He'll address world leaders for the first time since returning to the White House. I'm Dave Anthony, Fox News. President Trump will talk to them virtually this morning as they gather in Davos, Switzerland. The day after his first TV interview since taking office again, reacting to Fox's Hannity, to former President Biden pardoning family members. The funny thing, maybe the sad thing, is he's a president.
He didn't give himself a pardon. And that is something House Speaker Mike Johnson says Congress will investigate after their Biden impeachment inquiry into family business dealings overseas. Now, the president also defended his pardons and commutations to about 1,500 January 6th defendants convicted of their roles in the 2021 Capitol riot. They were in there for three and a half years, a long time, and in many solitary confinement situations.
treated like nobody's ever been treated. It's treated so badly. Democrats and some police officers wounded in that riot, very critical of the Trump actions. The president also advocating reform at FEMA, wanting states to handle disasters. Tomorrow, he'll visit areas of North Carolina that were hurricane flooding disaster areas, and he'll go to the Los Angeles area devastated by wildfires. And there are two new ones burning. A small one near Sherman Oaks, another north of there near Castaic Lake, has led to 50,000 evacuations. If I
exploded from 50 acres to more than 5,000 acres just within an hour or two. Crews with the Los Angeles County Fire Department and Angeles National Forest are battling this wind-driven fire that officials say is burning in very dry brush. Fox's Christina Coleman, that fire is now over 10,000 acres. That doesn't burn any structures, unlike the previous fires that destroyed thousands of homes and buildings.
Seven police officers are in recovery in San Antonio, Texas after being shot last night, responding to a suicidal man who opened fire on them and then barricaded himself in. The suspect was found to be deceased. We don't know if he was shot by a self-inflicted war or whether or not he was shot by smart officers. That is San Antonio Police Chief William McManus. America's listening to Fox News.

Seven police officers, again in recovery in San Antonio, Texas, have been shot. In New York City, they're doing what they can to reduce gun violence. There's been a lot of focus there on reducing subway crime, but the mayor is touting the work they've done to reduce gun violence in that city. New York City Mayor Eric Adams announcing that 20,000 illegal firearms have been taken off the streets under his watch since 2022. 3,000 mortars.
more than were taken off New York City streets in the previous three-year period. That means we saved 268 additional lives and seen 1,500 fewer shooting victims. The year may be new, but our priorities are still the same, keep New Yorkers safe. Adams says last year was the fourth lowest year for shooting incidents since the city began tracking in the 1990s.
Gun arrests also up 8% compared to 2019 through 2021. Jeff Manasso, Fox News. Speaking of guns, there's a new law now in Michigan. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed legislation Wednesday requiring firearms collected during gun buyback programs to be fully destroyed.
The new law is in reaction to state police acknowledging a previous disposal method only destroyed the frame of the firearm. A private company was then selling or recycling other parts of the gun. That led to backlash from some who felt the weapon should be fully destroyed. Gun buyback programs are when communities purchase firearms from private owners with the hope of reducing the number of guns in circulation.
Tom Graham, Fox News. A strike is finally over in Las Vegas. The longest one in the city in decades. About 700 workers at Virgin Hotels near the Vegas Strip who walked off the job in November demanding better pay have ended that strike after their culinary workers union agreed to a new five-year contract. On Wall Street, stock futures mixed ahead of today's trading. I'm Dave Anthony and this is Fox News.
