An attempted rebound on Wall Street. I'm Dave Anthony, Fox News. The Dow shot up at the opening bell, but now it's down 100 points. The Nasdaq, though, is still up 230, clawing back some of the massive sell-off this month on concerns about tariffs spiking up inflation. But inflation actually eased last month. Consumer prices rose less than expected. The consumer price index rose just two-tenths of a percent last month,
For the year ending in February, the CPI came in at 2.8%. Both numbers are improvements from January. That's Fox's Jenny Casola. But there are fears inflation could creep back up because of a trade war. The U.S. put tariffs on all steel and aluminum imports this morning with the goal of getting companies to manufacture both here. Canada and the European Union are retaliating, announcing tariffs on some American products. But Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick just told Fox Business... Nothing's going to stop that.
until we've got a big, strong, domestic steel and aluminum capability. And by the way, he's going to add copper to that mix, too. Shipments of American weapons and other military aid to Ukraine have resumed. The day after Ukraine, in talks with the U.S., agreed to a 30-day ceasefire in the war with Russia. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said this morning he'll talk to Russians today. We're going to say that Ukraine is prepared to stop
all battlefield activity and begin the immediate process of negotiating an enduring end to the war. And we'll see what the response is. There's a standoff on a train in Pakistan the day after militants hijacked it, taking hundreds of passengers hostage. And we've just learned that those militants have killed some of them.
as they keep battling Pakistani security forces trying to free those hostages. The day after House Republicans passed a spending bill trying to avert a government shutdown before Friday's deadline, Speaker Mike Johnson tells Fox, It's going to be great for the American people, a more efficient, effective government that uses their precious resources, their taxes,
in a more responsible way. But only one House Democrat voted for it. The rest of them opposed, saying there are cuts to key programs. Senate Democrats have leverage pushing for a compromise. Republicans need some Democrat votes in the Senate to pass the bill. America's listening to Fox. Hey, I'm Trey Gowdy, host of the Trey Gowdy Podcast. I hope you will join me every Tuesday and Thursday as we navigate life together and hopefully find ourselves a little bit better on the other side. Listen and follow now at foxnewspodcast.com.
Again, stocks are mixed after the better than expected inflation update. The Dow is down 143 points, adding to this month's big plunge. The Nasdaq, though, gaining 214. It's a 24-point rise for the S&P 500. The price of oil is up more than a dollar, back over 67 bucks a barrel. Gas unchanged, so AAA's national average for regular remains 308 per gallon. Now, President Trump is buying a car you plug in instead of filling up a Tesla.
Announcing that, next to Elon Musk, the CEO outside the White House, where Musk has been a lot lately, leading Doge in its controversial push to slash federal jobs and spending. Number one, it's a great product, as good as it gets. And number two, because this man has devoted his energy and his life to doing this, and I think he's been treated very unfairly by a very small group of people. The president also called protesters who vandalized some Tesla dealerships bad guys who could be labeled domestic terrorists.
One of them is on the run in South Carolina. Police say a man burned three Tesla chargers in a South Carolina parking lot and apparently inadvertently set his clothes on fire, too. This man in South Carolina spray-painted Long Live the Ukraine and a crude reference to President Trump on the pavement next to the charging stations Friday near an outlet mall in North Charleston. This is Fox's John Saucier. Police still looking for the guy who fled that fire regime.
Elon Musk's SpaceX will launch a mission tonight to the International Space Station to bring two stranded astronauts home. All looks good for the astronauts Butch Wilmore and Sonny Williams, who have been up there since June 5th at the International Space Station. They were supposed to come back on a Boeing Starliner that started to have problems. That was brought back last September 8th.
empty, so they've been up at the space station ever since. The replacement crew will take off at 7.48 p.m. Eastern time. It all looks good. They did a pre-check flight yesterday, got the thumbs up, and the weather, too, more than a 95% chance of the weather being perfect. That's Ashley Webster in Florida. I'm Dave Anthony, and this is Fox News. Hey, everyone. This is Lauren Green, host of the Lighthouse Faith podcast. I recently sat down with Charles Payne to talk about his new special, A Matter of Faith.
You want to kind of do the right thing as much as possible and help everyone as much as possible. But there are certain rules when it comes to the stock market. You have to be profitable a certain period of time. You have to do this and you have to do that. And there are other things out of their control. So it's easier as a private company than a publicly traded company. Look over Lighthouse Faith on your favorite podcast platform or just ask Alexa to play Lighthouse Faith Podcast.
