Lisa Burling was living the life as a PR powerhouse in London, spearheading huge global campaigns, rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous, when she decided it was time to move back home to Australia, settle down in a small coastal New South Wales town, and start a family.

Everything was cruising along just as she’d imagined it, she’d reconnected with her high school sweetheart, given birth to her first child Luca, and fallen pregnant with her second son Nate not long after.

But her picture perfect life quickly unravelled. A challenging pregnancy meant Nate was delivered via emergency c-section eight weeks early. And if that wasn’t difficult enough, just 24 hours after he was born, her partner called to let her know he no longer loves her and their relationship was over.

Suddenly finding herself as a broke, unemployed single mum to two little boys, one of which was fighting for his life, Lisa hardly recognised her new reality.

What follows next is a true phoenix rising from the ashes story – Lisa opens up to me about how losing everything allowed her to start again and design the life of her dreams.
