While this can limit creativity, it also offers boundaries and direction for what musical effect is desired. We all stand on the shoulders of those who came before us. So what better way to learn about an art than by imitating or being inspired by what has succeeded before?'<br>Whitney Mello: 'One of my first jobs out of college, one of my colleagues showed me that in her email inbox, she kept a folder of her wins. And in it, she would save nice things people said to her or accomplishments or things she was proud of. And so when she had a bad day or wanted to quit, she could look at the folder and think about, okay, I’ve done something right.'
