Hey folks, Aaron here. Welcome back to another edition of Deeper Lore, a bonus episode designed to serve as a topical guide to the most recent episode of lore. My team and I have made well over 300 episodes of this podcast over the past decade, so I know that frustration when you hear a new episode and it sparks a memory of a similar one from a couple of years ago, but you can't track it down.
Heck, we have spreadsheet upon spreadsheet here in the office, and sometimes it's hard for us to find stuff as well. That's where Deeper Lore comes in. The goal here is to quickly point you in the direction of some older, also related episodes, so you can keep this week's topic alive a little longer and, you know, go deeper into the lore. Thus the creative name, Deeper Lore.
This week for episode 277, In the Rough, we take an unexpected trip into the folklore surrounding some pretty famous diamonds. And I get it, this one doesn't have bloodthirsty monsters or poltergeists in it, but the stories surrounding these shimmering gems are still pretty freaky, and I have a feeling that you enjoyed what we gave you. It's an odd topic to go deeper on, but here's my best take. Mining and treasure hunting. So,
Sound good? If so, here are three older episodes that will pair up nicely with this week's new one. First up, episode 120, Whistle While You Work. As the title might suggest, this classic episode delves into the wonderful world of mining folklore. Rocks might not be especially scary, I get that, but dark holes in the ground certainly are, and this episode goes deep, pun definitely intended.
Next, download episode 208, Bygone. This episode has one of my favorite magical objects of all time, something called a peep stone. There's actually a lot of treasure hunting in this oldie, much of which depends on the power of psychics. Check it out. I think you'll enjoy it.
And finally, go give a listen to Lord Legends number 36, Strike It Rich. For this trip through folklore, we visited a number of Arizona mining towns and explored the worlds they made and the scars they left behind. It sounds benign, but it's actually quite terrifying. So go check it out.
And there you go. Follow up this week's brand new episode with a trip into the past. Episodes 120, 208, and Legends 36 are waiting for you in this podcast feed. You can just scroll through with your finger and find them in the app, or you can tap their direct links in the description for this episode. And until next time, stay spooky.
