Kekkai is a Web3 security project focused on addressing on-chain fraud and security issues. It offers two main products: a browser extension that simulates transactions to highlight potential risks, and a mobile Web3 security browser designed to be more native and secure than Chrome. The goal is to help users identify and avoid fraudulent transactions and malicious smart contracts.
Danny's entrepreneurial journey began in high school when he created a platform for international students to organize activities. This early experience introduced him to the startup ecosystem and investor networks. His curiosity and competitive nature drove him to pursue further projects, eventually leading him to Web3 after several pivots and diverse project experiences in Japan.
Danny chose Japan because of its favorable entrepreneurial environment, characterized by abundant venture capital and relatively low competition. The scarcity of startups in Japan made it easier to secure funding and stand out in the market, which aligned with his goal of building innovative projects.
Danny faced challenges such as maintaining cash flow through outsourcing and managing client demands, particularly in Japan's strict business culture. These experiences taught him patience and reinforced his commitment to building his own products. His diverse project background also made it easier for him to pivot into Web3 and identify user needs in the space.
Kekkai adopts a lean startup methodology, focusing on validating product-market fit (PMF) before scaling. This involves extensive user research and iterative testing to ensure the product addresses real user pain points. Once validated, Kekkai leverages growth strategies like paid advertising and influencer collaborations, similar to Web2 practices, to expand its user base.
Kekkai is shifting its positioning towards becoming a Web3-native browser, as browsers offer a more stable and long-term user engagement compared to wallet plugins. The team is also working on decentralizing its security models to align with Web3 principles. Additionally, they are exploring AI-powered Web3 search functionalities to enhance user experience.
Danny emphasizes resilience, self-motivation, and the ability to handle multiple roles as critical qualities for founders. He also highlights the importance of self-belief and intuition in decision-making, especially when facing challenges. Founders must be capable of managing all aspects of their business, especially in the early stages when resources are limited.
Danny's participation in SpringX significantly boosted his understanding of Web3 product development and project scaling. He gained insights from experienced founders, learned about common pitfalls, and developed a clearer roadmap for his own project. Additionally, he built strong relationships with fellow founders, fostering a supportive and collaborative community.
