Arnold Farrugia, 44 years old from Ħal Luqa and resident of Ħaz-Zebbuġ, was found guilty 8-1 with possession, association and importation of 6kg of the drug cocaine. The jurors' vote came after long hours of deliberation, which began yesterday afternoon.
Yesterday, after a long address explaining the procedures to the jurors for almost seven hours, Judge Quintano sent them to deliberate. Until around 7.30pm, the deliberation was suspended to continue today.
The drug cocaine, with a street value of €500,000, was found in a trailer owned by Farrugia and which had arrived in Malta from Genoa in July 2005.
