Hey there, it's your girl Nikki again and welcome back to my channel

So, you know, these few days, if you're on the internet a lot, I'm pretty sure that you might be feeling down and frustrated maybe, or even smothered by the situation in Shanghai. You know, there is this news where a young woman committed suicide because she couldn't bear the attack from the internet trolls anymore.

And if you have friends in Shanghai, you can see from their posts that their daily sustenance is in trouble. I mean, they probably have no supply of fresh veggies and fruits and etc. And most depressingly, they have no idea how long this lockdown is going to last forever.

So to be honest, I think these pieces of negative news can easily push us to a corner where we feel depressed and hopeless. But here in my channel, I never advocate indulging in our emotions, especially negative types. So we'd better recognize these emotions and think about what action we should take

I mean, when we organize our thoughts and really start to do something, we don't really have the time to be the victim of terrible emotions, right? So here in this episode, I am going to talk about several things that I think we need to do during this very difficult and trying time. All I could think of is you Then the stories won't have to hurt

So first, I think that we need to get ourselves educated about the Omicron variant that is crazily spreading right now. You know, this time Shanghai is hit by Omicron BA2, which is 30% more contagious than the original Omicron variant.

and obviously much more infectious than the virus we knew in the past, such as Delta or Alpha. So what we're facing right now is actually a completely new kind of virus, and some of our understanding about the virus in the past should be rectified. So here I quote an article from NBC Chicago.

The subvariant called BA2 is going to infect every unvaccinated person until people are vaccinated and until they are wearing a mask. You can choose to ignore these clear data, but the virus could care less what we think. The virus is going to find people who do not have protective immunity and infect them."

So here I seriously suggest that you guys get a third dose of vaccine against COVID. I mean, it's going to protect you, at least to some degree. I think you guys should also talk the elders in your family to get vaccinated because they are apparently the most vulnerable in the face of COVID. But of course, it's just my personal suggestion. You guys should do full research yourself before making a decision.

And then the next thing, the second thing that I want to talk about, about what we should do, I think stocking up our pantry is not a bad idea right now. I mean, nobody knows what's going to happen next. And what if our city is also under lockdown?

I mean, usually people now are living a very fast-paced life, and a lot of us live off on takeouts, and we cannot live without apps like Meituan or Hema and etc. But I mean, what if one day under lockdown, we cannot get enough sustenance from them?

we might as well consider preparing something in advance just in case, right? So girls and guys, do some shopping, okay? You guys can go for some rice, beans, oatmeal, and canned fruit, and veggies.

dry milk powder and peanut butter instant noodles sausages you know things like that i mean these stuff can be stored for a long time without going rancid um anyway uh i hope that i am not sounding too crazy

It's like I'm preparing for war but I mean this can be a war right? Anyway so the message here is to keep yourself well prepared and keep your pantry stocked for emergencies you know. Okay now the last thing that I want to talk about that I think we need to do is to check your social media less.

I mean it, you know, social media is all good because we're getting updated about things going on. But when we cannot do anything about it, it is just feeding our anxiety and it is not doing anything beneficial to our lives. So yeah, please just limit your time on social media and do something better with your time.

These few days I have been playing tennis and I feel like the hours when I am engaging in a new sport really make me appreciate life much more. I mean, I can temporarily just get myself away from those negativity when I am surfing the internet. So it definitely feels better than holding my cell phone and check

one negative piece of news after another. Okay, so I think, yeah, these, right now I should do a wrap up here. I think this is the end for today's episode and majorly I am trying to deliver three messages. The first thing is to get ourselves more educated about this new virus and whether you guys need to get vaccinated or to take the third shot or something you guys need to

take the responsibility and do the research and then make a decision. And the second message is that you guys just need to do some preparation and stock up some food, some drinks, just in case of some emergencies or something. And the third thing is that especially during this trying time,

I feel like there might be so, so much negativity online. So please stay away from social media as much as you can and fill your time with something better to do. Okay. Anyway, so hopefully we can all stay safe, healthy, and stay sane during insane times. This is Nikki, and I'm going to see you guys next time. Bye.
