Le/la maire = the mayor
L’amer = bitters
Le père = the father
Pair vs impair = even vs odd
Une paire (de chaussettes, etc) = a pair (of socks, etc.)
Une paire d’amis = a pair/couple/duo
Un pair = a peer ; a colleague
