Every-so-often, Melanie and I play a little mental exercise called "how did we get here?" We connect all the dots that lead us to this exact point...

Right now, I'm sitting in a beach-front AirBnB on a tiny island in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Africa...

It is a Spanish Island and the locals are out in full force enjoying the sun and the beach today... Semana Santa starts tomorrow and this will be my second time experiencing this amazing holiday week in a Spanish speaking culture...

Over lunch, I was just blown away at the fact that we've got a couple weeks in this amazing little paradise and started to connect the dots.

I'm here because I had a couple week break between two speaking gigs... And flying across the globe repeatedly is not my style.

I got these speaking gigs because of two other speakers I met at the DMSS event in Bali...

I landed the DMSS event in Bali because of a talk I gave on the Nomad Cruise a couple years ago...

Now here is where the connecting the dots game is truly amazing...

When I threw my hat in the ring for the speaking gig on the Nomad Cruise, I had no idea it would lead me here... To this moment on the Grand Canary islands!

As the path unfolds, all we can ever see is that next step...

Only when we take that next step, can we see the one after that.

But, most people are STUCK trying to see every step on the path before ever getting started!

They want to see how all the dots connect, first... But the truth is that you can only connect all the dots when looking back!

So the 'trick' to it all... Is to just start!

Get some momentum on your side and keep taking steps forward!

Not every step that lead me to this moment on this beautiful beach with crystal clear blue water was fun...

Not every step felt like it was 'progress'...

Many steps felt like they were taking me in the completely wrong direction...

But I kept going and the path that has unfolded has been absolutely amazing.

So, I ask you...

Are you taking steps forward every day?

Or... Are you 'stuck' trying to figure it all out before getting started?
