FOGGIA - Surgical activity will begin next Tuesday in the new operating department of the Foggia Polyclinic, which is located in the former pediatric complex of the university hospital. There are eight operating rooms: four on the first floor, reserved for Neurosurgery, Orthopedics and Otolaryngology operations, and the same number on the second floor for General Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Thoracic Surgery.

Before opening to the public, the president of the Puglia Region Michele Emiliano carried out an inspection together with the director of the Foggia Polyclinic Giuseppe Pasqualone. «This is a real revolution - said Emiliano - we are investing a lot here: when I became president of the Region, the Foggia hospital was not a polyclinic. Today this brand new operating department joins the reconstruction operations of the old Polyclinic area which will be demolished, and will serve to overcome the shortage of current operating rooms".

Another good news - added Emiliano - is that the general director has decided to start Cardiac Surgery, which had been pending for years, in this wing of the Polyclinic. Obviously it's not easy, but this province absolutely had the right to do so. The operations were performed either in other hospitals in Puglia, or outside the region. This cardiac surgery will be added to that of the Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza in San Giovanni Rotondo, also activated by my administration. It's a great satisfaction that we've gained."
