pop culture voicemail segment talking about your takes right now and takes you want our opinion on. And we have a great game of trivia. So let's get into it all. All right, we're going to get into some pop culture related voicemails people called in with their hot takes things they want our opinion on old stories, new stories. So let's dive into it and see what our listeners have to say about the world of pop culture right now. Noah, why don't you kick us off? Hey,
Hey, every friend. This is Maddie from Columbus, Ohio. I just wanted to ask if you guys had a take on this, but where have the Kardashians been? I feel like we haven't seen anything from them. I mean, I know the Hulu show isn't running right now. And I feel like with that, we get a little bit of glimpse, but it's stuff that's happened like six months to a year ago. So it's kind of kind of over it. But I feel like even their social media presence just hasn't really been there. So I wonder if you guys had a take on that. Love you guys. Talk to you.
Love you too. Thank you. Great question. I have my answer because I literally just thought about this two days ago when I saw Kim Kardashian on... At the Oscars thing? Or whatever, as Academy of Music? What was it? Well, there was one for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and then there was another one that was a different night, which had me confused. But she was on the red carpet and I thought to myself, huh, haven't seen Kim in a while. I don't want to get too conspiracy theorist, but...
When all this diddy news broke, there was a lot of rumblings about the Kardashians. And now I don't know if there's any correlation here. I don't know what's going on, but they have been pretty quiet. Yeah.
I'm honestly terrified to mention anybody's names. I almost feel like we have to speak in code when talking about that whole situation. It's all a very... I'm not saying that they're a part... I'm just saying that people immediately, when this came out, started throwing their names in the mix. It was almost immediate. And jumping on the conspiracy thing completely. Once again, it's all total conspiracy. But did you see all the comments on Kim's video? Because when she posted the outfit...
the Mugler like the full like fit and everything the song was a Beyonce song and it was Halo Halo
And all the comments are like, this is your way of taking Beyonce. If you don't know right now, a very brief description of this conspiracy that's running around is that there's, everyone's noting like celebrities at certain points or different times in the past years that they've like won awards or had speeches where they've always like kind of gone out of their way to mention Beyonce. And they think people think that there's something sus going on with that. Yeah. And,
So now anytime Beyonce is mentioned by anyone, all the comments are like, "Thank you Beyonce." Or everybody's like, "Yes, this is me thanking Beyonce. "I don't wanna get in trouble either. "Thank you Beyonce." And Kim posted the song with the Beyonce song. - Right. - Posted the video with the Beyonce song. All the comments are like, "Thank you Beyonce, thank you Beyonce." - I didn't include this voicemail because I was a little sensitive. It's what you're talking about. But someone was saying there's a rumor now going around that Kanye actually was saving Taylor Swift
Noah, I saw the same exact videos, which is just insane. Kanye West... That one's not going to get me. No, me either. Kanye West is a piece of shit. So I'm not going to sit here and act like Kanye West was saving Taylor or anybody by getting on that stage. I think...
I think Kanye West was saving himself from Beyonce, if anything. I don't think he was saving Taylor. I think, if anything, he's getting up there and doing what everybody else is doing, if it flows into that conspiracy, that he now has to thank Beyonce as well and say how good Beyonce is. How would that be saving Taylor? That's saving himself for Beyonce. I think the...
Honestly, I think the Kanye of it all has a lot to do with the Kardashians as well. Maybe not all the rest of them, but specifically with Kim. I just feel like things have been more quiet with Kim. And I have seen articles of like, oh, Kim's really taking on that parent role like 100%. Kanye's not around that much. I would just imagine when Kanye's in the news every single day for some...
thing or like him and his wife, him and his air quotes wife are married, not married, divorced, broken up. He wants to sleep with his wife's mom. He wants to, they're, they're wearing, they're wearing clothes. They're wearing no clothes. Like all that is like just so loud and messy that I feel like you're, you're probably wearing clothes. They're wearing, they're wearing no clothes. I mean, you know, sometimes they're clothes. Sometimes they got no clothes on. You never, you never know what you're going to get. And,
And I could see Kim just wanting to not be a part of any –
any part of that narrative at all that it's just like things have been a little bit more quiet. I mean, granted, Northwest just had a full fucking cover story, so she's been seen the most. Kendall and Kylie, I feel like this is their dream, like to live their life and not have chaos happening at all times or like crazy news stories happening at all times. Like they're just...
doing their thing they show up they look pretty they live their life like they like still are doing their jobs like kendall is doing her job kylie's closing fashion shows too like they're you know they're doing big things and i feel like that when they're not when something loud isn't happening around the family this is when they're like the most the most thrilled
I feel like out of all of them. Chris, well, I think Chris posts on her Instagram. She posted for Kim's birthday. Chris could be taking it slow too. I mean, the whole last, like parts of the last season of the show was, you know, Chris kind of, there was some health concerns, you know, so maybe she's...
raining it in a little yeah raining it in at a suspicious time yeah exactly no it's that's that's you're not wrong about that yeah i mean i don't i don't know for sure it's all but i mean they've been quiet for months it's all alleged so yeah who knows but much to think about yeah courtney's been in some lawsuits too sorry just to yeah so i feel like there's just maybe they're just chilling you know
Hi, Rhi and Fran. Love your show. I know you guys talked about it for a brief moment, but when Wicked comes out, do you guys think it's going to be another Taylor Swift era where there's going to be people belting out her songs, clapping and cheering? Personally, I hope it's not, just so we can hear Ari and Cynthia do their vocals. But what would you guys do if someone started singing in the theater? Okay, thanks, guys. Love you. It's inevitable. If you are going to see Wicked...
on opening weekend at like a popular time, the theater is gonna be packed and people will be singing. There's just no way. It's gonna be annoying. It's gonna be annoying. But there's just no way, even if people are kind of singing under their breath, their noise will be coming out of their mouths. And honestly,
I could fall in that trap. Like in the moment. Like in the moment, I could catch myself being like, dancing through life. And then be like, oh, shush. You know, telling myself to shush. But sometimes it just comes over you. Right. Sometimes when the music hits your body and hits your soul, it's hard to maintain. But I'm on the side of our lovely caller here. I would personally not enjoy that at all. I want to hear the vocals of...
Ariana and Cynthia I do not want to hear the vocals of other people and I and I know people don't want to hear the vocals of me yeah you know what I mean so I I just yeah let's just let let's let the professionals do it if you're gonna sing I'm gonna sing right right you fucking sing you're gonna hear this tone deaf cat right
We're going to have a full battle. And Olivia Archer going out too. People are going to probably do the same thing. Yeah, no, 100%. Well, concert movies, that's tough. It's only songs. But I feel like movie theaters should do... Like how Disney Channel would have sing-along high school musicals where they would put the lyrics on the screen. They should have specific...
sing-along screenings like specific sing-along times where it's like hey if you want to go to AMC 34th Street at 6pm it's a sing-along version. Bell your freaking little hearts out. If you want to go at 7 it's a shh
It's a quiet viewing. Totally agree. It's like 3D versus non-3D. Give us both options. Sing-along versus not sing-along. Make it a full-blown sing-along theater. Yes. And if you go to the non-sing-along and you sing, you get pulled out. Exactly. You get escorted out of the theater. You get...
Yanked. Right. No popcorn. No cherry cola. No. Nothing. You're out. I think that's actually a great idea. It's really a good idea. That they should be thinking about because the musicals these days, everybody just wants to sing their little hearts out when they go into theaters. Nicole Kidman should call you up. Yeah. I got all the ideas, AMC, but I feel like that would actually be a great idea.
And everybody that wants to like get up in their chair and sing and make it a full experience. Go to the sing-along version. Right. And we do not want to see you in the one where we're just going to be sitting there. No. Because there's definitely, there's going to be so many videos of people going and opening weekend. And some girl fucking jumps up on her seat and starts singing. And everyone's like, get!
And she's painted green. Yeah, yeah. Exactly. Reel it in. Right. She's in a bubble. Right. It's a whole thing. It's a whole thing. She's in a full bubble. The pink gown. The whole thing. Oh, you know what? That's going to be a popular Halloween costume this year, I bet. Oh, 100%. You know, Halloween's around the corner. When does the movie come out? One month from today. Thanksgiving. But I do feel like- If it had come out this month, it probably would have been more, so.
Yeah, but I think people are gearing up for it. A lot of theater kids will be... November, I think it's literally, I saw the tweets, one month countdown today, November 22nd. Yeah.
So right around the corner. It is. Get your vocals ready. Very excited. Very exciting. All right, let's play the next one. Just because you're talking about singing. I just thought this one was funny. Oh, hi, Rianne Fran. First off, love you guys. My hot take that I get a ton of shit for, but I firmly believe is that Jason Derulo is the best male vocalist of our generation. His reach, his range. I genuinely believe that. So I would love to hear your opinions on that. Thanks.
Honestly, I love this take for you. I have no strong opinions to be like, holy shit, you're so wrong. Jason Derulo is extremely talented. Best male vocalist of our generation? I don't know, but he's good. Right. I'm not going to be on the front lines of the fight of that Jason Derulo is the best vocalist of our generation, male vocalist. No. But,
But if you're going to go with a hot take, like if you're going to pick somebody that's going to rattle some feathers. And if you want to like... Ruffle some feathers. If you want to start that parade and, you know, march down the street with it, I will...
stand about 10 people behind you 100 you know and i'll support you with that take because i feel like that is hilarious and also you're i can i can hear the passion in your voice the man does have reach the reach the range it's kind of like when t-pain people discover he doesn't know i was just going to say that if i was asked this and i had to pick like a hot take like some somebody that i had to choose that they were like oh it can't be like john legend like i'd be like i'm
T-Pain. T-Pain. Because people think he's just an auto-tuned guy. But really, he's so talented. He's got the range as well. He's got the reach and the range. He's got the reach and the range. The range and the reach. I will say when I went to the Super Bowl, there was a TikTok-sponsored pregame stage that was happening outside at one of the tailgates.
Jason Derulo was performing. Unfortunately, the crowd was not locked in as much as I'm sure Jason Derulo would want. If only she was there, she would have been screaming her head off. There were many times where my ears perked up because I was like, wow, he sounds great. I will play. Yeah, Jason Derulo fan club. Remember when you had him on and you asked him about his famous picture?
Yeah, falling down the stairs. Oh my God. No, not falling down the stairs. What did I ask about? The like bulge. Oh my God. We asked him that? Yeah. We used to be a little bit more bold. We got to get back to that. We have to get back to that. And he used to wear a sweatshirt on TikTok. Yeah. Damn, we asked him about his bulge? That doesn't sound like us. Did we interview him before the Met Gala meme?
No, that's been around forever, right? I know. Which is why I'm like, how did we not ask about that? I think that we might have. Yeah, yeah. But Noah only remembers us asking about his bulge. Well, no, because there was a time where I had tweeted. I was still running the social at that point. I think I tweeted that picture out from the chick's office. And every guy here would never stop giving me shit for it.
Yeah, yeah, well. I don't remember that, but that's funny. I do feel like it was, like, noteworthy enough that it had to be brought up. Yeah, everyone was talking about it. Like, it was hot at the time. Yeah, right. This girl might have it hung up in her house. Who knows? All right, let's move on. Hey, girls, it's Julia, and I think that the Dancing with the Stars franchise has not...
Take in full opportunities that can come to them, like the Bachelor Nation. Bachelor Nation, you have the Bachelor, then the Bachelorette, then Bachelor in Paradise. We have Golden Bachelor. They should have a golden Dancing with the Stars with all the old people so that it's fair for all the young folks. This past season, Reggie and Eric, they just weren't at the same standard as...
the rest of the cast members. So true. They should also do dancing with regular people. I would love...
to like have Val or Gleb as my coach maybe not Gleb that's a little far but maybe Val um this girl like kind of sounds like your sister what's his name Tasha Sasha both of them yes there's two you know I think that they're just missing out on an opportunity to build the franchise because we only get to see this for three months out of the whole year and it's just
It's very frustrating because there's so many different ways that they can go about it. So let me know your thoughts.
with normies. This is honestly, I love this take because number one, you're so right about the old people on the show. Yeah. They really don't get a fair shot because they're kind of getting good scores up until the middle where the judges are now like being real about the scores and they're like, all right, well, Reggie, you're getting a four because you don't got the moves. And of course he doesn't have the moves. He's about 50 years older than every other contestant. So it's going to be a little bit different. So I do, I do understand that. Do,
Do I personally think I would watch a Golden Dancing with the Stars? No. No.
You know, because I like the cute older people that get on Dancing with the Stars. The empath in me would really not be able to handle that, I don't think. You describe yourself as an empath? The empath in... I'm saying the empath in me gets pulled out when I'd be watching a show of all old people trying to dance. I'd cry the whole episode, every single time. Yeah, I just feel like...
I don't know if that's something I would watch. I will say... But it seems fair. I understand where she's coming from. I do kind of disagree that like... I just think that takes away a lot of just the competition element. I think there's a lot of people we wouldn't get to see for as long.
I don't know. Maybe they could do two seasons in a year and not just have it be in the fall and have it be... But they used to do that. And then I think they scaled it back a little bit because it was too much Dancing with the Stars. And I'm pretty sure they may have scaled it back. At one point, I think they were doing two seasons a year. And I feel like The Bachelor has now had to scale back because there's a point where they do too much. If you were to have...
If you were to put all the old people on one show, right? Then I guess you have all the people with dance background already who are coming in hot on a show altogether, which of course is interesting. But then that becomes more of like, so you think you can dance. People are already good. There's not as much...
I just feel like maybe there's not as much there. And you wouldn't see people get sent home that were so good, like so...
It's just a totally different show, obviously. It's a totally different concept. I know it is hard to watch when the older people are on and then they are sent home right away or they're trying so hard. But to be honest, I think that that's part of the lure of doing a show like this when you're of that age. You're like, oh, go on. It'll be fun. I'll be on for like three weeks. It's fun.
It's like I won't you know It's a taxing show for them to do If they were doing the show for you know Two months Right you don't have to be so fully committed I think that the Dancing with the Normies one Could be interesting because they could make it like a reality show Where they hold open auditions For people to the public And then they have to audition And then they take the top 12 of the people Auditioning They take the top 12 of the people audition And then you have the star Wouldn't it end up just being like
people who are actually really good dancers auditioning and then it's not really like, they're like, they're actual dancers. Once again, it's like another thing that's like, becomes so you think, like, then it's just like a ballroom, like just, it's a ballroom dance competition, which is not a bad thing. It would be like American Idol at the start of the show where it's like, you get the really bad people and then you get the really good people. Yeah, right, exactly. Or you could have the, the,
be that you're not that good and it's all about improving. Who improves? How could they not hustle you maybe? Yeah, who improves the most at the end? It's really just an audition for all the bad dancers. I could see this already like at the end of the season they like find old videos they're like he was always a dancer. Right, right, publicly. It's like love is blind everything comes out and they were like oh my god he did dance classes until he was 18. Right, right, right. Look at him in this ballroom dance competition in Miami in 2006. Yeah.
I could see that happening. Oh, man. All right, let's move on. Hi, Rhea. Hi, Fran. This is Grace from Indianapolis. First of all, I love your guys' show. Secondly, I am a huge Bravo girlie. Me and my sister both love the Real Housewives franchises and all that good stuff.
So I was wondering if any of you have seen the TikTok drama that I've seen on TikTok, the conspiracies about Mauricio and Dorit having an affair together. And that being one of the reasons that Kyle and Dorit have had a falling out. And one of the reasons why Dorit and PK are getting a divorce. So let me know if you've seen anything about that. And I would love to hear your opinion. I did not see this. But didn't I say this before?
At the end of the Beverly Hills season, I was like, it would be, if they really wanted to juice up the next season, then Dorit and Mauricio would have an affair. Or they would get together. Not an affair, but they would start dating. Yeah. Well, I think that at the time that Dorit and PK were still together. But I'm pretty sure I said that because it would ramp up ratings. Now, I don't know. I didn't see this on TikTok. I haven't seen why people think it. I can't say that there isn't...
like a lot of fat. Like there's nothing to back it up really. Like there's no evidence? No, it's just like pure speculation. Yeah, and I think people, it really also stems from fans thinking that Dorit has just always been
had like a crush on Mauricio. Like they just like to pull old clips and old moments where they're like, look at them. And I will say, I do think there has been, I do think they have been seen together.
Really? Yeah. I haven't seen any of this. And let me tell you, this would be insanity. Yeah. If Dorit and Mauricio were hooking up, this would be crazy. Yeah. This would be insane. All the articles like Mauricio and PK are still friendly. But then there was, oh, this was the picture that I saw.
Dorit and Marisa was spotted together today. Just this was just before she announced the separation. So this is months and months ago that they were. That's ringing a bell for me actually. And then this is like, yeah. And I think they've really helped like that. I see that picture reposted, reposted a lot. But, um,
That would be insane. Yeah. Now, if we're talking good television, if we're trying to ramp up the Sandoval ratings, then Mauricio and Dorit hooking up will... It won't be on that level, but it'll get people watching. I sneaky think Dorit would do it. You think so? Yeah. You know what? I don't doubt it. Yeah. And I just, one, don't put anything past these people anymore. And two...
I just, like I said, I fall in the same trap that all the people that are seeing these theories fall into where it's like, she has been like a little flirty with him in a friendship vibe. Like their little foursome like always seemed like they were all very close. And I never really bought into Dorit and PK. Right. So that is very interesting. Yeah, it is. Now,
I don't see anything coming from this. No. Like, because if it is true, they're going to fucking nip it in the bud right now. Like, they're not going to let this go any further and they're not going to let Kyle believe. But if we see the coming attractions for the next season of Beverly Hills and it's Kyle Richards sitting to read down to accuse her of hooking up with Mauricio, we're all locked in. Oh, well, it would be... They got us in right away to the next season. It would be absolutely insane. Yeah.
But even if she's just asking her, you know, and I think there's also there's also people that are just straight up rooting for it, that they're like, we think they'd be good together. Like, you know. Oh, man. Yeah. I don't know if I'm necessarily rooting for that. No, I know. I think that would be crazy. But for reality TV purposes, yes, I'm rooting for that to be shown on TV. At least a questioning, a line of questioning. Right. Because if it's out in the open, might as well.
Bring it in. Yep. Bring it in and make it a little storyline. Yep.
All right, moving on. Hi, Rhea and Fran. My name's Julie. And I was curious if you could put any three people of your choice on the traders, who would you pick? Absolutely love your show. Also a huge traders fan and hope you guys are doing well. Bye. Rhea, Fran and Noah. Good question. Yeah, it's a really good question. I'm trying to think of like reality TV people that
Maybe, okay, Devin from The Challenge. I think Devin from The Challenge would be really good. So he'll be my, he'll be one. And then I would maybe go, I'm trying to think of all the reality shows. Right, like picking like from different sectors. Live from Love Island. Yeah. So I would go Devin from The Challenge, Live from Love Island. Okay. And then I don't want to go double up on a reality show.
So maybe somebody from the Bachelor franchise or, hmm. I think I would go, if we're just going to pick formula of other people, of other shows, like Challenge, I think I would go Tori. Bachelor, I think I would go Greg Grippo. I think he would be good. And I think I'd maybe throw Paige on there, Summer House. Yeah, Paige would be good. Paige would be really good. Yeah, yeah.
So I think that would be my three. I still think Paige and Craig should do the show. I know that that like, I don't know if it's like they want couples necessarily doing it, but they've done, they've had couples like they did Marcus and Larsa. Yeah, that went over really well. Are they still together, by the way? Marcus and Larsa? No, I don't think so. I think they've had their 14th on off and I think they're off right now. I got to pick a third one. So Liv...
Devin. Devin would be really good. Maybe... You said Greg Grippo, Victoria Fuller. Yeah, right, right. I picked Victoria Fuller. Yeah, right. And then you put the two X's on the show. Make it a little messy. Yeah, yeah. Okay, I'm going to go with that one. Jerry, Golden Bachelor. Or Gary. Gary. I know. I think that there could be some good...
I feel like they've always kind of dabbled in maybe like retired athletes also a little or things like that. Like they've done boxers, but like someone in that realm, I think would be good too. No, it'd have to be somebody that's like retired. I think it's, yeah, yeah. More in that world. Tom Brady. No, I'm kidding. He probably would. Yeah, yeah. Like something more in that realm.
in that realm. All right, let's do two more. Yeah.
Last night, we went to the Rare Impact Fun Gala sponsored by Abercrombie, and I got to wear a beautiful, cute little dress from Abercrombie that I absolutely love. They always have the best things, and right now, they have the best transitional sweaters and outfitting that you can pair with anything. You want to wear baggy jeans. You want to wear the Sloan pant. Maybe you want to wear a mini skirt with a little jacket on top. There's so many options for this fall and winter upcoming with Abercrombie, and their sweaters are
are unbelievably soft. So many different stitching, different yarn, so many different options for the fabric and the cut and everything in between. So if you're looking for new sweaters to wear this fall and winter, look no further than Abercrombie. And of course, I loved my dress that I wore to the Rare Impact Fund Gala. So if you want to check that out, go for it. You can look at it on our pages. And there's new arrivals every single week at Abercrombie. So don't be afraid to shop online.
all the new arrivals at Abercrombie. My pop culture hot take is that Hannah from this season of Love is Blind is not the bad person she's being made out to be. Everyone is acting like she's such a mean girl. Can we talk about how that man could not even boil water for pasta? I swear to God, he asked her like spin questions, simply trying to boil water for pasta. And it's
If that is a reflection of any other moments in their relationship, I just can't imagine how annoying he must have been. She was resentful after a long enough period of time of him being annoying and she was mean to him and he deserved it. Okay, that's all. Love you, girl. Bye. Damn no, you want to comment back? You've been the world's biggest Hannah hater.
I think it's just maybe that's well there are some things where it's like yeah how do you not know that I know how to do that yeah that says a lot yeah but it's just the way she said it to him and like just the way she went about it no my thing with her is that I just feel like she didn't like him two days after they left the pods like it wasn't like she was so so like it wasn't like they had this amazing chemistry they were so good together and she started to learn all
his little things that he just couldn't do or like you're like okay this this guy's a child yeah and it was like a slow build it was like he was like that the whole time you know and I and every it just felt like every little thing even from the beginning I mean even from the first even from them in Mexico like like little things that he was doing that was really annoying her that is just like I think she knew very
way earlier that she was that it was not going to work like i just don't think she want even wanted it to when he was looking in the fridge for the pasta that was it i was like what yeah i watched i i caught up last night and when she said to him like i've turned you from a boy to a man like it's it really hasn't been that long enough for you to do so so i like you owe everything she like there was a way that
She could have maneuvered that where he just looked like the biggest idiot and she had like I just feel like the way she Handled it made her and I 100% get what also this this girl is saying is like she's frustrated as hell I would be too. It's probably not bringing out the best in your personality when you're dealing with something like that but it's just the condescending like
and the way she speaks in facts of like, well, I'm younger than you and I'm so much more mature. And I'm so much more emotionally... I'm so much more emotionally mature. I'm so much more developed. I'm so much more of a person. It's just the way she said it that you're like, ugh. It's really the worst kind of person to be. Right. Like, there's a way of being like, hey, I just... I think, like, you...
I think we're on, we're on different, we're in different stages. And I feel like I am maybe a little bit more emotionally mature. I feel like I'm ready for a relationship. I don't feel like you are. Instead, it's just like,
You're a kid. It's just snarky. Yeah, very talked down to. Hey, Rhi and Fran. It's Cameron from Chapin, South Carolina. Not an opinion, but more of a question for both of you. If you had to be a character in any show that you're watching right now, which would it be and why? I hope this makes it.
Thank you. Good question. I would pick somebody from Tell Me Lies because they're so bad. My first thought was not Tell Me Lies. Well, they're so bad and it's so opposite of my real life that it would be true acting. Then you'd have to endure everything they endure.
It's acting. Yeah. No, no, but like, I think I feel, I took that question. It's like, you are like, it's like real life. Like, yeah, you're like, you're the character of the show. You're not like, no, you're not acting. Oh, okay. Nevermind. Cause then I would understand. It's a great show. You want to like, play a role. I think it's like, if you wanted to actually be the character on the show. Oh, totally misunderstood the question. I was just talking about being casted in a role. Right. Um, please let me readjust my answer there. Um,
Okay, you go first because now I have to rethink about that. I do not want to be a dumb meal ice. I'm just thinking of the shows that I'm watching right now and honestly it's not a lot of scripted stuff. If you were one of those characters, maybe you could make them good. Right, I can change them. I'd maybe go Outer Banks, but then again I also don't...
want to be on the run all the time like the treasure hunt is exhausting like it's just and i just don't want to be like you're where they're just at amani all the time they're always in a bind yeah it's just not what i want to be maybe i would just pick um like one of the bitchy kooks right you just like you're rich and you just like go to the beach and you stop over turtles
You know what? Actually, I watched the first two episodes of Shrinking, Noah. I love Liz. Maybe I would like to be Liz. Wait, Liz is... Liz is the neighbor. Oh, yeah. She's funny. Yeah, I like her. I also think the daughter is cool. Yeah, yeah. I'm trying to think of what shows I'm watching right now. I have to go to our weekly watch report. Honestly, I'm thinking of even the stuff that I watch. Everything's been bad. Tell Me Lies, not gonna do that. I just started watching the Monsters. And I'm like,
Menendez brothers I'm watching Veep right now I do not want anything to do with politics Yeah right right It feels like that would be kind of a rush though During an election I don't know I guess also maybe there's Even if you just picked a reality show But then it's not necessarily a character Those are real people Oh Nobody wants this Maybe Like Her sister
But her sister doesn't seem that happy. What about her? Kristen Bell. Yeah, she seems happy. Or you could be a guy. Right, right. You want to be a rabbi? You could be the rabbi. She seems happy. Yeah, this is a good question. Yeah. Because if it could be like any TV show ever, then, you know. Right, right. I think I'm going with Liz from Shrinking. That's a good one. Yeah. Something that I'm currently watching. That is a good one. Gosh. Yeah.
uh the girl that got catfished sweet bobby sweet bob i could just be bobby he you know you can be you can be the mysterious cousin that didn't oh my god appear in the documentary the awful cousin gosh so many like hmm yeah this is such a a freaking i know if bridgerton was on right now i'd maybe go with one of the bridgertons right
Gosh, I'm going to be thinking about this for a long time. I mean, it's a good question because it's like from shows that you're watching right now. It's specific. It's specific. I love how I immediately was like, tell me lies. Yeah, yeah. That's why I said my first thought was like, not tell me lies. I don't want to be anybody on that show. I thought I was just getting casted in a role. No, if you were to like pick...
if the question was like hey pick a tv show that you would want to act like be on as and have your own character 100 that'd be a great show to be on be in the mix be one of the friends because you just you you you play a transfer student coming in for the for the spring semester fuck shit up yeah start dating one of the guys a little devious yeah yeah why not yep um
Maybe like Rafe's girlfriend in Outer Banks. Yeah. You know what I mean? She's getting money. She's not doing anything, but she sticks up for her. She's technically opposed. She sticks up for herself. Yeah. Although it seems like she's going to feel like it's not going to end well for her. She might die. She might be the character they kill off. I feel like it's not going to end well for her in that scenario. That was a fun question. Noah, who would you pick? That's tough. Yeah.
The Penguin? No, because then I'd be like the penguin. Yeah. I'm trying to think like anyone else on that show. Let me check my weekly watch report as well. I might be, honestly, I might be Jason Segel. Yeah, fucking. Out of all the things I'm watching right now. Or could I be Jason Tatum? I'm watching that show. Yeah.
honestly yeah we'll let you have that one we'll let you have that one buddy you're so far up Jason Tatum's asshole these days yeah you might as well just be him you know what good pick good pick um those voicemails were very fun I enjoyed that segment a ton I love hearing um everyone's hot takes and love you guys asking us our opinions on things you want to hear about so if you guys like this segment and want us to keep it going let us know um all right that wraps it up yep

So if you're headed into this weekend, you got some Halloween plans, you're dressing up, maybe you're hosting a party, maybe you're going to a party. If you're going to a party,
Cheers. Thank you guys so much. The world's most refreshing podcast. Yes.
Before we get into the interview, just a quick disclaimer that the first 50 seconds of this interview, the audio, there were some technical difficulties. But right after that, everything is back to normal. So stay tuned, stay with it and listen to this fantastic interview with Anna Kendrick. All right, everyone, we are here with a very special guest. We are joined by actress and director Anna Kendrick. Thank you so much for joining us. Thank you so much for having me.
We are so excited to have you here. First of all, congratulations, because the movie is number one on Netflix, Women of the Hour, which is, I mean, that's got to be the goal, right? When you know that you're going to have a movie come out on Netflix, it's like, let's get it to that top spot. Yeah, I know. I was really nervous because I know there was some cool stuff on the platform right now. So I was like, maybe just for one day. So now that we've had the whole weekend.
weekend. I'm so happy. I'm over the moon. Yeah, well, we've seen the movie. I watched it this weekend. Amazing job all around. Thank you. Really, really enjoyed it. I have to be completely honest, I did not know that this was a true story. And so, watching the whole thing, I was like, wow, amazing concept. I was like, wow.
I was locked in. I love it. And then at the end, I was like, holy shit, this is all real. And then I dove into it more and more, and it led me to researching all the cases, which I think is also very important coming from the film, too. It's like you learn about something that you didn't know prior, and then so much research comes from that. Yeah, no, I think that's really interesting. I mean, obviously, there's always going to be part of me that's like,
Oh man, I wish everybody watched it the way that you watched it. Just like go in totally cold. Because sometimes like I would tell a friend that I was working on the movie and then the next time I saw them they would be like, oh my god, I went, I like looked up all this stuff and I was reading all these articles and of course I'm like, no, just watch, just wait and watch the movie.
But the truth is, like, there's so much to this case. I mean, really, like, what's shown in the movie is a tiny, tiny fraction of what happened. And, you know, we're kind of doing composite characters sometimes because you're trying to sort of, like, you know, take the pieces that really, you know, felt emotional or powerful to you and put them in the... You know, it's complicated. But I think the thing that I also am happy about is that, like, you actually...
I would rather you didn't, but you could, like, do a bunch of research, and I think you wouldn't know what happens in the movie, you know, because, like, there's just so much stuff about all these awful things that happened. So, you know, the movie is 90 minutes, so it's just, you know, picking and choosing a couple of those kind of details. Right, and the way you do the timelines specifically
the different timelines in the movie does also help. Like somebody could redo all their research, they're reading it in chronological order. - Totally. - Of, okay, so this is what happens. As you're watching the movie, we don't know what happens to your character, right? And because it's jumping around, that could have--
Ended way differently. So, like, that's always so interesting when you're jumping around. Timeline-wise, when was the first time you were, you know, made familiar with even just this story? Yeah, I feel like I'd heard about this story. Like, I think it's kind of 50-50. People don't know anything about the story or they're like, oh, yeah, there was a guy. Yeah.
And he went on the dating game and he was a murderer. Like, and that's kind of what I knew. Like, that was the camp I was in. It was like I'd heard of it, but I couldn't really remember much about it. And mostly that's kind of the beginning and end of what people know is that, like, he went on the dating game. And that was really weird for him to do as he, like, was older.
on, you know, this crime spree that spanned more than a decade because nobody was... No one really gave a shit. It's your definition of a serial killer. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. So...
I knew a little bit about it and then like the script was just so much more emotional than I thought it would be. It was like kind of beautiful in a way. It was awful. It's horrifying. It's all these things. But it wasn't like, I don't know, like titillating. You know what I mean?
I mean, it was just like a gut punch is amazing. And look, you know, at the end of the day, like it is kind of undeniably like a fascinating true crime story. But yeah, I was just struck by like how emotionally powerful it was. And how did you want to go into attacking directing this movie while also starring in it? Because you're like...
These are real stories. But when something happened so long ago, it's almost easy to walk. Because now there's so many true crime documentaries, movies. And it's easy to get so fascinated and lost with it. But then you remember how serious and how real this was. Which, while watching the movie, I felt like... I was like, oh my gosh. After it ended, I'm like, wow. It really sat with me that this really... I can't believe this really happened. Yeah, it's awful. It's... I mean...
Yeah, I think, like, everybody that showed up to make the movie, like, truly from, like, everyone in the cast to every, like, member of the crew treated the material with a lot of reverence and dignity. And, like, we kind of, you know, we were together for a long time. So, you know, we had our own, like, little inside jokes and stuff. But then it was, like, well, when it was time to actually make the film, everyone was really serious about it. But...
It's funny because you're right. Like, oh, it happened a long time ago. But even like when I talk about it sometimes in press, like I can feel my body like getting hot. Like I get so angry because, you know, I think a big piece of the story is that like
law enforcement negligence and incompetence just let this go on for over a decade. So yeah, I think that like the injustice of it makes me want to like throw something at the TV, you know? But like, yeah, I think I was just really like grateful that everybody showed up and had so much respect for what we were trying to do. Yeah. How was it for you stepping into the director role? Um,
Yeah.
again, I'm not trying to be funny about this, but I felt like, well, at least the lead actress and the director are going to be on the same page. Like, it's kind of like one less thing for me to worry about. And also, like, I don't know. I've been acting on camera for 20 years. So, like, I am terrified about directing. I mean, absolutely shaking about it. But, like, acting? That's my job.
That's my job. You're a pro. Yeah. Like, you guys talk into microphones and you're probably pretty comfortable about it. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. No, but I feel like that's always, it's like you're always in charge of yourself and the job that you do. But it's like, yes, now you're in charge of yourself and making sure the other actors are all. Totally. No, I really was like, man, if someone else was playing my character, like, I'd have to, like, explain to them what I want.
and like what if they had a whole different idea and I have to be like...
But maybe I didn't have to negotiate. Yeah, because you also want to be a respectful director. Completely. You want to hear what your actors have to say. But you're just collaborating with your own brain, which is a huge, huge part of it. And yeah, I already think I'm right all the time. So we've got along great. It's a perfect combination. Well, everyone who's listening, it's The Woman of the Hour on Netflix. So please go watch that. We really, really enjoyed it. And the scene in which you're like,
you're noticing what's happening and you give him the wrong number. Yeah. Walking away. Like I was holding my breath. I was like, get out of there. It's like that, that perfect combination of like, she's going to make it, but I don't know. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's funny because, you know, uh,
There were there were definitely certain things that were like, well, we don't know what happened. Like, we basically know that Cheryl and Rodney, you know, they after the dating game ended, they had an interaction. And we know that the next day she called producers and said, like, make up an excuse for me. But we don't really know what happened in that.
So, you know, imagining that was like, well, it's also like not that hard to imagine because we've all had that moment of being in, whether it's a parking lot or a dark street or whatever, just going like,
is this guy just a creep or am I really in danger here? Absolutely. I thought it really speaks volumes to the story, too, of sending that message of, like, law enforcement really failed all these women and then what ends up getting him is, like, a teenage boy.
girl. Yeah. Like these adults and nobody could figure it out. And a teenage girl is the one that like was smart enough to bear in mind the situation. Like this. We're getting into a little spoiler. Yeah. But like, yeah, whatever. Whatever. That like they still
still let him go. Right, right, right. Over and over and over. They just let him go. And, like, you know, I did a lot of research and, you know, not with the intention of, like, making everything exactly how it happened, but, like, just I want to know everything. And, like...
Basically, a lot of the times he was just basically let go off of like vibes. Just vibes. Right. Yeah. I was just like, I don't know. He's got like a good vibe. I mean, it just it makes you it makes you want to scream. It's crazy. He's charming. Right. That's what the problem with serial killers. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's like then you see all these people that become obsessed with serial killers and like, well, they're good looking. It's like, well, what?
Like, what are we doing here? It's insane. But seriously, incredible job. Like, really just an amazing job directing and acting. And, you know, we've seen you talk recently. You are such an amazing comedy actress. Like, your comedic timing is impeccable. But you've talked about how you kind of wanted to step out of the comedy realm and a little bit more into some serious roles. How do you feel about that now? Well, I guess...
Yes, like it's not so much that I was like, I want to be taken seriously. It was actually like it was coming from a kind of genuine place. Like I got out of an abusive relationship and suddenly like the material I was responding to was really different. So, you know, it's like sometimes when you're really in a bad place, you're like, if I hear a happy song, I'm just going to claw my skin off, you know? So it was like I kind of had to lean into what,
Yeah.
You'd maybe be expecting a light musical romp. And that's not what I did. But I don't know. There's just something that feels like unfortunately not like unfamiliar territory for me and I would suspect for most women. Yeah. But I think that that is like what was so surprising.
cool about you directing a movie like this was kind of people are familiar with your work and your acting and there's probably people because there's nine million things on Netflix, right? When they're scrolling through Netflix they're like, oh this movie looks cool. Play. And then they don't know and then the first end slide comes up and it's like directed Anna Kendrick and they're like, whoa! That's so cool. You know, like that's like it's refreshing and new and maybe like not what everybody would
which is fun. No, I love it. It just reminded me that I, the day that it came out, which was only a couple days ago, I like, you know, wake up and I go on my Netflix to be like, oh my God,
Oh my God, like, is it gonna be like right there? And I had to like search for it. So I was like pissed, right? But then I realized like, oh, I have never watched an Anna Kendrick movie on Netflix. So like the algorithm, my algorithm is like, well, we don't know exactly what's going on with her taste, but we know that she fucking does not watch anything that that bitch Anna Kendrick is in.
So I was like, that's so funny. Because of course, like anything that I'm in ends up on Netflix. Like I like scroll away from it. Like it's a hot stove. Oh God, no, not my voice, not my face, anything but that. That is too funny. You know, on a more serious note, you mentioned being in an abusive relationship, which unfortunately a lot of women
can relate to. And I think that's why like someone like you who people look up to, they see, you know, people see glitz and glamour. They see you in a bunch of movies, but they also then hear about you talking about your experience and being so open and sitting here right now, even being like, I don't feel true to myself to be on a comedy set. Like that is really comforting for a lot of women to hear that. Like, you know what? It's okay to like, be like, I'm not in this mood right now. Yeah.
You know? No, that's so interesting. I mean, I remember when I kind of first talked about that, I couldn't believe like the number of women that kind of reached out to me that I was going, but you're so famous and successful and you're like such a boss. Like, and,
And I was totally doing that same thing of going like, but wait, but you're so like powerful and great. Like how, like, you know, it can really happen to anybody, which I think I hadn't fully internalized until it happens to you. And yeah, I think that I'm still like, there are times where I have like a really bad month, like not like a bad day. Like there are times where I have like a really bad month and I feel embarrassed
that I'm not like better or over or whatever. And I kind of know better than to do that, but you can't help it. It's like I wish there was kind of this like period of feeling uncomfortable
unstable or sad. And then I could like put a bow on it and be like, but now I'm better. And it's just I wish it was linear. And it's just not. It sucks. It's right. And it's so complex. And it's like you want to be able to be like, I'm OK. And what who was that last month? Like, I don't know that person. Like, I'm totally different now. But, you know, I'm sure people have told you in your personal life and just us watching you growing up, watching you. We think you're amazing. And I think it's incredible for you to be so open about
this because it really does help a lot of women, especially our age range, to hear someone like you and like you say when you talk to people who are so powerful, successful. It's like it really can happen to anybody and it fucking sucks, but we power through and it's also okay to not power through sometimes. Yeah, yeah. And I think it also shows too when you can...
And sometimes, you know, when you're going through stuff in your personal life, you can make professional choices that help you and are beneficial for you. Because I think sometimes, especially as women, we feel like we have to be like, yes, I'll do that. Yes, I'll do that. Yes, I'll do that. Yes, I'll do that. Sign me up. Whatever it is, I'll do it. And sometimes when you're going through things personally, you're like, God, this is the last thing that I want to do. And I hope it's okay if I say no.
And it is. And it is okay and it is really hard. It's okay that it's hard, I guess. I think even directing this movie or pitching myself to direct the movie even, it wasn't done in a...
Yeah, I'm gonna power through. It was a completely fearful endeavor for me. And that's okay. Even when I pitched myself, I was like, unless you guys think that's a bad idea. I just want to do whatever's right for the movie, but you guys let me know. Right, you have like a 30 slide PowerPoint at the end. It's like, but also,
But also whatever you guys want. - But no worries if not. - Totally cool. - No worries if not. - I won't be mad at all, I'll laugh. It'll be really funny. - No, I actually did a whole pitch where I kept, I was doing that push-pull thing, and they told me, "We think we're gonna hire you, but could you come in tomorrow and do that again like a confident person?" They made me do it again, but just be more like, "I'm the only woman for the job." Which was a total performance, and by the way,
there were people that were like not totally on board because of the way I was doing the pitch and then they were like alright we get it and I was like I'm faking it you literally know
that I'm faking it. This is a placebo effect and you're fine with the fact that it's a placebo. Whatever. You're a wonderful actress. That's what it comes down to at the end of the day. Just wonderful actress. You just mentioned that you were just on the set of Simple Favor 2, which I think we're all so excited about and I think people were waiting to hear the news about that and happy to hear it's really happening because I feel like for a little bit it was like, is this happening? That's how I felt. That's how I felt. I was like, are we, is this, oh,
Okay, I'll just wait. I'll just see what happens. Yeah, no, there was a period where I was like, I don't think that's gonna really happen. But yeah, we made it. And I know that like everybody, I feel like everybody says like, oh, the sequel's like crazier than the first one. But it's fucking crazy. And yeah, I feel like I can say that without
being like, well, they're going to find out I'm lying. It's madness. And yeah, the director, it's the same director as the first one, Paul Feig. And he, you know, he directed Bridesmaids. Yeah, he's amazing. He's amazing. And it is so funny because he's such a known comedy guy. But he's got some darkness in him.
darkness in there. Got some demons? There are times where I'm like, baby, what is this? Don't all the comedians do? Yeah. Like, what is this scene? Right. Yeah. That is true. The comedians got some demons. You guys filmed on location. We were in Italy. Yeah, I mean. Wow. Doesn't get better than that. I know. The world's tiniest violinist playing in Italy. Wow. That is incredible. I know. I saw that, that I was like, oh my God, dream. That's like, when they must be like, hey, by the way, we're going to, we're going to film in Italy. It's like, oh, okay. Oh.
I can't believe we're doing this one. A second one, really? A second one in Italy? Oh, that's awful. I was laughing because I just saw a clip of you joking about how sometimes certain sounds and things like that from your roles have been made into TikTok sounds. Oh, God. And the whole yearbook mom thing just really took off. I know. I made one to that. You did not. I did. Me and my fiance, I did. Shut up. So that's what I'm saying. How do you do that?
How do you think? Do you see it? In the wild. And you're like, wait, what? It's like such a jump scare. Because at first, because it takes you, that first time you hear it, it takes you just a second to go, oh.
I know this. And then go, oh God, that's my voice. That is so funny. You mentioned that when you're, you know, scrolling on streaming, you're like avoiding Anna Kendrick at all times. What's one movie you've done that you completely avoid that you just, you don't want to see it. You don't want to hear about it. Oh my God. Um, oh God, I don't know. Um, it's tough and it's tough because you've, maybe you've avoided it so much. It won't even come to you. Yeah. I guess like, uh,
I think I could think of like the one that doesn't bother me as trolls because it's not really me. Right, right, right. And like I think the music in it is really cute. Like I have not made an effort to seek it out and watch it again after like the premiere. But I think if it were like on in the background, I would be like, oh, because it's also like so many animators, hard work and all that stuff. And you're like, I barely did anything. I got in a booth a couple of times, you know, and I just had a blast. But I'm going to have to think about that one. Yeah, maybe all the other ones. Yeah.
We did a full, I mean, now it's like almost a year ago that we did it. I mean, time is flies. But we did a full Twilight rewatch for the show because we just had, we'd seen some of it and our producer had never seen them. So we were like, oh, this will be great. We'll all watch them. We'll talk about them. We did a full rewatch series. As I was walking in, someone just popped their hat, like a full bearded dude popped his hat out to be like, love you in Twilight. Like a little,
Like a little drive-by, like, let me run. And, yeah, I guess I am, like, it's really, like, in the last year, it's been, like, I'll just be on the street, and people will be, like, hey, are you that girl from Twilight? Which hasn't happened to me in, like, 15 years, because I, you know, there were other things that were then the thing. But you were the full star of, and... Yeah, and it's, like, what is, what, I'm, I'm,
I'm loving it. I just don't know where it came from. Why now? I don't know. It's a social media thing when all of the Gen Z finds new things. Okay, okay. Oh, we have to watch Twilight now. They're finding the material for the first time. Okay, wait. I'm going to get this wrong. Maybe you guys will remember, but I was on, you know, lurking on TikTok one night, and there was some video of the...
someone's like very pretty backyard and it was kind of like foggy weather and the caption was, I'm going to get this wrong, but the caption was something like,
It feels like real like weather or something. And it's this reference to this one song that plays in twilight. But like there's so and that was its own TikTok sound. But it's such a huge TikTok sound that they don't even like bother putting the sound on. They were just referencing the sound in like a noise. And I my dumb ass is going like I'm Googling like what is weather or whatever. And that like gets me full circle. And I was like, what is.
happening. That's how deep it goes. They hold on to a joke where they find something that we all loved and then they just discover it now, which makes me happy because I'm always like, oh my god, everyone's joining in. Totally. But then they make it into something that you didn't even put together. It's such a different generation because for us, it was like, we grew up, we
we were reading the books when they came out and then seeing the movies like in real time at midnight midnight premieres doing the whole thing you guys were doing that 100% oh yeah get out so it was like it was like serious for us you know like it's like this isn't a joke and then I think it like it took you know as the years went by it was like people were re-watching it and now this generation has got it and they just love you know they love
memeing things and making it's like all the like they're all in they're all in on an inside joke that we're on the outside of but the inside joke's about us right and it's like this isn't a meme to us this was very serious like enough with the memes well I will say there is something really satisfying to me about um
something that becomes a big kind of like cultural moment that then has a ton of backlash like in the months or years following it because I remember like being on reddit at the time and being like man if there's one thing about reddit it's that they fucking hate twilight and they hate everything like in the way that you were like do you like do other things or do you only hate twilight on reddit um
And there is something about it where you go, is this because it's for like youngish teenage preteen and teen girls? Like, is this why you hate it so fucking much? And it's like kind of satisfying to be like, wow. Like, I mean, what is it? 15 years later, it's still like kicking around and there's no more backlash. But that was like a whole wave of like.
people just making their entire personality hating Twilight. That is so wild to think about. And characters have changed, like the public perception of the characters have changed where it's like now when I see people talk about your character, they're like, oh, she was snarky. Like, we love it. It's funny to see how it all comes around. But yes, for you to now, as people being like, oh my God, Twilight, and you're like,
Pitch perfect. I don't know. Like, you're like, this is what we're pulling up Twilight. I sing, you know? Yeah. Yeah, there's... But, no. I mean, it's been great. You've been a part of some amazing franchises. And that's, like... When you're in a movie and they want, like, seconds, thirds, fourths. Like, what is that feeling like for you? I mean, I think it's...
in the cases where it's happened it's been a total shock for various reasons like well I mean to just take it into the present and then we'll go all the way back to Twilight yeah like I think Simple Favor the first question was like well how do we make another movie at the end of the first movie that yeah we
Do we have to reverse this? But yeah, you know, it works and it's great, whatever. But with Twilight, like, I really, I know it always feels like it's like, I don't know, false humility or something. I can promise you that we were, the idea that Twilight would get a sequel was out of the question. Out of the question. Like, it just didn't feel like people cared.
And it was like, okay, it's like teen vampire. And I know that now, like, that means, like, yeah, that's a moneymaker, teen vampire stuff. But it wasn't at the time. So it just seemed like I don't even really know what this will be. Like, I think...
I think it was like Ashley Green who like threw the wrap party once we were all back in LA. She just like rented out a bar like out of her own pocket because the first movie was such a nothing burger that like didn't
They weren't even going to give us a wrap party. And that was really standard on film sets, particularly at the time. So that's how little faith there was floating around. Not just like, oh, the cast, the producers and stuff. We're like, yeah, I don't know. We'll see what happens. That is so interesting hearing from you because on the outsider perspective, as a viewer, we all thought it was the biggest phenomenon of all time when the first movie came out.
So it's like, well, when it came out, we were like, yeah, right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So it's like to see how the difference there. And then, you know, you talked about simple favor to,
Pitch Perfect is also being talked about. That's another one. Everyone's like, another one. Everyone wants more from Pitch Perfect. I feel like that's actually, again, in the last six months, people are like, hey, when's Pitch Perfect 4? When's Pitch Perfect 4? At first, I thought it was just like, oh, I don't know. We've run out of things to talk about in the interview, but it's really insistent. No, it is. It's wild. My mother, this is not a joke. I could show you the text right now, texted me last night at 10 p.m. and was like,
If you want, if you guys do a Pitch Perfect 4, I have an idea. And she didn't tell me it over text, maybe it's top secret. It can't be written down. And then she followed up and she was like, I'd be willing to sell it to Paramount for the right price. And I was like, well, it is a film made by Universal. So, I mean, I don't know, maybe you're just a smart business lady and you're trying to get some community offers. I'm trying to prove.
produce a bidding war here. Yeah, exactly. You'll set up a meeting and maybe it'll happen. But is that even, like, is that in the talks or is that just something people just want? No, I think it's just something people want. I mean, you know, I always feel like if something's gonna, like, if something's going to be made to happen, Rebel's always gonna be the person that's like the steam train that marches into Universal or Paramount.
Who knows? If your mom's running it. Yeah, I can actually make something happen. But yeah, we're all kind of like, we would love to. If for no other reason than like, we're constantly trying to get the 10 of us in a room together again. And yeah,
It's a very wonderful thing that everyone is very busy and very successful and working, you know. And it feels like mostly we can manage to maybe get six people. But, you know, it does feel like, well, damn, like if we were ever really going to be in a room together, it would probably only happen if there was another movie. So selfishly, I think that's the main reason why we're like, yeah, we'll do it. Right, right, right. Exactly. You guys got a right time, right place. Was there... We have to wrap up, but I got to ask. Was there a period of time that...
people were just like making you do the cup song over and over. Like if you were at parties or if people saw you, they were like, can you do this? Can you do the cup song? People would, mostly people wouldn't ask. They'd sort of talk about it, but they wouldn't ask me to do it. And certainly I never did. That would be just to be clear. Somebody hands you like six solo cups. You're like, here you go. Move over. I got this one.
woman at like the white house correspondence dinner one year did come up to me and she wanted to do it for me but she had like i think she was a little tipsy yeah and she had like a real glass cup and i was like lady no no plastic surgery is going to be in both of our futures if you don't put that down right now um but mostly it's people coming up to me and saying that like their kid did it for a recital or something and there is a little bit of an undertone of like that
Thanks a lot. Yeah. Thanks a lot for that. Because it's like hearing someone practice chopsticks. Like once you get it down, it's cute. But that learning period is, it's really annoying. It's hard. So I'm very, very sorry as always to all the parents whose kids won't stop doing it, I
Oh, no. But like Rhea said, we have to wrap up. The last, last, last one. We know we talk a lot of reality TV, all that jazz. What are you watching right now that you're really into? I haven't got fully caught up on Love is Blind, this season of Love is Blind. Okay. Yeah.
But I was like, I was deep into Love Island. Yeah. And now I'm, yeah, I'm just watching the train wreck that is Love is Blind. So you were deep into this past season of Love Island? Oh, yeah. Oh, my God. Can we get some favorites and non-favorites? Well, I mean, of course, Queen Leia. Oh, yes. And how did that feel?
did that feel for you guys? Incredible. It was like, because you guys like broke the news. You like broke the news that everyone in America wanted to be the one to break the news. It was the most, I can't even talk about it because it feels like outer body and like I just keep. But like had a producer or anything like mentioned to her? Like how were you guys literally the people that were trying to keep them in the dark? They were like whispering. They didn't have their phones. Like Jenea was like, how many Instagram followers do I have?
Yeah, shut up. And they were like, all right, get out of the room. Get out of the room. They were pulling them out. They were yanking them as fast as possible. When they first sat down with us, none of them got their phones back. They still hadn't had their phones. In our interview with Leah, we were like, no. I said to her, I was like, Leah, you will always be famous. And she was like, what?
Like, and then we... So she really didn't... No, she didn't know. Nobody had, like, hinted to her, like, hey, the show's over, but, like, don't worry. I think they said, like, you're great, but until they got their phones back, and then we were in the airport with them when they got their phones back, and Leah looked down at her phone and looked at us, and she was like, they're calling me the people's princess, and we were like, oh, yeah. Yeah. It was actually crazy to witness, and we were like, we don't belong here. But that also must be, like, a very...
unsettling feeling to all...
yeah to just be like oh there's so many people watching oh honestly it felt like we were watching like a private like moment like even just being in the airport like seeing them like looking at their phones and like reading and like some of them had like tears in their eyes like we were like oh my god this is like this is crazy that they're just this is all hitting them hard right now as they're about to get on a 10 hour flight back home and you guys are just like congrats
And they're like, they're like asking us to join in like with shots with them. And we're like, yes, but like also I feel dirty doing this. Like, you know, I'm like, I shouldn't be a part of this, but you're, you're offering. So, okay. That's like, oh God, I feel like clout chasey, but they don't know how famous they are. So they're not seeing it that way. Like, oh, I'm going to be in the background of this Instagram story. Oh,
Okay. Yeah. But they have no clue. And Instagram stories that you know will be like picked apart with every minute you share. Yeah. Yeah. It was crazy. So it was a wild season. But thank you so much. Yes. Thank you so much. So much fun talking to you. And once again, everybody can stream Woman of the Hour on Netflix. It's fantastic. Thank you so much. Yes. Thank you so much.

All right, ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to another game of Beat Rhea and Fran. This is game number 147, and we are joined by Bridget and Maisie. They are in different time zones. I don't want to make them nervous, but they're in different time zones, and they are ready to play. So let's get into it. How are you guys feeling? Thank you so much for having us. Oh, of course. Yep, feeling good. All the way from the central time zone.
Central time zone really gets forgotten the most. It does. It's just one hour. Right. Yep.
Anytime we're like trying to schedule stuff with Chicago, we always also forget that. The one hour. About the one hour. But okay, we will jump into it. 15 questions. If you get the question right, you get the point. If you get the question wrong, you can, the other team can steal the point. Whoever has the most points at the end wins. To determine who goes first, Noah's going to give us a movie. We're going to guess the Rotten Tomatoes critic score of that movie. Whoever's the closest wins.
We'll get to go first. So, Noah, what is today's movie? And we will alternate between teams for guesses. When Harry Met Sally. Oh. Okay, so one of you guys throw out a guess first. What do you think, Mays? You want to go first? 78? I don't know. Okay. Coming in hard and fast, 78. Okay. Rhea? 92. Okay. It sounds like everybody's thinking high. I'll go... I'll go...
In the 80s, maybe I'll say 82. I feel like we're trying to like really hit it on the head here, you know? I'm going to say 87. Wow.
What did you say, Ria? 92. Fran's the closest. 89. Ah! Nice. Well, it's a battle between the two of us. I'm just going to sandwich right in there, yes. The price is right. You, like, go after the number that somebody said before you. Okay, question number one to Ria and Fran. Shout out Erica and Ryan from Arlington, Virginia. Name the Disney Channel original movie that these three songs belong to. It's over. Why wait? Step up.
It's Cheetah Girls 2. Yeah. Cheetah Girls 2. Yep. Final answer. Yep. Correct. Yep. Your girl knows anything. Yeah. Cheetah Girls 2. The streets of Barcelona. Yes. One nothing re-inferring. Question number two to Bridget and Maisie. Shout out McKenna from Ann Arbor, Michigan. What animated movie are Will Smith, Angelina Jolie, and Jack Black in together? You do know, Maisie?
Is it Shark Tale? I don't know. I don't know. The only thing I feel like I know animated by Jack Black is Kung Fu. Is he Kung Fu Panda? Oh, yeah, he is Kung Fu Panda. Do you know if any of those other people are in that? Probably. Jack Black, Kung Fu Panda, and I think, but it's Will Smith, too. Five seconds.
What do you want to say, Kung Fu Panda? Okay, Kung Fu Panda, final answer. Incorrect. I think it's Shark Tales. No. Shark Tale. Shark Tale. Shark Tale. Shark Tale. Yeah, because that's the one with Angelina Jolie. She's a hot fish. Yeah. Shark Tale. You're a hot fish? Yes. Correct. Yep. Maisie, why did we go with that? I thought she was a hot fish. Yes. Bitch.
Dang it. Why did I even speak? Okay, question number three to Rhea and Fran. Shout out to Elizabeth from St. Louis. Name this year. God's Plan is at the top of the Billboard charts. Jersey Shore, Family Vacation premieres. Beyonce headlines Coachella. I think this is 2018 or 2019. I'm going to go 2018. I say 18 as well. 2018. 2018.
Yeah. Correct. Dang it. Would you have known that, Maisie? Yeah. I need to just stop talking. Okay. Three nothing, Rianne Fran. Question number four to Bridget and Maisie. Shout out Beth from Cincinnati, Ohio. Becca Tilly was on The Bachelor twice. Who were her two bachelors? Oh, I know this. Chris Soules and Ben Higgins. I'm pretty sure. Maisie, do you know anything about that?
I'm pretty sure Chris, I'm pretty sure Chris souls. She was like top two. And I know she went back on Ben Higgins cause she was with Jojo on that season. So I feel like we should just go with that. Maybe.
Okay, you want to go with that? Okay, crystals in Ben Higgins. Final answer. Correct. Yeah. Let's go. She really is kind of underrated that she was like, I think she was like runner up on crystals. I'm a big scrubbing in gal too. Yes. I'm proud that I got that one. She could have been engaged to crystals, which really would have been. She's happy and thriving now. Not the move. No. She did a hard left there. Yeah.
I love her. Okay. 3-1 Rianne Fran. Still no incorrect questions so far. Question number five to Rianne Fran. Shout out Elizabeth from St. Louis. Again. At the 2022 Emmys, who pretended to be unconscious laying on the floor next to Quinta Brunson as she accepted her Emmy? I don't recall this. I know. Oh.

Was it somebody in Abbott Elementary? I don't think so. All right, pass, I guess. I'm going to say Tina Fey, final answer. Incorrect. It's pretty amazing. Do you remember this maze? I feel like it was one of the late night hosts. Yeah, but I'm not sure. I was thinking Kimmel, but...
I don't know, because I feel like... I don't know. For some reason, I'm thinking Jimmy Kimmel, but I don't know for sure. I'd give it. You think I should say it? You don't have any other guesses? Okay, all right. Uh...
Jimmy Kimmel, final answer. Correct. Wow, that's a great poll. Let's go. That's a great poll right there. I don't remember that at all. I do, I do. People were very mad about it. They were like, he stole her moment. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Now I remember that at all. I feel like I just remember him addressing it on his late night show. I don't recall. Wow. Okay, 3-2, Rianne Fran. And this question is to Bridgette and Maisie. Shout out Elizabeth from St. Louis again.
Jen Shaw's season two tagline for The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City said that the only thing she was guilty of being was what? We are not housewives girls. Hopefully this is the only housewife question. Do you have any idea, Maisie? I feel like I can see it. I can see it in my head. I don't know. If you have a guess, just say it. Otherwise, I feel like I just, I listened to Rhea and Fran talk about it and I, I don't, I feel like. Really? Ten seconds.
Something like fabulous or something. I don't know. Or like when she's truthful or something. We'll pass. We'll just say fabulous. I don't know this. The only thing I'm guilty of is being hot. No. I got nothing. The only thing I'm guilty of is... I don't know. 15 seconds. I don't know. I pass. Shaw amazing.

Best Buy. Final answer. Correct. What? Wow. I mean, that's just a Black Friday special. Like, you just go to Best Buy on Black Friday. That is a Black Friday special right there. Nice. Always worth throwing out a guess. Yeah. All right. 4-2, Rianne Fran. And this is question number 8-2, Bridget and Maisie. Shout out Abby from Hoboken.
In Harry Potter, on the first day of Professor McGonagall's class, what does she suggest she turn Ron and Harry into? Maze. Do you have any clue? No, but shout out to my friend Taryn that watched all the movies with me in preparation for this. She may know the answer. This is a tough question.
I don't know. I feel like she wouldn't do that. Rats? Yeah. Time is up. Say it. What'd you say, Maze? Yeah. Mice, I guess. Mice. Incorrect. Serene fan. I don't know. I'm just gonna... Bats? I think it's... I don't know. Owls? My guess is owls. Okay. Okay.

And I'm gonna play a movie clip and you tell me what movie it's from. Okay. We were about to have the best Ellis Island party ever because my cousin met John Stamos at Disney and he was coming. But you narked to your cop dad. I narked because he made me. How? How did he even know? Because when I found out that I wasn't invited to your party, it hurt me so very deep that I threw up really hard. Why didn't you make me?
Oh my gosh. I have no idea. Something about not being invited to a party? I don't know. I can't think of any movies like that. I couldn't even recognize the actor's voice, could you? 15 seconds. When you didn't invite me to your party. Oh! You're so not invited to my bat mitzvah?
I feel like they might have done that clip already. Should I just say that? Yeah. You're so not invited to my bat mitzvah. Incorrect. Can you play it one more time? We were about to have the best Ellis Island party ever because my cousin met John Stamos at Disney and he was coming. But you narked to your cop dad. I narked because he made me. How? Doesn't it sound like older women are fighting about something that happened back in the day? Very deep.
Maybe it's like Bad Moms. Because remember when they get all drunk? Yeah, that's a good guess. Whatever. Bad Moms. Yeah. Close. Sisters. Tina Fey. Oh.
That was Tina Fey and Maya Rudolph. You know what? I knew the second voice. I was like, that sounds like Maya Rudolph, but I just couldn't. I've never seen that movie. You know what? I'm okay with my bad mom's guess. Yeah, that's a good guess. I felt like I was very adjacent. It was a good realm of possibility. I thought it was Maya Rudolph, and then I was like, should I say Bridesmaids? But doesn't sound like Bridesmaids. I feel like not a lot of people like
have seen that movie. Maybe I'm wrong. Sisters? I don't know. Or I like, don't, not a lot of people love that movie. It is still 4-2 Rian Fran and this is question number 11 to them.
