Peace talks get derailed. I'm Carmen Roberts, Fox News. Ukraine's President Zelensky says he is cutting short his trip to South Africa and returning home after Russia launched a drone and missile attack on Kyiv overnight, killing at least nine and injuring 70.
Officials in Kiev report Russia used at least 45 drones in the overnight attack, along with ballistic missiles. Rescue workers using their hands to move rubble and rescue trapped residents of one building that's almost entirely destroyed. Dozens are now in the hospital. The attack came just hours after President Donald Trump criticised his Ukrainian counterpart for refusing to cede Crimea to Russia. The peninsula was illegally annexed by Moscow in 2014.

A dozen Democratic states are suing the Trump administration to block them, claiming they're illegal and bad for the economy. While the Wall Street Journal cites a senior White House official as saying that the administration is considering slashing its steep tariffs on China, some by more than 50%.
The Treasury Secretary reportedly indicated both the U.S. and China believe the current tariff rates are unsustainable and could mutually be lowered if talks were to kick off. Americans closely watching what comes next. New Fox polls show nearly three quarters of voters believe tariffs will drive up the cost of products. A record 55 percent think tariffs hurt the economy.

Thousands of mourners are standing in line to pay their last respects to Pope Francis this morning. There are so many more than expected that the Vatican kept the doors to St. Peter's Basilica open all night for people to see the Pope in his coffin. This is an amazing event here in Rome. More than 230 people were injured. The Jones Road fire in New Jersey has burned through more than 13,000 acres. And while it is at least 50% under control, firefighters need some help from the rain.
Officials say this fire could burn for days. What started out as a 10-acre fire has grown into one of the largest wildfires the area has ever seen. Evacuation orders for more than 5,000 Ocean County residents were lifted as firefighters made progress by setting backburns to reduce the dead underbrush fueling the fire.
The fire destroyed a warehouse owned by the Liberty Dorn Awning Company. The company's president says more than $2 million worth of supplies and equipment are now gone. Fire crews really need a good, hard rainfall. However, no rain is in the forecast in
