President Trump says negotiations between Ukraine and Russia are coming to a head as the U.S. continues to try to broker a peace deal. My whole life has been one big negotiation, and I know when people are playing us, and I know when they're not, and I have to see an enthusiasm to want to end it.
And I think I see that enthusiasm. I think I see it from both sides. The president said we will have to figure out whether a deal can be done in a matter of days or they will just move on. More negotiations are expected in London next week. A federal judge has denied a request from the American Civil Liberties Union to block
the Trump administration from deporting suspected Venezuelan gang members using the Alien Enemies Act, a 1798 law that allows the president to detain, relocate, or deport non-citizens from a country considered an enemy of the U.S. Democratic Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs has vetoed a Republican-backed bill that would have required local officials to help with federal immigration efforts.
A federal judge orders a detained Tufts University student to be brought back to Vermont. A U.S. district judge ordering officials to return Rameza Ozturk to Vermont by May 1st for a hearing over her detention. The 30-year-old Turkish national who attends Tufts University had her student visa revoked and was taken into custody outside Boston in March, being held at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center in Louisiana.
Homeland Security officials have alleged she engaged in activities that support Hamas, but her lawyers say there's no evidence of this. Alleging her detention was in retaliation over an op-ed she wrote for the university's newspaper, expressing support for Palestinians over the war in Gaza. Two officers have been heard and a suspect killed in the Atlanta suburb of South Fulton. Officers with the Fulton County Police Department said they noticed a suspicious individual near a hotel and called for backup. The suspect opened fire on Lieutenant Cook, striking him at least three times. A Fulton County officer was also injured. The suspect was killed at the scene. No word on a motive yet. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation's been at the site

The sex trafficking trial of Sean Diddy Combs will proceed as scheduled next month after a judge denied a request by his lawyer for a delay of two months to better prepare. Combs has been held without bail since his arrest in September. He's pled not guilty.
Toyota could be producing the next version of its RAV4 SUV in the U.S. The current models are made in Kentucky, Canada, and Japan. Reuters says Toyota planned to export the new RAV4 to the U.S. from Canada and Japan. However, adding supply from the U.S. would lessen the impact of 25% tariffs...
and would boost supply for a popular model. The new RAV4 would be the first redesigned since 2019. If it is produced in Kentucky, it would probably start in 2027.
