This story is about Valerie, the mother of Emily who is autistic. As Emily grew up she couldn't communicate or speak, she was frustrated and aggressive. Valerie constantly represented Emily through daily battles with the school district to help her be educated in general education classrooms. Emily learned to communicate with typing and is a brilliant young woman. Valerie and Emily, co-authored an inspiring memoir together. What message do you get from this interview?

ABOUT the LemonAid Stand: Heidi started hosting the LemonAid Stand live radio talk show, over 20 years ago, in 1999! It all came about when Heidi was dealing with thoughts of suicide, inadequacy, and dealing with infertility. She realized as she reached out to others and heard their stories, she would be uplifted and inspired no matter what she was going through.
