Small business owners are a bit more optimistic. I'm Novosafo with the Marketplace Minute. A measure of small business optimism hit its highest point of the year in June. Still, it remains far below its historic average. The National Federation of Independent Business says inflation remains a top concern, along with difficulty finding qualified workers.

The worst fears of the oil and gas industry failed to materialize after Hurricane Beryl pummeled Texas. Major refineries along the Gulf Coast reported minimal, if any, damage.
