Hello my beautiful people and welcome back to the moments podcast. This episode may not be that long and it was an idea that came to me this morning when I woke up. I was supposed to record this episode yesterday and it just like didn't happen because I could not do it. I couldn't think of anything to talk about.

Because there's been so much going on in my mind, which is what ultimately led me to realizing what the heck I wanted to talk about. And I'm going to keep it real simple. No ramble jamble, no ADHD allowed in this episode. I'm getting to the point. We're going to talk about how to declutter your life. Because I'm someone with a very, very cluttered mind. I love clutter. I collect knickknacks of all kinds on every vacation that I go. I buy things at thrift stores. I buy things I don't need just because...

I give them some kind of meaning and I have an attachment to them and I want to put them on display. I have snow globes from Oregon and I have sloths stuffed animals, I'm looking at them right now, from Costa Rica and just the most random crap you'll ever see. I have like this random little mushroom statue that I got in some state that I couldn't even tell you right now and I'm so glad that I have all of it. But I have a lot of clutter and I don't think the clutter is going away anytime soon.

But there are so many things in my life that I could declutter and that I need to declutter and things that have actually been draining me. So when I give you this list of ways to declutter your life, it's a list for you and I to both work on over the next however many months because I know that this doesn't happen overnight. And if I tried to make it happen overnight, it simply wouldn't.

If you are someone who doesn't feel cluttered and isn't a hoarder, maybe this episode isn't for you. Maybe it is. If you're anything like me, I'm just going to give you some tips and tricks and things that I've thought of that I believe will make my life feel less like a freaking hot mess disaster. We're going to start with our notes app. Me and you are going to open our notes. We are going to

Delete all those old to-do lists, even if there's things that you never finished on there. I mean, I could go to my notes and find to-do lists from three months ago and still have things that I never got done. If I leave those on there, will I still be thinking about those things I didn't do? Yeah, three months later, I probably still will. If I delete it, it's gone. What I don't see can't hurt me, whatever that expression is. Delete it.

I want you to delete all of those like random things in your notes. I know it's fun to, you know, have them sometimes, trust me. But the one time a couple years ago, I cleaned out my notes app. It was the most freeing thing in the world. And cleaning it out doesn't mean you have to get rid of your old love letters that you used to write or the poems about heartbreak or...

The silly things that have meaning to you. But I'm talking, there's clutter in there. There is definitely clutter in there. You have like one liners. You have one letter notes and I want you to delete them. That way when you open your notes app, you're not immediately bombarded with all of this junk. I believe that you can live a maximalist life, but you know, minimize, minimize, minimize, whatever. You get the point. All the other things that you have going on like our notes app. That's number one.

The next one, and this is a really, really, really big one for me and I've been avoiding it since I moved into this house that I'm living right now. Since I moved into the duplex. I need to clean out my closet. I don't have much storage space. I don't have no big beautiful walk-in closet where I have a lot of places to put my clothes. I have one dresser and two tiny closets and

A lot of clothes. A lot of clothes I get in PR and I don't believe in like throwing clothes away so I usually hold on to them until I can find a friend to donate them to or until I go through them and then donate them to somewhere else like Goodwill or wherever it is or my little cousins. But point here is my drawers, drawer, drawer. Lisette always yells at me because I can't say drawer like I can't pronounce drawer or draft or draft. Everything gets confusing for me. Anyways,

I don't have that many places to put my clothes and they're all overflowing to the point where in my laundry room is where I keep all my pajamas and all my workout clothes and all my sweatshirts because there's physically nowhere to put them anywhere else in my room. My bathing suits just live in a basket on the floor in the middle of my room and I could eliminate a lot of things. My problem is when I go through my clothes, I look at everything and I'm like, huh, maybe one time for that one thing I could wear this shirt.

That one thing comes around and I buy a brand new freaking shirt. It makes no sense. Trust me. I understand. I don't know why I do it. I don't know why I keep it. And I know I'm not the only one like that because almost every other female that I talk to is the same way with clothes. If you haven't worn it in one month, no, let me give you three months. If you haven't worn it in three months, you're not going to wear it. There's a very, very, very high chance you are never going to put that on your body. Throw it away, not throw it away.

Donate it. Give it away. If you want to sell it, sell it. I personally get anxiety when it comes to Depop or Poshmark because I just... I don't know. I don't like it. Like what if creepers are buying my clothes? I don't know. Anyways, give away your clothes. Just get rid of them. I am feeling really strongly on this one because for the past like month, it's all I've been talking about is cleaning out my closet and I just haven't had a chance to do it because in my mind with my time blindness,

That would only take me an hour. No, no, no. Cleaning out your closet takes like, it's a whole day's event, if not two. I remember when I used to clean out my old bedroom with my mom, we would be cleaning out my room for a week straight because I've always been this way. I've always hoarded things and I've always wanted to keep everything because I just have attachments to everything. In my closet, and I'm not getting rid of this ever, I have a box of things I'm going to put in my scrapbook.

And no, I'm not talking like really monumental, memorable things to put in my scrapbook. Like I'm keeping wristbands from the club that I went to the one time that I went to Tallahassee that this happened and I met that person. Like I'm really, really attached to a lot of things. But one day they will go in my scrapbook and I know that for a fact. So I'm going to hold on to them. Point is, I've always held on to everything.

And I just am at a point in my life where I want to delete it all and I want to start over. I want a brand new wardrobe. I want a fresh phone with absolutely nothing on it. But I know that that's not an option. One, because financially that's a really stupid move when I have the power to just clear things out myself. And also just, no, like I'm not going to take the easy way out. I need to put in the work and I need to declutter my life. I need to be the driver in my own life. Next. Next.

Clean out your oh this one this one you guys this one hits me really hard Stabs me in the heart and this one might not be as relatable for as many people Personally, I am an iphone photographer and I photograph every single thing that I see ever all the time and i'm also Hate the word, but I am an influencer. So every time everything I do i'm taking little video clips. I'm taking little pictures i'm also

Obsessed with filming everything. When I'm hammered, I am recording and I have 10 minute videos on my phone. Don't know why. All this being said, it has led me to have, brace yourself, hold your horses, 220,000 photos and videos on my phone. 220,000 photos and videos. If you know anyone that can top that number, I will hand deliver them a $100 bill because

It's disgusting. Like, what do I have so many pictures of? I don't know. And I really need to go through it. And last night, I was so proud of myself, I finally sat down to delete some things. I watched a whole episode of Bridgerton because Lisette says I have to watch it. Didn't get that into it, but it was really good. But while I was watching...

I was just sitting and scrolling and deleting everything I could on my phone. I deleted 2,000 videos. In my head, I was like, this is incredible. We're making so much progress. My videos went from 20,000 to 18,000 after an hour.

So cleaning out my phone is going to take a really, really, really long time, but I'm determined. That is my number one goal. That is going to make me feel so much better. I don't think you guys understand how much I think about it. This is just another pointer, life tip. If you can't stop thinking about it, just do it. If it's a chore or if it's draining you thinking about it, I promise you it's going to drain you a lot less if you just do the task.

The anticipation about it is going to be way worse than the doing of it. Next up.

While you're cleaning out your photos, your videos, make albums. Make albums for... I do this for my friends. Like, I have... Well, when I was decent at organizing all my videos and stuff, a very, very, very long time ago, all my best friends have an album where I put all the little video clips of them, all my pictures with them. It makes birthdays easier. It makes... I don't know. It just makes things easier. I like it a lot. You could have an album for really pretty videos of the earth or really pretty videos of...

Don't know whatever it is. You want just make albums. It makes life easier than scrolling through your whole camera roll Especially if you have a lot of photos like me if not, maybe it's not that big of a deal next up this one might be personal I Love when people have contact pictures and I hate when I don't like the way that people's contacts look it makes me physically not want to open my messages or my voicemails or anything like that and

So take a day in the next couple months, talking to myself here, and go add all those contact pictures. You have pictures with most of the people you talk to on the daily. Give them a contact picture or take them all away. But just make everything a little bit more unison. I like when my house is busy and colorful. I don't like it so much when my contacts are all busy. I like them a little bit simple, you know, a nice photo and a name. If you're really special, you get an emoji. Next up we have...

Monthly subscriptions. Please, dear God, please go cancel. I just had to do this. That's why I feel so strongly about it. Cancel your monthly subscriptions. I've been paying for so many things. So many things that I didn't know I was paying for. And I think that if you're younger...

This might not be as much of an issue. My mom was always like on top of like what I was paying for because a lot of times my monthly subscriptions were on her credit card if it was through Apple, whatever. Now I have my own Apple ID, my own credit card, debit card. So I pay my own bills. I'm very financially independent. That being said, you should never give someone with a squirrel brain a credit card because I sign up for things and I'm like, oh, you know, I'm just going to get it for the month, use it while I need it, and then I'll cancel it. No, Lexi, you're not going to cancel it because you're dumb.

Sorry for the negative self-talk. You're dumb stupid and you forget a lot of things. Um Let me let me rephrase that I have a really hard time remembering when I sign up for things and I End up paying a lot of money. So

Yesterday, I started this. I canceled. I've been using Pro's shampoo and conditioner for a long time. And they sent me one set of their shampoo and conditioner to do an ad for the podcast. I loved it. So then, on my own, I went and subscribed for the hair supplements. They've been sending them to me for like five months now, and I'm still, I think, on the first bottle of them. So I finally canceled that until I can at least get caught up with what I already have.

And that was not cheap. I was paying, I think like $60 a month or maybe even more than that, uh, for, for something that I haven't even touched. And don't get me wrong. I'm going to use it. I do really like this stuff, but it was unnecessary. I also have a membership at a tanning salon for tanning beds. I used to go in the tanning bed, like in the winter months, you can catch me in there like once every couple of weeks because girl, I just can't be pale. I can't do it. It makes me go insane. It

I don't use the tanning bed. Like I haven't been there in months and I've been paying for this monthly subscription and I'm like, dude, I have to go cancel that. So I have to go in person to cancel that one. I can't do it over the phone. So that's on this week's list. Uh, the YMCA, I don't go to the YMCA paying for it monthly. Uh, hot works. I don't go to hot works paying for it monthly, but I actually am going to keep that because I would like to go to hot works again and

I really like hot works. If you guys have any in your like local area, you should probably go. It's a really cool thing. It's like an individual sauna and they have workouts in there, but I don't do the workouts. I literally just go chill in the sauna and usually edit TikToks or maybe do a 10 minute abs. I don't know, but they're all over and you should do it. And I'm trying to get a code. That would be cool. Anyways, talk about that at a later date. Let me know if you want to try hot works and I can tell you more. And then I was paying for a bunch of other random crap monthly. Let's move on to the next thing because I'm doing the ramble jamble thing.

Organize your Spotify. This one is fun. This one is so fun. Listen, I don't know if any of you guys hang out with Mary Jane. This is a fun thing to do, I would imagine, because music hits different. If you don't know what I'm talking about, doesn't matter. Organize your Spotify.

Clear it out. Clean it out. Get deep in there. Make those deep, really niche playlists that you've always wanted to make. They're very fun to have. And every once in a while, I remember to do this. I'd say like once every couple of months, I go through my Spotify for like two hours and just have fun with it. It makes me feel good. It'll make you feel good. And it makes me feel a little bit more... Whoa, did you guys hear that car? A little bit more decluttered in your life, I believe. Next up, we have...

what did i write down clean out your fridge um if you live with your family disregard if you live on your own you probably have some tomatoes in the back that might be rotting uh some lemons some some spinach that you never used in your green smoothies uh just clean it out and you know wipe it down too while you're at it i i try to do that one often but you know sometimes things get lost in the back of it we all we all we all have our things next

Everybody and their mothers has a junk drawer. I hope that you have a junk drawer. I honestly don't trust anyone that doesn't have a drawer of junk. See, I can't say drawer. Drawer, drawer. Shut up. I don't trust you if you don't have a place where you just keep all your miscellaneous things. I'm talking random cash, stickers, scissors,

What else would be in a junk drawer? I have everything. Random keys that you don't know where they go to, markers, pens, SD cards, headphones, whatever it is. All sorts of things. Organize it. It's going to get messy again. That's the beauty of the drawer. But do your best to just clean it out. There's a bunch of garbage in there and you know it. You know you're not going to look at that receipt from six months ago ever again. Just take it out. Throw it out. You don't need it. What else do we have here?

Lisette just texted me. She's stopping by. Okay, let's finish this bad boy up because I can't record when people are here. She'll stress me out. Next up we have answer your unread texts, okay?

answer them or delete them one or the other. I have gotten to a point where my phone has had 700 unread messages. Not kidding. Literally not kidding. And a lot of those come from, I don't know, PacSun texting me 50% off today. Buy one, get two free, yada, yada, yada. I just don't open those, but just go delete them. It'll feel really, really nice to see your messages only say one, two, not 400 or 50, but

And if you're good at answering your texts, I applaud you because I have a really hard time with answering my texts Let me tell you next up. We have Delete old emails just get rid of them go through it delete them all it's gonna feel really good. I promise you next up we have Organize your skincare You probably have so much crap in your bathroom that you don't even know is there and instead of buying new face wash every time

You feel like it. Just make sure you don't already have any stored in the back. I know that personally, every time I get PR, I keep all of the things and I just organize them. Organize was definitely the wrong word. I throw them all in my closet. And then if I run out of the face wash that I usually use, instead of going through my backup supply, I just buy a new one from CVS. And I'm really working on not doing that one because...

I already do enough of that and I'm trying not to. Two, because I need to save some money. I really got to budget a little bit more. And if I have the opportunity to get these things sent to me, I'm going to use them. And everything I don't use in my PR, I end up giving to my mom or my best friend or family friends or donating.

And the next one I have, get a calendar. Dude, get a calendar. It is going to make you feel so good and so organized. And even if you forget to use it all the time like I do, it's still really comforting to know that it is there and I can use it.

And I remember to put like therapy appointments on there, doctor's appointments on there. And yes, do I still forget about things and do I miss them? A hundred percent. But it definitely makes me better at remembering all of the things I have going on and all of the things that I need to do. Next up I have get a hard drive. If you're someone who's got a really cluttered computer, get a hard drive.

Clean it out and clear up some storage. Get a hard drive. If you're a school girlie, put all your school assignments on there and you can organize them by year, by class, by whatever you want. If you're a video girlie or a vlog girl or whatever it is, put all those on a hard drive. I'm speaking from the heart because my computer barely works. I can barely use the mouse because it glitches so bad because it is so out of storage. We're working on it. We're working on it one step at a time.

The next one, this is a personal attack. I know you have a lot of bags. I'm talking you have a going out bag, your backpack, you have your tote, you have your beach bag. Go through all those bags. There's probably a bunch of hidden gems in there that you don't even know are in there anymore. And you should probably, you know, get them and clear them out and then just organize it all.

Those are the things I'm going to be doing in the next month or so to declutter my life because God, will that feel good? Like so good. My goal is to get my camera roll from 220,000 videos and pictures to maybe 100,000. Even that is questionable. Maybe 80,000 would be really awesome. That's really the goal. Anyways, I'm not going to take up all your time.

I'm gonna just tell you to go declutter your life and you can take all those tips and you can do it and I believe in you and it's gonna feel really good. When we declutter the things in our physical life, it also really helps declutter our mind because I don't know, I'm someone who likes to do actions. Like if I'm having really negative energy, I like to like jump around, move my body, dance it out and physically envision myself moving it through my body and out of my body.

Same thing goes for mind clutter. Like if I'm physically decluttering things, even if they have nothing to do with what's actually cluttering my brain, I will feel much lighter. And I'm sure that that's something that applies to a lot of people. So this episode is simply a reminder to declutter your life and declutter your mind and baby steps. You got this, okay? I love you and I'll talk to you soon. Thanks for coming to the Moments Podcast. You're the best.
