Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell will not seek re-election next year. The longest-serving Senate party leader in history says it's been an honor to serve the Commonwealth of Kentucky, a job he was first elected to in 1984. Seven times, my fellow Kentuckians have sent me to the Senate.

Fox News. The Labor Department says the number of Americans filing for jobless benefits rose by 5,000 to 219,000 for the week ending February 15th. Analysts projected that 215,000 new applications would be filed. The total number of Americans receiving unemployment benefits for the week of February 8th rose to 1.87 million.
The NBA suspends a star player from the Milwaukee Bucks for violating the league's anti-drug policy. Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis was suspended 25 games by the NBA Thursday for violating the league's anti-drug policy. He tested positive for the painkiller Tramadol, which Portis claimed he unknowingly ingested.
He said he got a painkiller from an assistant who has a prescription. Under the belief, Portis said that the pain medication was called Toradol, not the banned Tramadol. Portis, who has averaged more than 13 points a game this season for the Bucs, suspended 25 games without pay. He'll begin to serve his punishment Thursday when the Bucs host the Clippers.
