Hello and welcome to another episode of Chasing Life. I'm your host, Sarah, and this week we're going to talk about life and that's because this is my birthday week and I feel like it's a great way to celebrate by looking back on my life and seeing how far I've come and what I've accomplished so far and looking forward to what's ahead of me.
And this has come a long way from where I was eight years ago when on the eve of my birthday, I felt like I was at the lowest point in my life. I was really struggling emotionally from side effects of medication. I was going through a breakup. I didn't like my job. I just felt really stuck and going through a quarter-life crisis and just thought, okay,
life has to be better than this. Why are things not going my way? Why don't I feel good about things? Like what can I do to change? And I made a decision to commit to a 90-day fitness program. I
have a very competitive side and one of my best friends had P90X and I had gotten it from her a few weeks beforehand and it wasn't until I was spending half my day in bed that I realized like I needed to make a change little did I know that that 90-day program would absolutely change my life and my attitude and my mental wellness and just became a catalyst for so many other things to
to make a change. And I used to be the girl that struggled with push-ups and just hid underneath baggy clothes and never wore shorts because I was so self-conscious of my legs and
Now I'm the girl who wants to share her journey in the hopes that it might inspire someone to just start and take it one workout one day at a time. I'm the girl who will do full push-ups until my arms can't move. I'm the girl who prefers to
wear more form-fitting clothes now because I'm proud of the progress that I've made. And I proudly wear shorts because while my legs aren't thin, they are strong by the thousands of miles that I've run in the last eight years and the two marathons that I've trained for with a third only two weeks away. And
I'm proud of the fact that I made a decision that I didn't want to stay where I was anymore. And every year on the eve of my birthday, I celebrate this because you can make a change. And all it takes is one decision, a belief in yourself and determination to follow through. And I just wanted to share that message because maybe you're going through a really low time in your life and
and i just want to encourage you to commit to movement because whether it's taking a walk or doing a home workout program or starting running or going to a cycling class or whatever it is that makes you want to move that you do that every day because that exercise will give you endorphins
and it will help you to figure out about the world. And 2020 has been a rough year. And so anytime that you can just spend even 10 minutes not thinking about all that's going on in the world these days, the stresses of COVID-19 or having to homeschool your kids, or whether you're working from home and your kids are home or whatever it is that you have going on in your life,
that if you just take that time to take care of yourself, you're going to be able to better take care of others and you're going to be in a better mood around others. And it just will be a huge catalyst for positive change in your life.
And so when I did that 90 day fitness program, I remember that while my arms felt like they were going to fall off and my legs were shaking, it also became that one hour a day that I looked forward to because then I could just focus on the workout and nothing else. And that hour of clearing my mind,
helped to grow into longer time periods where I wasn't hung up on the job I didn't like or the emotional struggles that I was going through. So that hour turned into two hours and then turned into five hours. And then over the course of those three months,
I started smiling more, not only because the program was working and I was seeing changes in my body, other people were noticing that. And that helped to boost my self-confidence and that helped to bring my smile back. And that helped me to realize that when you commit to something, that the results will come and then you'll feel proud of yourself for following through on that commitment. And that just...
helps to fill you up. So I hope this message was helpful for you. Maybe it was something you needed to hear. If you're struggling with anything, know that you can make a change.
