Sentencing for the soon-to-be president. I'm Pam Puso, Fox News. It'll happen in New York next week. Judge Juan Merchan has ruled that the sentencing in this criminal case conviction against President-elect Trump will be next Friday, January 10th. And in that same decision, he says that the president-elect will not receive sentence.
jail time. Instead, President-elect Trump will receive what's called an unconditional discharge. This means that the conviction will stick, but that he will not receive any punishment. This will also allow the president-elect to appeal this matter further. Fox's Brian Yennis. House Speaker Mike Johnson will continue to lead the chamber after being elected following a single round of voting.
A trifecta of Thomas Massey, Ralph Norman and Keith Self all voted for someone else. Their votes blocked Johnson, but President-elect Trump intervened with a phone call. Self and Norman then changed their votes to Johnson.

President Biden is using his final days in office to prevent the foreign acquisition of an American company by blocking the nearly $15 billion deal proposed by a Japanese organization to purchase Pittsburgh-based U.S. steel. The White House issued a statement. This acquisition would place one of America's largest steel producers under foreign control and create risk for our national security and our critical supply chains.
Japan is considered one of the U.S.'s strongest allies. More than 50,000 American troops are based there, along with dozens of warships since World War II.
Japan's Nippon Steel had offered the U.S. government the ability to veto any restrictions to the company's steel production. The United Steelworkers Union supports Biden's decision. The family of 39th U.S. President James Earl Carter will escort his remains from Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia, along with the Secret Service agents from the Carter detail. A funeral motorcade will travel to the Carter hometown of Plains, Georgia, to stop by his boyhood home where National Park Service officers will stand and salute. Next, the funeral proceeds to Atlanta and the Georgia state capitol for a moment of silence.

A major winter storm is expected to produce heavy snow, significant ice, and frigid temperatures in the central U.S. That storm will then move east over the next several days, according to the National Weather Service.
