At least 10 people are dead and at least 35 hurt. Fox's Alexis McAdams has more. Investigators are trying to piece this all together. What we do know, according to investigators, is this man was trying to run over as many people as he could. He went around the barracks.
Arcades, according to police. And now this morning, we can confirm from a federal official that the suspect is dead. Ten people were killed, more than 30 possibly injured at local hospitals. We know that suspect is dead. Two officers shot in stable condition. It happened at 3 o'clock this morning. This guy's speeding down Bourbon Street in a pickup truck. Then, according to police, he fires a gun from the inside of his truck. That's when he shot at least two of those New Orleans police officers who are expected to be okay, at least for now.
The suspect died at the scene. Law enforcement has recovered a handgun and an AR-style rifle. The identity of the driver has not yet been released. In New York City's world-famous Times Square, people from all over the world gathered and arranged so cross roads of the world to ring in the new year.

Federal officials say the mowing down of revelers in New Orleans is being investigated as a possible act of terrorism. House Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana may lose his speakership if some of his GOP colleagues get their way. However, Johnson does have the support of the incoming president. It was just about a month ago that Speaker of the House Mike Johnson was lighting the Capitol Christmas tree. Three, two, one.
Two, one. There you go. Will he be doing it again in 2025? Some Republicans are none too happy with Johnson, who himself won the gavel only after a protracted fight that exposed a deep fissure within the GOP ranks. And President-elect Trump is clearly pushing to resolve this quickly. He's the one that can win right now. People like him. Republicans will control the Senate, but the margin is narrow. There is plenty of work ahead.
In Washington, Doug Luzader, Fox News. President-elect Trump is calling on Senate Republicans to ensure that confirmation hearings for his cabinet nominees goes smoothly. President-elect Trump is concerned that Democrats are going to deploy some procedural maneuvering to try and slow down or trip up the confirmations of his cabinet nominees. He wrote in part on Truth Social, quote, they will try all sorts of tricks starting very soon. Republicans must not allow them to do that.
So in the 119th Congress, Republicans will hold a 53-47 majority in the Senate. So Democrats are not going to have the opportunity to stop the nominations. But what they could do is deploy some slowing down tactics that, for example, a member of either party could place a hold on a nominee. Or, of course, there's always the filibuster. All of that would keep a position vacant and run down the clock, so to speak.
That's Fox's Alexandria Hoff reporting. Several lawmakers have expressed doubts in Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of Health and Human Services for previously suggesting vaccines are linked to autism. They've also expressed skepticism about Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence. I'm Deborah Valentine. This is Fox News.
