A former president, Jimmy Carter, has arrived at the Carter Center in Atlanta where the family funeral service was held. Fox's Jonathan Siri is there. It was a beautiful ceremony. And, you know, the first speaker, Jason Carter, the grandson of former president Jimmy Carter,
really explain nicely why this ceremony was taking place here, why the former president was so intentional when he was planning his own funeral that the Carter Center would be prominently featured. It's because
He really was extremely proud of the work that he did here. His grandson thanking all of the people at the Carter Center, the staff, many who have worked with the family for a very long time. A state funeral for the late president will take place in Washington, D.C. this week, then a private burial back in Georgia.
The first of what could be many lawsuits will soon be filed against New Orleans over the failure to secure Bourbon Street before the terror attack that left 14 dead. The legal action comes as the company holds vigils honoring the dead. Fox's Madison Scarpino is there.
The local law firm filing the suit is representing one of the survivors of this attack. And it says that the New Orleans Police Department and the city failed to put basic safety precautions in case that may have prevented this tragedy. A registered nurse is arrested and charged with abusing newborns in a Virginia neonatal intensive care unit. The Henrico Doctors' Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, discovered three babies in its neonatal intensive care unit had fractures they couldn't explain. Hours of surveillance video was turned over to police, leading to the arrest of registered nurse Erin Elizabeth Ann Strotman.
She's been charged with malicious wounding and child abuse that caused serious injury. Additional charges are possible as detectives continue to probe a half-dozen similar incidents. The hospital says it's implementing new safety measures, including having an observer present whenever a health care provider enters a baby's room. Jack Callahan, Fox News. The path to a ceasefire in Gaza may be inching closer. Fox's Stephanie Bennett.
with the latest. According to a senior official, Hamas wants a ceasefire deal as soon as possible. And officials are saying this is a promising sign, despite talks in the past not really getting anywhere. Now, the talks resumed in Doha, and the official says that this really does stress the importance and the seriousness in seeking to reach a deal, and that the new talks will focus on agreeing to a permanent ceasefire and the withdrawal of Israeli forces.
But the U.S.-led talks again have repeatedly stalled in the past. Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly vowed to press ahead in Gaza until Hamas is destroyed. The United Nations Security Council warns that Israel's military operations are pushing the Palestinian health care system to the brink of collapse. Palestinian medics say Israeli military strikes in the Gaza Strip have killed at least 70 people over the last day.
Sentencing set for Friday in President-elect Trump's hush money case. Judge Juan Merchan leaning toward closing the case without any real punishment.
