Hello my beautiful people and welcome back to the moments podcast It is currently a thursday morning and I just ate a really fat massive breakfast and leia really wants to go on a walk But i'm gonna chat with you guys before I take her on a little walky walk because she's spoiled and she gets to go all the time um

But I'm excited to chat. I just want to tell you what's been on my mind and what I've been thinking about and what I've been trying to learn about and focus on and prioritize in my life because we know all the things I'm thinking about and prioritizing, it shifts around like faster than, I don't know, a roller coaster or something. Right now, what I've been thinking a lot about is listening to my body. And you've heard it before and people always say, listen to your body. If you don't want to work out, don't work out. And

That's exactly what I mean, but in every aspect of life. Our body is this... And then I'm going to kind of talk about how we can take care of our body so that our body tells us better things. It'll make sense as I go. Probably not, but I'm going to do my best. Our body tells us so many different things about what we should be doing. It tells us what we should be thinking. It has a lot of control over us. It is also the vessel...

that helps us walk, it helps us swim, it is this beautiful thing that fully takes care of itself basically on its own. We just control the gas that we give it. Like are we giving it premium? Are we giving it diesel? Are we putting olive oil in our body for gas to fuel it? There are so many different things going on in our body too. There's so many different organs at work. There's your heart at work. There's, well I guess your heart is an organ, but there's so many factors

that affect the way that our body treats us. And there are so many things that we can do to treat our body properly. And when you can coexist with your body and you guys can work together and build a... what's that relationship called? Like a symbiotic relationship? No. Whatever it is. The word where you benefit each other. Two organisms or whatever it is benefit one another. That's the kind of relationship you want to create with your mind and your body and honestly everything else in between.

Once you can do that, life seems to feel a lot better. We are all so exhausted. Like we are tired. We are in a society where everything is so fast and so go. And I'm pretty sure this comes up in every single podcast episode that we do because it's so real. And unfortunately, it kind of seems no matter how much we talk about it,

how exhausted we all are, more things keep happening that make us even more exhausted. Like the world just gets faster and we can't keep up with it. But what we can do is, you know, give ourselves a little bit of compassion and grace and just manage our time differently to where we can have the best of both worlds. We can succeed and thrive in a society that moves so quickly, but we can also feel stillness and calm

within ourselves and when we have the time to do so. You just got to rearrange your days. So I'm just going to kind of take you through the different things I've been doing to teach my body to feel better. And I've probably touched on these before, but I'm going to put them all in one spot now. So they're all in one episode.

And then after I tell you that, I'm going to tell you the ways that I listen to my body and why we should all be listening to our bodies. And quick side note, I recorded a podcast with a really, really, really cool lady. Her name is Joyce. I recorded it with her yesterday. And I'm going to put the link in the description if you want to go listen to that. It was a more mom-based audience. So if you are trying to like work on your relationship with your mom,

Or you just are trying to get across to your mom, like, the things that you go through and the things that you feel and the things that social media has done to mess us up all in our mind. I totally recommend you sending her this episode because I think it could be very valuable because...

I learned that my relationship with my mom got a lot better when we could actually discuss the things that were on my mind because it's not something that the older generation can always understand what it's like to have constant comparison on social media and I'm not going to get too into it. You guys can tune into that episode if you want. I actually really enjoyed doing it and it made me really excited to have more guests on the Moments podcast. I just, the weeks keep flying by and I keep not organizing things and yada, yada, yada. I'm figuring it all out.

Back to the point here. Here's how I take care of my body. Let's start with number one, nutrition, because this is a really, really big one. And I'm going to do a whole episode once I get the chance to study up on nutrition more in depth and what foods do what for us and why we should be incorporating all of them at different times in our cycle and all these things. There's so much to keep up with and there's so much to learn, but nutrition

We'll get there. I also, I get so hard on myself when I don't know everything right away when I read it one time. And then I realize I'm 22 years old and I have so much time to learn things in my life. I don't have to know it all right now. So I'm giving myself grace right there. And it'll come when it's meant to come and it'll stick when it's going to stick. But here's what I do know about nutrition. Starting off really strong.

Your body needs food. Your body deserves food. There is nothing that you have to do to deserve it. You just existing means you deserve it. The food that you put into your body is the fuel that is going to carry you forward through your days, through your weeks, through your months. And it is going to affect the way that you feel so incredibly powerfully. Was that grammatically correct? Probably not.

But what you're putting into your body makes a difference in the way that you look, you feel, everything in between. And I'm going to keep saying it because it's crazy that I finally have learned the difference. And...

I've finally gotten myself to a point where I actually enjoy eating healthier foods. And I don't like saying like healthy and unhealthy, but I'll use the word nutritious instead. Nutritious foods and making sure that I'm incorporating spinach and kale and greens and fruits like anti-inflammatory pineapple and having mangoes and strawberries and blueberries for antioxidants and taking the ginger shot once in a while.

Or drinking carrot juice after I'm in the sun because it helps me keep a tan longer. Or having a kombucha once in a while for my gut health and making sure I drink enough water. All of those things actually make you act different. You have more energy, more motivation.

More happiness, I want to say. Like, I think that when I'm eating a balanced diet, I just feel more endorphins flowing through my brain. I'm in a better mood because I'm not hungry and irritable. And I noticed that the days in the past where I have, for whatever reason, if I'm busy or if I was, I don't know, struggling. Sorry, I just got a phone call. But if there were any days in the past where I didn't eat a lot in the day or I really only ate, like, snacks, I get really, really hangry and really, really irritable.

And I don't want to talk to anyone. And when I do talk to people, I'm mean. And I don't want to feel those things. So pay attention to what you're putting in your body. And yes, fuel your soul, okay? Eat your mac and cheese and the donuts, but not excessively. And that is something I used to really struggle with. I don't want to say I struggled with...

Okay, I apologize. I had to take a brief pause because Lissette faced me like three times and I thought there was an emergency and she just needed to know if we were working out later. I was like, dude, really? Right now? Clearly if I ignore you the first two times, leave me alone unless it's a really big important thing. Anyways, then I got a little bit distracted and I started petting Leah and now we're back. No idea where I left off, but we're talking about taking care of our body. So moving on from the nutrition,

Well, actually one more thing about the nutrition I'm just gonna kind of give you a rundown of what I do what I eat and why it makes me feel good I eat eggs every single morning for protein. I like to throw a chicken sausage in there. Those are my favorite You know you saute it up real nice I always throw spinach in my eggs get my greens in drink a beet juice or carrot juice or something in the morning Sometimes I'll put cheese. I don't know. I'm really trying to do not that much dairy, but it doesn't work well for me I toast a piece of toast

and then put some butter on that and I eat it all together and it's so good and delicious and I like to eat some fruit too if I have it. Like when I buy groceries and I actually have food in my fridge, I eat so much better. I'm not going out for every single meal but if I don't have groceries that's when I get lazy and that's when I just start eating out because I don't know what else am I gonna do and there's nowhere healthy that I eat out. I feel like everywhere I choose to eat out is just kind of very processed, not the best things for my body.

And when I snack throughout the day, I like to eat a lot of nuts because my body reacts really well to healthy fats, which is why I've been trying to eat more avocado. It helps my brain because I still need to tell you guys all about my brain scan. I'm going to do that. I promise you guys, I'm slowly getting my life together. It's just, there's so many different things going on. And like I'm telling you guys, you've got to listen to your body. And listening to my body lately has just been taking it one step at a time, one day at a time, prioritizing my last few things.

months with my best friend, you know, having a boyfriend, all that jazz, figuring it out, working on the new house. I can't really keep my head screwed on straight, but I'm doing the best I can. And when I get to that brain scan thing, I'm going to tell you all about it because it's pretty freaking epic. Long story short though, I learned I need to eat more healthy fats. And then for lunch, I don't know what I have for lunch. Usually I

Like a sub. I really like sandwiches. So deli meat, cheese, some hummus, snack on some gluten-free pretzels and hummus. Oh, that's like my favorite snack ever, actually. I want some right now. And then what else? What else? For dinner, I like to have some kind of protein or meat. I usually go to Lisette's house for dinner just because I don't like cooking dinner in my small kitchen. I hate when it smells like chicken in here. But when I do cook here, I'll make some chicken, some rice, and then I'll make some rice.

It's like such a Jimbo meal to have, but I really like it with some vegetables and throw some sauces on there. It's so good. I also just got an air fryer. So I bought salmon and the other day I made these little chicken nuggets. I breaded them, put them in the air fryer. It was a good first attempt, but they definitely need some work. So keep you updated on that, how that goes. Once I learn how to properly execute my chicken nuggets, I'm going to let you know how to do it. Probably on TikTok.

But that's all we got for nutrition. And I'm really saying all these things because these are not things that I do consistently forever and have been doing for a really long time. They're things that I get consistent with for a little while and then I lose sight of and I lose track of, which is really frustrating because I wish I could just keep it consistent and take care of myself all the time. But I don't. But I am in a phase of doing it right now, so I might as well tell you while it's all fresh in my mind.

There's also nothing wrong with that, though. As long as you're doing what you can when you can, it doesn't have to be all or nothing, and that's a constant reminder I have to tell myself because I'm just so all or nothing for no reason. It's terrible. Besides paying attention to what you eat, I also want you to really, really pay attention to what you consume. Not physically, but mentally or figuratively, I guess, and literally, whatever.

What are you watching online? What are you reading? What are you spending your free time doing? Are you scrolling through TikTok and just watching people with lives that you wish you had and being jealous? Or are you watching people on TikTok who inspire you? Or your explore page? Are you sitting there and scrolling through and judging yourself and comparing yourself? Or are you scrolling through and finding more ways to love yourself? And are you learning new recipes?

Are you taking in things that are going to make you feel good mentally? Because it's so easy to compare online and it's something that we all do and we do have the control to alter what it is that we consume. You don't have to see people that make you jealous if you don't want to. They have not interested buttons for a reason. And a lot of the times we don't bring ourselves to use them because we're just almost so used to being jealous.

uncomfortable with ourselves and upset with ourselves and wishing that we had more that we don't feel any need to change it because we've gotten so accustomed to it. We're just stuck with it kind of. But once you can have that awareness and make that realization that you have the power to change what you're consuming, it changes everything. You can shift the way that you feel. You can shift the way that your day-to-day feels.

Because you're no longer thinking about what you don't have. You begin to start realizing what you do have and what you can do and how you can make this recipe in five minutes with things that you already have in your kitchen. Those are the kind of things that are going to make you feel a lot better than here's this designer bag that I just bought for my dog. You deserve to feel good. You deserve to know that you're worthy and you're valuable and you're beautiful enough and I know that it's hard.

But what I recommend you doing and what I do for myself is I try not to go on my phone first thing in the morning. I won't scroll through TikTok. I will give myself TikTok time at different points of the day, but I will limit myself too. I don't set a screen time or anything because even if I have a time limit, I'll click ignore. But when I start to notice that I'm scrolling so deep into TikTok that I'm not even...

aware of my surroundings or where I am anymore I've realized I've been on for too long and I'll pick something else to do like I'll go cook something in the kitchen or I'll go lay out back in the sun and

That's another thing I do for my body. You need sunshine. You need vitamin d. It is going to help control your circadian rhythm. It is going to Do so many good things for you And you have a little tan going on and I don't want to hear any excuses now because it's summertime When I would say that in the winter I could understand you guys trolling me because I know that I live in florida and it snows most other places But in the summer we can all get outside. Okay, we can all go feel the sunshine um

Anyways, back to getting off TikTok. And I was in a reading funk for a really long time. I was pretty good at reading in January. I would pick through a bunch of different self-help books and read when I could. And then the past couple months, I just could not bring myself to pick up a book. It was not working well for me. And the other day, I finally forced myself to do it. And every time I go outside to like sit in the sun, I bring my book and I read at least a few chapters. Right now, I'm reading The Creative Way of...

the something creative way of being it's really really good and each chapter is super digestible and short which works really well for my adhd brain long chapters those kind of books i never really get through just because when i read i like to set a limit like oh i'm gonna read a chapter or two chapters so when it's a long ass chapter and i can't read a whole chapter in one sitting it just never gets finished i don't know why my brain does that but it does um

So consume good things. Consume books. Read books. Watch TED Talks on YouTube instead of

Hall of all the designer things. Like, I don't know why that's just what I'm thinking of, but those things bring no value to us. They don't bring, and don't get me wrong, if your body wants, like if your mind wants to watch those things, give it a break. Like if you need a guilty pleasure show or YouTuber to watch, whatever it is, watch it. But I'm just saying, don't let these things consume you. Be in control of what you consume instead of letting it be control, be in control of you. Get what I'm putting down?

Yeah, so I've been trying to limit my TikTok time and my Instagram time and just my phone time in general. And it's actually been very easy because when I'm traveling, I don't really have time to scroll. And when I'm home, I am either with my boyfriend or with Lisette or with Mango. I'm at the new house doing work. So I really don't have as much time to scroll, especially my nighttime scrolling. When my boyfriend sleeps over or I sleep at his house, I'm not scrolling on TikTok at night. So...

That's been great. I've really enjoyed not being on TikTok as much, but I also love TikTok sometimes. Okay, I am just a rambling queen today. It's early in the morning. I'm still a little bit sleepy. The coffee's kicking in. But listen to your body.

Do those things to take care of your body. And then know that when your body tells you you need to rest, you need to rest. Because when you're doing all the things to take care of your body and your body is still sending you messages like, I don't feel my best right now, I don't want to work out, that's when you listen to it and you don't go against it. If you are not taking care of your body and you are just feeding it junk and sugar, your body is always going to be telling you, I don't want to work out, I'm tired. Because sugar...

does that. It's a highly addictive chemical, basically. It's a drug. Sugar's a drug. And I'd be having a lot of sugar, trust me. But it's always going to tell you your body's tired if you're having a lot of it. So that's when I like to kind of go against my body and get my body back in the flow of moving and sweating and...

I really need to do that. I'm huge on physical activity. Just walking or doing something to move your body. And when I tell you, since before France, I have not moved my body in the slightest besides to walk the dog, I mean it. And...

That's not ideal. So today, I've been saying this for three days, but today is the day that I'm going to go. I'm going to get back to working out because I just want to sweat. I want to feel really, really good. And sweating does that. And I've been taking care of the nutrition at this point and the consuming of good things for my mind. Now the last step, I've got to take care of my body because she deserves to feel good.

Yeah, just listen to yourself. That's the moral of this. I'm not going to talk a bunch of nonsense for another 10 minutes. I'm just going to kind of leave it at this. And I'm going to leave you here. And I'm going to give you 20 minutes to just think about all the ways that you've been ignoring yourself. Listen to your thoughts and listen to your body and connect the two and self-reflect and become aware on a deeper level and pay attention to what you're putting into your body physically, mentally, physically.

Pay attention to who you're surrounding yourself with because that's also a form of consumption. The energy around you. And just take a second to evaluate all the things you have going on around you. What is doing good for you? What is doing bad for you? And take it from there. We have a lot of uncontrollable things happen in our lives.

But we also have a lot of things that we can control. And sometimes the first step to making your life better or happier or in a way that works better for you is to just evaluate.

and to slowly pay attention and to slowly fix things if things are broken but if it's not broken don't fix it you know what i'm saying just enjoy your life and listen to yourself okay i love you and we'll talk next monday when i have more things to talk about and when my brain is working better but i'm gonna listen to my body for now and i'm gonna cut this off here i love you you guys are the best
