Hey folks, Aaron here. Welcome back to another edition of Deeper Lore, a bonus episode designed to serve as a topical guide to the most recent episode of lore. Have you ever wondered where you can find more episodes on the topic you just heard about? Did this particular type of folklore get you interested in keeping that vibe going? Well, that's the purpose of Deeper Lore. In this short bonus episode, I'll dig into our vast 10-year archive and point out some old episodes that fit well with this week's newest. The hope is that you can keep this spooky feeling going well into the weekend, putting a handful of episodes into a new, more powerful context.
So let's get started, shall we? This week for episode 283, On the Nose, we step into a pretty overlooked corner of folklore, perfume. More than just a cosmetic scent designed to make us smell better, some perfumes are ghosts, taking us back to an older time. It's a weird part of everyday living where the past seems to live right alongside the present.
But it's not the first time that we've discussed topics like this, so here are three older episodes that will pair up nicely with this week's new one. First up, episode 20, Homestead. In this episode, we visit a handful of homes where the past refused to go quietly, leaving behind a lingering reminder of what once was.
This one is an oldie, and it's available in its original format and also in the remastered version, but either one will give you the chills you're looking for. Next, download episode 23, Rope and Railing. A fan-favorite classic, this episode explores some of the most haunted lighthouses out there. And what are ghosts but a subtle reminder of the past, like the scent of a favorite perfume. You might want to listen to this one with the lights on, though. The stories are dark enough as it is.

but it's not the first ocean liner story that we've covered on Lore. The Queen Mary has a lot of dark secrets. And this oldie is one of the few stories that you can also experience yourself.
