In order to seal the border on Lisa Brady, Fox News, the White House just confirming President Trump signed an executive order that, quote, suspends physical entry of aliens engaged in an invasion through the U.S. southern border. A federal judge rejects a new trial for former New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez ahead of a sentencing set for next week. U.S. District Judge Sidney Stein's decision keeps Menendez's sentencing on track for next Wednesday. Lawyers for the former senator claimed the jury, while it deliberated, had access to evidence it should not have seen.
Prosecutors admitted back in November that those errors were made, but Judge Stein said there appeared to be no prejudice to the defendants making a new trial unnecessary. Menendez is expected to get up to 15 years in prison for his guilt on 16 corruption counts.
His wife, Nadine, will be tried on similar charges starting February 5th. Grinnell Scott, Fox News. Two businessmen convicted with Menendez are also due for sentencing next week.
