Shonen Shodown

Today, I'm ready to branch out and to spread those shonen wings and fly, and we're going to get into it. And I'm going to talk about this. This is our episode seven, Sparks and Wreck. No? Fine. I love it, but it's okay. I'll just live with it. No, it's funny. It's funny. I'm just teasing. Yeah. Yeah.

This is, I think, was this a topic that you wanted to do? You would float it by? Yeah, this was just something to, well, I don't want to take full credit. This was definitely something that came to us from our Discord. Hint, hint, plug, plug, AAAdiscord.com gave us an idea about talking about shows that

If you like show A, maybe check out show B and sort of why. So we took the big three plus Dragon Ball because these kind of conversations, they tend to get lumped together. And looked at each one of those and we went and said, hey, what should someone who's going into Shonen? I've watched Naruto. I liked it a lot. But where do I go next? This is kind of our next steps of recommendations.

Exactly. And I thought this was actually quite a lot of fun to put together. And like you said, we got to kick it off with Dragon Ball Z. I know it's not part of the big three, like you said, but Raggedy, you're right. It sort of is the catalyst of Shonen. No, it's definitely the right place to start. Yeah. Yeah. One of the OGs, right? Yeah.

Like I said, I'm going to kick it off. Listener, you've watched Dragon Ball. You've watched Dragon Ball Z. Heck, you've watched Super and for some reason are working your way through Dynia.

Yes, I skipped GT. It doesn't exist in my brain. Stop asking about it. So what now? What are you going to do that's going to give you that sweet taste of powering up in punches? And I'm going to be honest with you, you're going to do a one punch man. We're gearing up for season three. I know I'm probably one of the few season two apologists, but...

Obviously, overall, the number one thing I'm going to tell you is go watch season one. And we talked about this for our hype episode. But I feel this show is really a show that honors what Dragon Ball brought to the forefront of anime. And it does it, yes, in a parody, satirical way. But there's still just some good shounen elements into it. Yeah, it's...

You can't be a good parody of something without truly understanding what that thing is. And One Punch Man is the peak shonen satire. So in order to write peak shonen satire, you have to really get shonen. Exactly. Yeah.

But I am laughing. So I have to ask, what are your picks for this? I say that tongue in cheek because I can't believe one of these picks. So I have two picks for...

For Dragon Ball Z. I have multiple picks for all of these. We'll see if we get through all of them for all of them. All of them for all of them? Whatever. You know what I'm getting at. But I took this from two different perspectives for Dragon Ball. One is trying to figure out, okay, how do you match the core essence of Dragon Ball as a show? And two is how you match Dragon Ball as what it means to the broader anime community.

So for what it is as a show, it's the pure hype battle shonen. Power-ups and power scaling and these executions of skill. And it starts out, you know, Dragon Ball is a pure martial arts show with extra magic thrown in. But it's based around martial arts and then eventually evolves into just this pure absurdist power fantasy kind of thing. Yeah.

And I thought that Kuroko no Basket is a good parallel to that in that it's the same kind of thing where it's the basic shounen fundamentals of, you know, power of friendship, the power scaling, the absurdist powers, but based off of this realistic sort of thing, it hits the same kind of hype moments and the hype sort of...

trends and feels that Dragon Ball does without being the risk of killing and real magic. It's sort of that pseudo-fake magic. And when I describe Kuroko no Basket to people, I tell them it's a battle shonen where the magic system is basketball. That's what I was going to ask is, do you have to love basketball, have a knowledge of basketball, and most importantly, are there villains that become friends along the way? That's exactly what happens. I'm glad that you were to ask that. There's this entire...

team that has been spread out, the Generation of Miracles. The crux of the story is that there's this group of players all played for the same team that have all split off to play for their own teams, and the two main characters are a new character who gets to be the exposition of who are all these people, and one of the former players for the Generation of Miracles. And essentially, that's Kuroko, he's the

sixth man from that team. So you watch him throughout the entire series beating all of his old teammates with the power of friendship. A truly Goku move. Kagami, the other character, is definitely more of the Goku archetype, but I think it fits well enough where it's not the same. It's not a copy-paste, but if you like Dragon Ball, you will like Kuroko no Basket. My other pick is more of the what does Dragon Ball mean to the anime community?

Right. So if you think about this will be probably a larger discussion we have at some point about what the big three is, what it means and how it came to be and why Dragon Ball is sort of its own thing. Dragon Ball was part of the Shonen Golden Age. It was the biggest thing, the driving force that has influenced so many other Shonen properties before.

And was the dominant force and is still a dominant force in the anime zeitgeist from across the world. It touches across so many different countries, so big in America and South America, still big in Japan and China. It's everywhere. The modern day equivalent to that is One Piece, which weird, right? We're talking about recommendations from the big three and I'm just recommending you another big three. But it is that new...

thing that stands almost on its own as this pillar of what the current shonen landscape is and guess what it's also everywhere now it's in japan it's in china it's in the macy's day parade it's in south america it is taking dragon ball's spot to some degree as that top tier everyone knows it basic bitch shonen

I think what I really like, actually, because when I first saw that, I laughed thinking, oh my gosh, you're making basically a time-to-time circle. You're just dragging them all into like a different big three show, which I thought was funny. But what I liked about this, and I wrote it down, is...

Dragon Ball Z starts off pretty goofy to a certain extent. Like there's some serious notes, of course, but there's enough goofy elements to it. And then it later becomes serious leading up into the Super Saiyan form, which is, I think, one of the peak, the high serious moments in Shonen. And then when you return to Super, even Daimyo, it gets silly again. And I've been missing that. And what I think One Piece did really well is they had goofiness to it

But somewhere around maybe Marineford, maybe a few arcs before that, it starts to really get serious. And I think it still introduces comedic moments and lightheartedness, but it builds. For those who don't know, I'm still working through the Wano arc. I promise I will finish it soon.

But it still is building. I still feel a sense of seriousness and things that are at stake that I actually feel Dragon Ball doesn't always do well. And I think before we move on to the next one, before I forget, since this is recommendations, where to watch these? One Piece and Kuroko no Basket. Both of them you can find on Netflix and Crunchyroll. One Punch Man should be on Crunchyroll, I believe. Yeah.

I believe so, yeah. I will take a look here and we can always add it in either the notes or jump on the Discord and ask us there. But Hulu is another place where you can watch it. If you don't have Hulu, likely then you'll see it on Disney+. If you don't have any of those, where are you even watching your anime? Exactly. All right, well, okay, we're going to move on then to Naruto. Okay.

Yeah, let's talk about Naruto. I, again, have two picks for Naruto. These are much more along the lines of if you like Naruto, you will like these shows more straightforward than the previous two. My first one I want to talk about is a show called Blue Exorcist.

This is a show you can catch on Crunchyroll. The biggest recommendation, though, coming into this is if you start this show, stop Season 1 after Episode 16, do not pass Go, do not collect $200, do not watch the anime original only ending, and just go to Season 2, the Kyoto Arc instead, and continue from there because it is continuing currently on Crunchyroll on their website.

I guess technically it's fourth season now. So what this story is about, the son of Satan who awakens his powers on his birthday and turns, finds out that his normal life isn't so normal. And his brother is a secret exorcist and demons exist. And he gets, uh,

Sent off to this demon exorcist school and is, stop me if you've heard this before, ostracized by his fellow comrades and classmates because of something he was born with and out of his control that they consider to be evil. And he wants to prove them all wrong with the power of friendship and becoming the best thing within that thing, a.k.a. the paladin.

Yeah, it's very, very rote Naruto. And in fact, the female characters are also just as useless as the ones in Naruto. So if you like Naruto... They're so useless. I'm so glad you pointed that out. Yes, thank you. It's a carbon copy, I feel like. But it's still fun. It looks good. It comes... It's a little different with its...

more religious undertones. There's a lot of Christianity and Shintoism and Buddhism and stuff mixed in, which gives it a little more of a unique flavor. But that would be a good one to jump into. And the other one I have, another very similar show that people, I'm sure, clocked this as a Naruto clone from the jump, is Black Clover, which you can watch on Netflix or Crunchyroll.com.

Black Clover, the story of Asta, a magicless individual in a magic-filled society who, again, aims to be the super-duper Hokage, I mean, wizard king of his country, proving the haters and the doubters wrong. Very classic shounen-y goodness like you get with Naruto, which is probably one of the more prototypical shounens, more so than any of the other big three, funny enough.

But the thing about Black Clover compared to Naruto is I'd argue Black Clover is better. It's written better. The characters are better written. The relationship between Asta and Yuna, the Naruto-Sasuke analogs, is a much more interesting relationship. They...

feel like a better rivalry than the Sasuke Naruto one does. I think that the writer for Black Clover kind of took the good that Naruto had and the gooey shounen stuff, but then added a little more of a refined layer. It's like a Ferrero Rocher. I don't know what that is, but I agree. I think that the relationship is a lot more palatable to me.

I always struggled with Sasuke being the emo person that he is constantly. And I feel like it's a little bit deeper in Black Clover. It's not perfect, but definitely more manageable in my mind. Yeah. And the women are more useful. What? What? Shocking. An anime with useful women. It's still shonen. They're only so useful.

But it's a step up. Speaking of useless women, I am going to shock everyone because I'm going to recommend a sports anime for this. And I say that because I just I'm not huge into that genre. But I feel like Haikyuu is a good fit for this. You have your boisterous main character to like your emo best friend. I also think that relationship is a lot more fun for me.

And, you know, it's also about Hinata aiming for the top. I, of course, like we've been talking about, I have to needle in there that they have a volleyball manager. And while she is a character that I enjoy. What? They do? They do. No way. Oh.

And while I enjoy her because I like her personality a heck of a lot more than Sakura, she is our Sakura. She literally just stands there and does nothing. I can't think of a single instance where she contributes anything.

to the importance of them trying to achieve their goal to be the best, to become the best team. Each of their goals to like strive for the top ranking of their position within the volleyball arena. Just she's just there to clap her hands together and that's about it. But she looks so cute. She does. And she's,

That said, this is another one that's continuing to come out. I think you've mentioned it on the podcast before too when you've made the recommendation of people should go and watch this because it's continuing to come out and we are continuing to see what is it? We have movies coming out I think for this one. The dumpster battle just came out recently and I don't think there's been anything announced since but the

There's definitely more that's going to be coming. It's too popular not to be. And I believe you can see this on both Netflix and Crunchyroll, though I would prefer, I think, Crunchyroll in this instance just because I think Crunchyroll has everything. Netflix, I'm not certain if they have all of the movies and the arcs and things like that. So, yeah, that is my recommendation.

I think that's a solid pick. And it is nice to be able to branch out a little bit, you know, similar with Crocodile Basket. Give a sports show. Dip your toes into something a little different. But I do think the two of us are sticking with very, very basic Shonen-esque recommendations for our next one.

which I'll let you know, this is more your baby. So I'll let you talk about this one first. What I love more than Bleach, everyone, is I love Demon Slayer. I love it so much. I think it's one of the best shounens ever written. And so that's what I'm going to recommend. If you have finished Bleach, as in you're finishing up this most recent arc that's come out and you're waiting for the next episode,

And I'm going to just say that this, I believe, encompasses a lot of the elements of Bleach, specifically thinking of the sword play and the gorgeous battle scenes. It's one of the things Bleach does really, really well is it is so much fun to watch these battle scenes, especially Thousand Year Blood War, which again, plugging all of you, please catch up. Please go see it. I think it is just a work of art what they've been doing with it.

The main difference you're going to get is Tanjiro. Tanjiro is such a good boy. He's a very good boy. And while Ichigo is also a good boy, he's more subdued in his role, I would say. He's a little more laid back, a little more serious.

And the other thing I'll point out is I feel the Muzin and Aizen, similar names even, similar natures, like regarding their villainry, you could make an argument. I mean, the joke is always that Muzin is the Michael Jackson of the anime universe. I don't know. You could maybe argue that with Aizen to a certain extent.

And they both have soundtracks that truly get your heart pounding. So I really think people should check this out if you have not already. The other good news is this Demon Slayer continues to...

in production right now. They are going to get ready to wrap it up in, I think it's a series of three movies that they'll be doing. I'd have to double check that, but... Yep. Oh, yeah. It's a trilogy of movies that are going to break the...

the box office records again. I'm ready for it. People get so grumpy about that and I just eat that up. It's a similar thing, I'm sure, with when One Piece Red came out for you and people were grumpy about that and you're like, oh, delicious. Thank you. Can I have another? Please, please give me more. And it's so funny because the Demon Slayer movie being able, it's going to be the only thing that's going to beat itself and it won't.

reminds me of my favorite shonen quote which is from Kuroko no Basket where one of the characters just goes because he's just too good and he goes the only one who could beat me is me I just imagined the Demon Slayer movies just keep beating it

Because it's like, nope, no one's going to top this. What a great meme. I love that. And you can watch Demon Slayer literally everywhere. Because like you said, Raggedy, it's huge. It's huge here. It's huge in Japan. I'm sure it's huge in a variety of countries. So you can find it on Netflix. You can find it on Crunchyroll here in the US. You can find it even on Hulu. I just...

Go enjoy it. It's been dubbed and subbed. I personally like the sub for that one, but the dub's pretty good. You know where I'm going to be with this. Watch the dub. Always. For those of us who can't read, I will forever champion the dub. But my recommendations are not as, I guess not as current, but I still think worth checking out.

The first one I have, surprise, I have two again, is Shaman King. Either the remake or the original, if you really want to. The remake you can find on Netflix. The original, you'd probably have to sail the high seas to find because there's no really good streaming site available for it. Would recommend, if you've never seen either, to check out the remake over the original for accessibility, updated animation, slightly more, you know,

True to the source material. But Shaman King matches a lot of what Bleach does from the sense of the religious sort of overtones and undertones. The symbolism, that kind of more meat to the spectacle that you can get from these battle shonen. There is plenty of cool battle stuff to be had with Shaman King. But there's definitely a lot more philosophical stuff.

sort of themes going on with Shaman King that can be seen in Bleach. It definitely has more of that spooky vibe that fits with Bleach's sort of spooky vibe. The other thing that Shaman King has, it has a protagonist that I think is very similar to Ichigo. Like I said, Ichigo is much more of a subdued, laid-back,

easygoing kind of protagonist compared to most other shonen protagonists and yo asakura the protagonist for for uh shaman king is probably the chillest of chill guys when it comes in anime his he does not really care about much he wants he's going to be the shaman king but not because he wants to

he's going to be the Shaman King because all he wants to do is do nothing and relax. And the only way that could be guaranteed is if he stops someone nefarious from becoming the Shaman King, which is a funny way to have a goal. The other thing Shaman King has, it has a really, really solid cast of side characters, very deep cast of side characters, which bleach is really good about having, um, as well. So if you enjoy that part of bleach, you'll, you'll definitely get that in Shaman King. Um,

technically still coming out with spin-off mangas and sequels. I stopped at the original, so I don't know how those are going. Hopefully good, because I want more good things in the world, but I have no idea. My other recommendation, a little older, is Yu Yu Hakusho, which you can find on Netflix and Crunchyroll, and for a lot of the same reasons. Good, solid cast of characters, more of that spooky vibe, definitely a wide variety of

of fights and fighting styles. Um, it has a more atypical, more atypical Shonen protagonist who, even though he's kind of loud and boisterous, but he's much more of a, of a bad boy with a heart of gold, which is how we are first introduced to Ichigo in the very beginning. I think that's actually a very good fit for that opening. Yeah. They're very, very similar, uh, character archetypes. Um,

So I think Yu Yu Hakusho is another really good shounen to be able to sink your teeth into if you like Bleach. Yeah, I really liked that. I have not seen Shaman King to be able to speak to it, but Yu Yu was an excellent pick. And what made me laugh is both of these also, between Bleach and Yu Yu, have not very good live action. Yeah.

So I was just thinking about that. Like, oh, and if you wanted to try their live actions, it's a little painful, but you can have fun with it. It's the same experience. Exactly. But speaking of good live actions. Good one, yeah. Yeah, you like that super smooth segue that I've now ruined by explaining how it was a super smooth segue? Yes. Let's talk about

Let's talk One Piece, which if you like One Piece, I'm not going to recommend Dragon Ball. It doesn't work that way. Dang it. I was really hoping. I have probably a very interesting recommendation that Mitsugi would probably hate to hear that I'm comparing one of his favorites to One Piece, but too bad because it's true. I'm going to recommend Future Boy Conan.

which has newly remastered with a new dub that can be purchased from GKids or found on the high seas, just saying, which is a very quality dub as well as a really nice remaster on the visuals. So, Lady Emery, stop me if you've heard this one before. We are in a post-apocalyptic Earth-like planet covered almost entirely in water with not a lot of people. Oh, no.

that live on various very different islands that are very hard to get to. Our main character, a young male who has weirdly freakish strength and skills for no real apparent reason, sets out on an island-hopping adventure with his group of friends to try to save the world from an overbearing, technologically advanced government that believes in enslaving people. That... Yep.

All right. You sold me. Wow. That does sound pretty identical. Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot to mention the ancient weapons that destroyed the planet in a war that we don't know a whole lot about. How on earth did you uncover this? Like, how did you, like, see the stars and figure this out?

I don't know, but obviously Future Boy Conan is not exactly One Piece, right? It's much more of a Miyazaki Ghibli. It's very, very Ghibli. It's very Castle in the Sky kind of motifs and themes. It's a little bit cursory, the comparison to One Piece, but you can see where Oda drew a lot of inspiration from, at least for the

The Basis and the World. It's a 26-episode show. It does not go nearly into as much depth or as crazy amount of world building as One Piece does, but it is definitely that same flavor. I like it. I like it. Yeah, I didn't expect that at all when you put this on the list. So I'm pretty impressed you're able to dig that up, especially because mine I came up with, but I came up with it because I –

I don't know. It was already in discussion in the Discord when it first came up, but...

I can get there eventually. I'm very shocked that you were able to make that comparison. Look, it's also just a good excuse to go back and experience some classic Miyazaki, some old school hand-drawn anime. It's a good reason to go back to more anime roots on top of everything else. My more contemporary recommendation is going to be a show called Magi.

Uh, this one you can find it on Crunchyroll. There is also a sequel that used to be on Crunchyroll, used to be on Netflix. Bounces Around can obviously be found on the high seas. This one is a little more of that real true long shonen adventure power fantasy. Uh, good group of characters going on this journey. Uh, there is a, uh, the main character, um, Aladdin, uh,

is the titular Magi, which you don't really know what that is when you begin. And it's a lot about these dungeons that appear in this world and dungeon diving and trying to collect djinn, which are ways to... mythical creatures that basically you can use to fight, very similar to the devil fruit kind of idea.

And the dungeon diving and the exploring a lot of these different countries is very similar to the island hopping adventure that you get up to in One Piece. But Magi has a little more of that deep, dark, serious stuff that you were alluding to with One Piece where there are conspiracies and governmental conflicts and a lot more of that.

serious, well thought out, good world building into it. The only thing I have to warn you about with Magi is the anime is not, there's no more anime coming out and it does end at a spot where while it's a fine enough ending that you can enjoy, it's kind of similar to the Hunter Hunter ending where, yeah, the show ended and you can be satisfied with where it ended, but there's obviously way more going on, which you would have to then dive into the manga to get to.

Gotcha. That is a little bit of a disappointment there that they didn't finish it out, but maybe it was lost steam with the audience or something. That's just feels unusual that they chose not to. It just wasn't quite as popular. I don't know. It was a really, really solid show with a really useful lady side character. Yes. She's great. Just like in one piece. Exactly. Yeah.

Things that are important to me. Weird. Representation. Let me hear about your recommendation, which I'm probably going to disagree with. That's fine. Okay. So the one that I figured we can have the most fun with, because this was a tough one, because One Piece is such a long show. It dips its toe into a lot of different settings. It has so much character development and just overall it's an

story. And so I went back and forth on two shows. So my runner up, which I think what Reggie might be alluding to was Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, just because of how long it is. Oh, boo hoo. And some of the storytelling. Wah. That's what I hear is wah. It still is being made. I think, didn't they just recently announce that Jojo has another arc coming out here soon? Jojo's, there's Steel Ball Run, the anime, which is

At the time of recording, it has not officially been announced, but probably by time of release, it will be announced because it's very suspected to be announced in April. I'm not going to tell you when we're recording this because that's my little secret. Or our little secret, I guess. Either way, I felt it has the shounen elements. We haven't really talked about JoJo yet.

What I will say is if somebody were to ask me which do I want to like watch, always is going to be One Piece. I mean, Jojo has some bizarre character designs similar to One Piece has some bizarre character designs. Looking at you, Oda, and the three circles. If you don't know that reference, Raggedy had to show me that of how he had to learn to draw the ladies, let's just say. Three very... But the one that I'm curious... Three very beautiful circles. Oh.

Usually. Usually. But the one who I, what I actually want to talk about is, I think I'm going to put forward Ranking of Kings. I think that is the show that you can watch while you're waiting for your next dumping of One Piece. I say that because I feel like for those of us who watch the dub, because the dub is superior for One Piece, don't come at me.

It just, all the episodes usually kind of drop at once, it seems like, in my realm anyways. So with Ranking of Kings, it's two seasons long now, I believe.

And it is following Boji, who I think shares a lot of similar elements to Luffy. There's a wide cast of characters in Ranking of Kings and a lot of people who start off, I think that they fall under the villainy role and you learn that they're actually good. And I feel that falls in the same element that One Piece often does is introducing you to a character that you think is going to be evil or horrible.

And then they turn around and suddenly they're on the boat with Luffy. He just pulls them along for some reason as he does. And what I would say is more of a knock against Boji, but maybe more of a benefit to Luffy is Luffy, especially in the beginning, has a lot of confidence in himself. And while Boji has some confidence in himself, it's not really there.

And so he has to gain that along the way. But if you have any pushback of that, I'm happy to hear it. It was just I wanted a show that had a different...

Some different storytelling elements there, but, like, just the – maybe the vibes, the mood of it felt similar. I'm not going to disagree on the ranking of King's recommendation. I do think that's a good one. I was disagreeing with the JoJo's recommendation. That is – I'm sorry. That's just – that's a real stretch. But it's so long. It's so long, guys. It just keeps going. The length. Yeah.

Oh, man, I don't know. JoJo's, it's, I love JoJo's, but JoJo's is so its own thing. It's like trying to recommend someone Gintama, right? They're just such their own thing that it's so hard to say, if you like this, watch this. The closest I can make for JoJo's is Baki, probably, but even that's like... Really? Yeah.

For like the like Herculean figures? Because that's all that I think of when I think of Baki. That and just the utter like kind of insanity. Baki is Jojo's if Jojo's didn't have stands. Yeah.

Oh, yeah. My biggest criticism for JoJo's, I actually really enjoyed that first season of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. And then they get stands and it just becomes in my mind wacky. It's essentially, I don't know, their ghost Pokemon doing the work for them. Yeah, it's great. I love it. Yeah.

The Ranking of Kings, I will agree with. I do like the comparison between Boji and Luffy. Very similar in their kind of happy-go-lucky, goofy sort of attitude and the fact that people are just kind of drawn to them and their aura. The other thing that I do think makes for a good connection between Boji and Luffy is that Boji is supposed to be weak, right? He is like the weakest, but then it turns out he's actually the strongest and

And it's not explicitly mentioned in one piece, but if you think about it hard enough, Luffy's power is really weak in concept. Like if you compare like, oh, I'm a rubber boy, right?

I mean, compared to, oh, I am living magma or I can turn people into dolls and control them or any sort of other. I mean, we've had the discussion that Zoro is truly actually the shonen archetype. That's usually the main character you're following and you're not. And that's so pleasant to see of like, no, he's supporting Luzardo.

So I agree with you. Yeah, Luffy, people think it's like, oh, it's so silly. He's like so weak and he's just a rubber boy. Who can make a power out of that? Yeah, similar to how Boji can turn his sort of weird like abilities around and just like get at the weak point of other people. It's a very good comparison. The adventure aspect of it is very good. And similarly, the art style is both –

Very unique and a little more storybook for very much so for ranking and one piece is not like overly storybooky, but it is definitely closer to that style than a lot of other shown. And so I fully agree. Great recommendation. Awesome. I I'm feeling good about all of those recommendations. I I don't really have anything else to add to you. No, actually, all of our recommendations suck and don't watch any of them.

delete this episode from your podcast listening app unsubscribe no please please don't please continue to listen to us if you stop listening to us we stop existing

No. Exactly. But no, a solid list. I'm going to run through it real quick just to cap it. So for Dragon Ball Z, we have One Piece, Kuroko no Basket, and One Punch Man. For Naruto, we have Haikyuu, Black Clover, and Blue Exorcist. For Bleach, we have Demon Slayer, Shaman King, Yu Hakusho. And for One Piece, we have

Ranking of Kings, Maji, Future Boy Conan, and then somehow for JoJo's we got Baki in there too. So hey, there's that. There we go. I like it. I like that a lot.

And like we said, a lot of these you can see on Crunchyroll. Some of them you can find on Netflix. And for those in the US, look to Hulu. For those outside of the US, maybe look to Disney+. It might be in Disney jail, unfortunately. So good luck, everyone. Or you may have to take a note out of One Piece and set sail. Exactly right.

All right. Well, then I think that wraps us up for today. So remember, the glory of Shonen can be yours for the taking if you just believe it. So set sail and join us for the next episode where we are going to dig into this resurgence of old Shonen shows and our theories on why we're seeing renewed interest. Find out more next time on Shonen Showdown. See ya.

Bye.
