The Department of Education (DOE) is investigating over 50 universities as part of President Trump’s effort to end diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, citing alleged racial discrimination. Many investigations focus on partnerships with the PhD Project, a nonprofit promoting diversity in business, which the DOE claims engages in "race-exclusionary practices." Universities are also scrutinized for race-based scholarships and segregation. Additionally, 60 institutions received warnings for allegedly failing to protect Jewish students from antisemitism. Education Secretary Linda McMahon emphasized merit-based policies, stating that non-compliance with federal civil rights laws could result in severe penalties, including loss of funding.
