回娘家/ Married Women Return to Their Parents' Home Hello, this is teacher Bear, 我是Bear老師。 小朋友，今天是大年初二，傳統上，是出嫁的女兒回娘家的日子，你是不是也跟媽媽一起回外婆家了呢？ Kids, today is the second day of Chinese New Year. Traditionally, it is the day when married women return to their parents' home. Are you at your grandmother's house with your mother today? 今天Amy也跟爸媽還有哥哥一起回娘家了，讓我們來聽聽他們的情況吧！ Today Amy also went back to her grandmother's home with her mother, father, and older brother. Amy：什麼是「駙馬」？ Amy: What is a " Fùmǎ "?

外婆：「駙馬」就是「公主的先生」。 Grandma: In Chinese, " Fùmǎ " means "the princess's husband." Amy：喔~~ Amy: I see~ 外婆：因為安慶公主的婚姻不幸福，所以每到了過年的時候，就更思念皇宮熱鬧溫暖的氣氛，於是啊！就在除夕夜不顧傳統，偷跑回了皇宮。 Grandma: Because Princess Anqing’s marriage was unhappy, every New Year she missed the lively and warm atmosphere of the palace – so, on New Year's Eve, she disregarded tradition and sneaked back to the palace. Amy：那有什麼不可以？ Amy: Why could she not? David：在古時候當然不可以啊！傳統上，過年期間，媳婦應該留在夫家， 侍奉公婆，怎麼可以偷跑 回娘家？ David: Of course not in ancient times! Traditionally, during Chinese New Year, a daughter-in-law should stay at her husband's home and serve her parents-in-law. How could she sneak back to her parents' home? Amy：古板！ Amy: How old-fashioned. 外婆：呵呵，在古代，確實是這樣。所以皇帝朱元璋雖然很心疼自己的女兒，但是也不得不把她趕回去。沒想到，大年初一，安慶公主又跑回來了！ Grandma: Haha, that’s really how it was in ancient times. So although Emperor Zhū Yuánzhāng loved his daughter very much, he had to send her back. Unexpectedly, on the first day of Chinese New Year, Princess Anqing came back again! David：哈哈，跟Amy一樣任性。 David: Haha, just like Amy, does whatever she likes. Amy：哥，你該不會跟那個朱元璋一樣古板吧？ Amy: David, you are not as old-fashioned as Zhū Yuánzhāng, are you? 外婆：你哥哥開玩笑的，新年我們不吵架。 Grandma: Your brother is just joking. We won’t quarrel during the New Year. Amy吐舌頭/ Amy sticks her tongue out. David：好啦好啦！對不起。阿嬤，結果呢？ David: Okay, okay! sorry. Grandma, so then what happened? 外婆：結果啊！朱元璋非常生氣，又把安慶公主趕了回去，可是，心裡卻又非常的不忍心。 Grandma: Zhū Yuánzhāng was very angry and sent Princess Anqing back again, but he couldn't bear it in his heart. 外婆：於是她告誡安慶公主，以後每年的除夕、初一，都得先好好地侍奉公婆，初二才准許回來皇宮拜年。 Grandma: So he warned Princess Anqing that she must serve her parents-in-law well on New Year's Eve and the first day of every New Year, and would only be allowed to return to the palace for New Year's greetings on the second day. Amy：結果呢？ Amy: And then? 外婆：結果啊！安慶公主終於聽話了。這件事情傳開了以後，出嫁的女兒也就把初二回娘家當成是一個傳統習俗，流傳到了今天。 Grandma: In the end, Princess Anqing finally obeyed. After this story spread, married women began to regard returning to their parents’ home on the second day of Chinese New Year as a traditional custom, which has been observed until now. Amy：迷信！哥，你書都白念了！ Amy: Superstition! David, education is wasted on you! 外婆：其實，規矩、傳統，都是人訂的。現代社會已經沒那麼保守了，只要將來你跟先生、公婆好好溝通，我相信是沒問題的。 Grandma: Well, rules and traditions are all set by people. Modern society isn’t so conservative. As long as you can communicate well with your husband and parents-in-law in future, I’m sure there will be no problem. Amy：要不然我跟阿姨、姑姑一樣不結婚，這樣就沒問題了。 Amy: Otherwise, I can just not get married like my aunts, then there will be no problem. 外婆：呵呵，結不結婚也不是你現在就能知道的，姻緣天注定，順其自然最好。 Grandma: Haha, you can’t know now whether you will get married or not.
