A student recently asked me if he should stay longer at his internship, because he’s been promised some new responsibilities if he stays on.
There are a lot of factors that go into this decision, but ultimately it’s a tradeoff between what the incremental learning you’ll get by staying, versus the opportunity cost of being able to add a new internship experience onto your resume instead.
Plus - depending on what other experiences you already have on your resume, that would make a difference on how you make this decision as well.
Watch me walk this student through this decision. Building your resume effectively requires you to allocate your time towards things that will really move the needle, so make sure you learn how to do this.
