A final farewell to Pope Francis. I'm Daria Albinger, Fox News. Thousands gathered today in St. Peter's Square to say goodbye to the leader of the world's Roman Catholics. The funeral for Pope Francis reflected not just his work as the pontiff, but also his wishes as a pastor. Fox's Jonathan Savage in Vatican City.

Stretching far into the distance, a quarter of a million came to say goodbye. Presidents, princes, clergy and congregation. The homily by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re prompted waves of applause. The late Pope's message summed up as, build bridges, not walls. Following a procession through Rome, Pope Francis arrived at his burial place, the Basilica of St Mary Major.

A final pealing of the bells, one last salute from the Swiss guards and Pope Francis was gone.

In Rome, Jonathan Savage, Fox News. Russia's top general says Ukrainian forces have been pushed out of parts of the Kursk region, which was retaken last year in a surprise Ukrainian incursion. He also claims North Korean troops helped Russian forces, a charge Ukraine denies. Ukrainian officials also say Russian attacks overnight killed three people. And just a day after suggesting a deal was closed, President Trump said,

Now says he doubts the Russian leader Vladimir Putin's willingness to end the war. Mr. Trump and Ukraine's President Zelensky met today at the Vatican. One of Jeffrey Epstein's most prominent abuse survivors has reportedly committed suicide. 41-year-old Virginia Jeffrey died in Australia where she'd been living for several years. She was one of the earliest voices calling for criminal charges against Epstein and prosecutors say her testimony was key in his conviction.

At least four people are dead and more than 500 have been injured after an explosion in the southern part of Iran. The blast hit a major shipping hub near the Strait of Hormuz. Video shows thick smoke and shattered windows miles away. Officials say the explosion came from shipping containers but ruled out damage to energy facilities. The cause remains under investigation.

Another round of in-depth negotiations between the U.S. and Iran has ended. Iranian State TV says it happened in Muscat on the Arabian Peninsula today.

That Iran's foreign minister and U.S. Mideast envoy Steve Witkoff led the negotiations. The White House says the goal is to convince Tehran to abandon its nuclear program. The talks focused on Iran's uranium enrichment. Neither has shared details so far. Another one of President Trump's executive orders is getting challenged in court.

Here's Fox's Chandlee Painter. A federal judge in D.C. blocking a portion of President Trump's executive order on election integrity, siding with voting rights groups and Democrats when she granted a preliminary injunction stopping the proof of citizenship requirement for voter registration from moving forward while this lawsuit plays out. The judge making clear that the Constitution gives the power to regulate federal elections to states and Congress, not the president, writing this, quote,

Consistent with that allocation of power, Congress is currently debating legislation that would affect many of the changes the president purports to order.

The judge will allow a requirement for mailing in ballots to be received by Election Day to stay in effect. A wildfire burning in southern New Jersey is now 60% contained at Spurnmore. The 19,000 acres since Tuesday, 5,000 residents who had been evacuated have returned. There's no word yet on the cause. I'm Daria Albany. This is Fox News.
