divine beings have this ability to help heal us because of the nature of immortality. Well, also those snakes do have healing ability too. Yeah. Yeah.

There's stuff that, you know, for medicine and other things. So that's a whole nother conversation for another day. Okay. Well, thank you so much. We're nearly out of time. So before we end, I do want to ask you the question, what does psychic mean to you? What does psychic mean to me? Gosh, having access to other realms, you know, other beings living outside of ourselves and

That's a sense. It's like it's a sense, you know, and it is the sixth sense. And when you can step into that and activate your sixth sense, which is there within every one of us, it's just dormant in so many people. You're not aware yet.

But when you give yourself permission to tune into that, you can really tap into your psychic senses and live life from a whole other perspective. Yes, it's true. It's true. Well, I appreciate you sharing all of the experiences that you've had and the learnings and the knowledge about Nagas.

Is there anything that the Nagas want to share with us before we end? To really trust the ancient wisdom that is wanting to come through at this time. And it's coming through in different ways, not just through the Nagas, but this disruption of what we're being shown now in terms of almost these sort of cataclysmic-like weather events. And so there's a reason there's been this huge disruption. We're being shown quite literally,

what we need to be doing. And so those of us that are ready to attune to this ancient wisdom and knowledge have the ability to help hold and guide others to reawaken. And so that's the message that's coming through from them, that they really would love people to just

Trust, be aware, see what's going on and really take notice of that. And then awaken your spiritual gifts. Yes, no, I love that. And I'm going to have some fun with connecting with them, the land that I am now living on and have an opportunity to connect with them. Or what's the best way for people to reach you? How can they connect with you and get in touch with you? So through my website,

which is tatianawright.com and also on Instagram. That's the conscious diva. So that's the underscore conscious underscore diva. And those are the best ways to get a hold of me. And yeah, that's...

And you have a podcast. I do have a podcast. I was on your podcast. Yes, it was awesome. I'll have to link to the episode. Yes, and my podcast is The Conscious Diva Podcast as well. Yeah, and then I have a website that goes with that too, theconsciousdiva.com. But yeah. So be sure to include all of that. Well, thank you so much for coming on.
