Fox weather. Fox weather meteorologist Kendall Smith. And here's the latest from America's Weather Center. Today, we're seeing lingering concerns for heavy rainfall and the potential for flash flooding across the southeast and portions of the Gulf Coast. A slow moving front is responsible for multiple waves of low pressure, leading to slow moving thunderstorms and heavy rain. Central and southern Alabama are under a moderate risk for excessive rainfall and a slight risk stretches across the rest of the southeast and Gulf Coast.
There's also a risk for severe weather today with some locally damaging winds and isolated tornadoes possible. Meanwhile, to the north, colder air is sweeping in behind the front, bringing light to moderate rain to the mid Atlantic. Some areas around the Great Lakes northeast will see colder temperatures and the possibility of lakeback snowfall.
While accumulation should stay light, several inches of snow could fall on higher elevations, and there's even a chance for late-season sleet and freezing rain.
