President Trump attends a national prayer service at Washington National Cathedral this morning and makes an announcement about infrastructure this afternoon. He, in the hours after replacing President Biden yesterday, signed dozens of executive actions and orders on immigration and border security, pardoning January 6th Capitol rioters, delaying a TikTok ban, pulling out of the Paris Climate Agreement, freezing federal hiring, ending federal diversity programs, and more, like withdrawing from the World Health Organization.
President Trump cites the organization's mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic and other health crises and a failure to adopt needed reforms. The president withdrew the U.S. from the WHO near the end of his first term. That was quickly reversed by President Biden. The WHO says it hopes the United States will reconsider, saying the U.S. is a founding member of the WHO and has helped save countless lives and protected Americans from health threat.

A Border Patrol agent is shot and killed during a traffic stop. The stop took place not far from the Canadian border on I-91 in Coventry, Vermont. Homeland Security says two suspects were in the car that Border Patrol agents were pulling over. They say one of the suspects is dead. The FBI, which is investigating the incident, says the second suspect was injured and is in custody.

More people are ordered to evacuate after several fires broke out in northern San Diego County overnight, with officials in the region on high alert as they cope with high winds and relentless dry conditions.
Authorities say more than 150 firefighters are fighting the Lilac Fire in Bonzel, which is continuing to grow, and that more resources are on the way to help in the battle taking place on mostly steep and rocky terrain.
