Modugno is the international capital of race walking with the first European-level test of a new race, the marathon distance walking relay, which will debut at the Paris Olympics. Puglia was not chosen by chance for this test. The two champions from Puglia, gold in Tokyo 2021, Massimo Stano and Antonella Palmisano, dominated the test, together with the Chinese couple, with the world record holder Yang Jiayu and the Italian champion, Francesco Fortunato from Andria. A particular race, with 40 minute breaks for pairs of athletes between one fraction and another, important for evaluating the physical response of the athletes.
