Operation Babylift was the name given to the mass evacuation of children from South Vietnam to the United States and other western countries (including Australia, France, West Germany, and Canada) at the end of the Vietnam War on April 3–26, 1975.

In 1975 he (DeCamp) initiated Operation Baby Lift, which evacuated 2,800 orphaned Vietnamese children, and was later assigned to serve as an aide to William Colby, then-Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam.
