电工
Topics
IELTSIELTS.COM: 感谢您收听本期节目。

Remember that the training continues at IELTSIELTS.com, where we are slowly inching our way towards 200 lessons. It's very exciting, and I'm glad you're along for the ride with me. All right, this week, we are looking at an IELTS Speaking Part 2 cue card that asks you to speak about a time when you did something difficult. I'll read the cue card to you now.

Describe an occasion when you had to do something difficult. You should say what it was, why it was difficult, how you handled the situation, and explain what you learned from it. Alright, first thing, let's listen to the sample so you can hear the model spoken naturally. Here it is. We will now start part two of the exam. Here is your cue card. Start speaking now, please.

Well, as I mentioned before, I work as an electrician. One particularly difficult experience I had was when I had to rewire an entire house by myself due to an unexpected staffing issue. Initially, I was supposed to work with a team, but at the last minute my colleagues were urgently reassigned to another job. That left me responsible for completing the work on my own. The task was challenging because the house was quite old.

This meant the existing wiring was outdated and not up to modern safety standards. I had to carefully remove the old wiring and then ensure that the new system I was installing met all safety regulations.

Because I was working alone, I also had to manage every aspect of the job, planning the layout, installing the cables, and dealing with any unexpected issues that arose. To handle the situation, I broke the project down into smaller tasks and set clear goals for each day to ensure steady progress.

I also double-checked every connection and used my experience to anticipate potential problems. In moments of doubt, I called a senior electrician for quick advice, which gave me reassurance and kept me on track. In the end, I successfully completed the job on time with everything up to standard. This experience taught me a lot about problem solving and time management.

I also learned that in high-pressure situations, staying calm and methodical is the key to overcoming challenges. Thank you. Okay, we will now start this week's speech shadowing exercise. In this week's free sample exercise, you will repeat the first few sentences from the model. I'll read this section of the response again to you now, just to refresh your memory. So the candidate starts by saying, Well, as I mentioned before, I work as an electrician.

One particularly difficult experience I had was when I had to rewire an entire house by myself due to an unexpected staffing issue. Initially, I was supposed to work with a team, but at the last minute my colleagues were urgently reassigned to another job. That left me responsible for completing the work on my own.

Okay, let's go ahead and start this week's speech shadowing exercise. If this is your first time doing a speech shadowing exercise, remember you should be speaking aloud as you listen. So you will first hear a portion of the sample, and then you will be given a pause within which to repeat what you have heard. And the point of the exercise is to try to adjust your pronunciation to sound as much like the model as possible.

Remember that at IELTSIELTS.com, just $25 per month gives you access to the full library, where you can train uninterrupted with almost 200 full speech shadowing lessons. Okay, here's this week's speech shadowing exercise. Enjoy. We will now start part two of the exam. Here is your cue card. Start speaking now, please.
