The NTSB in Philadelphia. I'm Jane Fergus, Fox News. A Learjet 55 crash landing into the Roosevelt Mall in Philadelphia Friday evening. Here's National Safety Board Chairman Jennifer Homendy. Was destroyed when it crashed into a commercial and residential area shortly after takeoff from Northeast Philadelphia Airport with six people on board, including two crew members.
And those six people on board died along with one person on the ground. Meanwhile, the investigation continues into the midair collision in Washington, D.C. between a passenger plane and an Army helicopter Wednesday night. Sixty seven people were killed and now both black
Black boxes have been recovered. Fox's Grady Trimble reports from Arlington, Virginia. The black box from the helicopter in particular will be critical in this investigation because if that helicopter was in fact flying higher than it should have been, the investigators will be able to use that black box
to tell. The NTSB is not responding to President Trump's comments that DEI hiring of air traffic controllers during the Biden administration played a role in the crash, but it does tell us it's interviewing the air traffic controllers who were working at the time of Wednesday's midair collision. The NTSB has begun removing debris from the Potomac River. And staffing at the air traffic control tower was reportedly lower than normal with one controller doing the job of two people.
The U.S. military has conducted coordinated airstrikes against Islamic State operatives in Somalia, the first attacks in the African nation during President Trump's second term. An American citizen among the three hostages Hamas released today. Fox's Trey Yinkst reports from Tel Aviv. American citizen Keith Siegel on that list released from the Gaza City port. Another man, Ofer Calderon, was also freed from southern Gaza in the city of Han Yunis along with Yarden Bibas.
Yarden, his wife and two young children were kidnapped on the 7th. His wife and children haven't been seen since. They were exchanged today for 183 Palestinian prisoners, some of them being released into the West Bank, others into Gaza. Now, next weekend, there will be another release of hostages from the Gaza Strip.
And we do understand that today conversations are taking place in Doha to continue this agreement and try to start implementing phase two of the deal. Hamas says it won't release the remaining hostages without an end to the war and a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.
A low-profile Midwesterner has been voted to run the Democratic Party. Here's Fox's Jill Nadeau. At the Democratic National Committee winter meeting in a D.C. suburb, over 400 party members from every state and U.S. territory met to choose a new leader. Coming out on top was Minnesota Democratic Party leader Ken Martin. We got punched in the mouth in November. There's no two ways about it. He told the DNC they've got a big job ahead to counter the GOP.
When the Trump agenda fails Americans, which it most certainly will and already has, we have to be there with a legitimate alternative to this chaos. Martin replaces Jamie Harrison of South Carolina atop the DNC. Harrison didn't seek another term after President Trump won in November and Republicans took control of both houses of Congress.
