Do you have a workout that you think your body likes more? I wonder if like cardio works more with my body. I don't know. But that's where I notice the most improvements. We're definitely not saying you need a man. We're just saying if you have one, it's okay to like
them. True, I remember I used to be a bit of a man-hater a few years ago and then I started to shift my mindset and I was like, I only hate some men. I am showering before I get in that bed if I've been on a flight. I don't shower. Shut up! Welcome back to another episode of Mean Girl Pod. How are you? How is it? I'm great, how are you? I'm good, kind of. I'm back in New York, which, you know, I love it here. Ha ha ha.
But I do see that you have written down as a rose that you've got to enjoy these days. Yes. Oh, my God. So I was in Florida all last week babysitting Elroy. So my mom retired like, I don't know, maybe two weeks ago now, three weeks ago. And her and my dad and then my godmother and my godfather, they went on a European cruise for two weeks. So...
They were off gallivanting, having the best time of their life. So my brother took care of the dog one week, and then I took care of the dog the second week. And Pete was with me for a while, but he had to come back to New York to work. So I was just there with Elroy. And on one of the mornings, I was just laying in bed. And I'm like a very regimented person, so I usually get up with my alarm every day, do the same morning routine. But one morning, it was just me and Elroy, and the alarm went off. And I was like, you know...
I don't really want to get up at 6 a.m. I have no plans in the evening. It's just me and him. Because usually in New York, I'll wake up early because I want to end my day at a normal time. And like, I want to hang out with Pete or my friends. But in Florida, I was like, I got no plans. I got nowhere to be. So I was like, you know what? I have to take advantage of these days because I thought about you and I was like, in 15 years...
Or for the next 15 years, I might not be able to ever sleep in again if I have a kid in the next five years or whatever. Girl, it is so true. And like, it's so funny because I think about it now. Like back when I was like 25, I was like hungover in bed or something like no worse feeling. Like you truly feel like you're wasting time. But now if I like sleep in or something.
I don't sleep in now anymore, but if I, if I'm laying in bed with like Tate or like we're having like family time and we're just like chilling, it's the best time on the planet. Right. It's like more meaningful when you do it that way and you like truly take advantage of it. I think that's the real winners. Yeah. I mean, you really talking to you inspired me because we had the conversation about you lost your getting ready routine. And I, when I was laying in bed, I thought of you and I was like, you know what? Like,
I don't know what the future holds and why am I getting so bent out of shape about sleeping in an extra hour when I have literally no plans in the evening so my day can go on until 7, 8 o'clock at night like it doesn't matter. Like I need to take advantage of this because I don't know even next year what could happen or in two years. Like there could be a time where I don't ever get to sleep in for the foreseeable future and I just...
I just like I need to take advantage of these days and just be less hard on myself. Like who made up these specific rules? I did when I worked in corporate America.
Yeah, that you had to be so regimented and like live. I think throwing some spice in the middle of the week is the best, right? Like I love having a slight morning routine and then just being like, okay, but today I'm not working out. I'm just going to sit and have coffee and read. Like how fun. Yeah, that was me this morning. I didn't get home until midnight last night and I
This morning I was like, I'm not working out. I'm just going to get up, drink coffee and have a slow morning because I'm exhausted. And I was like, this is great. I was like, girl, what were you doing last night? But you were just traveling. I was like midnight. No, my, my flight didn't wild. No, my gosh. Yeah. Not by choice. My flight didn't get it until I think I landed at, it was so weird. I landed at like
probably 1030 then if I got home at, well, maybe not midnight. Oh yeah. Cause when I come home, I unpack, I was like, why didn't I, why was I going to bed so late? Um, when I landed at LGA, it was the weirdest thing. So they must've made a new terminal there, but I landed and I was like, did I get off the wrong flight? Like, did I actually fly to like
a different state or am I in Newark right now because I had never seen this terminal before and then I was like wait did they do like an emergency landing at like a different terminal and I was tweaking out and then all of a sudden I like
up to a point where I was like, oh no, they just opened up a brand new terminal that I've never seen before. But I was, cause it was dead too. It was like 1030. No one's in the airport at 1030 PM. I was freaking out. Yeah. That's that. They're always, they are always doing something to those airports. Like they just wreak havoc on them constantly, but it's so nice when there's nobody there. Oh, it was so nice. I was first off the plane. I just like ran to my taxi and then got home. I'm packed and
Did not go to bed right away. Cause you know how when you get home from a trip, your mind is just like racing. Yeah. And so when you get home, even late at night, do you unpack right away? Oh yeah. I, um, like I remember one time I got home at, I, okay, this is wild. I don't know why it would have been 2 a.m.,
I wonder if it was like a red eye of some sort. Maybe flights were really delayed, but I remember I got home at like 2 a.m. I unpacked. My lotion exploded all over my stuff in my suitcase, but I was so angry that I was like, I just pushed through it and I cleaned everything up and then I went to bed because I was like, I don't want to deal with it. But no, like if I don't unpack, I won't be able to go to bed. That is... What do you do? I'll leave it if it's really late.
Yeah, I'll leave it. I'll get my toiletries out of it. But what I always do though is I will shower. Like I am showering before I get in that bed if I've been on a flight. No question. I don't shower. Shut up. No, I just change clothes. I'm shocked. You're going to unpack?
Oh because Okay so you're going You gotta have the organization Oh my gosh No I gotta rinse the plane off I have to rinse the plane off That's how Pete is Like if we get in at 3am He's like I'm showering And I'm like I'm not I'm going to bed
Are you showering if you fly somewhere? Like, let's say you fly somewhere for a wedding and then you land at 2 p.m., but you shower the night before. Are you showering the second you get there? Oh, for sure. If it's at like a normal time of day and I have something to go to, I will for sure do body shower. Like I probably wouldn't wash my hair, but I'll for sure body shower because like my skin just feels disgusting. Yeah. Yeah. I got to I always got to rinse the plane. I'm I got to rinse off like a car ride, too. I don't know.
That is so funny. Like, if it's a long, like, road trip, yeah, it's so funny. I don't know what the deal is. But, no, not always unpacking, but I do find it fascinating people that do unpack. Does Harrison? Because Pete doesn't. He will wait until the morning to unpack. Yeah, we're both waiting. We're both. And we've had some late... Like, I think about these airports, you know, you get back sometimes at 1, 2, but...
And you're just wrecked. I was doing the calculations and I was like, from the moment I left my parents to the moment I walked into my apartment, I think it was like six or seven hours. And I'm like, this is so exhausting.
Where do you fly out of and into with your parents? So I either will fly into Tampa or Sarasota, depending on the flight availability. Sarasota is great, but they only have two flights that go into New York every day and that leave Sarasota to New York every day. So...
You either have to like leave at the crack of dawn or like 7 p.m. at night. So I'll usually do Tampa, but Tampa's an hour from my parents. So it's not the most fun to like land and then drive an hour home. Dipsystories.com slash mean. Who doesn't love 30 free days? Yeah, well, I guess at least you're in Florida. Oh, speaking of Florida, so you have an update on what city you like the most. Oh, yeah. So, um...
Since I was there, I had unlimited time. So I looked around more of like Tampa and St. Pete. And I just need to let everyone know because I was so pro-Tampa. I think I'm more pro-St. Pete. Now I get the hype. It's more like beachy and laid back, more of a walkable city. It has more to do. It's a very active city. Did I say it's near the beach? I think I did. It's just, I was like, now I get the hype. I get the hype of St. Pete. Yeah.
And when you said you liked Tampa, were people messaging you being like, no, like St. Pete more? Everyone. What do you mean the hype? Okay. Oh, is that fascinating? Everyone was. And like, even my friends had been there and they're all like, what the heck, Jordan? No, St. Pete is... Like, I have two close girlfriends who have been there and they're like, no, St. Pete is better than Tampa. And I'm like, what are you talking about? And I don't know what I was talking about. Both Pete and I were like...
We're like, we're missing something. So we went back and actually spent a day there. And we're like, no, no, no. We get the hype now. It's like a true beachy town. That's incredible. I always think life is so... There's always those cheesy signs that say life is better by the beach. But it truly is. I was literally just going to say, are you guys by a beach? But obviously you're not. You're in Austin. But you guys have Lake Travis, which is huge. And we have Lake Austin. We have a lot of water by us. But there's nothing like...
Like I always said, I would sit in traffic below the palm trees. Like it's, I always, I'm fine with sitting in traffic in like the Florida. So like the drive from the airport, no problem. Like driving around in Miami, driving over that bridge. Like I'm thrilled. Oh, I don't know what it is, but when you see a palm tree, it's just, it's the most beautiful thing ever. You're like, I'm happy.
My neighbors have palm trees. There's palm trees here. I don't really get it, but I guess you have the climate. I get like, I guess we do have the climate. I just, we got to be like right on the cusp of like what qualifies to have a palm tree. You know what I mean? Like we got to be like the bare minimum. They must've brought it in and planted it. Right. Cause I can't imagine there just being a palm tree forest in Austin. Yeah.
There's like a couple of my neighbors have them. I don't know. I don't know what the deal is. I think there's nothing more beautiful than a palm tree, though. I totally agree. Yeah. So that was my rose. So sorry. I guess I'll do my thorn last. But what was your rose? My rose. Oh, you know what? My rose has shifted. We bought our house. You did? Yeah.
Late last night, yes. I mean, we've been trying, but we could not get it over the finish line. We've been going back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And I was like, try not to say anything because you don't want to jinx it. But last night at like 9 p.m., we got the... I don't know all the logistics of it, okay? Like if you're listening and you're like, well, what's... I think we signed the contract. Everyone signed. So it's like...
We're going into the part now, I don't know, escrow? Wait. Yeah, we're going into escrow. The house you're in now you bought or a different house? Yes, the house we're in now. So I'm not moving. I'm living here. This is, yes. So I'm so excited because like I had this looming unknown day after day and I was like, they extended our lease till tomorrow. So I had movers that were going to come tomorrow and like I didn't, we were going to move into a hotel. I don't know. I was like, really? Really?
Sort of disassociating from the whole process. But now we're staying. Wait, also like how nice that you don't have to move. I like, I can't. Especially with a baby. It is so nice that we don't have to move. So, oh my God, why am I having a brain fart? Oh, did the professional organizer come then? Did she organize your closet? Yeah.
So she came and she gave me like two quotes. Like she gave me one quote for if you stay, right? And then she gave me another quote for if you move. And so obviously we're staying. So she hasn't come yet because like we still, we got to start doing like remodel stuff. I don't even know. I don't even know. I haven't even like, I just, I got to figure it all out. I got to make a plan. Wait, is this your first home that you've owned? Yeah. Cause you lived in only apartments previous, right? Like in California and all those places. Yeah.
Yeah, I've just always rented. Oh my God, congrats. Thank you. Yeah, wild, like...
Really fun like so fun you know but I was thinking about it this morning you know I used to feel like this was somebody else's house that I lived in obviously because it was but this morning I was like using the sink and I was just like you know wiping everything up a lot more I was like this is mine. Okay I feel that to my core because I am a clean freak but every apartment I lived in I'm like deep clean whatever I'll never live here forever but like when I'm at my parents I'm like scrubbing because I feel like I live there and I'm like no no this place is like mine.
Yeah, it's such a different feeling and it's just, yeah, it's wild. So it's, it's, I'm really happy. I feel like it hasn't really hit me yet because I've just been sort of on edge, like wondering what was next and the uncertainty was kind of weighing on me. So I'm really happy that the end has arrived. Oh, that's so nice. I'm so happy and relieved for you guys because I mean, we all know how stressful moving to an apartment is and renting is. So I'm just so happy that this is all figured out for you.
Yeah, me too. So I just, I don't have any other update besides that, but that'll do for now. Do you have a thorn? You know, I was thinking about my thorn earlier today and I think I have like, I like don't really have a thorn and I thought about pitching this to you.
Of if there's not a thorn, maybe I don't go search for one. I love that because my only thorn is that I'm back in New York and that's not really a thorn. Like whatever. We all know that. I don't love it here. Nothing's new.
Yeah, I was like, maybe I don't have anything bad right at this moment. I was searching for one, and then I was just like, you know what? I'm going to pitch that I don't have a thorn. I'm thornless for a moment. Or you could do a double rose if you wanted. I always love hearing the roses more than the thorns anyways. I feel like they're more fun conversations.
Okay, well, I do have a double rose. So I've been going to workout classes with friends. I went to three last week. Like, people were like, do you want to work out with me? And I was like, yeah. Wait, which – you have to give us the workout classes too. Which ones were they? So I went to a Pilates class. Two different Pilates classes, right? I went to one at this place called Forma, one at this place called Homebody, and then I went to this place called Heat Boot Camp, which is like weights. It's not heated though. Oh, I was like – The name is –
I know it's a real branding issue. We were, we were laughing about with the owner. We were like, everyone thinks it's heated. And he was like, I know, I know. So it's not, it's just literally like a weight. It was really fun. So I love going. I don't think I ever really went to workout classes with people. And I find it to be like a really good way to bond with people. Um,
And I was like proud of myself for showing up. And yeah, that's my, that's another rose I have is like these workout friends. I love it. I love that. And I think too, going to workout classes with new friends is great. Like if people are always like, oh, I don't really want to know what to do with this new friend, go to a workout class because you don't have to really worry about small talk because you have someone of like facilitating the conversation. And then you have something to bond over and talk about afterwards. Like, I feel like it's a really great,
Thing to bridge a friendship Or create a friendship with Yeah like what a cool thing Like so to Friday morning was I went with my friend Jade Friday morning last week And I like think I'm gonna text her gonna make Hey do you want to go tomorrow again and like Maybe her and I make it a thing And then maybe we start if we have time Like to get coffee afterwards or something And then it's like you know I work out with her I love that
I'm like, why not? And then you know what I'm doing tonight? Actually, I'm going to a Pilates class that one of my friends is teaching. Oh, wait, that's fun. Is it one of the two that you places you went to? Or is this like a new Pilates studio? It's one of the places I went to and I can walk there from here. And she texted me. She was like, I'm teaching. And I was like, I'll come. You know what? Like easy. I'll come. I would love to do a Pilates class. So I'm going to go. That's sick. I always think it'd be so cool to be a workout instructor, but I'm too scared. But like in another life, I always thought it'd be fun to be one.
You like, but you, I remember you used to do weightlifting stuff, right? Yeah. I feel like I've tried a little bit of everything. Um, like cycling, weightlifting. I've, I've dabbled a little in Pilates. I do my own thing kind of now, but, um, I wanted to be a spin instructor for a very long time, but I got too scared.
Maybe you should do it one day if it comes back into your – you know what? Maybe if you ever move to Florida, there you would do some sort of fitness instructing. That would actually be fun. The only thing is I'm afraid that if a hobby becomes a job, I won't enjoy it anymore. But I know that's kind of like a cop-out sometimes, but that tends to be my issue. No, I think that's actually a very fair –
a very fair assessment. And you reminded me of this, speaking of this Pilates, have you heard of, I don't know the name of it, but it's a three to one program where it's three Pilates, two weightlifting, maybe one cardio day. And it's this program, but it's all at home. And so for, for the Pilates, like if you don't have an at-home reformer, you do it on a foam roller.
And you're like, and the classes are like 30, 35 minutes and you're able to achieve like the same Pilates shakes and like the same target, the same muscles all on a foam roller. Isn't that cool? Guys, we have 30% off the Blissy silk pillowcases, which I have been sleeping on mine for three or four weeks now. And what I used to,
flip flop my face on sides because I always heard that pillowcases can really enhance wrinkles and it's really bad for your skin. Now I sleep like a baby and I don't worry about what side I'm sleeping on because I'm sleeping on my Blissy silk pillowcase. And you know what? I wish I had known about it sooner because dermatologists, they let you in on the skincare secret and they tell all their clients the same thing, which is what mine told me. Ditch the cotton pillowcases. You guys are always asking Jordan and I for skincare tips.
routines. And you know what the biggest hack is? It's your pillowcase. And it's, you spend so much time on your pillowcase at night. Think about how long you sleep, six hours, eight hours, 10 hours, if you're lucky and you're on your pillowcase the whole time. So switch it up for a
And you guys, because you're a listener, Blissy is offering 60 nights risk-free plus an additional 30% off when you shop at blissy.com slash meanpod. That's B-L-I-S-S-Y dot com slash meanpod. And use code meanpod to get an additional 30% off. Your skin and hair will thank you. Wait, if you remember what that is, please send that to me because...
like at the gym, I just go in the studio and do, I bring weights with me, but I could easily do that with a foam roller in the studio. Oh yes. I've seen you in the gym in this, in that room, right? Yeah. Cause I, I don't go to a Pilates studio, but I have like the gym I go to has like a full studio and they have like little things here and there. And, um, I'm, I like build my own Pilates classes or Matt Pilates workouts with like Tik TOK videos I watch. So I would love that. That actually makes sense. Cause you have to like balance yourself on
On a foam roller. Yeah, I just texted my friend. I said, what's the name of the 3-2-1 fitness program? Because I think that it would... Okay, let's see. What is this? No, it's a name of a girl. What's her name? Courtney Fisher. I do think that's what it was. I think it's Courtney Fisher's program. Courtney Fisher. Let me ask her. The 3-2-1 method by Courtney Fisher. What's that one girl? It's like Body by Nicki. Does that ring a bell to Priscilla or Julie? No.
Oh my God. Madeline was like, you have to do her Pilates workouts are on YouTube. And she says they're so hard. And then I was watching TikTok and this girl was like, my body changed from watching. Oh my God. It's going to piss me off. I think it's Nikki or Nicole. It's Nicole. Body by Nicole. And apparently her YouTube Pilates videos move with Nicole as her handle are extremely hard and like great workouts. So I'm like, maybe I should look into that.
Oh, I see. I see the YouTube channel moving. Yeah. But like those, some, I just did a Pilates arms the other day. Like I just would YouTube the, like just Google and then I'll just do the first one. Yeah. I mean, people are always like, how do you find your workouts? Like TikTok, literally like just Google it on tech or search on TikTok. I was okay. So I was listening to, it was a clip, but it was this girl, my friend, Dr. Shannon. And she was on the skinny confidential and she was asking her like,
different workouts work for different types of people, right? Like weightlifting is very different than like our, our long lean access muscles from Pilates. And they were talking about how it's, um, genetic of like, which one works better for you. And I found that to be so fascinating. Like, do you have a workout that you think your body likes more?
Wait, that's so fascinating. Did she just go on that recently? Because I want to listen to that. Yeah, it was like in the last month, I think. You know what's interesting? I actually would agree with that because I feel like
Out of all the workouts I've ever done, the one where I've noticed the most change was actually when I was a runner or I did like cycling classes. And I don't know if that plays into the category she did because I've always found it very difficult for myself to gain muscle. Like I've lifted for years and I never really saw too much improvement. And I wonder too, like when I was a kid and like through my...
like puberty years, I never was an athlete. Like I never did sports. So my body was never used to it. So I wonder like I was a dancer. So we were mainly doing cardio all the time. So I wonder if like cardio is works more with my body. I don't know, but that's where I noticed the most improvements. Really? When you're doing heavy cardio. Yeah. Like cycling or when I was a runner, you know, psych I've never, I've owned, there was a period of my life where I did do it. It's such an incredible workout.
Like that one, that one I never think of doing, but it really, and it feels good too. Like your joints are preserved. They always do like the weights. I love the two pound weight deals. Like I think that's a great workout. Oh, I used to have the Peloton app and I would just put it on like a stationary bike at the gym and just do that all the time. But then I got burnt out from it because I did it all the time. So do you have one that works best for you? No, I don't know. Like
I really feel like I gave Barry's like a true shot for two and a half months. And like, I loved it, but I couldn't put on any muscle. Like the weights were really hurting my back and stuff. So right now I think Pilates is best for me because I'm trying to build my, my core back. Um, and so just like walking in Pilates has been, um,
I'm working out right now to feel good, and that's been really good. But there will be a phase where I would love to box again. I would love to do berries again. I love high-intensity workouts. I've just realized right now in this phase I need nice, kind workouts. I'm in the exact same phase. That's why I just do walk. That's why I just walk and do the low-impact weights because my body hurts when I do that. I'm never going to become a runner again. I'll never be a...
a huge spinner or cycler again. Like, I just, it hurts. Yeah, man. I'm thinking about this Florida thing. You could walk forever there. Oh my God. Yeah. Question was the video. She wasn't on the podcast recently. Was it? Cause I just Googled it and it looks like she's been on like in 20, 2023 and 2024. Well, they, they did post the episode though. Hold on. Let me look like this one is like Dr. Shannon Ritchie, the perfect workout plan.
Well, maybe they were just promoing it again, but I remember on her story she was like, today. Oh. But, yeah, I don't see it. Hmm. I do want to listen to the Sammy Clark and Sammy Spalter one. Interesting. Yeah, I really want to listen to the Shannon one because I'm so curious now to finding, like, the best workout routine for my body. You should follow her, Dr. Shannon. Why does she sound so familiar? Yeah.
She's my friend. So like sometimes I tag her and things, but she is, uh, she has this app called the Evlo app. Um, but all of her posts are like myths. Like I love when she does these like myths versus fact of like, uh, lifting head, like a very standard one, like lifting heavy, uh, makes you bulky. Right. And she'll like debunk them.
I will for sure I'm going to stalk her after this because I'm looking at her Oh she's a mom too I love that I'm looking at her Instagram right now And I love her content it looks very helpful Yeah and like she said like not all weight lifting builds actual strength and muscle Like she's always because she went to physical therapy school And so I think she like really comes at it from a science-based perspective And I think she's a good one to follow Oh I love that okay I know what I'm going to do after this I'm going to stalk her Yeah
Can I give you another rose? Yes, please. So I guess this isn't as much a rose, more of just like something that was really fun that I did in Florida and it was kind of eye-opening. So I've told you guys, like my parents live a very thriving life in Florida. They have a lot of friends. Like they have a very great tight-knit community. And some of the girls knew that I was going to be there all alone. So they invited me to a wine night. So it's like my mom's friends.
Dead. I saw a dead. It was so fun. Like, it was like me. And I mean, I would say the youngest was probably like upper 40s or low 50s all the way up until like 70. Oh my gosh. It was great. It was like me and moms and grandmas. But something that was so apparent to me was like,
Like, no matter what age you are, everyone is the same. Like, the things that they were talking about, the problems they had, and it reminded me that life doesn't end at a certain age. Like, one of the ladies, I think she's in her 70s, just got back from a South Asia cruise. Another one was talking to me about, like,
these like funny issues she was having with her dogs and another was talking about moving and like all these things and I was like life doesn't end when you're 30 or when you become a mom or a grandma like life just continues and it was a very nice thing to witness
One thing that I think is really cool that your parents did though was like they adjusted to their age, right? Like they didn't just stay back in Minnesota. Like they very much so moved to a community where I feel like everyone's reinventing themselves. You know what I mean? Like,
Like they're embracing their age and their phase of life. Oh yeah. And like, so was ever, so was everybody around them, which is like something I want to do. And Harrison and I talk about it a lot. We're like, when we're empty nesters, like we're not just going to like stay here and do the same thing. Like we're going to go do something different. And I think that's something so cool about these girls is they probably all have that in common.
And like to be around that I think would be invigorating because it's aspirational for you as you age. Yeah. And it was just so nice to hear because like no shade to Minnesota. But if my parents are back in Minnesota, I don't think I would be hearing those types of conversations or like people doing fun things with their life. But in this place, I feel like in Florida, a lot of people, um,
like our transplants, they come there and they want like that snowbird lifestyle. They want to do like fun things. I don't know. It was just like very nice to hear all different ages talking about still like all this fun that they're having in life and like all these places they still want to see and travel. And it was very refreshing to hear because I was like, I'm not panicked to be 30 at all. I'm so excited to be 30. But I think I do have like this idea in my head that
the older I get, life might not be as fun. But now I'm like, screw it. Like, life can be so fun even at 50, 60, 70, 80. Yeah.

Making new friends Imagine like if you never Made new friends Right Like even Even at 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 Like you had just never Really made a new friend Like I think you would Become stagnant Because like the people Around you are always Doing what they're doing But for your parents Like they had to make New friends When they moved To Florida And
Now, like, they go, they challenge themselves. They go do, like, they learned all over again. Like, it's another cycle of life, which I think is a really cool thing to do. And it's fun for you guys. Like, now you go home to Florida. Yeah. I mean, my parents are both in their 60s and they've met,
The people that they've met in this neighborhood will most likely be the friends for the rest of their life. So it's like, yeah, you don't stop making friends at any age, which I love to hear because I don't know. I guess when I was younger, I was like, oh, you're just friends with your high school friends forever. That's it. The end. I know. But that can be it. Yeah. Yeah.
You know what I mean? Like that can be the end of the story. Yeah. Your college friends that that can be it or it is what you make it. And so I think it's really cool when you have examples of people that are like, no, we moved like we didn't like life didn't just end as like we it began again. Yeah. So it was just really nice and refreshing. Also, the lady hosting me like a full charcuterie board and stuff and brought had so much wine. It was like a dream.
So you like walked over? Yeah, I just walked over to her house and then I like hung out with all the ladies and I stayed a little later and hung out with her and her husband. And I was like, this is great. Like I just felt very full and I haven't felt that way in a long time. Oh my gosh. Okay, wait. So that's the cutest thing on the planet. How many girls went? It was one, two, three, four, five.
I like can't handle this. I think this is like the coolest thing ever. And it was so funny because like the masters were going on. So she was like, my husband's just going to sit in the bedroom and watch the masters. And us girls are going to have the living room in the kitchen. And we're just going to chat and gossip and have food. And it was, I just loved it. And I also loved it too, because I don't know, like not that this is, this hasn't been the case in my life.
but it has been in the past where like you sit with girls and there's all these snacks, like no one ever touches the snacks. It's like, no, these girls, everyone was like indulging and drinking wine. And it was just, I loved it. Like there was no more charcuterie at the end of the night. Oh my God. You know what? There's always charcuterie left. That's such a funny point. Like no one ever touches the snacks. Like we do need to touch the snacks. I remember in Minnesota, like we would have these girls nights and like I would come home and my mom would be like,
Were there snacks? Was there good food? I was like, no, there was no food. No, we were all really hungry. Yeah. I was like, can I eat dinner now? Yeah. You have to eat after you leave. Wait, have you, do any of the girls work? Like does anybody in the community still work or is it mainly they're all retired? Um, like in like that little group I was with her, like as a whole.
Well, I'm kind of asking both, but I guess like more specifically the group you were with. Well, yeah. So as a whole, tons of people still work because like there's people of all ages. My parents, neighbors are my age. Like there's it's a community from like 20s all the way up. But out of that little group, two people still worked. One left retirement and started working again. And the other she's still pretty young. So she was still working.
Okay. I love it. I think that they invited you and you went is like the coolest thing ever. It was literally so much fun. I was like, I love this. I was like, I want to go back and hang out with you guys. I also love hanging out with older people. I love older people. I've always felt like I clash better. Not clash. I mix better with older people. Yeah. I recently have decided I definitely feel the same way. Yeah. I don't know what it is. I've always felt like an old soul.
But even when I was younger, I didn't ever want to hang out with people my age. I know. I wonder, growing up, were you around your parents' friends a lot? Kind of. But usually, when my parents had people over, I would just hang out in my room by myself. I just preferred to be alone or with my mom. Right. Yeah. I don't know why...
Older people. I don't know what it is. I don't know like the rhyme or reason behind that. Yeah, I don't either. Okay, we cannot chat too much before we get into our topic this time. Correct. We got it. Let's dive in. I actually do have one more thing I wanted to bring up. Is it airport dad? Yes. What is it? I'm dying to know. Okay, so I was going to ask you, have you ever heard that term?
No. Okay, so I read this in a book. It's Abby Jimenez's new book. And I read this and I was like, this is really cute because I feel like we both have an airport dad in Harrison and Pete. So I'm going to read the little thing. It's about her...
This girl named Samantha, she's like in love with this boy. And this is one of the reasons she loves him. But she says he was an airport dad. The guy who plans everything and drives you there and parks the car, lifts all the heavy bags, carries the passports to make sure everyone gets to where they're going and they have what they need. It wasn't just me who got to shut off their brain around him. It was anyone lucky enough to be in the same place as him. And I was like, that's really cute. But that's like something I feel like people really look for in partners. Yeah.
They do. And do you remember the trend? It was a year ago or maybe two years ago of like this. It was a girl going through the airport and she was just like on her phone the whole time. And he had all the passports and he was carrying everything. And she was just like me to do to do to do like you don't even have to think because he'll just get you through. That was my mom. My mom was the airport mom for sure.
say my mom was the airport mom but we but we and we have Harrison's the airport dad I'm not the airport mom I Pete is the first person in my life where I am slowly becoming less of the airport person because he is so good about like making sure we have everything he's so in control and I'm like slowly noticing I'm like slacking and I kind of love it I'm like yeah this is nice I don't have to worry about this plan I don't have to worry about it he can take care of it
It's the best thing ever. And it's a good segue into our... I mean, it's part of the topic, I feel like. So today's topic, we're talking about I don't need a man. This concept of people being like, I don't need no man. But I had seen this video and it was this girl being like, I do. I got to pay these bills. I got these kids. I definitely need them when the trash needs to go out. And it was...
I just think like, no, of course, if you're listening, of course you don't need a man, right? But I also don't think we need to be so hard on them, right? Like you got to give the boys their flowers because like they're great. Yeah, I think it's more so let's stop this trend of like I hate men or it's –
it makes you look weak or it's frowned upon if you say you love your boyfriend or you love a man. Like there was this trend going around and it's like, it's the God forbid trend on TikTok and people would be like, you hang out with your boyfriend too much. You do everything with your husband and it's like, God forbid I like the person I married. God forbid I actually like the person I'm dating. It's like, why is it so negative to love spending time with your man or loving having your man around? Yeah.
Right, like awesome if you don't need one, but fabulous if you have one and you love them. You know, like this and I think is true. And I was just, what was I going to say? Okay, what did you just say? I do this lately. The God forbid trend, like God forbid I marry a man that I love being around or a boyfriend I love being around.
Oh, yes. I saw a girl post. I don't need nobody. And then the camera turns to this guy and he's like, hi, I'm nobody. I pay her bills. I fill up her car. I wash her car. I take out the trash. I bring in the groceries, but I'm nobody, you know? And it's like, some people are quick to be like, I don't need nobody. And then he's like, really, really? Okay. Cause your cell phone, I don't even think you know how you pay yourself. Yeah.
No, that's so true. I remember I used to be a bit of a man hater a few years ago. And my therapist used to tell me this. She'd be like, you have to stop saying you hate men and you hate all men because she's like, what you put out is going to come back towards you. So if you keep saying, oh, I hate men, I don't need men, like you're going to put that energy out and you're not going to find that person one day. And I was like,
you know what? I never thought of it that way. And then I started to shift my mindset and I was like, I only hate some men, but I love the others. Right. Right. Like, yeah. Like, you know, it's, it's all, I feel like it's like a kindness mentality, right? Like we're definitely not saying you need a man. We're just saying if you have one, it's okay to like them. Right. And I think that that's, I think it's really sweet. Yeah. Because you know what? Um,
They're like some some men might say that about girls like how like there's some bad ones out there, too Yeah, right. I just like as in anything. There's this guy though online Okay, his I haven't followed him yet, but if I get served one more video I'm just like not his target demographic But if I get one more video, I think I'm gonna hit the follow on him He and if you guys know I'm talking about if you get his profile on Instagram he his bio says
Beach in Nashville. It's all I know about him. But he he posts these like guy positive content. So the one I got yesterday was like boys will call it stupid. Men will understand. And then and then the next thing is it's no roster.
talking to one girl and really loving her. And he does this like positive type content of like, uh, be the guy of her dreams. But if you want to be the guy of her dreams, you have to start building before you've ever met her. Right. Like be the, be the put in the work before you meet the girl. Um, so you're ready whenever you meet her. Like he does this content that people probably would have made fun of a few years ago, but today it's like, wow, that's really like mature and cool. And I like, love it. Like, it's cool to be the nice guy content. Yeah.
Yeah, you don't have to have like the roster is not like dope. It's like, dude, come on. I love that. I hope that like the algorithms listening and they will start serving me his content. That's cute. Yeah.
I like we are not the demographic like we but I just like the idea of being like no there's like a whole group of us out there of these guys that are just like no like I want to you know I don't need to go do it this way I want to do it like a different way which is a little nicer I saw this tick tock and it was when we cry it was like this girl being like how lucky are we to have dad she was like my dad and
woke up before me just so he could scrape my car and then he stayed up to make sure I got to he stayed up until I texted him that I got to work safe because the weather was bad and I was like that is so cute
You guys, the rumors are true. Push-up bras are back and they're better than ever. And I have been seeing the viral Skims Ultimate Bra all over my feed. I really have on TikTok and on Instagram. And so I had to try it for myself. And let me tell you, I have been going to the Skim store here in Austin and I have been buying up like crazy. For real, I actually have. It's in the domain. And so here's the thing. I've got all the Fits Everybody collection. I love the underwear. I love the triangle bra. I love the triangle bra.
But today we're talking about the push-up bra because other push-up bras, they can be bulky, they can be heavy, they can be like, they can add in all the wrong places. But this one from Skims, you guys, it lifts and it supports you like no other bra you've tried before. And it honestly looks kind of like you got a boob job, which for a mom that's been breastfeeding, that's ideal.
Um, so you guys need to get in on the teardrop pushup bra and they have the ultimate strapless pushup bra. Both of them are absolutely incredible and they're perfect for summer shop, the skims ultimate bra collection and more at skims.com and skims New York flagship on fifth Avenue. And after you place your order, be sure to let them know we sent you select podcast and the survey and be sure to select our show and the dropdown menu that follows happy pushup bra this summer.
No, that is the sweetest thing on the planet. I know this episode is turning into just us talking about TikToks that we've seen.
And not to just piggyback off of that one, but did you, and this one like made the news. Do you see the girl walking on the treadmill in college? And she had texted her parents that she was having a rough time. No. And they lived, they lived like five, a five hour flight away from her. And the video is them walking up to her. Oh my God. It gives me chills. And like, she stops the treadmill and she just goes and gives them both the big hug. It was so sweet. Oh, it's going to make me want to cry.
I know. Oh my God. Wait, but speaking of wanting to cry, well, we have to talk about our show at some point. Sorry. It made me want to cry today. Oh my God. I forgot about the show. Um, episode six. Yes. Did you cry? I didn't cry. I was, I, I was angry. Oh, why? Because I can't tell if that new woman, what's her name? That's entered the chat.
Yeah, the new mom. Yeah, I'll just say the new mom. I can't tell if she is actually trying to help Natalia or if she's just trying to steal her money, like her Social Security, her benefits that she receives on Medicare. I'm like, I don't know her motive.
I know. The other... I'm exhausted and confused because I don't know... Somebody's lying. I don't know if it's Christine and I don't know if it's Natalia Grace. Like, I'm very confused of which one of them is telling... That's the name. Cynthia. Yes. Cynthia. Cynthia Manns. I thought Cynthia was for sure a phony. I think she definitely wants some of her money. But, like, I do... As of right now, I thought...
she was nice. Like, I think she needs the money, but I think she's kind and nice. Yeah. I, once again, I just feel so gaslit and it's hard because now, well, now it's easier for me to wrap around my brain to wrap around it. Cause like we talked about last week, the first episodes were Christine's point of view and now they're Natalia's, but now Christine and Michael aren't in these episodes. And so we're just seeing Natalia. So now I'm like,
I want to see her point of view when Christina and Michael are around more. Like, it's hard because they're not in the picture. I know. What I also... What's getting me is, like, what doctors did they take her to that they decided she was 22? Because, like, this Cynthia Manns takes her to one doctor who just, like, catches that her growth plates aren't closed. So, like, she can't be 22. And it's, like, that to me...
It's just wouldn't be that hard to figure out. Also back then, not even just a doctor in urgent care. Yeah. Like that. She did one scan, you know, like something about Christine and Michael is, but I know we're just getting it from her point of view. I'm so confused. I just, I'm not buying them. I know because like,
We've gotten these like crazy facts from both sides, like with Christine and Michael. Christine was like the period, the hair. So like that makes you think, OK, so she has to be like an older girl. But then you see Natalia and you're like the growth plates, how she acts. So she must be a young girl. It's like it's so hard for my brain to decipher who is telling the truth and who's lying.
But I wonder with dwarfism, can she, like, it sounds like she had one period. Well, that's the thing too. It's like, did she, has she had a period since that one incident? I don't know. And then why was the tampon on the floor? Like the bloody socks. Okay. We solved that. Those are from her feet bleeding, which is like so sad, but there was the bloody tampon. Yes. Those are from her feet. Yeah. They're her feet bleeding, which was the right, like that was the shocker.
Wait, right? I thought that's what I gathered. No, you're so right. I didn't even think about that. Oh my God. That changes so much for me. I know. I'm like, but how did Christine not know that? Because she's the one that made her go outside and walk barefoot. So it's like her feet are bleeding. And then, but what I don't get is why was there a bloody tampon on the ground whenever she was doing that news show? Remember, she was like broadcasting and then she looked over there. That's what I can't figure out.
Yeah, I also didn't realize how abusive Christine got because like having any person walk around barefoot with bleeding feet, that's abuse. And then also they showed flashbacks of Christine hitting Natalia. And we didn't see that from Christine and Michael's standpoint. No, I saw her get mad, but we never like saw her get physical. So...
At the time, I'm glad they did Christine's perspective first because at the time I was like, this is infuriating. Like this person is gaslighting them and she is older. But then now fast forward to seeing that Natalia is actually young. I think she's just been like trafficked for profit.
And so I think she's just like confused and scared. And so she acts out and I think she does want to hit you and does want to push you and like does want to hurt you and just wants somebody to love her. So she wanted Michael to love her because Michael was nice, but Christine was mean. And so she was scared. Like, I guess it was all that.
Yeah, we've gotten so many DMs of people saying we need to watch the documentary of Natalia Grace and I don't want to watch that until I finish the show because I don't want my brain to like see different points of views. But people are saying it's like shocking the documentary because I think it's all about her.
So let's finish the season and then we'll watch that. Okay. Yeah. Because every DM we get, you have to watch documentary. You have to watch documentary. I'm like, okay, we will. But like, I just can't let that new evidence change the way I'm thinking about the show. I mean, no question. I agree. So what do we have? Two episodes left? Six, seven, seven and eight. Yeah.
Oh man that is wild I can't wait to see what happens with this new Cynthia Mann's family I know and also I'm like how are they gonna wrap this up in two more episodes like like I feel like there's a lot okay I guess we have to get back to her being on stage and then coming to arrest her right like that's our ending yeah but it's like when does that happen
Oh, juicy. Oh, because I guess she's ready to testify, right? So we'll see. Oh, man, it's going to get good. I like look. I love this show now. It's the only show that like keeps my full attention. You can't look away. It's like every moment is. Wow. OK, I'm excited that we have the documentary after it's over. Yes, me too. And I'm wondering, too, once the show fully airs, if more information will come out.
Yeah, and then I want to get to Googling. Like, where are they today? Right? I know it's been so hard not to do other research, but we've been behaving. Yeah, I think that we should just... I would assume Christine's in prison, but I don't know. We'll see. Yeah. Oof. Okay, should we do the listener question? Yeah, let's do it. Okay. I've really...
Listener question. I forgot to say that. Okay. I've been really struggling with some things and would love your advice. My boyfriend is three years older than me. I'm 20 now and we've been dating for almost two years. We've had a lot of ups and downs. He was actually friends with my brother before we started dating, but now my brother absolutely hates it and always trying to get my boyfriend to act out in front of me.
That's... I'm trying to compose myself before I say mean things. So...
First and foremost, it's like, okay, can the brother just knock it off and like stop impacting his sister's relationship? And two, like I don't mean this in like a mean way, but we've talked about this so many times that people don't usually get better. So if he's acting this way now, it's not like he's just going to necessarily grow out of it. I mean, he's 23, maybe 24. Like if he's acting this childish now and making you be his mother, it's just crazy.
From my past experiences, it's just going to get worse. Yeah, and I'm worried about us being 20. Yes. And only, like, there just seems to be a lot of problems this early. Like, it's such a young age. Like, you shouldn't have these types of problems with your future husband. Yeah, it just, you got a lot of life left to live. And, like, he, if there's, like, a lot of drinking involved and things, like, they're kind of just going through that very normal 20-year-old phase. Which, yeah.
It's tough. But I think you have to get that stuff out of your system. And...
I'm worried if she's like playing... Like she's also not getting to live her life. Like she's not getting to live her 20s if she's like being mom to him. I'm wondering if like it's a little too early to be... Like why did we commit? Was, you know, like so committal. What if we lived life a little longer and saw? What if we had a long engagement? Right? Just to check something. Just to do some checking. No, I completely agree. I always...
If I could ever give advice to anyone younger, it's like, don't marry the person you date in your teens and early 20s. Or don't get married, I would say. Because it's like, mainly men need so much time to grow up. Oh my God. Unless, I had some friends that did get married really young, right? And that worked out though, because those guys had, they just, they had the signs of like,
ready to get married right that it was giving I'm ready to get married young and yeah I'm just like I'm a family guy I'm fully committed blah blah blah like saw that so many times like this isn't giving like he's not 30 you know at 30 you can be like all right you need like it's time to you can tie him down now he's 20 you know like he is in that prime having fun probably living on his own like
So it's tough to have for you to have to be in the mom role. And like, it's also not fair to you because you should be hanging out with your friends and having fun. Yeah. No, I completely agree. I don't really know. The only advice I can really think of saying is what you said. And it's just...
Don't rush it anymore and just kind of make sure you live your life. Like don't allow his actions to prevent you from living your life and enjoying your young 20s. And just don't rush your relationship any more than it seems to be. Yeah, like in the brother component, like you're not going to be able to change your brother. But I think if you go to your fiance and say like, hey, this is affecting our relationship. The buck stops with you. It either stops or it doesn't.
It's in the fiance's court to do something with the ball if he wants to, but it's not sounding like the best situation. Yeah, I agree. It makes me sad. It makes me sad. Yeah, same, but it's just like, yeah, it's too bad. Okay, well, should we do some recs? Yes, what are your recs?
Okay, so my rec is the show Hacks. Have you heard of that show? It's on HBO Max? No. Is it a bunch of hacks? No. So it's a scripted show about a comedian and a writer. And it's just... She's a female comedian and it's a female writer. And they are just so opposite but so funny. It's one of those shows that...
I think I might have talked about it when I was watching season one. It's like one of the only comedies that I actually look forward to watching and it's like so good and well scripted. Like I audibly laugh out loud when I watch it. It's just such a good show. Oh, it's a happy show. It is, but it's like also very cynical and a little dark because they like sometimes hate each other and they're just mean to each other a lot, but it's so funny. Yeah.
I love that, though. And they're only like 20 minute or 20 to 30 minute episodes. Like they're fast paced. Oh, my God. It's season four just came out last week and I'm just I missed it. It was just it's such a good show. Okay, cute. I like that. I'm in on that. Okay. What are your recs? Okay. My recs.
are disposable towels. So I got them on Amazon and like they're, they're what you wash your face with. And they're like these eco-friendly towels. Have you seen them? I've seen the ones that you use to like dry your face, not actually like put soap on and wash. Or is that what you're saying? Like you use it to like dry your cleansed face. Well, the way I do, I put my face wash on and then I get my towel wet and I wipe it off. And then I use the other side of the towel to dry it off. So I can kind of do both. And yeah,
I read like if you unless you wash your towel every single time, it's always a little bit dirty. Yeah. So I was like, OK, what do I do? So I got these disposable towels and like I am absolutely loving them. And they were talking about how like the microfibers of a real towel is like too much exfoliant every time. So these are softer. And so it's I also just feel really clean. So they were on Amazon. They were so I don't know.
I'll also, we can post the link on the story. Um, and then the other thing is on shop. My, I got this thing and it was like, you know, do you want to try some beauty bio products? So I was looking at it and there were these bronzer drops and they had 45 SPF in them.
So I was like, let me get those. So I got them. And what I've been doing is I've been putting the bronzer drops with my moisturizer and it like gives me this like tan glow, but it also has like SPF in it. And so for summer, I think it's the best thing ever. Ooh, I just looked them up or I'm looking up right now. I love bronzing drops. They, I completely agree. They're like the perfect summer look, but I also love that there's SPF in them.
Yeah, I'm really into like, especially on my neck, I like really want to do the sun protection situation. But all the other sunscreens, even the tinted moisturizer sunscreens I have, they're so like
undertones. Like they're trying to be tinted, but like they're not. I like, I'm loving these bronzer drops. I'd never used them. So I'm very excited about it. If you need a good SPF, I really love the Elta MD UV Clear SPF. The tinted one I love on my face, but I love their untinted one for my neck and chest. Cause it's like not, it doesn't have like a white cast to it. And it's just like, it's very moisturizing and hydrating.
Oh, that's actually, I actually need to get that for my chest. Like I got a, and my neck too, because like these aren't going to go very far. I know that's something I really realized this past year is how much I neglected my chest with sunscreen. Like it truly looks so much older than my face. And I'm like, why did I do that?
I'm going to do a peel on my chest soon. Like it's wild. Yeah. It's like, they, they really always say like your decolletage neck and hands show your true age. I'm like, yeah, you better believe they do.
Yeah. And it's like, I honestly, I also wish I would have done skincare on my chest too. Like I wish I would have exfoliated it, done all that, but at least we notice it now and we can start doing it. Yes. I know. I always, I always put moisturizer on my chest now. And a little hack is like, if I get a moisturizer that I don't love on my face or any skincare product I don't love on my face, I just save it for my chest and my neck and I put it on there. Honestly, that's, that's genius because it needs some love. We can't fully neglect it. Right. Right.
But yeah, love. I love both of those recs. I really should be using those towels too because there is a lot of bacteria that gets stuck on our towels and it's kind of gross to wash your face and then dry it with a bacteria filled towel. Yeah, I couldn't unread it once I read it. I was like, oh, and then I got these. They're soft. Like it's a lovely experience, honestly. Cool.
