What a difference a day makes. I'm Ron Chester in Fox News. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky got a warm welcome in Britain from Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
A day after President Trump dressed him down and canceled their meeting yesterday. Fox's Lucas Tomlinson in Washington. The meeting went off the rails when a reporter asked President Trump if he's aligning himself too much with Vladimir Putin. President Trump responded that he's trying to stay in the middle to bring peace between Ukraine and Russia. Then Vice President J.D. Vance jumped in, says he wants to see diplomacy rule the day. He does not want to see what the Biden administration had been doing to end the war.
And then President Zelensky jumped in again and started offering somewhat of a history lesson, lecturing the vice president, calling him J.D. about the ceasefire violations, 25 to date. Later on special report with Brett Baier, Zelensky said he wanted security guarantees included in the agreement. Some Republicans criticized President Zelensky while European leaders defended him.
Zelensky warned Trump that a ceasefire with Russia is not enough without security guarantees. Pope Francis is resting after a bronchospasm. Friday led to him inhaling vomit. A FedEx aircraft made an emergency landing at Newark Liberty Airport in New Jersey this morning after a bird strike caused an engine fire. The mystery deepens into the deaths of actor Gene Hackman, his wife, and one of their dogs at their home in New Mexico. This after the county sheriff ruled out carbon monoxide poisoning. Fox's Matt Finn in Santa Fe.
The running theory this week was that perhaps Jean and Betsy died from carbon monoxide poisoning, especially after one of Jean's daughters said she suspected toxic fumes. But yesterday, the Santa Fe County Sheriff said the pathologist ruled out the carbon monoxide poisoning and pointed to evidence obtained from Hackman's pacemaker as an indication of when he may have died. Investigators and doctors are going to likely be able to pull more data from the pacemakers.
Now, Gene was found on the floor in his mudroom, sunglasses nearby. The responding officer said it seemed like he had suddenly fallen, but the pathologist says Gene and his wife did not have external injuries.
