China will step up efforts to ensure the supply of power and goods during the 2022 Spring Festival holiday, a State Council executive meeting chaired by Premier Li Keqiang announced on Wednesday.

国务院总理李克强1月19日主持召开国务院常务会议，部署进一步加强下一阶段特别是春节期间能源和重要民生商品保供稳价工作。

Efforts were urged to make better use of the inter-department coordination mechanism concerning the supply of coal, electricity, oil, gas and transportation services, prioritize coal transportation and boost new energy power generation through multiple channels.

会议要求，要发挥好煤电油气运部际协调机制作用，优先保障发电供热用煤运输，多渠道提升新能源发电出力。

Business enterprises, e-commerce platforms and retailers are encouraged to operate during the Spring Festival, and contingency plans should be made to ensure the smooth flow of major transportation networks and the supply of daily necessities.

引导商贸企业、电商平台、零售网点春节正常营业。要继续做好应对不确定因素的预案，保证骨干交通网络畅通，加强生活物资供应保障。

To help enterprises tide over difficulties and promote entrepreneurship and innovation, it was decided at the meeting to extend another 11 preferential tax and fee policies to the end of 2023, covering sectors including science and technology, medical care and education.

为帮助企业纾困解难，促进创业创新，会议决定，再延续执行涉及科技、医疗、教育等另外11项税费优惠政策至2023年底。

二、推动平台经济规范健康持续发展｜Opinions published on platform economy

China on Wednesday made public a document containing several official opinions on regulating its platform economy. The document, released by the National Development and Reform Commission together with eight other government authorities, called for revising the country's anti-monopoly law and improving rules related to data security and personal information protection.

国家发展改革委等9部门1月19日联合印发《关于推动平台经济规范健康持续发展的若干意见》。《意见》提出，修订《反垄断法》，完善数据安全法、个人信息保护法配套规则。

China will severely crack down on illegal behavior from platform enterprises that exceed their authority in collecting and accessing user data.

要严厉打击平台企业超范围收集个人信息、超权限调用个人信息等违法行为。

The country will also regulate the unnecessary collection of user data by platform enterprises and crack down on data abuse, such as the trading of data on black markets and big data enabled price discrimination.

从严管控非必要采集数据行为，依法依规打击黑市数据交易、大数据杀熟等数据滥用行为。

Platform operators should not use their advantages to restrict the independent operation of other platforms and applications.

平台运营者不得利用数据、技术、市场、资本优势，限制其他平台和应用独立运行。

The notice also suggests the government should encourage platform enterprises to actively engage in technological innovation, raising their core competitiveness.

Platform enterprises are encouraged to "go abroad," selling their digital products and services in global markets.

三、'两癌'筛查对象扩大至城乡适龄妇女｜China extending women's access to cancer screenings

China's National Health Commission on Tuesday issued work plans to extend women's access to screening services for cervical and breast cancers.

国家卫生健康委1月18日发布《宫颈癌筛查工作方案》和《乳腺癌筛查工作方案》，提出为适龄妇女提供宫颈癌、乳腺癌筛查服务。

The scope of such services will be expanded to include females aged from 35 to 64 in both urban and rural areas, and will prioritize those living in rural areas or those from urban families living on subsistence allowances, according to the plans. The services used to be only available to women in rural areas.

筛查服务对象范围由以往的农村适龄妇女扩大为城乡适龄（35至64周岁）妇女，筛查服务优先保障农村妇女、城镇低保妇女。

By the end of 2025, the coverage of cervical cancer screening services for eligible women will surpass 50 percent, while the coverage of breast cancer screening services will increase on a year-by-year basis.

根据方案，到2025年底，我国要实现适龄妇女宫颈癌筛查率达到50%以上、乳腺癌筛查率不断提高等具体目标。

四、全球变暖会导致早产和婴幼儿肥胖｜Global heating linked to early birth

The climate crisis is damaging the health of fetuses, babies and infants across the world, new studies have found.

Scientists discovered increased heat was linked to fast weight gain in babies, which increases the risk of obesity later in life.
