When doctors discovered a rare form of cancer in Kelly Cartwright’s leg when she was just 15 years old, they gave her two impossible options.

Radical surgery, which wasn’t guaranteed to work, or amputation.

She chose the latter, and quickly discovered while there were some things she couldn’t do anymore, there was plenty she could do.

So she set her sights on track and field, with a dream to win gold at the Paralympics, and achieved exactly that in London in long jump along with a silver in the 100 metres.

Kelly is a mum of two, an inspirational speaker, a model, and now an Australian record holding powerlifter and she was even the first above-knee female amputee to climb the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro.

She’s honestly one of the most uplifting and optimistic people I’ve ever met.

She’s turned her lemons into an opportunity to empower people to embrace their bodies, encourage diversity in the media, and live their best lives.
