The late Pope. I'm Jack Callahan, Fox News. A quarter of a million people gathered at the Vatican yesterday to honor Pope Francis in a funeral service before he was laid to rest in the Basilica of St. Mary Major. This is Loren Green, reports from Vatican City.
Catholic churches observing the second of nine days of mourning for Pope Francis. And the day also coincides with a long-planned jubilee for youth. So tens of thousands of teenagers from all over the world are here in Rome. Many attended the funeral yesterday, but today was their day. About 200,000 filled St. Peter's Square for Memorial Mass, led by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican Secretary of State, and Francis II in command, who many papal watchers are predicting could be the next pope.
Francis is the first pope in more than a century to be buried outside of the Vatican. President Trump is back in the United States after having what he called good talks with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky in Rome yesterday. Fox's Madeline Rivera reports. The initial assessment from both sides of the roughly 15-minute meeting is that the conversations were positive.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky saying in part, hoping for results on everything we covered, protecting lives of our people, full and unconditional ceasefire, reliable and lasting peace that will prevent another war from breaking out. Very symbolic meeting that has potential to become historic if we achieve joint results. He goes on to thank the president, a shift in tone after their argument at the Oval Office in February.
But in a new Truth Social post, President Trump questions Russian President Vladimir Putin's commitment to end the war, pointing to his attacks on civilian areas over the last few days. A man accused of killing a Muslim worshiper in a mosque in southern France. Still on the run, police say the victim was stabbed to death Friday while alone with the suspect in La Grande Côme. The Grand Mosque of Paris says the victim had just finished cleaning it. America is listening to Fox News.

One person is dead, 11 others injured in a shooting in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Police say they observed a disturbance involving several people yesterday. During that fight, somebody started shooting.
An officer responded and opened fire as well. The officer was not hurt, but the individual who was shot during the police response later died from their injuries. President Trump renews talks of a third term in a recent magazine interview, as Fox's Jared Halperin reports from the White House. During a wide-ranging interview with Time magazine, President Trump said there are loopholes that have been discussed to serve a third term. The 22nd Amendment bars presidents from more than two terms in office.
President Trump says many people are begging him to run again, and the Trump Organization has started selling Trump 2028 hats. The president told the magazine he does not think he's expanding the power of his office, but instead using it as it was meant to be used, and feels he's had a very successful first 100 days of his second term.
At the White House, Jared Halpern, Fox News. Disgraced former Congressman George Santos will spend more than seven years in prison. He was sentenced Friday in New York on fraud charges, as Fox's Jeff Monasso reports. George Santos didn't speak to reporters following his sentencing Friday to 87 months in prison for fraud and identity theft after the New York Republican pled guilty to deceiving donors and stealing the identities of nearly a dozen people.
including family members, to fund his winning campaign. U.S. Attorney John Durham did speak to reporters. That same fate awaits those in public service at any level, state, local, or federal, who abuse their positions and serve themselves and not the people they represent. Santos served barely a year in Congress before being expelled in 2023. He set a report to federal prison in July. Jeff Manasso, Fox News.
