Fox Sports Update. The 4th of July will be celebrated around the country with barbecues and fireworks. The baseball will also play a key role in the fun. Major League Baseball has a full slate of games today with the Subway Series taking center stage. The Yankees and the Mets kick off a three-game series in Queens with both teams not exactly on hot streaks. The Mets have won two in a row, but that comes after New York had a miserable stretch, losing 14 of 17 games.
The Bronx Bombers are experiencing their own troubles coming off a four-game sweep at the hands of the Blue Jays to drop the Bronx Bombers out of first place in the American League East.

In games played Thursday night, the Dodgers are on a roll. The Dodgers won their fourth straight and swept the White Sox, beating Chicago 6-2 with Mookie Betts launching a solo shot in the seventh inning. That was courtesy of Sportsnet LA as the Dodgers have now won eight of their last nine.
In soccer news, British police say former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. The investigation was opened in February of 2022 with the five rape charges related to two different women, while Partey's lawyer told Britain's Press Association he, quote, denies all the charges against him. Partey's contract with Arsenal expired at the end of last season, and he is a free agent after joining the Premier League club in 2020. He's expected to appear in court on Tuesday, August 5th.
And in news for a year out, President Donald Trump said Thursday he's thinking of staging a UFC match on the grounds of the White House to celebrate 250 years of American independence. Trump, a huge fan of the UFC and friend of UFC CEO Dana White, said it would be a full fight with upwards of 20,000 spectators, though no other details were shared.
